This item takes out play in the linkage, so if you're bike has that, if the middle joint is sloppy.. then it would certainly straighten everything up and make it more direct.. you're issue could also just be adjustment of the linkage.. worth a look maybe!!

Nice....and so simple!! Gotta luv when the after-market folks one-up the original engineering! You look well, Del, hope you feel as good! Have a great weekend, and get out and ride if you still can!!
Hi Allen, from the research I did on this, I believe this mechanism was first invented by a guy from Canada, it was very similar at least, had a bronze bushing in the pivot and he made his from steel, but by the looks of it, China's got hold of them and they're now widely available, I sincerely hope the guy slapped a patent on it in time... weather's still fine here, single digit plus temperatures so not cold yet but I am looking forward to a snow ride this winter, haven't had a good one for years (although they do say, be careful what you wish for lol)... take care and keep safe over there, all the best, D&Px

Another that agrees with your message board Del. Excellent little mob mate. Hope you are both keeping well, have a relaxing weekend and take care. Cheers
Money well spent I’d say. Gotta love solutions to problems. Well done to the inventor! Santa is bringing me some spacers to firm up my sloppy throttle.
Great tip Del. I'll have to see how much play there is in the shift lever once my new (OLD, 1989) GL arrives in the spring. I'm sure I'll have much to learn about it in comparison to my '18 HD SG CVO! Thanks for the great content as usual! Pete
Sure thing buddy, being a flat six engine the transmission sits behind the engine, like a Porsche, so they need a huge long linkage and then the problems of all that extra flex!
Great bit of kit Del. Hopefully it should save you on maintenance costs further down the line and what a huge difference it makes. Thanks for sharing your inspiring vids always a pleasure to watch. Have a great weekend both. 🇸🇪🇬🇧😊👋🏻

Yo that piece where the shifter connects to the bike the tightening but keeps coming loose and the barrel arm connected to my shifter keeps pinging off. Any ideas how to fix this? Reckon it’s as simple as a spring washer?
Greetings Del. Nice bike. You should have given us a walk around. Certainly doesn't look like any wing I've seen. Question....Does the Honda gear shaft go directly (straight) into the engine, or does it connect to another set of links closer to the engine case? I'm still not sold on the secondary pivot point and the lifting of the original shaft. I may be missing something, but that flexing of the shaft looks like an invitation for premature seal failure. BTW...Do you sell shirts?
Hey there Joe... that's a common question, i showed the shaft moving without the support pivot so you can see that it doesn't rotate, but instead "sweeps" already.. it Doesn't go into the gearbox, it is not the output shaft.. but instead it goes in to a step off plate that then reaches forward by about an inch (the same distance as the support pivot), and then THAT splines into the actual output shaft itself... it's a bit like having a 9" wide peg on your boot lever, and hooking right out at the end of it.. This gadget brings the pivot point out to your boot cap and removes all the leverage from the system, saving both the seal and the output bearing behind it..! We do have a 'Spring' account for selling shirts yes, but it's currently down as they jacked up all their prices, and as we only topped £1.00 on top of each one, it meant we were selling them cheaper than their minimum... so we have to go through the account and rectify it all so they will list up on the site again.. should be done soon Sir... Thank you so much for your support. D&Pxx
@@Moonfleet41 Thanks for the detailed reply Del. I get it now. As for the shirts, I started off with Tspring and changed to Custom Ink. The ink work was heads above the rest. It may be worth a look, and I believe they have international service. Take care.
Thank you so much Joe, i have been looking to replace Tspring, they're way too expensive, and while the garments are good enough quality, the printing it pretty rough.. Ill give Custom Ink a look.!
I just bought one of these off eBay for my gl1500. After doing so I realized it is a “copy” of a more expensive brace, that has a bushing in it. Anyway, I see you also have the cheaper one without a bushing, like I purchased. How is it holding up? Can you still shift nice and smooth with it? Look forward to hearing back thanks.
We are in England, so im not sure who would sell them in NC, but i beleive they were invented by a guy in America, so im pretty sure they will be availble over there too.
I know Richard, sorry for that slip of standards, I will deal with it, but the inner heat shield means stripping the exhaust system off completely on that side so I'll deal with the edges next time I've cause to do that... not much time at the moment!
Been 2 years now, is that one you bought, that was the china one right?, working good still or do you think that paying the extra dough to the guy that actually invented it with a Bushing installed would be better? The original costs about 100.00 us. Please let me know, GREAT video by the way! really awesome and to the point.
I believe so, but can't be sure as I've never had hands on one in the garage and never taken particular notice of the gear shifter when I've seen them out, but if you check specification, if the seller lists one for your bike, then yes it'll be the same.
