If you see Avacyn in the opponents command zone and you let them ramp quick enough to cast her and THEN cast planar cleansing, that's on you. You saw the forecast and didn't bring your jacket.

False, not everyone running Avacyn does field wipe. My Avacyn commander deck is built as a token army, where she denies enemy removal.

When playing angels makes you go to hell.
I used to play Mono White Angels, with this exact deck, then decided to build Liesa, so went Orzhov angels and just took what I needed from Avacyn. Then I decided to build Kaalia, and took my cards from Liesa. It turned itself into a monstrosity. I had almost every Lilliana in the deck. Honestly, it was a stupid build, but fun to play.

Oh dont play avacyn. Play nevinyrral, urborg tyrant. He is literally boardwipe tribal. Get zombies for each creature you swept up from a board wipe and guess what? He is also a board wipe on dyung so dont forget to have an instant speed sac outlet and leave up a single mana to hold the game hostage to your demands. Dont forget to pack reanination spells so you can kill him, reanimate and get an army back for your efforts. Play his disc for extra flavour points. Oh also as an extra note he only cares about creatures dying not if they are creature tokens or not. Meaning if you have an sac outlet and murder all of your zombies then flicker nevinyrall you get them all back and potentially more if this is not the first time you did it.
I will warn you tho he is as much of a bastard commander as you think he is and will most likely cause misery (but if thats your intention by all means go for it. Have him as your scary "thats it im bringing board wipe tribal out" commander that you scare your fellow players into playing nice

I know this is more for a bit than it is a actual deck construction video but as someone who also hates himself by playing a mono white commander I would be admissed to not give some recommendations.
1. Lean into land sac/bounce: cards like Lotus Field, Karoo, and Guildless Commons are really powerful when paired up with cards like Weathered Wayfarer, Cartographer's Hawk, and Archaeomancer's Map.
2. Alt/repeatable Win-cons: Worldslayer, Pariah, and Angel of Destiny are all game enders with only a little board presents required for a win.
And finally 3. The only "good" card draw in white: Mangara, the diplomat, Loran of the third path, Platoon Dispencer are all repeatable and in my opinion the best draw (also Esper Sentinel if you have the cash)

Ever since i started playing my Avacyn deck i was amazed with how many different things my opponents magically had to make use of to remove her from play. From making me have to sacrifice her, making her -X/-X, to literally bouncing her to my hand. i was only able to make Worldslayer connect twice but that was out of twenty games where at least in fifteen of them most of the time i board wipe, i also got effected. The problem i was having was more Avacyn has no redundancy for what she does and the entire deck is reliant on her being on my field. My favorite was my opponent gaining control of my commander (until end of turn) then sacrificing her.
I love Avacyn for a lot of reasons, but I love that Magic gives you so many options - especially with all the tools in Commander that you get - for dealing with a creature that should be an effective win the game button by being able to play her. You can use something like Banishing Light/Leyline Binding/other gay baby jail cards to remove her, any exile removal, -x/-x, forced sacrifice, bouncing to stop her momentum entirely, and - the bane of any commander creature - taking control of them, especially with blue's permanent take control effect, because there's not an easy way to get her back (not even an aura to remove sometimes...) I know there's a lot of rules lawyering in Magic that results from it having such strict logic but I think that the creative methods of removing her makes even losing while piloting her feel like "yeah you earned the win".
I think boardwipe tribal is probably the least interesting way to play her, but it's mildly funny and effective so it takes off. But in terms of creature design I find her fascinating, she's an 8 mana "i should win the game from here" card, but despite her protection of your board there's still lots of potential counterplay
As for redundancy you could add the artifact from new phyrexia block that makes artifacts indestructible. Also there's an angel that sacs to give your creatures indestructible. Also several 1-2 cost white creatures that sac to make 1 creature indestructible. Sorry I don't remember the names.
I just play big thick angels and leave the worldslayer or never-whatevers disk as a sub plot with a few tutors to get it like quest of the holy relic. If they see quest for the holy relic, and just let it happen, they deserve everything they get. I am telegraphing a turn 10 win on turn 2....
You gotta run a couple of the equipments that give hexproof. Avacyn makes them indestructible and they make avacyn untouchable except for edicts or mass exile cards.
All im hearing is "my friends played sucky removal until they figured out "destroy target creature" is not the only way to remove something" i used to fear avacyn players till i figured out the exile is better than destroy

another example of why winds of abandon is THE best board wipe PERIOD. i just won a game 5min ago where everyone conceded after i played it. i had such a dirty bastard of a hand: heroic int, vanquish the horde, winds of abandon, and clever concealment.

