Jared Polin - I’m going full frame soon and your Chanel is my go-to for all things photography related. A big and heartfelt thank you for all that you do✌🏻
I've watched you evolve your view of Sony and and the mirrorless market as a whole as the tech progressed, and while I felt you were a little late to the party your coverage has opened the eyes of many lifelong Canon and Nikon shooters to technology they were in some cases will fully ignorant of.
After a 5D2 for 8 years, my A7iii is an absolute gem. Video, 120 fps, IBIS, EVF, insane sharpness, battery life, custom buttons, options galore, low light, night photography, accuracy. e mount, uses any lens ever made, gorgeous images, I mean . . . . . . hello!
Fro - I spent 43 years as a tv news cameraman, shot film, tape, disc, and ram. Owned 4 dslr's, and other old film slr's. You are the best - awesome coverage of your subject. I'm sick of all the other posers out there. You are the top franchise for photo stuff on RUclips. Thanks for the hard work!
I clicked this video thinking I would scrub through and click off, but 30 minutes in and my eyes are glued to the screen. Great job guys.

Definitely the best review on Sony a7 III! I'm seriously considering to get this camera. Canon is slowly killing me with lack of features that Sony obviously has for a long time already.
I think the best part of this real world review is this entire video. The video footage speaks for itself, for us that are interested in the video capabilities. So glad Stephen shot on the A7iii. Thanks for the great content!
A lot of product reviews happen on RUclips, but the best part of your video is how build up a story and make people understand in simplified form with practical examples. Keep up the good work. Cheers from India.
Hey my wife had the same problem with her nose hitting the screen. If you go to the setup tab/page 3 and under the touch panel/pad option change it to touch panel only. Now whenever you look through the viewfinder your nose will not engage touch screen auto focus.
I switched from Nikon to the Sony A73 and it’s finally here today. I was shooting weddings with two D750s and my local camera store was offering some great deals when it came to switching. Stocking up my prime collection with a 35 and 50 currently and adding the 85 and 134 soon. Hopefully adding the A7R3 too. Being 5’3” and having 8-12 hour days I’m excited about the body that actually fits my hands, removing just a tad bit of weight and to finally avoid the horrible slamming of the D750 in silent mode. I’m beyond excited. Thank you guys for all the amazing content, it honestly makes me excited to go out and shoot every time you roll out a new video!
This is one of the best camera reviews I've ever seen! Woah!!! Super clear, accurate and a great walk through of all the epic features and how they can be applied in the real world - seriously well done!! AMAZING!! THANK YOU!!
Can't even lie... looking back at this video.. this might of been one of the most comprehensive yt Vids that made me get the a7iii. for this i really value RUclipsrs like you for this. side note: the music / editing made a real emotional connection to this camera. especially around the 9:05 min. mk. dope shxt man!
Shegzy & Lilylights i can’t complain. i wanna put it more thru it’s paces & still have my a6500 as my B cam. but full frame makes a big difference bokeh. battery life is crazy have 2 extra batteries and almost never need unless i’m shooting podcasts.. the screen feels lacking tho.
Shegzy & Lilylights depending on what your channel focus will be and how versed you are in cameras. if just starting out. i recommend you get the Canon SL2 with a wide zoom lens like the canon 10-22mm .. it’ll help you get started quicker bc u save money in the beginning allowing you get real helpful things like lights. spend some time and researching and writing down a budget. you’ll be surprised you’ll get things done.
This is not a review. This is a documentary about A7 Mark iii. Never seen a review with so much class and so much details. You are the man! Great shots Jared Bro!
Jared, It’s been a while since I’ve visited the channel. My younger brother just became interested in photography and I sent him your old Nikon D3100 video to get him started. It gave me a little flashback to 2011 to when I first started watching your videos. I was in Jr college and just taking interest in photography and video. I found your channel and started to grow and become inspired to learn as much as possible. Flash forward to 2019- I have been working as a cinematographer, editor, and multimedia content creator in higher education for 3 years now. I absolutely love it and I just wanted to give you a shoutout and say thank you for all the knowledge and confidence you have shared with me and many others over the years. Thank you sir!
