I absolutely love this song and Tracy Chapman. I think the both of you would also love her song (talkin’ About A Revolution). She’s such a beautiful singer and songwriter.❤️✌️🌼
Tracy is a bad ass! Well respected musician/person. She's also a social activist, humanitarian. Great singer, guitarist. She plays blues rock, soul rock and folk rock, too. Many of her music yall hear on radio and tv, movies and commercials. She's won tons of awards over the years. She had many hit songs and videos during the '80s, '90s, and '00s. Check out more of her stuff!
Wife here...I.Remember when she hit the scene...Amazing Vibe and Voice.!!.ABSOLUTELY..,!! I had this on Cassete tape.., and wore it out!!..Love the line.."Don't want no one to squeeze me., they might take away my life"..Total Blues influence!!.."Sultry and Powerful"!!..Perfectly stated!!
Amazing talent. Tracy Chapman was nominated for several major Grammy awards related to this song. She did win Best Rock Song for this. Totally love this!
All her songs are very simple, but it's the kind of simple that comes from being exceptionally gifted and talented such that she doesn't need a lot of flashy extras for the song to be amazing. Brilliant
From Wikipedia: Chapman earned the Grammy Award for Best Rock Song for the track, and it was also nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Female Rock Vocal Performance at the Grammy Awards of 1997.
Tracy, IS a vibe. What a great talent. Love me some Tracy Chapman. She came on the scene HARD, when I was a freshman in HS, back in '87-'88. This was during the 80's hair band, Rock, & early hip hop days. To have a folksy/blues/singer-songwriter song, like Fast Car, breakthrough so hard, speaks to how powerful her talent is. Please listen to Tracy's, "Baby Can I Hold You", next. It's SO beautiful, and SO soulful. Please, trust me...SO much passion in this one. Thanks. ✌🏼♥️
@@your_huge_ego_bores_me yes, the vocal is both compelling and loaded with infectious style. Delivered in her patented effortlessness and honesty. Great pitch control without autotune. Silky. Uplifting. Quality. Would have been a big hit outside of the nineties - a natural for the 80’s, 70’s, 60’s, maybe even the 50’s. Not sure with the lowest common denominator pop of today. They’d surely engineer every last drop of authenticity out with hand clap and/or finger snap loops, absurd computer driven drum machines that sound nothing like drums played by a human with sticks, compressed to death and clipping distortion, autotuned to robotic effect, and everything else the nitwits with computers do to destroy the life and musicality today. We need more real artists/ musicians like Tracy and others in the past. And less or no more nitwits with computers whose only job is to make everything sound the same - boring, without soul, without blues, without edge.
Tracy Chapman is a great singer-songwriter & storyteller. Have always loved her unusual voice. She is best known for her hit singles "Fast Car", "Talkin' 'bout A Revolution", "Baby Can I Hold You", "Crossroads" & "Give Me One Reason".
LOVE TRACY CHAPMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got two of her CD's!!!! Love her words...her voice...Love her voice!!!! I request you guys to react "Rivers Wash Over Me," by Tracy Chapman.
I totally agree guys, Tracy makes you feel what she's singing. Enjoyed your reaction and comments! And Asia, you just crack me up😂 BJ was messing with you and you set him straight! Ya'll are a great couple! Just love the way ya'll Interact with each other❤
Asia & BJ, paving the way for Tracy was Joan Armatrading. You'll love her "Love And Affection" ruclips.net/video/oag3I4VRXyM/видео.html , "Show Some Emotion" ruclips.net/video/WcVgAlVSArA/видео.html , and many more. One of the few people I've seen in concert twice!
Saw Joan a couple times in Denver. Sleight of Hand is a great album...Kind Words (and a real good heart) excellent song. All her albums are great, there's a lot! Cheers
Tracy Chapman's voice and music is always relaxing to me. I have turned her music on many evenings after a stressful day. Thanks for the reaction. I love seeing Asia feeling a song. Man that smile. Love you guys ❤️
Yep, “Talking About A Revolution” should logically be the net TC reaction you guys do… enjoy the journey. She’s got great folksy bluesy tunes, and oh that voice!
I have been drawn to her voice since this was released and I agree her voice it's so smooth, she wouldn't have to ask me more than once to stay, just let know when I need to go I like all the work that I have heard of Tracy's.. GREAT REACTION 👍
She has this acapella song called "Through the Wall" that's heartbreaking. Also, "Across the Lines". She's part of the reason I have tried to always question my prejudices since I was 8. I fight not to see color because while I come from interracial parents (& saw once-twice my Asian father express anger over experiences of racism) I was raised in the Midwest. There's plenty of underlying racism so I get sick to my stomach when I've heard/seen people I know behave with racist jokes/actions. I don't accept it from my husband, family, or friends because it's unworthy of my presence if they want to be that way. I can stop myself and explore my own issues, WHY can't others ask themselves why they behave badly?!
I can remember when I was 17, riding my bike from Detroit to Harperwoods at 3 a.m to hit up this 24 hour cafe. My friend and I had a battery operated radio/tape player that we attached to the handle bars with a bungee cord. This song was for sure on the play list we recorded off the radio stations. Its awesome how music brings back the memories.
A minister friend of mine says that everytime he sees me...if ain't nobody told you they love you today...I truly love you! Awesome! Appreciate you guys!
Good song. One of her others hits besides "Fast Car" is "Baby Can I Hold You" This was played a lot on the radio, and she is one of those artists that kept it real and raw.
I remember this from about 38 years ago, or more. I had the radio on and laying in bed reading and fell asleep, I heard this and it woke me. I loved it and just couldn't wait to hear it again. Her voice! Oh my! Just awesome. :)
She has the perfect voice for blues. Even though she isn't singing hard, her voice sounds powerful, like if she wanted to she could blow the roof off the house.
I absolutely love this song and Tracy Chapman. I think the both of you would also love her song (talkin’ About A Revolution). She’s such a beautiful singer and songwriter.❤️✌️🌼
That entire first record was such a classic.

If you love her voice and the blues feel in this song you really need to hear her and Buddy Guy doing Ain't No Sunshine, you will love it.
Yes please‼️💯
Tracy is far too underrated. I cannot sit still when I listen to her.

After, "Baby Can I Hold You"
you'll definitely wanna hear, "For My Lover".
Soulful, passionate songs, truly.♥️
Just a simple structured blues rocker done to absolute perfection. Which is NOT so simple!!! Deservedly award winning song and album.

The Promise is another great song from that album.
The industry didn't give her the spotlight that she deserved! She was better than they thought she was!
They had no idea what box to put her in.
Tracy is the genuine article. She sings it from life.

Musically it's so simplistic. But in execution it's a perfect 10... And when someone does simple... perfectly...it's just FIRE!
Some artists are very enjoyable. Others are interesting. Still others are great. And then Tracy Chapman just gives me the chills of bliss every time.
Really, this whole album is worth a listen.
