Amazing man, just amazing. So simple but with that so efficient drills. Thanks a lot!
I've only recently started to watch your videos and all I can say is that I have found so much useful information. Things I would've never noticed otherwise. Not only that but the videos are simple, informative and easy to follow. I will really take everything I have learned into consideration to be healthier and just for the fun of it.
Edit: it has truly made me realize just how immobile I am. :P
Appreciate your work a lot!
Once I can do middle splits, doing a proper handstand will be my next goal.
Great video Tom! The Tuck is definitely one of the best handstand hacks
Thanks, great tutorial--I always suspected the "tuck" was more difficult and more worthy than it appeared. I struggled for years with it and could not find much info on it. This year I was determined to nail it and drilled unrelentingly daily with as many entrees and variations I could find--I will be adding your chest to wall slides to my regimen.
I like this a lot. Basically 2 exercises that cover all the bases. Much prefer this over having 10+ mobility/strength drills. Just working the actual move. Simple!
Excellent! Thanks so much, Tom.
Thanks just what i have been waiting for.
Very good Tipps! Proper tuck has always been hard Form me, but definitely worth practicing!
It is so easy and logical to see you do it. Love the example.
For the amateurs amongst us, is practising the tuck in headstand still beneficial for those of us still progressing towards handstand?
Yes definitely. Will build vital strength in the shoulders :)
@@BodyweightWarrior Forearm/elbow stand is also very beneficial for developing shoulder and core strength
yuh that's definitely a game changer for me! Felt really good when got it and really made me feel the correct way to open my shoulders!
A good approach and recommendations.
Exactly what i needed. Thanks for the guide!
question question, what if i had lower back pain while tucking
Now that's what I've been waiting for
Thank for the awesome video Tom. I kind of do the same routine but I do chest to wall tucks for reps and the back to wall balance hold. Flexibility is my biggest disadvantage. I use to get lower back pain when I attempted the chest to wall tuck. Been working on my mobility and it's much better. No more pain.
I also get lower back pain sometimes working chest to wall tuck. I figured it’s because I’m pushing deeper than my shoulders are ready for.
Chest to wall drill is unreal for us stiff-shouldered folk. 😂 Thank you so much for the amazing resources, Tom!
Thanks a lot 🎉🎉🎉🎉
yesssiirrrr love doing tucked handstands latetly
awesome!
Hello athletes, how is everyone?💪
Hi Tom, great video!
So you got a solid tuck already, what are using it for now? As warm-up? Or do stay in it for time (1/2 mins) to build stability?
I just want to learn this to progress better into my planche negatives :( but still an awesome video!
thank you m8
Excellently explained why and then how so systematically. Thank you so much . Really motivating . Love and light . Namaste .
Can you do a video on the press tuck?
I started working on this today with looking through and handstand leans on one side. Curious if knees touching chest matters? Also, my easiest entry the I hit a alot is the straddle up, should I bother tucking up or using the easist entry since getting into a tuck entry makes me tired?
Find this much harder than normal HS. The increase in wrist flex demand is a big one.
Hey Tom😊 How many seconds should I hold my tuck handstand to start my press to handstand training?
Tom Tom the backers son
Stole a pig and away he run
Sold it to the butcher for a grand
And made a video clip on tuck handstand.
You're the best Tom 👍
You're the best tucking hand stander in hand stand land.
We love you 🖤
Did I get any bacon? Happy to help :)
Have you made a video on how to safely, fall out of handstands for beginners ?
no sir but can definitely add it :)
How far from the wall do you like to have your hands? Trying to keep the same distance from the wall for every session to keep the progress consistent and often find I need a few sets to adjust to the best position, so trying to find an rough measurement that I can get straight into.
For learning "real" handbalancing is better to perform handstand on ground or handrails?
juuuust do it to see it
Hi Tom, any tips on how to bail safely from a tuck handstand? The pirouette doesn't seem to work for some reason.
Thanks Tom, what are your thoughts on starting the tuck handstand from the forearm/elbow stand as a progression?
