It's like how Kneon and Geeky from ClownfishTV predicted it. Crunchyroll would heavily emphasize how the project was run by a group of "diverse" female staff, and then slide in some LGBT token characters in the show as preparation so that when audiences criticized HGS for its poor quality, the media would just run articles that go, "You just hate it because you're a bigot."
They think that just because the show has LGBTQ+ characters it makes it automatically a good show and exempt from any type of critique. That doesn't work that way. They will never acknowledge the show itself is bad. Instead, they're just pulling the "if you don't like this LGBTQ show/character, then you're anti-LGBTQ+" card on the bad reviews, *when **_even_** LGBTQ+ people don't like the show at all!*

Dude, I legit used Crunchyroll for 1 anime anyway (Demon Slayer) and I wanted to use my subscription to support THEIR studio. Now that it turns out my money went to support HGS and not the one I Intended I feel so disappointed.
I'm sorry but when the best your series can muster is RUclips clips where people unequivocally just rip how bad it is to shreds, then it's almost certainly trash.
When your series is improved by someone literally redubbing it a snippet or abridiging a simple clip of it, and it's quality is improved multifold, you've done something wrong.
Even the trashiest of trash anime are a duodecillion times better than High Guardian Spice, but Weird Obsessive Kooks & Evil Supplicants gonna continue to be WOKES.
This shouldn't be even called an "anime" to begin with. I'm going to use food terminology to describe what is or what isn't an anime anyway. I'm sure everyone here knows what Champagne is and what Parmesan cheese is at this point. Champagne is produced only in the Champagne region of France, if it isn't made there then it is simply sparkling wine. Parmesan cheese is made only in specific region in Italy for it to be true Parmesan and if it isn't made there then it is some cheap imitation that is sold in grocery stores anyway.
I'm going to apply that to anime then. If an animated production was produced by an anime studio in some way or form then it is an anime, if not (as in the case of High Guardian Spice since no anime studio even helped with the production for this show) then it is simply just a cartoon then.

One minute, Rosemary almost kills Thyme, then the next second they are watching a rat try to get some head. That's, quite literally, how the pacing goes. And they talk SO FAST. This is hilarious. Anime already has one of the most diverse LGBT content on the planet that go as far back as the 1970's. Some examples of this are Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Yuri on Ice, Bloom into You, and Citrus. Anyone that says that the anime community are a bunch of "homophobic", "biphobic" or "transphobic" bigots either don't know what they're talking about or they're simply lying to you because if this was the case then shows like Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid and Zombieland Saga wouldn't be commercial hits by now anyway.
I mean holy shit, people don't like High Guardian Spice because of whatever buzzterm you like to use to defend this garbage. People hated High Guardian Spice because is simply sucks, there's nothing more to it then. The only things that can save High Guardian Spice at this point is either to competently reboot the series with competent writers or give it the Ghost Stories treatment where the voice actors get to say anything they want as long as they stick to the story by the way. High Guardian Spice sucks because the story is terrible, the soundtrack is as generic as they come, most of the characters are bland, and a myriad of other things. Anyone that at least understands that history of anime that anime already has plenty of LGBT representation to begin with, this form of pop culture media doesn't need a bunch of hacks from the West to do this anyway. So there it is then.

If that were the case, then you'd have to classify Avatar: TLA, Legend of Korra, The Boondocks, RWBY and many more of being Cultural Appropriation too. Or do those shows not count because they are (or were) actually good?

There's no way around it, it is; and it's not a matter of what the characters identify as or what their labels are. Representation is needed, that doesn't make it automatically good tho. If they're going to represent us as a community, they should know better, even more considering the director is part of the community himself. LABELS ARE NOT PERSONALITY TRAITS. Sure, you can be proud of your label. But when you're making a character there's more to it than that.
A basic rule of thumb if you're gonna make an LGBT character would be to make a character like you normally would and... That's pretty much it. Not everyone is a walking stereotype.

Avatar the Last Airbender looked 10 times as anime as High Guardian Spice, with a much more Asian influenced, original script and art style, and even that show doesn't call itself an anime. Your show is less "anime" than Totally Spies and isn't even as anime as the spoof intro for Rick and Two Crows.

If you read the article and see the tweets they showed, almost all ( 99% ) of it were actually valid criticisms on the animation, plot, development etc. I don't know why they're trying to frame all of it as Anti-LGBT trolling. If media and sites keep framing every valid criticism as Anti-LGBT it washes down actual unprovoked attacks on LGBT.
You know how back in the 80's, it's a trend to label anything as "the devil's doing" to discourage people from doing it? Like Metal is the devil's music. etc.

The best way to fix High Guardian Spice is to send it to Japan have them dub it the same way the English Crew for Ghost Stories did then send it back to the states to be dub in a similar fashion. It might not fix anything but High Guardian Spice might go down in history as a laughing stock for a different reason when even those who enjoyed get bored
They might change the whole plot in the Japanese dub just like the beast wars Japanese dub which changed the tone to be more comedic

This "news media" article is exactly as predicted by ClownfishTV. Delusionally acknowledging HGS as an anime? Check. Delusionally saying a lot of people were excited when the first "trailer" came out? Check. Calling everyone who criticized and hated the show anti-LGBT trolls? Check. The author of the article identifies himself as non-binary with they/them as pronouns? Check. I'm impressed that everything about it is more auto-pilot than the show itself.
Let's be real, if you want some info about this "anime" others haven't covered, it promotes animal abuse, Parentification, misandry, and reckless behavior. I'm not going to pretend that it's not a core issue in the series, because it is. Forget the artstyle for a minute, cause I could live with the artstyle if the story was actually good. It's not. Nothing is explained, so there is no way you can tell what's going on half the time, there is a consistent stem of animation errors, and worst of all, they designed a lot of *solid* character concepts, but then decided to throw backstory and explanation to the wind, so those character concepts are completely wasted. It's difficult to develop attachment to most of the characters when you don't really know who they are.
Also, I laugh that they call it anti-LGBTQ hate. I'm Asexual, and lemme tell you, the only representation they put in, one was a lesbian couple they later made a bisexual threesome joke towards (they also played up the lesbian stereotype so there's that too), the trans guy was hamfisted in. Rather than explain Transgenderism in an in-universe context, they explained it in a real world context as if you're talking to a 5yo about the subject. Don't even get me started on their decision to elude to the main 2 characters being romantically interested in one another (also very forced), and that's literally it. There's no mention of Nonbinary, Gay, Ace/Aro or even Pan representation, and honestly even if there was they'd make it a stereotype too. Kinda glad they didn't because I don't need more people thinking I'm a robot for not loving s*x 🙄.
