    I am getting in this Ruck world for the last 6 weeks, damn this is one that makes us really strong! I have a good free standing HS for 60-100 sec solid, straddle 60 sec, straight/ straddle 8 average. Had this drill from my coach: back to wall HS with two palms from the wall then lower down in the tuck and open the shoulders max. Did this 6 weeks now I doing the free standing one. First session today 5 sets of 20-30 sec hold, wow my arms and shoulder feel worked a lot.
    Thanks for this drill Paul, if i would be closer down under I would drop by🤸🙏

    I like to squeeze the hell out of every muscle in my body during narrow deep squat with arms overhead. This way my nervous system is really getting used to what tuck HS should feel like. And then I can do the same in a handstand

    thanks so much, tuck position is such a challenge for me (i think mainly thoracic/shoulder tightness). Previously tried something similar with back to wall but this looks like a better drill. appreciate the upload!

      @@PaulTwyman starting to get the hang of it. Was able to hold for 10 seconds today. It’s super tough man but slowly building strength in that position. My shoulder flexion and thoracic spine mobility have come a long way in the last year but especially in the last 6 months. Made regular handstand seem that much easier to. Going to incorporate tucks in every session now.

    This very interesting! So to counterbalance the weight of the legs curve the thoracic and lumbar spine but straighten the shoulders and upper back in the opposite direction?? (More like a hollowback position)

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  Год назад

      Yes but as someone becomes very deep in tuck there will be more rounding of the back while still opening the shoulders

    i actually do the wrong form on purpose to complement my planche training (wrong form meaning letting my shoulders move forward out of line with my hands, mimicking the planche)

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  21 день назад

      Yes thats a great position to condition. It won't help your tuck flexibility but it will help balance, HSPU and press handstand. See this video ruclips.net/video/i1sNKkc9TEY/видео.html

    Paul your vids are great!
    In the before pic your shoulders are in front of your wrists- what did you do to get them over your wrists in the after pic? Sometimes when I kick up my shoulders go in front of my wrists too
    Do I need to push more, engage my fingers?
    Curious how you fixed this

    Fantastic channel Paul....I have been following your videos for a while, first time commenting as a positive shout out....I'm just a beginner at all this, but still find your videos helpful...esp like that you show how to get 'into' the 90 degree tuck wall position. Looking forward to trying this. For some reason, I have a terribly hard time doing anything chest-to-wall as a simple wall walk is very hard for me despite strong shoulders from decades of weight training...I think the majority of my problem is limited flexibility - you point this out in the beginning of this video....do you recommend and/or have a set of drills to do tuck handstand training back-to-wall?

    Can we measure by sitting in hero position backing the wall?.. and put hands at the knees points ?

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  Год назад

      It would give you a rough starting point but you should be able to closer to the wall with the hands especially if you have good thoracic mobility

    I'm so scared to move my butt off-centre to counterbalance. Your drill in the vid will help with that?

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  3 года назад

      Yes, slowly move the hands closer to the wall and it will force your butt over (could take a few weeks or months)

  • @imosyon

    should tuck handstand be first before regular handstand? because i felt it was easier to balance tuck handstand

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  2 года назад +2

      I’d start with straight as easier to progress through the beginner drills using the wall. You can also get stuck in closed hip if you don’t practice straight. Depending on your level I’d train both 🙃
