To be fair with the student one I never paid attention so there could be a giant student lol.
It's a layering mistake, the cells were layered in the wrong order when filmed. The "Giant" was meant to be in the foreground and the first character in the shot. This happened all the time with old hand drawn cartoons (There are several Instances of this in the old Transformers cartoon), but as this show is primarily done on a computer this shouldn't happen and just shows how badly made and rushed High Guardian Spice was.
I do animation like this for a living.

I've said it before, this was all already done in 2019 and they just didn't bother fixing it up in the coming years
Anyone here remember the first season of Kemono Friends? Terrible animation, inconsistent voice acting, and troubled production. Yet it became the most beloved anime the year it came out and continues to be beloved the world over. Why? For one, the mistakes were far more forgivable, given that it was clear the studio was working on a budget you couldn't buy a turkey sandwich with. But the biggest reason by far that it succeeded was because the makers of the anime poured their hearts and souls into it, doing their absolute best with the minimal requirements at hand.
They made wonderful characters we could love and relate to. They gave us a meaningful plot with a degree of depth that resonated long after we were done watching. And, on a personal note, my favorite aspect of the anime was the world that was brimming with fascinating mystery and lore. No overdone cliches. No predictable plot points. And no garbage identity politics dictating how everything "must" progress. The whole show was just an incredible, simple, and creative masterpiece.
To the creators of this dumpster fire, you should get off your high horses and actually ask yourselves what truly makes a show worth watching. The reason people forgave Kemono Friends for it's bad production but are now constantly harping on yours is because you didn't give them any reason to forgive your mistakes. There is nothing here but things to complain about. So don't be surprised that people are complaining.

The thing that all those money not really going to the main creator is kinda infortune but well there own fault to release this product.

But ofcourse Crunchy Roll is the studio that took the idea pitch so this is what we got.

I like to imagine an alternate timeline where this show is good, and everyone loved it. Though, even that seems impossible…
I feel like people are just hating the show, just for the sole purpose of hating it. I saw the announcement 3 years ago and I was kinda excited for it. I could excuse the "kill all men shit" because deep down, I know that that is impossible to do. Or else the human race will be extinct. When the show came out. The only reason i was hating on it, is because i see everyone else hating on it. I have nothing against the show, I'm just hating on it because you all are. Is that a problem?

The voice acting, the writing, the animation… it all is quite sub-par compared to what Crunchyroll is expected to put out. It can’t even really be considered an anime. At best, the show is average (in my opinion). Some people do probably just have the “hate it because everyone hates it” but the majority seem to agree the show is not done well. People have watched it and accept that the show is done poorly. If you want, you can watch it yourself. There is nothing wrong with you liking it if you want. But in general, the show does not meet “anime” standards, which is the purpose of Crunchyroll- to put out Anime, not cartoons (imo).

This is like 1980s level of animation mistakes. At least back then the cartoons still had effort put into them.
On a age where if you layered your cels on the wrong order, you would need to dismount a whole apparatus and rearrange it. Nowdays, just slide the layer on the program and it's done. This show is not just about bad writing, it's lazy (and maybe a money laundering scheme).
There are lots of cartoons with effort put in to them today. Just say you prefer anime, like you don’t have to diss cartoons to have a preference.

High Guardian Spice is getting a lot of five stars on crunchyroll, they now have an average of 2.3, I guess it's really popular among the bot community.
Have you read the comments on the episodes. It is so full of either bots or just fucking sjws it isn't funny. One comment I read went something to the effect of (and I'm paraphrasing a bit) "If you don't have anything nice to say about the show then don't comment." Apparently they don't understand how review, critique, and general free speech work

Shameless plug here, I'm actually making an abridged version of this shitshow lmao. Reimagined the plot(it's about racists, the purple, and Florida), the characters(Rosemary is a r/nicegirl and Sage is stuck in a toxic relationship with her). The script for the first episode is finished and all that remains is voice acting and editing. Will be in a week I think.
Be careful the SJW Karens writers and the person who made this garbage might label copyright on it out of spite.

At least the second one was small. Like they realized that the book was in the way too late and just decided that clipping it was easier than reanimating. But the first one is completely unforgivable no matter how unprofessional or inept you are. No way that should have made it all the way to broadcast without SOMEONE doing something about it.
I agree, clipping in animations happens a lot, like everyone knows about Elsa’s entire hair braid clipping through her shoulder during let it go. But the first one is an unforgivable sin
Just because it’s normal for shows to have animation errors doesn’t mean it’s normal when those animation errors become that big and noticeable
This is something you expect in a 3D game/scene.
Not something 2D that you have complete control of how you're drawing the scene.
There is a moment where sage faces towards the elf lady and her face for one frame is horrible.
Honestly, the random giant seems like a more interesting character than most of the rest of the cast. How come they haven’t introduced them to the viewer yet?
I should be surprised they mess up this badly, but then I remember that CrunchyRoll also helped make Ex-Arms.