Nicely done, Del. Glad it worked out so well and made your shifting a lot more precise. Loved the Denzel quote! And what’s wrong with fairy lights? lol 🙄 Have a wonderful weekend- Dr. Dyson advises it’s getting chilly there… 🏍👍🏍
It is indeed Sir, low single figures now and the salt trucks are all locked and loaded, so it won't be long and hopefully I can take the Goldwing on a 'snow ride', which should be hilarious fun, sadly we don't get snow here very often, I've only had one or two decent snow rides in 10yrs, so really looking forward to it!
Ha ha Naah, it's a total blast, and makes a good rider of you... Of course, it was only maybe 6" of packed snow at best.. if we had snow like the Northern States or Canada get, then you're grounded for sure.!
Amazing brother love your videos they are really professionally produced with amazing clarity, thanks so much for all that you do to help us out. I have a question if I may ask, would that brilliantly engineered part work on my 1500 Interstate Gold Wing that has a heel toe shifter and foot board. And where can I order the part. Thanks very much. All the best, God bless. Peace!
Hello Rui, if you look closely at your heel toe mechanism, it'll still have that shaft going in between the two pipes under the cylinder head, the only difference with yours is that it'll have a different foot pedal, once you identify that shaft then, yes, that's where the mechanism fits and it'll eliminate all the play from your gear shifter which can actually be worse on heel/toe set ups...let me know if you have any problems, happy to guide you further... here's a link to the part: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304139268138
Thank you for your kind words, we are in England, so i would not know any garages in Miami that could help you. Maybe start with your local Honda dealer ?
Found it. But before diving in and buying one , did you get yours from a well known auction site?! Or somewhere else? I just wonder if there are quality ones but also cheaper copies which aren’t so good. Yours seems to work fine.
This was just a random seller on that site, top quality item and really happy with it.! no affiliation, just found it by searching.. Here's a link :- www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304139268138

Another great video Delboy, but hey, you should still be taking things easy especially moving that Goldwing around on the lift. You must look after yourself........................lol.
The sloppy gear shift was always irritating for me personally so good ol' Google provided a few suggestions and you know how it is, the wonders of the internet will eventually guide you to a good solution!
Hey Brother, after 3 days I only just got through laughing at your little dog with issues... that is the funniest sh*t I've seen in months!... and I was only playing your theme tune the other day, I may have to use it to open a video again soon... happy memories! Love & Hugs from D&Px
This bike is a '92 and they made great improvements on the 1800cc model which came out around 2001... it was never a 'fault' that got bad enough to cause problems, many owners happily live with the given freeplay, but me personally, I like a gear linkage that's more precise.
That gl1800 I said I bought.... Well got issues with 5th a year in 75k. Not happy. I thought they had sorted this out in the gl1800 series but now in the not the distant future I'm gonna need a transmission overhaul.
Mine's 92" so pretty much the same exact bike.. and yeah, it really improves the shifter action, it wasn't dire or flapping about all over the place, but almost 1/4" of free play is noticeable once you eliminate it..!
@@Moonfleet41 … Kwel… I was hoping put floorboards on mine but I’m short legs, which why I wanted sidecar but nothing local get one. You showed lots hints on Goldwing that helped me a lot. I can see why it didn’t get into the gear quick enough. Thank you for sharing!! Gonna get me one!!
@@Goldwing1500rider Good to hear that brother, and glad it could help, it does make a difference as you can see... and of course, if you're gonna run super high mileage in the future (if you haven't already!), then it takes all the stress off the output shaft bearing... here's a link to the one I bought, I think they're available worldwide: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304139268138
@@Moonfleet41 … I just bought mine from eBay !! 😁. Got 28,200 miles on it. I’m certainly know it’s going make difference in the shifting. I didn’t know shaft way under the Goldwing, 9 inches.. geez. I can’t wait to fix it. I agree would ruin bearing and seal . When I got the Goldwing, has 15,000 miles on it. I just lucked out in court ordered auction. Got it plenty cheap. I’m looking forward putting tons miles on it . Travel across state next summer
@@Goldwing1500rider That's good news, just a point to look out for, the welded thread that you bolt it to under the crash bar isn't necessarily always a perfect 90 degrees to the shaft (which it needs to be), I'm lucky mine was so bolted straight on, but if not, then when you bolt it on, you may find that it binds up on the shaft and becomes stiff to operate as the mechanism only needs to be held 1 degree out of alignment and it'll pinch... so if this is the case, you may have to just file the back of the mechanism very slightly to get it perfectly 90 degrees and make sure also that the mechanism doesn't foul on the weld on the crash bar.... you'll see when you look under there the crash bar welding's a bit clumsy, you may have to just grind that back if it's in the way.... again, I was lucky, mine wasn't but like all these little mods they sometimes need 'sympathetic fitting' to get them to work perfectly.