In my Omnath Locus of All deck. I got both Avacyn and Privilege Position (because they got 3 color pips)
But having them both on the field makes your field nigh untouchable (outside of certain boardwipes like Farewell or Toxic Deluge)
Extinction event is a nice bord wipe that could deal with her. Kind of a coin toss in terms of how much your able to wipe but its nice removal with potentially huge collateral.
at last, return of the deck tech. Cant wait u doing the colossal dreadmaw as commander
I had her built. Always rule zero asked the table if they were fine with me playing her. Always told them to try and win as fast as possible before I Avacyned. Fun games always.
She's also super nasty in a Kykar Polymorph shell.

@@tonysmith9905Doesn't matter what her tier is, Rule 0 is objectively the cool thing to do. Prevents any drama from popping up in game. If your opponent is cool with it during Rule 0, they won't get mad at it when you play it.
Only time Rule 0 doesn't prevent drama is if someone is lying, and at that point why play with them?

Not to mention my newest Vintage deck is a t0 storm deck. Leyline of Antic.........PATION! drop some thopters, a few moxen, a Black Lotus, Dark Ritual, then finish it all off with Tendrills of agony and have a Flusterstorm to protect it just in case. I'll also probably have Spellbook in play and use mox sapphire to play Ancestral Recall while I'm at it.
All of that on your first turn at instant speed.

This video made me laught a lot. So I did as you asked.
I lowered my head and put the tip of my nose on my mouse. My lack of control made me click on the windows button, then lose the pointer in my second screen. I then double-clicked on a text, but the pointer wasn't on the "subscribe" text. As the pointer got closer, my hope grew but my nose wouldn't let me make little gestures with my mouse. It was when the pointer was in the middle of my screen that I gave it a sharp push so that, by magic (the gethring) , the pointer finally ended up on "subscribe".

I think the thing that sucks most about avacyn is that it doesnt say nonland permanents. It includes lands. You cant even hit the avacyn operator with the funny red plains destruction cards

I never play avacyn on curve. Everytime I do she is countered or exiled on entry.

I run Avacyn in my Calix deck. I cheat it out along with a couple other big creatures with Defense of the Heart. For extra fun. Duplicate defense with Calix
Most of my commander decks are giant stompy decks, but I did build a really oppressive douchy deck for situations like that, it's my Consuela deck. The general is Merieke Ri Berit. It only runs counter spells, draw spells, and things that untap Merieke. It's ironically my cheapest commander deck.

I have Avacyn in a deck that is basically plays all the "I can't lose the game" cards, loses the game, and then makes having lost the game someone else's problem. She's in there basically to keep people from straight removing my protection when I have negative life.
One player lands a spell to remove Avecyn from the field before that Planar Cleansing resolves and you are gonna have a bugger of a time rebuilding while the rest of the table is now entirely well aware of your plan.

What if I use Avacyn just to protect my permanents without the unholy strategy of board wipes? I use it in a 5 color commander deck simply to make it difficult to slow down my mid speed strategy. It doesn't protect against exile or an ability that returns things to the hand, but card destruction is far more common, so this greatly helps protect my cards that pin down my opponent. Its still a nasty strategy, but its not the overused board wipe combo this card is well known for.

This is why i play vintage black removal decks. It says indestructible not immune to sacrificing though. Killing wave would do. An editct would also do if its the only creature on their board.

I agree. Far better to run slivers and make Sliver Hivelord your commander. Then grab the sliver that gives all slivers shroud.
I play Avacyn, but mostly has Angel tribal and to help me keep key pieces in play and without MLD
Add Worldslayer to the deck for repeatable board wipe stick that your "friends" can waste removal on :D
That's why I play Kwain with Angels: more card draw, counterspells and better instants. Plus all the big stompy Angels for late game clean up

Doesn't say like wrath of God still destroy your creatures cuz it's non-targeting? Or did that get fixed? Cuz last I checked/heard that was a thing.
You know what’s even more fun? When they throw in circle of protection white and red so you can’t take it off the battlefield at all.
I made something like that with a banisher priest idea ( exile and board wipe) and if that's bad you gotta make a video talking smack about poison decks please I know you'll make it hilarious
Serra's emissary doesn't do anything about counterspells though so the blue players are the only ones who can do anything about them. Also rebuff the wicked is a trap, just run another protection effect instead, since it does the same thing but better.

Let us not forget cards and boardwipes that put creatures on the bottom of their library or turns them into trees, lands, etc causing them to lose their abilities. You can also force them to be shuffled into the library. Many of these options can be done at instant too to save you while other people suffer.

Every time in reponce to a bord wipe Avacyn would ether be bounced, exiled or the wipe got countered.
One game in responce to the wipe 1 player teferis protectioned, another act of treasoned Avacyn and I flashed in a stunt double so only his board blew up.
don't forget, nevinyrral's disk doesn't sacrifice itself to use, it destroys itself as part of the wipe. ..unless it doesn't!
