What is happening?! Today things get a little dicey at the worksite. I'll walk you through exactly what went wrong and how we chose (again) to overcome.
Man this brings back memories, I still remember so many times I told my guys one thing and they proceeded to do the exact opposite, then I need to go drink a coffee and come back so I don’t say things I’ll regret later But you also had a great customer they are not always so forgiving
I love it big dawg . Omg I love to hear the construction stories. I am a jack of all master of none and hearing about your hiccups on the job is my learning experience. Great video thank you.
Luckily, we have not had a day like that since or I’d have to quit. Our job is business owners is to get to the root of those problems and make them go away.😉
Great video Mark, great to see how you manage and deal with these situations whilst keeping an eye on the bigger picture ! Can't wait for the next one, let's hope you can show the team getting better and learning from these mistakes (we've all made them !) 👍
praying for you... patience is definitely tested especially when working in the sun and with a full schedule and needing to move along. I have gone through some of these same things with my company
Great job mark with every mistake they make and having them correct them and explaing well like you do what went wrong, you are sharpening your team and making them better everyday. But I do feel ya I can be tough 💪🏻 Like comment and subscribe 👍
And that, my friend, is why I only have me and 1 or 2 very experienced guys on my crew, and I oversee everything that is happening. We have 24 jobs in line and I'm making very good money and my customers are all happy. I'm OCD and it pays off.
That’s a catch 22 though, the minute you’re not there or your income stops completely. Trying to find the balance between this video and where you’re at is my goal.
@@SuccessfulContractorif you had a foreman that could oversee stuff you wouldn't have to be there and it would still get done right. The "green crew" without leadership is the issue.
Pretty sure Florida laws are the same in texas for trees (house a has tree that falls on house b house b is responsible for it) with that being said it’s perfectly legal to cut your neighbors tree that is protruding into your yard
No concrete here. It only aids in the rot. We try not to use wood in the ground at all but if we do, we use the same fill that comes out of the hole if at all possible to slow the rotting process. Sand easily achieves the same compaction or better when tamped back into the hole. With that said, we drive almost everything.
@@SuccessfulContractor what kind of sand do u use ? I’m a wood fence contractor who digs 24 inches and uses “ what’s known to be common “ 80 lb concrete but I’ve been seeing your work and know you have many years of experience I only have like 2 years doing fences. Open for better solutions
Why would you use wood posts instead of steel posts? What a huge waste of money. Steel is code in most areas nowdays because it doesnt rot or blow over as easily. This will have to be redone much sooner than if it was steel
Hmm, I'm not a fence builder, but I am a homeowner, and that leads me to believe that the reason they didn't build the fence using steel posts is, for the simple reason, the homeowner wanted them to use wood posts 🙄 ~DERP 🤪
How does a "fence" contractor not know you cannot properly tamp a 3 foot deep post hole in one shot? I wonder how many of this guys fences have voids around the base of the posts? I guess "Successful" does not mean quality. Also how do you have a crew that doesn't know who is in charge? Green crew sure but no experienced "Lead"? Oh and each state has there own laws for building, vehicles, and pretty much everything else. How in the world did they not know that but go around and tell people how to run their business all over the country? LOL is this a contractor parody channel?

I want to turn this into a distant memory.
Without a doubt, the best real life content. Problems, solutions and not nearly as much crying as I expect to do, soon. Thank you again.
Glad you enjoy it!

Even though it was a rough day you ended up with a beautiful fence! Nice job! 👍👍❤️
Thanks! It definitely pushed me to my limit. I hate to say that I’m glad those individuals have gone on to bless other people with their talents.

The only thing worse than digging a post hole is digging up a post hole.
And we did it multiple times 🤦♂️
Dang, im almost 50 and never even rode in a plane 😢 unlike me...time flies 😂
Nice vid. Starting out is tough!
That’s an understatement 😬
Had some setbacks but Job looks great SWI Florida team
Yes it was a struggle but we aren’t about to make our customers pay the price for our issues.

Yeah but you're stuck at there. You cant scale because you cant be everywhere at once.

I think that falls into “air rights”