Awesome review, great examples and great way to compare between A7III and Canon 6D Mark II ... - that was the video I was looking for... keep up your great work ... great channel...!
Holy mackerel!!!! Knocked it out of the park and then some!! I love the reviews you guys put out and the amazing production quality. Mr. Eckert well done sir!!! And Mr. Polin BRAVO!!! I can always count on top notch quality on your channel!! I have to watch it again!!
Purchased today, watched this as I deciding if im going to pickup the online order from Bestbuy. Probably will after watching this...what memory to buy???
Hey Michel! Not sure if it's something you be interested in but we just posted a little cinematic unboxing of our a7iii. Never really filmed an unboxing so would be cool to get some feedback!
This video was so fun to watch. Honestly might be the best video you guys have done, along with the typewriter photo story. Utilize that music and it makes it such a fun ride to tag along with you guys!!
I know everyone is going to complement the wonderful review, the great b-roll, and the thoughtful attention to detail. But I have to add - the music was wonderful. It complemented the video well, wasn't over-used, and was well placed throughout to help bring interest where needed. That's an attention to detail often lacking on RUclips (including in my own videos).
Bokeh Market ah THANK YOU! People underestimate how difficult it is to pick quality tracks and time them right. It takes me DAYS to find the right music
Ha yeah, in addition to my photography videos, I have another channel that's sports related. And I've done a few highlight videos. Understanding musicality, selecting the right tracks for what sort of emotion or information you're trying to impart, phrasing, and even the right audio levels are all little things that viewers benefit from and enjoy - but have no idea the work that went into it. Combine that with the challenge y'all have of trying to get copyright free music - and the whole thing is a huge undertaking. This is one of the first videos I've seen in the photography space where I really noticed all those things I mentioned. Usually, in review videos, if the viewer doesn't notice music then it's a good thing. Conversely, if the viewer DOES notice the music, it's for all the wrong reasons. In this video it was the opposite - I recognized the music, and it was because it was so good.
Longest review I've seen, but also the BEST review I've seen so far in general. It flowed from one scene to the next like a documentary. Lots of videos nowadays I actually skip around to find where the people talk about a product, but this one is full of information, personal input, and real life experience. Great job, Jared and the team! Hopefully someday I can learn from you to make videos like this!
Great job. You answered a number of questions I had. You also brought to light a few things I had not even thought to consider. The video was also entertaining and put together well. Thank you guys.
I just got into Sony with the A7iii, I gotta say this along with your other videos on it have BY FAR helped the most! thanks for taking the time to go through the cameras paces so thoroughly!!!
Awesome review, guys. B-roll and transitions are awesome, Stephen. This is a quality review of the camera! It almost makes me wanna switch.... almost...
Wow. This is far and away the best review I've seen, even though all the reviewers had only the same things Sony set up to shoot. Really informative, and I especially appreciate that this is all useful answers about how the camera is to SHOOT, rather than specs and charts or whatever else. Thank you!
I love the shot of all the photographers. I was at an event recently and showed up later than I wanted to. However all the other photographers were already setup and i was very limited on where i could shoot. I remembered this shot and started shooting them and I loved the results. Thank you!!
#crushedit !!!!!! One of the best Real World Reviews(tm)! You guys have done I think. Really have to consider this, Sony has come a long way I think. And have to say here Stephen deserves the Oscar for Editing !!!
I must say this review takes the cake as your best camera review to date (I've watched most, if not all, of them). Also, a HUGE shout-out to Stephen Eckert for the serious B-roll segments!! I heard that you worked a TON of hours getting this put together, and it shows. I feel you surpassed anything else you've done with this edit!!
Im looking to buy my first professional camera for music video filmmaking and your review sold me on this camera. A few of my friends suggested it and i was comparing different ones and definitely decided on this. This is such a dope efficient well edited review i subscribed instantly.
