The writers have no concept of what makes a good or bad person, so it's not surprising that one of the MCs is a huge piece of shit while being framed as a good person.

Sage would work much more if we see things that would justifiably have a harsh response. Instead we have her crying because the Cold Elf responded Coldy. Anything could’ve worked better than “Woe is me, I am sad because a pro new magic girl is saying new magic is better while my barely paying attention new friend thinks New Magic is better.”
either that or they threw a lot of ideas for sage's character onto the bulliten board without thought and stitched together the most confusing character arc in history because the writers wanted to do everything they wanted

If only Rosemary was an older junior magical detective, that was looking for her mom, hence working her arse off to join the supernatural forensics unit. So badly that she went to force open a cold case and ironically has found shit ppl didn’t find.
I could see some grounds for Sage being mad at Amaryllis, despite having a point (and me agreeing) Amaryllis is being rude. What chaps my ass is Sage being mad at Thyme for just saying "yeah" we see later on that all her animosity is aimed at Thyme, she couldn't give less of a shit about Amaryllis. And Thyme for the rest of the episode is treated as the bad guy, why? She wasn't even taking part in the argument really she was just trying to get to lunch cause she was hungry.
Almost everyone in-show forgets that Amaryllis was the bully in this moment, but absolutely everyone there forgot that Thyme didn't even bother contributing to the assignment. Like, at all. If anything, Sage wasn't mad at Thyme for the correct reasons.
I have a theory, because Sage was an only child that meant she was probably spoiled by both her parents. Rosemary I think is less spoiled because she had a sibling growing up and I don't think her family was as well off as sages but I'm not 100% on that
I was about to drop that "anime" after the first episode because of how flat it was but I think I'm going to continue watching it to see for myself at what degree of hypocrisy this thing is going
Ah, the price of chosing a cast that is "diverse" and shares ideals instead of people who are actually good at story writing or getting across a message. Honestly, if the creator had just swallowed their pride and hired actual experts, this might have actually been a good show.