To be fair to the animators, the hand is just a blink and you miss it that you see kinda often in cheap animation. But that student tho, at minimum 3 people when through that frame by frame and went 'this is fine'
Also to be fair, they had 3 years for production which should have given them time to look at everything. Just shows they ain’t care about the animation (looking at you PNG bread and light post)
Yeah laughing at this is fun and all but, i used to work for shitty tv shows too and experienced the crunch myself for 5 years straight.
Yes it's an error and it should've been double checked, but the animators are not at fault here. Don't make fun of them, make fun of the project lead or director. I bet you, none of the animators were comfortable or happy working for this project. Maybe some keyframers but none of the inbetweeners. It is an awful experience, so please, don't laugh at them, laugh at the purple jelly donut head kate whatever her name is. The girl or female or whatever she calls herself who said kill all men.

There is an alarming amount of errors. But if anything that just showcases how little passion there actually was for this show. I imagine most if not all the animators felt annoyed at this project. I know I wouldn't bother trying to make this perfect.
Animation is annoying in itself. Even with just single drawings I'll sometimes spend 20+ minutes trying to get something "fixed".
So I definitely can imagine the pain of animating something like this.

They've somehow managed to have clipping issues without using 3d models
I end up having a massive moment of "AAAAA" when I mess up layering. Either these artists & animators don't care or they all constantly hate themselves for this.
Calling it now. In the future, animation classes in High School and College will use High Guardian Spice as a teaching tool on everything you could possibly do wrong when animating.

i saw another one when some youtubers were joking about this animations, but they didn't noticed, one of the characters mom was cutting potetoes and they just repeated the same frame of her cutting the top of the potato, you could see the potato slice just looping in the air everytime

The fact that they decided to take the money from their subscriptions that they claimed would be going to underpaid anime artists (as a selling point for their subscription no less) to make this and didn't even bother to put any care into it on any level is just... infuriating.

There is one thing that saves HGS.
Its marketing was so non-existing that many people will spend their precious time on watching something better. Hero Hei is the one and only source I heard about this show from.

It amazes me they can even find these mistakes, the very idea of someone ACTUALLY SITTING THROUGH this animation is amazing.
Yeah I don't know how anyone is managing it. I wanted to see if it was truly as bad as was claimed (figured it was but wanted to confirm) and had to force myself to make it through the first 2 episodes. It required multiple stops to catch my breath from how bad it stinks....seriously I had to stop the video multiple times and take a break just to make it through each 20 minute episode
theres another scene where the pink hair girl walks through a doorway, but her hair is so big that half of it just phases through.
There was another scene where one girl was doing a kick with her right leg while her back was facing the screen. Then mid way through kicking, she turned to the right to face the screen and her kicking leg suddenly became her left leg.
At first I was like "it looks fine" but then...and then my first thought was "oh"
The giant student absolutely caught me off-guard. 😂
Talking about animation mistakes.
Mushoku tensei, has, at 5:23 of some episode of this season, a bug where a hand just flips randomly while being lifted up. Pretty weird and for no reason. Thats probably the biggest error ive seen in terms of animation in mushoku trnsei.

Reminds me of some of the animation mistakes in that Street Fighter USA Channel cartoon that MattMcMuscles uploaded like 10 years ago.
This is like that thing old ass video games do to save memory. And instead of hiding it behind fog or a loading screen it's just super obvious with a second look.

I don't watch Hero Hei too often, but it's funny to see stuff that happens on here and on Twitter from time to time. It's a really nice contrast to all the annoying stan Twitter Gen z genshin fangirl purist weirdos who just inhabit a lot of these sorts of communities. The “villain” and the side characters are so much better that the main cast is Almost a shame they don’t have the show for themselves , smh this show clearly has potential to be something but fails miserably to capture an audience with their garbage writing like episode 1-5 is like it got written by the “I’m a 14 year old girl Twitter user and this is deep “ type of people and somehow the rest of the episodes were written by someone at least slightly competent

Alright that book mistake really has me scratching my head. It's not like the first one where that giant character was just on the wrong layer he was obviously supposed to be in front. But when you have a layer mistake pop up mid animation someone had to of set that up on purpose or misclicked a layer toggle at that frame mid shot to cause it to switch out

In some scenes, the book is completely blank. They didn’t even bother putting scribbles on it. And after some time, the book just disappears after Sage leaves the table

It's not just that, Orange Hair Boy keeps teleporting everywhere in one scene where the class goes on a DnD Style Quest.
Someone could make an hour long compilation of JUST how inconsistent the whites of the eyes are. It drives me NUTS. The upper eye-line CONSTANTLY goes inside the whites and uggg they could have just filled in a little area with skin color but nooooo they had to have the most inconsistent eye-lines I've EVER SEEN
"A wizard did it" does not excuse this.
Having worked in an animation studio. this is all on whoever is comping stuff
This reminds me of simmilar animation error in Frozen, when Elsas hair get to position where it only could get by clipping through her arm.
