Keep in mind that Graham was sitting on that favor throughout the game, every time Jimmy started a dictate chain he could have called in that favor to save his boardstate, instead he just takes it, bides his time, flies under the radar, top decks the right card at the right time and wins like a boss.
a little late but jimmy doesn't owe graham a favour anymore when he decided to destroy that library-to-graveyard card (yes, i forgot the name). a favour would mean letting jimmy activate that ability when he wants to, not destroying that card and forcing jimmy to activate the ability that turn. graham even stated his intention to go back on his word in post which would be obvious to me if i was playing as jimmy. i would have done the opposite and swung at graham that turn when jimmy said he was returning the favour cause graham broke the deal first.

graham destroying the hermit druid was on the stack then jimmy activated its ability in response. this means jimmy was forced into using that ability at that moment, not when he wanted to. jimmy didn't use the hermit druid to mill again. my previous comment was correct and i shall clarify. i meant he should have punched graham with the gitrog monster instead of kathleen cause graham broke the deal of Allowing (Not forcing) 1 mill.
@@alvachan88 it was never about him using it when he wanted to but to just use it once, and he knew it would happen this way even if he hoped it would not be killed on that turn so he could get 2 activations when the deal was for 1.

That "As a favor..." may just be the greatest ending to Game Knights ever :D
even after more than a year, this is still one of my favourite Game Knights episodes. First of all because your guests from LRR are just great. In addition, this is definitely one of those games that took an insane amount of swings and turns.
This episode is definitely my favorite too! It's so iconic (and hilarious)
Also just the Hermit Druid activation is gold
And Jimmy lost in the most black mage way possible. He lost to hubris more so than anything else, essentially beating himself.
I've watched a lot of episodes this month and this one is easily the best by a long shot.
A few have come close at points but this episode was peaking from turn one.

Every once in a while, I have to come back to this video and remember that if Bear Force One could do it, so can I.
This match gave me so much respect for Josh, everyone went for him from the very beginning and he kept a positive attitude and did his best to help Graham. I really enjoyed watching him play, don't see why he was targeted so heavily.
He missed an Ur Trigger when Morophon attacked tho, that coulda been significant with all the fatties in his deck

He'd drawn a ton of cards, had a ton of mana and could play things at instant speed. His position could get out of hand very quickly.

I love how Josh and Kathleen’s dying wish was for the bear deck to win as they tried their hardest to make that dream a reality. Bear Force #1 is so iconic for me and some of my friends.

3 years later, and this is still up there with the first fan episode as the best episode of game knights ever
I’ve rewatched this saga many times. That early deal for a favor, that major falling behind by Graham, the ignoring of Graham by everybody else because they don’t think he’s a threat, Jimmy slaying everybody but Graham, Graham kicking Jimmy’s butt suddenly, Jimmy trying to commit suicide, and Graham cashing in that favor to let his shit deck finally do something good. It’s possibly the greatest underdog story I’ve ever witnessed.
Sorry, but it's not a shit deck. It's a bear deck. 🐻

Most of that is Gaea's Cradle though so if you just take that out its a lot more manageable

