    Abdul's insights into these performances always seem to hit the core meaning of the message of these songs. Even when he does not understand the language, he still seems to feel the human emotion behind it.

      And he was spot on stating Phil was a musician before he was a singer. Exactly as it happened. Peter Gabriel left Genesis, Phil stepped up and started singing as well. Abdul never ceases to amaze me.

    I've watched a few of these Tribal videos now. Can I assume that Abdul is a tribal elder? He sits there nodding quietly then comes out with the most sage insightful comments. It's a joy to watch.

    I have watched In The Air tonight and hear it on the radio over 100 times and no matter how many times I watch it or hear it, the moment Phil plays drums, I get chills and good bumps all over. I am glad everyone loved and seeing their reaction was priceless. Love and blessings to you all.

      I find, no matter how many times I watch this performance, I am holding my breath at the end. I don't realize that until the very end, when Phil releases the pressure and I can breath again! Amazing. (and such breath control Collins has to make it all seem so effortless)

    I saw Phil Collins in concert many years ago...and it was one of thee most fantastic concerts I had ever seen! I am so glad you all were able to experience his incredible music. As the gentlemen were reacting to what they were hearing and seeing, it actually brought tears to my eyes. Music is the bridge that allows us all to be as one! ❤

    You all appreciated a true legend! Life/time has not been kind to him physically, BUT HE HAS given us some if the GREATEST music from the 80s! His live performances with Eric Clapton would be worth looking at! God Bless ✝️🙏🏻

    He has said in interviews that he wrote this song while going through a divorce.

    Its amazing that Phil Collins is the only musician to play in the same concert in two different continents. He started the Live Aid concert in London then flew on Concorde to the US a d took part in the same worldwide concert tnere.

    *If anyone thinks the size of this crowd is impressive, in July 1987 Phil played four consecutive sellout nights at the 80,000-capacity Wembley Stadium with Genesis. It was a record at the time and stood for five years until Michael Jackson played seven nights. In 1986/1987 Genesis were likely the biggest musical act on the planet, as in addition to the four nights at Wembley their 1986 album 'Invisible Touch' went to No.1 in the US and spawned a remarkable five Top 5 US singles. This of course was also in the midst of Phil's incredible solo success.*

    "something is in the air tonight" means that you have a sense of impending doom. When he sang "coming in the air tonight" he means that the doom is imminent, he can feel it.

    I got to see Phil with Genesis twice on their Mama tour. Phil was an incredible showman, has a wonderful sense of humor, he was a great front man and vocalist and an astonishing drummer. His drums have a familiar "bark" and you could always tell when Phil was playing on a song on the radio in the 80s. He's 1 of 1.

    I almost skipped this one! I'm so glad I didn't! I loved the editing of this one, showing all three guests together at the end. The performance of Phil Collins and his band was spectacular. What a show! What a show! I loved everything about the video they watched, everything about the guests' comments and feedback, and everything about the editing (except for the closed caption covering up the video on the lower left).     The commentary / analysis / reactions from the Trybals is truly interesting - if not Priceless.They know so much about music and also have some idea of what it takes to pull off a intense live preformance.At the same time ,they speak from the heart and tend to show their emotions without much hesitation.They were clearly impressed with the preformance of Phil Collins but probably unaware of his time with Genesis.I would love to get their reaction to Genesis - Afterglow or Home by the Sea....Your Podcast are well produced and edited!