I currently use a Sony A6000 that has gone through all kinds of stuff (including drops and getting beach splashes on it) for more than two years. While it doesn't look brand new, it still works like new. DH would tell you that it can survive me, it can survive just about anything. Still - am saving up the A7iii.
Terrific ,well executed presentation! I am that new comer that you spoke of at the end of your video with light experience with the 6d and I am very excited for the A7III Thank you for all your effort in this video
Great review. I am looking at the a7 III and a7r III. You gave me some things to consider. I don't do portraits or video at this time, mainly shooting landscapes and city life. Since I am just entering the Sony Platform, it is probably better to go with the a7 III and spend the savings on one good lens, like the 24-70 f/2.8. Until I get comfortable, I have my Fujifilm to fall back on for those times when I need that 100-400mm length. Thanks, Jared, for the review and I always enjoy your critique on the various camera's and lenses.
I finished the whole review! I’ve been watching a lot of reviews lately about this camera and this is one right here is the most in depth of them all! 😁👍
I'm new here, and delighted to find Jared's camera reviews. Informative, technical, entertaining as hell. Wow! Count me a new subscriber! Thanks for sharing your photography smarts!
Great review of the a7iii! I definitely prefer 'real world' reviews over a bunch of fake scenarios that will never really happen. Thanks for the insight Jared!
dude, i love reading ken rockwell's reviews on stuff. always my go to when researching new gear. digging your reviews as well while i research for my dive into the mirrorless world. you've already won me over by saying ISO the correct way.
Awesome video. I am shooting with a Canon 5D Mark iii and am not super thrilled with the inconsistant AF with my Sigma lenses. This video is a few years old and I am considering the A7iii .... still relelvent or should I save my $$$ a purchase something newer?
I have to say this was a flawless video review man. There are so many positives in this camera it don't makes since. I don't care that much about the flipping screen to not like this camera. For a price point of 2,000 bucks and what you are getting, there is no way you shouldn't be satisfied
Thank you Jared, for your very thorough review. Yours was the last of about a half dozen reviews I've watched in the past couple hours and I have to say, I'm glad I watched yours last! I avoided it because in the last few videos I've watched that you've put out (roughly a year or so ago) I didn't like the amount of negativity you had about various subjects. I absolutely love honesty, but in that time frame I'm speaking of, when you had an opinion about something, it didn't matter how gold plated the other thing was, if you liked what you already had, the other thing got poo poo'd. Now, moving forward to this review, I see that though you're still very similar, you've grown in your delivery of your opinions. I get that everyone has their own opinion, and, I get that people go to the people that will enforce their own opinion. This review leaves me not knowing whether you're a Sony guy, a Nikon/Canon/something else guy, it left me feeling that Sony put this equipment in your hands and you gave your honest opinion about its strengths and its weaknesses, delivered in a very neutral way, so THANK YOU! I've known all along that you know what you're doing, you know your equipment, and you know what's important. I got exactly what I needed to know out of this review! I've been struggling for a while now on deciding between the A7Rii and this A7iii. I'm mostly a landscape guy, but I have a career that isn't photography, so owning several different camera models just isn't practical or in my budget. $2000 is pushing my budget, but if something seemed worth that much, I'm willing to drop that amount. So with that said, when I'm asked to shoot a friends wedding, shoot a track event, or any other event that isn't landscape/astrophotography, I want to make sure what I upgrade to can do them all, but most importantly the landscape side of things. I love how you used this camera, and then shared the images taken, doing a variety of genres. That was very helpful! I also liked how you described how you were using the camera, and the various features. As I said before I know you know what you're doing, so if something wasn't as you thought it should be, I knew you'd let it be known in your review, and you did. I also liked how you didn't do what every .. single .. other reviewer did, and complain that this still image camera didn't have all the video camera features that you'd like it to have! I'm a current A7 and A6000 owner, so seeing this camera in action seemed very familiar. I'm in the upgrade mode because I got swamped doing a waterfall shoot, on an ocean beach, while the tide was coming in, on an elevated rock, and a larger than (what had been coming in) normal wave came in and soaked myself and the camera. It still functions (mostly) but I've lost functionality of one of the back dials and one of the buttons only works roughly half the time that it's pushed. So again, thank you for an excellent review, I'm definitely going to go with this A7iii! If you were paid for this, I hope they paid you handsomely, because you deserve it! For what it matters, you regained a RUclips follower for sure!