For 35 pounds….. Did you used the cheap knock-off stolen idea or the patented version designed by the inventor who is a small machine shop operator entrepreneur. You referenced what a great idea it was so I hope so. I enjoyed the video.

Delboy, love and respect your vids. Could you please explain tramlining please, my zx7r feels quite scary at times and I cant get my head round it, is it tyres, shocks etc. please help.
Unsupported torque pivot point? - surprised at any engineer, let alone Honda; must be a throwback to prior working etc. Now the gear lever won't clatter about (v.annoying) is the 'Cylon-Vader Wing' getting any extra lights for Chrimbo? : ) xx
I don't think it was a failing, the arc of the mechanism is quite secure, it's just a long metal linkage that puts stress on the output shaft bearing at high mileage, mine's only 64k, and high mileage on a Wing is 300k, so I'm really just compensating so it doesn't get worse later! Have a good weekend buddy.

Great mod Del, and an ingenious design. I know if I had a "wing" That looseness would drive me nuts. Enjoyed the vid, cheers and have a nice weekend!
Sure thing buddy it has been bothering me since I bought it, so glad I found this ingenious little device!
Great Video great job Del 👌👍
Thanks 👍
Where did you get the aftermarket linkage from please.
Random seller on eBay... "304139268138" !
Similar here on eBay - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304139268138
Same listing Chris !
Thanks For Sharing.
As Always, Fantastic Job.
Been 2 years now, is that one you bought, that was the china one right?, working good still or do you think that paying the extra dough to the guy that actually invented it with a Bushing installed would be better? The original costs about 100.00 us. Please let me know, GREAT video by the way! really awesome and to the point.
I assume this would work with the Valkyrie (2000 model year)?
I believe so, but can't be sure as I've never had hands on one in the garage and never taken particular notice of the gear shifter when I've seen them out, but if you check specification, if the seller lists one for your bike, then yes it'll be the same.
Can you send me a link for the kit to fix this problem. I'm going through it right now.
Nicely done, Del. Glad it worked out so well and made your shifting a lot more precise. Loved the Denzel quote! And what’s wrong with fairy lights? lol 🙄
Have a wonderful weekend- Dr. Dyson advises it’s getting chilly there…
🏍👍🏍
It is indeed Sir, low single figures now and the salt trucks are all locked and loaded, so it won't be long and hopefully I can take the Goldwing on a 'snow ride', which should be hilarious fun, sadly we don't get snow here very often, I've only had one or two decent snow rides in 10yrs, so really looking forward to it!
Ha ha Naah, it's a total blast, and makes a good rider of you... Of course, it was only maybe 6" of packed snow at best.. if we had snow like the Northern States or Canada get, then you're grounded for sure.!
I don't understand. Isn't that shaft supposed to only rotate? Does it swing around too?
Will the shifter buddy work on a 1500 Valkyrie too?
Where can I purchase the shifter support?
Goldwings!! Got to love em!! Got more plastic than Cher!!! Good mod though mate. 😎👍🏍
ha ha yeah but only slightly! And I know which one I'd rather strip down... Goldwings win every day!! ;-)
Do they make this for the GL1800 Goldwing?
I don't believe it's required as the mechanism on the 1800 is much upgraded, not an issue I've heard of with the later bikes.
Where do you get that peice??? I'm in Canada
Amigo conoces un buen taller en Miami para mí Goldwing GL 1200 LTD?? Gracias por tus videos
Thank you for your kind words, we are in England, so i would not know any garages in Miami that could help you. Maybe start with your local Honda dealer ?
What and where did you get that part .?
I’m in the United States, where do you buy this kit? Regards, Tony
I got mine from a random seller on ebay !
@@Moonfleet41 yep , thanks 🙂
Where do you buy this from , I looked them up and there are so many different ones for sale what’s a good one to get ? Thanks for the video
How to remove the gear box from a 03 gold wing1800 it got a gear need to be replaced
Where do i buy that part?
Hola, soy de mexico sabras como puedo conseguir la pieza ??
Have kept my 1986 GL1200 and not wanted a 1500 because of all the Bodywork removal..
a Typically great Video ..thanks
what made you choose 'Stealth Black' as a Colour Scheme?
Hey Del, what brand of lift do you have that Goldwing on? I like it.
