What do you expect from a show made by Twitter, for Twitter
And funny point they count as anime and none of people who work in that are Japanese
Not to even mention one of the writers is a Feminist that is an overt psychopath

I could tear into HGS like everyone else here, but instead I'll just recommend an anime that is actually good.
Mairimashita! Iruma-kun (Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun!) has an extremely likeable cast, excellent animation, and really good world-building. There're two seasons currently available with a third on the way.
Go watch that instead of watching HGS sober.

Little Witch Academia is also really good. It's pretty much everything that HGS wants to be but fails at miserably.
RWBY is a lot better than HGS
Golly, I actually love that anime I'm about 5 episodes in as we speak XD
The fact this show has been in development for years and it still came out like a dumpster fire says a lot.
HGS actually makes me want to give “I am Not Starfire” another chance
It was teased for so long and when the time came, they just blasted out every episode at once before running to the showers to wash away their sins.
“You feel your sins crawling on your back”
A typical anime: takes a week at most to release an episode or two
This one: Releases all twelves episodes upon release
If that's not rushed I don't know what is
We all know one thing is for sure, HGS won't be getting a season 2.
Except for the fact that it will. CR is going to double down and renew the series for at least two more seasons, just to prove to everyone that they're in charge, and the subscribers are the slaves who should be grateful to them for the privilege.

- Bad, generic song
- Power of friendship
- School
- Happy go lucky main character that is naive and clumsy but with a big hart
- Striving for being the best in the world in something, because being just good, great or one of the best isn't enough
- Color coded like power rangers
- This one girl that is ''cool'' and ''stoic'' doesn't want any friends, because she's too cool for that. But with enough harassment from the main character and the plot just forcing them to be together she becomes part of the group. Complaining about her friend being immature.
- Big bad and his lackey that does most of the stuff while the bad guy is in the background laughing menacingly or just brooding and not doing anything.
- Cat girl antagonist that will be most likely sassy and flirtatious, outsmarting heroes every time. But deep down she's nice and the bigger bad is making her do it. And no matter what crimes she committed will be absolved on the account ''it's not her fault''. ( Catra 2.0)
- Missing parent
- All the good people are POCs, because white isn't a color, lgbt with the exception of mandatory straights that had to populate.

I don’t agree that anime doesn’t focus on political/social issues. Plenty do.
AOT for example is literally about war, racism and a lot of themes could easily be compared to the Second World War especially in the last arc/season. The only difference is:
1. We know that’s what we’re getting into
2. It’s not done in a way that’s insulting, a lot is left up to the watcher/reader’s interpretation (even though the finale wasn’t the best)
Other anime have done this too! Violet Evergarden is a great example. But it focuses more on the emotional affects of a war on a child which could bring up a lot of political/social discussion.
Others I can think of is:
- Kill La Kill
- BNA
- My Hero Acadamia
- Kakegurui
- Revolutionary Girl Utena
- Ghost in the Shell
- Code Geass
- Gundam
- Literally Hetalia XD
- Berserk (It kinda varies and tends to focus more on the individual rather than world political/social problems)
These talk about social/political themes without feeling like an insult imo
For western media that is anime ish, the ones I can think of are:
- Avatar: The last Airbender (If you think this isn’t political you are lying to yourself LOL)
- The Boondocks
But that’s just my take!
Another addition:
Another great show that has the theme of friendship while also having some politics is My Little Pony surprisingly and that was my childhood 😎
Agreed. There is politics and social commentary in anime, but the way that it is included is more subtle and isn't as preachy. In anime, it usually shows the audience the political/ social issue or the impact of it on individuals or society at large rather than telling the audience. I personally hope that it stays that way. I don't want anime that wants to shove agendas down my throat, but at the same time, social commentary and politics often makes the plot more interesting or builds character development if it is implemented right.
Probably because politics is not the actual focus but merely the theme. (for very few... like three things in that list that I know of at least) After all, you can't talk about war without talking about politics. However, the 'main dish' of the series would be the mystery surrounding giant naked men (AoT) or the super powered eye/robot fights (Code Geass, Gundam) or maybe just super powers in general (MHA). Politics is the 'byproduct' as a consequence of them needing something to drive a plot from their main idea.
On the other hand, these guys worked backwards. They tried to focus on the politics and then build a story/character surrounding these politics. The end result is a flat plot that could pretty much work even if you replaced the entire cast with different values (e.g two gay MC separated by gender barrier with two straight MC separated by class barrier, both types fight against 'authorities', win and live happily ever after.) making it feel forced.
High guardian spice isnt political at all. The plot revolves around a mysterious force destorying the balance of the world while the kids learning too much trying to survive assassination attempts while balancing school and social life. Its like winx club n shit
The only thing thats political is the presence of trans and non binary people. The trans person only mentions it when it comes up. He uses magic to keep it going.
I dont think that the presence of trans people qualifies as "political". I think if anything, the show feels very personal.
@@kenonerboy Believe me, I agree completely. But I also believe it could be handled better. We want trans and non-binary CHARACTERS not TRANS and NON-BINARY characters.
Also the anime Revolutionary Girl Utena I mentioned on there, focuses on sexuality and gender identity and it was very good. And this was the main focus of the anime, but the reason it doesn’t feel like it was made badly was because of the cleverness of the writing. The creator had a special understanding of the topic at hand.
Kinda Spoiler:
The main girl wanted to be a Prince, not because she wanted to be a man but because she wanted the status of a Prince. She feels like being a Prince is associated with not only power but chivalry and protection. She dressed more “”””masculine”””” but it didn’t take away from her identity as a girl. And this anime really resonated with me. She also ends up finding her own Princess!
At first, you think this show might be from a closed minded point of view but they show all sides to the overall story and it’s overall a great anime. I highly recommend it to literally anyone.
You asked for soup and they gave you spit in a bowl.
im surprised people even checked out episode 1 when i couldn't even finish the trailer lmao
They’ve wasted their time, money, effort, and ruined their reputation.
Let me remind everyone that THIS was what crunchyroll was funneling money (that should go to anime studios) into.
They want the Steven Universe/RWBY crowd.
Imagine watching this show unironically
99% of the budget went into paying for the animators' pink and blue hair dyes.
The people hating on this show have invested more passion and effort into the project than all the people who actually created it. Just another forgettable dumpsterfire. It's not even worth the time it takes to mock.