Just don't make a newbie mistake of spending almost all your money on the camera and you're only left with a kit lens. Spend the money on the lens. I don't even have that many lens for my two cameras but I have over 3x invested in lens over the bodies. Lens matter more than the camera.
+SerenityPhotos OMG! You're telling me a prime lens produces better photos than an F4 zoom lens? GTFOH! Oh wait......everyone already knows that prime lens are better than zoom lens in image quality, especially a lens that's not even an F2.8.
I never comment. Long time lurker. I think this is probably one of the best reviews you have put together. Currently Shoot the Leica SL. Which I just sold, looking to get into a slightly lighter system. A7rIII is probably the best option without giving up to much.
This whole video (not just 21:45) is a real feast for the eyes (and ears)! Impressive review, and great photos and videos...and I like the music as well! Oh yeah...and it's informative, which is probably most important.
I think I'm gonna wait a year and see what Nikon does. If by that time I've outgrown my D750 and they haven't announced something with video features that are attractive to me, I'll jump ship.
It's going to be interesting for sure. Competition is never bad, I hope this spurs Canon and Nikon into action to make something really great, that way we all win.
Whats wrong with a DSLR? I do not understand the mirrorless craze, they are no smaller after you put an adapter on and if you were to mount big glass say 500mm you have nothing to hold on too wuth the toy size body
8 months later. Nikon delivered a (more expensive) competitor that almost keeps up. Canon delivered a (more expensive) big turd that is quite honestly an insult to all Canon users and Photographers. Life comes at you fast, I feel even better about my purchase though.
Listened to daily fro this morning obviously great work Jared, but also great work Stephen, you guys are a pretty special team at this point. I’m really gunning for you all to take the next step whatever that may be, I feel I’m watching on the edge of something very special which is about to happen. From mark still walking that dog in the English hills :)
I work in an electronics store and I’ve never had a real camera before in my life so I never knew how to sell cameras to customers if I were ever in that department, but your videos help me learn so much about all of the cameras we have in stock.
Your last point is always my fear with Sony.... Will it last? I've had two Sony cameras that were great out of the box, but failed rather quickly. Sony's customer service is a joke, and their repair service is even worse. There are a lot of things I really like about the a7 III, but you know what they say, twice bitten.... I think I'm going to wait 6 months and see how this camera is still performing before taking the plunge. For now, I'll stick with my Fuji Xt2.
I’ve been waiting so long for this! Thank you so much for making awesome tutorials and reviews like this one it really helps me out in my search for upgrading.
Love the real world reviews. What would be awesome is if in the description because these are longer we could get time stamps. This would be super helpful for referencing.
This camera looks awesome. What do you suggest, buying this camera or the Canon 80D with more lens. I want to start a professional career. I already have a semi pro Sony camera but no extra lens. Thanks
i got to admit, this is one hell of a great video! this will sell some units for sure. I'm already a sony fan boy. a7rii. but this looks so tantalizing. but i want to wait for the a7siii before i choose a new cam.
Jared, from all videos this is my favorite. So much useful information, thank you very much!!! Nice pics, great/fantastic video, music is right...list go on!!! Good work man!!!
Thumbs up for "Real World Reviews"!!!!
Jared you should put up some I Shoot RAW shorts/pants in your shop one day :)
Jared Polin - I’m going full frame soon and your Chanel is my go-to for all things photography related.
A big and heartfelt thank you for all that you do✌🏻
I have the underwear on right now!

Stephen crushed this edit - such a good Real World Review! Well done!
Fake scenarios like ballet dancers in a rain fall?