That flip at 13:40 for the prized Hermit Druid activation!!! Im watching this for the first time in end of 2021. These are the funniest guests next to the professor!! love it.
I’ve watched this at least 3 times in the year that it has been out and I love it, easily the most rewatch able episode of game knights.
When jimmy drew one card off his druid honestly I had to pause I was laughing for so long
This has to be my favourite game knights episode. So much chemistry between the players, and so much interaction. This is sadly quite rare in the later episodes
If something had protection from bears, pun aside, it would literally be Un-bear-able.
I see a story here more than anything else:
We have a pantheon of nature's avatars, an old primordial god of death, a man who sought to transcend death, and bears from across the land united under one mantra: "life & glory for bearkind, long may Ayula reign."
While Yawgmoth's forces swept across the land, The bear queen met a strange hermit. There were many hermits in the forests of her realm, and this one was no more suspicious, except that he seemed to be looking for something and felt strange. She considered eating the hermit for trespassing on her land and not showing proper respect to bears, as he seemed completely uninterested in her, but before her jaws could snap over his head the man spoke in quiet voice.
"You could grant me two favors. Life or death. In death, I get peace and you get a meal. But if you spare me my life, I promise you one favor. It doesn't matter what that favor is, it could be anything, and if I don't return the favor, you may eat me. Hell, you could eat me anyways. All I ask is that you give me one day of life."
Ayula cocked her head. A life for anything in return? AND I get to eat him afterwards? Seems like he gets what he wants, especially if I spare him and eat him later, but why not eat him now? Well... a bear can be curious. How bad could it hurt to let him live for a day?
Ayula accepted the deal and then she was off to challenge the gods of nature themselves. Then the hermit found something. What he found no one remembers, because shortly after he was eaten by bear, but all remember what happened afterwards.
Death and disaster spread across the land, killing undead and living, gods and mortals. The avatars of nature could sense an old acquaintance stirring underneath the earth and Yawgmoth diverted his attention from bears and gods to face a foe that he spent his whole life trying to defy: Death. After centuries of laying beneath the earth, Hogaak rose, and no one knew why except for the pantheon of nature that he used to be apart of.
The bears were decimated, Ayula fled her land as it became a battleground between Yawgmoth and Death itself. It was too much for her army to bear. The gods of nature, desperate to preserve life above all else and nearing their end, conceded that a world ruled by bears is ideal compared to the alternatives as they fought for their existence with lighting speed. They knew Hogaak simply wanted to see things live and die only to be brought back and die, and brought back again to die for eternity. He always hated reincarnation, the natural order, and simply wanted to see things die now and again rather than later. Witnessing death brought him peace. Yawgmoth, on the other hand, would create a world of unspeakable horror in his process of trying to overcome death and subvert everything that existed. Nature’s pantheon bought the tenacious bear queen some time with one final assault and the last of their fading lifeforce, and she slowly rebuilt her army in exile.
The battle between Yawgmoth and Hogaak was as impressive as it was devastating. Forces on both sides died, came back to life, and died more. As the land became increasingly scarred with vile magic, rapid growth of undead nature repaired the land like stitches, only to be decayed, blasted, and burned into oblivion. In the end, Yawgmoth fell to death, for death would never lose. Then, death looked to the side to bear witness. Ayula was back to reclaim her land and death was not impressed. Hogaak had never lost for millennia and an army of a thousand bears was a joke, even as he sat there scarred by Yawgmoth's work. With swords from their fallen forebears, the army of bears broke past his last defenses even as he revived them. They fought against undead plants and even the worms themselves crawled out from dirt walls inside his tomb to stop them, but soon enough they were face to face with Hogaak.
Hogaak, being nature's avatar of death, refused to die at the hands of anyone outside his domain and prepared to will himself out of existence. However, Ayula felt she recognized something. She remembered how that strange hermit felt just by looking into Hogaak’s sockets...
Then she spoke.
"You were the hermit I made that deal with, weren't you? How about I cash in that favor? I did let you live for a day, afterall."
"...Go ahead."
"I would like to eat you a second time. You were quite tasty."
And so, that is how the queen of bears ate death twice without biting the dust.

I don't know how many times I've watched this game, but the Hermit Druid whiff is STILL FUNNY! Every time. Sorry Jimmy.

This was definitely the most exciting and fun game of magic I have ever seen
I really want to build Bear Force One and also Bear Force Two. Both of these episodes have been so much fun.
This is one of my favorite games to rewatch once and awhile

I know this was years ago, but for me, now, it was a Christmas miracle. ROAR.

The bear-force one deck is actually pretty good if he got all the combo pieces together
I made Bear Force 1 to celebrate Grahams big brainness and his clutch on 1 hp. THE MAN LITTERALLY WAITED UNTIL EVERYONE WAS DEAD AND HE SWOOPED IN AT 1 HP AND WON! And even though Jimmy kinda threw he still needed to calculate blockers.
And Jimmy. Math is for attackers AND blockers.
That insert shot of Kathleen and Josh at 1:29:05 is the perfect audience surrogate. Man this episode was great.