Ah yes, Twitter: The Anime.
Well this show is basically can be summed up as 'Bare Minimum: The Show'. I wouldn't even call this an "anime" because even other Western works such as 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' and 'The Boondocks' are more "anime" than whatever this is.
This is just like that Back to the Future game for the NES that James Rolfe (aka the Angry Video Game Nerd) reviewed many years ago where that game meet the bare minimum of what it means to be a video game based on the first 'Back to the Future' movie; let's put clocks that you collect and call it 'time', let's put 'hearts' in the game because the film has the theme of love in it, let's put a complicated cafe stage and call that the first 'Biff fight' because that old shitty NES game hardly had anything to do with Back to the Future by the way. This show is simply the bare minimum of an anime if you can even call this show an "anime" to begin with. This show sucks, there's nothing groundbreaking or special about it, so there it is anyway.
My question is why to make a diverse western-like show when some manga have diverse characters like WELL written characters like CR if you want diversity get it from the manga that has it
because they don't actually care about diversity, they just want to make a show where the main concept is "protagonists are all mary sue lesbians and men are all bad".

Not to mention I hate how homophobes and sexist can use shows like GS to show the “gay agenda” or as “ political views” if CR just use a manga series from a small manga artist that was female or lgbt+ (which they can do) I wouldn't be so mad but they didn't and yes the video they made about the show felt like it was pushing an agenda (to me at least).
@@lunaofhope2921 I completely agree with you, it’s very insulting and shameful, I just want to watch anime with lgbtq+ members that are like real people going through struggles day in and day out, able to push forward. At the same time, don’t make everyone apart of the community either, have some allies that helps to further develop the main character.
The only good thing they'll get from the series is the rule34 of the characters.
Two and half years of teasing and this is what you get. A mediocre, if not bad REALLY BAD, imitation of Anime. And they're wondering why Anime and Manga are still popular nowadays.
Seriously.
And I remember most early 2010's western cartoon artstyle looks anime inspired and the writting is just so good, for example Thundercats 2011. My 8 year old self loved it to death when seeing that series on tv
@@tfgenobatssasin1788 AND THEY WERE COOL. They had a good script, voice-over- designs. Now look at this failure!
actual studio: makes crap
touhou fans: make an anime all by themselves.
also, high guardian spice sounds like a new drug.
A drug with the same side effects as Crocodile.
Conclusion: don't let twitter women make western cartoons
And if you do, it'll lead to the end of the Western cartoon industry as we know it.
"It's a show made to cater to people who don't even use this platform."
Same with what happened with the American comics, they butchered it to provide politically correct stupidity. Like how many percentage of the Alphabet community buys the comics?
There was a lot of anime inspired shows that was so good back in the day and is remembered by many
This is not one of them, it's just a burning memory
It's literally packed to the brim with every cliché that's been saturating the market for the last two decades. I couldn't get past episode 3 and by then, I thought I was watching a pastiche of the following shows.
Harry Potter
RWBY
New She-Ra
Steven Universe
Star and the Forces of Evil (only slightly)
I can't even be disappointed. Just apathetic.
I can wait for High Guardian Spice to be in the crunchyroll awards. It’s going to receive so few votes that it will become a meme.
No, not even a MEME. That means it's at least so-bad-its-good. This is so awful that nobody would meme it.