As always very helpful and informative review, I really learnt a lot from that! Thank you so much Jared! God bless and good luck!
"I like to be able to touch other things than myself" loooool epic!
Ahhahahha. I lafff to that tooo.
dude, i love reading ken rockwell's reviews on stuff. always my go to when researching new gear. digging your reviews as well while i research for my dive into the mirrorless world. you've already won me over by saying ISO the correct way.
Excellent review! Worth the wait. The production values of you and your crew's content is 2nd to none.
Thanks!
I agree with everyone else, this is the best review for the A7III.
Awesome video. I am shooting with a Canon 5D Mark iii and am not super thrilled with the inconsistant AF with my Sigma lenses. This video is a few years old and I am considering the A7iii .... still relelvent or should I save my $$$ a purchase something newer?
OK, A YEAR Later where are we? Does the NIKON Z6-7 even compare?
The Sony A7III still kicks arse eighteen months on.
I have to say this was a flawless video review man. There are so many positives in this camera it don't makes since. I don't care that much about the flipping screen to not like this camera. For a price point of 2,000 bucks and what you are getting, there is no way you shouldn't be satisfied
Would like to know the very first background music
Excellent review as always you need to get back on these reviews! You do some of the best ones we can found on RUclips! Keep up with the good job 👍🏻
Great review! The editing was top-notch!
I will be buying this as my first camera, super stoked!
Creative.kontent nice!
Same here !
Damn nice choice for first camera
Man the production quality of your videos has gotten even better (how is that even possible?) 👌😊
The production values are insane...love the video and the review combined...
I never comment. Long time lurker. I think this is probably one of the best reviews you have put together.
Currently Shoot the Leica SL. Which I just sold, looking to get into a slightly lighter system. A7rIII is probably the best option without giving up to much.
Well I decided to shoot with Canon and Sony so I will be purchasing the A7 3 thank you for all your information I sat through the whole thing
Great vídeo! At 6:28 what focus area did you use, Wide? What are your focus settings for this kind of photo? Thank you so much in advance...
This whole video (not just 21:45) is a real feast for the eyes (and ears)! Impressive review, and great photos and videos...and I like the music as well! Oh yeah...and it's informative, which is probably most important.
thanks man!!!
Thanks for the reply, and keep up the amazing work!
Gotta say Jared, very well put. Nice to hear the detailed info, direct and to the point without a lot of repetitive "noise".
I think I'm gonna wait a year and see what Nikon does. If by that time I've outgrown my D750 and they haven't announced something with video features that are attractive to me, I'll jump ship.
8-12 months is what i'm saying. Ran into the same issue at the time of the d2xs and bam, D3 hit.
Man!!! U have always inspired me! 💪... again. great job brother
So its been a year what do you say???
very nice review btw what are you using on top of your camera at 13:55 ?
Best review of A7III by far!
I agree
I’ve been waiting so long for this! Thank you so much for making awesome tutorials and reviews like this one it really helps me out in my search for upgrading.
Love the real world reviews. What would be awesome is if in the description because these are longer we could get time stamps. This would be super helpful for referencing.
Wow! You got some pretty awesome shots! Even though the a7iii is now 3 or 4 years old I would still buy one!
Great insight also, awesome B roll, really kept that narrative rolling. Thanks for the comprehensive review!
This camera looks awesome. What do you suggest, buying this camera or the Canon 80D with more lens. I want to start a professional career. I already have a semi pro Sony camera but no extra lens. Thanks
i got to admit, this is one hell of a great video! this will sell some units for sure. I'm already a sony fan boy. a7rii. but this looks so tantalizing. but i want to wait for the a7siii before i choose a new cam.
there is the a7s, a7sii and hopefully soon a7sIII. its high sensitivity super low light model.
Best a7iii review on RUclips. Great job guys.
Nice cam , but can't replace my D750. I simply love it.
Jared, from all videos this is my favorite. So much useful information, thank you very much!!! Nice pics, great/fantastic video, music is right...list go on!!! Good work man!!!