Thanks Jason, this is the lift i use.. www.spanner-monkey.co.uk/motorcycle-lift-680kg-capacity-heavy-duty-electro-hydraulic-115620?search=MC680E&description=true
Where did you get that Del ? Money well spent by the looks of it.
This appears to be just the mod I have been looking for!!! Do you have a link to where I can order one?
Yes, lower down in the comments i posted a link to the ebay sellers site..!
As always another fantastic detailed video 🇺🇸🍾🎉🇺🇸
Would you provide me with the link to purchase the item.
Thank you so much for assisting me
del iam not trying to learn an old dog new tricks but be aware on older wings and f5cs the swingarm can rot
Thanks Allan, they can, you're dead right, but luckily when i checked mine it's fine. but wise words of warning for sure.
Another great video Delboy, but hey, you should still be taking things easy especially moving that Goldwing around on the lift. You must look after yourself........................lol.
Thanks mate, you're right!!
that looks great del where do you find all these gizmos from m8 atb iain
The sloppy gear shift was always irritating for me personally so good ol' Google provided a few suggestions and you know how it is, the wonders of the internet will eventually guide you to a good solution!
“Savin you money so come on let’s go, Delboy’s Garage!!!”
Hey Brother, after 3 days I only just got through laughing at your little dog with issues... that is the funniest sh*t I've seen in months!... and I was only playing your theme tune the other day, I may have to use it to open a video again soon... happy memories! Love & Hugs from D&Px
@@Moonfleet41 I had to share that for sure, it was just too funny. Glad you’re well. Take care of Pennster.
Where do I get one for a 98 Valkyrie??
I believe it's the same gear shift, these are listed for F6 models too.
I like the flat black, very unusual.
great design and well explained brother ! another great video ! keep up the good work brother, stay safe guys cheers from new york!! 👍🍺🍺
How did you know about that part. And how come honda not modified it before as there must be aware of it.
This bike is a '92 and they made great improvements on the 1800cc model which came out around 2001... it was never a 'fault' that got bad enough to cause problems, many owners happily live with the given freeplay, but me personally, I like a gear linkage that's more precise.
"Fantastic", just like you said!
What a smart fix for a stupid issue. What was Honda thinking?
Who painted that lovely “black on black” paint job AND with a brush?
I couldn't possibly comment!
Is it possible to buy one of these gadgets for my goldwing?
I love how his 10mm bit is missing when he takes the 8mm 🤣🤣🤣
I wrecked 2 engine gearboxes on 2 different gl1500 bikes. One lasted 350k the other 8800k. I just bought a gl1800.
Thats impressive mileage ! :-0
That gl1800 I said I bought.... Well got issues with 5th a year in 75k. Not happy. I thought they had sorted this out in the gl1800 series but now in the not the distant future I'm gonna need a transmission overhaul.
Will this work on a gl1800? (06)
What year the Goldwing? Mine 1990… sure made me check mine as I really don’t have issues yet, Kwel gadget and easy fix.
Thanks showing the gear shifter, I didn’t realize how long the gear shaft was. Makes whole lotta sense. 👍
I just checked my Goldwing, sure enough, too much free play.
No chest pains were experienced during the moving of this vehicle!😳😂😂😂
What a cool mod! Love the union flag knee pads on her by the way!!👌
None at all mate, getting past it now.. and yeah why not, a Japanese bike, built in America wearing Union flag emblems... Truly Pan Terran aye !
For 35 pounds….. Did you used the cheap knock-off stolen idea or the patented version designed by the inventor who is a small machine shop operator entrepreneur. You referenced what a great idea it was so I hope so. I enjoyed the video.
Hi Del, Are they the knee pads from the Triumph tank on the sides of the Gold wing?
They were on the Triumph very briefly, but they are after market ones, not the originals.!
@@Moonfleet41 They look like they belong there, and thanks for this video, a friend has the same problem and was worried about the cost at the local bike shop, ive sent him a link to this video
@@1970955 Thanks Paul, in real time it's literally half hour to fit, and 25 minutes of that is wrangling bodywork..!!!
Have a good weekend buddy.
...or of course get yourseld a Goldwing without a gear lever! ;0)
Ha ha.. that's cheating.!
@@Moonfleet41 if TMF's viewer numbers mean he can afford one then yours must surely 😊
Seriously, you mentioned time. It would be good if you timestamped somehow to show the time a job takes. Then I know what to double or triple.
I see you bought the cheap copy as well.. doesn't have the teflon insert of the original.
4 mos later.. how is it ?
Faultless mate.. fitted it and forgot it !
another great video is that your gold wing del
Thanks... and yes it is mate!
Brilliant mod! I love it!
A perfect mod! 😎👍🏻