the good thing this show has for itself its that they did their own "Original" creation instead of morphing whatever classic we loved, so now it has the chance to fail by itself instead of ruining something beloved.
Silver lining, i guess.
Crunchyroll was far better for the anime industry and community when it was still a pirate site.
Was Crunchyroll a pirate site?
@@vonkrass Yep, that's what they originally were before they became a "legit" anime streaming service. They made all these promises of giving back to the creators and animators of all these wonderful anime but, as you can see, they lied.
Everyone saw this coming. Literally everyone. Even the staff for the show. Even the parent companies. Agenda is infinitely more important then quality to the woke.
Who could have possibly foreseen this? -thequartering
I support the review bombing. the show was made by terrible people so they get terrible reviews in return.
Y'all still remember anitubers attacked pirate sites and told you to sub to crunchyroll? Makes me laugh everyday thinking about it.
Reject woke
Return to Ahoy!♡
Take the most basic SFM animation, combine it with the dub of Ghost Stories, and you'll have a much better product than this.
Seriously, I've seen Furry stories on e621 that have a more engaging storyline.
dont forget that some of them even have sequels that are equally engaging...
"Who could have FORSEEN this?" -TheQuartering
Evil crunchyroll:
We have taken your money from the sub fees and ad revenue to buy more licenses for shows so you don't have to fight between us and funimation.
You always know when they start with "Im a proud ____ but", that their comment is going to be "interesting"
Never heard of this but it sounds like a twitter tumblr mashup of being "woke" while being mildly offensive to everyone
As soon as I saw the animation, I lost what little interest I had in Crunchyroll as a platform.
Wow, it's like it was written in the stars that this show would suck.
It will probably become a cult classic in rule34 communities.
why is it called High Guardian Spice
it's like they used a dartboard for the name
who's the high guardian on spice
why is he abusing spice to get high
who is he guarding
who
I am interested in what the 5* reviews say. Just for the memes...
When they claim to have diverse cast, but don't have diverse cast.
_Damn it's almost like we know how this would end_
this is the one anime that not even pirate anime websites will pirate because of how terrible it is
The west just can't make anime.
If it was on Nickelodeon it would already been canceled because it would not come close to the ratings SpongeBob brought in when it first came out.
Trash people can only make trash animations. The end result was expected by everyone since they announced it and claimed diversity. It's basically a bad joke with a bad punchline.
I didn't expect anything from a company that has twitter like people in it.
So for anyone that wants to watch a fantastic anime, then watch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, you wont regret it.
"This is the best show ever!" :2 people.
That money could've been used for Omniscient reader , Hardcore leveling Warrior and Solo Leveling but nope.
Yeah I'll stick with Salior Moon and Card Captor lol.
Ah the decay of our animation industry is moving along at a lovely pace I see.
Well, the WESTERN animation industry that is. The anime industry is just going to keep growing while the Western Animation industry will very soon.
I’m not watching this abomination, everything Crunchyroll and adult swim touch dies a horrific death. I have no hope for blade runner🤦🏽♂️
Even Gensou Mangekyou ( a fan animation of a bullet hell game called Touhou Project) have a better animation than this. What's make it more impressive is that it's not even created by an official anime studio, it was created by an unofficial group called Manpuku Jinja that funded by the Touhou fanbase. The voice acting may be mediocre, but the animation's perfect that you couldn't tell that it was made by an unofficial studio.
The fact that a fan animation has a better anime than crunchyroll said a lot about them.