Umm it would be very hard. Why not
Bit depressed ATM. Natalie Richter's 30 day couch to handstand program is nice. She's got nice energy. Sort of a substitute for having a girlfriend or decent sister.
Lots of nice little stretches and mobilising activity's. Goes super slow which a little annoying but probably means good as a recover tool for other stuff u are doing.
Could you pls do a video on functional scoliosis?
go see a physio / chiro. I don't think it's the sort of thing that can be well presented on RUclips. Each instance will be different :)
I train handstand with the tuck entrance. It feels more comfortable then the normal kick up. But I struggle to straighten my legs. Any tips?
Would a head stand be a good progression
Tom, ok, tuck is a must but, my question .... what is first: a decent handstand or a tuck?? maybe try to combine??? I mean, you have a handstand routine ir order to work overhead mobility. For people with lack of shoulder mobility is it better to work first on opening shoulders exercises?? thanxs, great video!!!!
I suggest you train for the handstand balance first, maybe aim for 30-45 seconds... after that you can work on your alignment through the tuck handstand drill and chest to wall drill and also head HS tuck drills
I would work them synergically as they will both help each other in progressing :)
In my opinion, especially for beginners. It is important to know how the handstand works, so correct bracing and proprioception is key for balance, when you get that down then you can work on the alignment though the tuck and other drills.

It's easier for me to kick up into tuck than to straight...
I'm not getting how to involve core
I compensate at the lower back cause my wrists are not that flexible..
Good-looking socked feet are a nice bonus. 2:20
Hey Tom this is a completely off-topic question but I was wondering what kind of wooden rings you were using. Do you have a treated pair of rings? Is that why you're able to use them outside? I'm in the middle of buying a pair but I don't know if I have to get a treated pair (or treat the wood myself) to be able to use them outside... Haha I'm kind of lost! Does anyone have an idea?
No clue... 😂... I use mine outside, but in a covered area so no sun or rain gets to it
I leave mine outside somethings and I don't think they're treated. You can always sand them down and treat them yourself :)
@@BodyweightWarrior Alright! I'll probably go for the untreated ones as well;)
Do you wear your Oura ring all day? Or just at night?
currently all day, it's grown on me aesthetically :)
@@BodyweightWarrior Thanks for the reply. What features do you like using other than the sleep tracking?
Are my hips/butt supposed to be arched in the tuck hs?
Ben Peled how do you define arch? You should know that your butt will always be out of line if you have muscular legs
@@suleman9784 my legs arent that muscular i just see in the video compared to my form hes less arched than me
I started calisthenics last year and cant do the tuck handstand for my life. My genetics also dont help cause my lower back is pretty stiff.
Don't worry
It will work out
It has been 4 years since I started calisthenics and although I was very weak (very weak)
Consistency helped me out
I dont understand why you said you dont hsve the best genetics for shoulder flexion. If its not structural (like say, an acromion impigement) a healthy shoulder should be able to have 180 degrees of flexion
Xxh0mEr0xX there’s much more too it than it may appear. Due to the complexity of anatomical interactions with the shoulder and then combined with supporting your body and balancing, it’s not as simple as 180 degrees passive range = good line. From my experience coaching (and personally), some individuals will never get true 180 degrees overhead however a little under is enough for advanced handbalancing :)
@@BodyweightWarrior I was always wondering way it is. Because i've seen you in other videos and sure you have that passive flexibility (so you dont have limitations on the pec/biceps or even lats) you also have thoracic extension. Maybe is like Mikael says about that lower traps action. But is kinda worrying see that struggle, because if you cant have that line, how can i aspire to it? Hahah.
Miguel Santana says it requieres about 10000 hours, so we better have patience
By the way, i like the direction wich the channel is heading, more handbalancing focus. Hands down one of the best alongside natalie reckert and handstanddiary
@@Xxh0mEr0xX 100% exactly, it's a continual refinement. It's not like you get a straight line and you're like "I'm done, completed handstands." haha. I'll keep working. I've gained a lot this year and I'm into my fourth year of handbalancing :)
Like it then watch it...
First! :)
Tuck is very easy once you get a handstand. You might even find yourself doing the tuck at first by accident from losing your line on a regular handstand.
