a temporary solution that some of you guys can try is when your reboot your computer, immediately open up task manager (control+shift+escape) then wait for it to pop up. wait for it to finish loading and you should be able to open up your stuff

@@plutowr1d Not really sure what's wrong on your end as it's worked for me just fine. Sorry, but I'm not entirely sure how to go about solving that problem. However there's likely a tutorial or video out there that can help. I guess you can check out these 2 (not sure if they will help all too much though):

As this did not work for me, I found another easier solution for the single application I had problems with:
1. Right click the exe-file that you are unable to open and choose "Properties".
2. Go to the "Compatibility"-tab and click "Run compatibility troubleshooter".
3. Click "Try recommended settings" and then click "Test the program..."
4. If your program starts, click "Next" and then "Yes, save these settings for this program".
5. Close troubleshooter, hopefully your application will work now :)

I followed the guide and now I can open things if i select to open them as adm. Any clues why is that? Should I create a new user?
Most apps need admin perms to add or modify things on the hard drive. So relax.
I changed it back when something went wrong
and can download thing again

I was struggling 6 hours with trying to fox this shit. I was just about to reinstall windows when found this. Much appreciated, this saved me from lot of hassle to set everything up again! No idea why stuff just stopped working without any apparent reason to beging with...
Edit: It work for one day, but not anymore...
My dad's computer was having an issue where if you closed out of the browser the programs would become unresponsive. This fixed the problem, thanks!
When i open a .exe file this is what happens: i double click, nothing happens, and windows explorer freezes. To close windows explorer i have to restart it with task manager

Thanks, just started getting this problem. Haven't changed any settings at all. In case anyone else can't find it. Type into the start up Project, you're looking for "Project to a second screen.".Then that comes up to the side of the screen, for Windows 10 users. Now looking to uninstall Cortana, uses up way too much memory. :/

I don't know, but I think it happens when you have high RAM usage. This happened 3 times to me.

Hey sorry I’m late but the same thing happend to me so if u have any important files then this can’t help u but if u can just reinstall everything then alright so to the point if u want to fix it u need to shut down ur computer then reboot and spam f11 till u see these options and u press reset and choose all the choices till it starts resetting hope this helps u

Ive taken my laptop n 2 get checked cuz the mouse pad works but the mouse wasnt showing up/ wuldnt move unless i had 1 plugged n well they fixed it for like 5 mins then it stopped again which not so bad i just use a reg mouse anyway but they noticed while checking it out that when my comp starts the shell will come up on the screen until u exit it. Said it was no big deal but i was wondering if theres a way to get it 2 stop? Or if that it might b a probelm?

Hi, I can't open regedit. It says the same thing "Windows cannot find 'C:\Windows
egedit.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly".
Perhaps it is on your D drive, or a different letter.

I just formated my drive and reinstalled win10 even after that on my desktop many things are missing and none of the apps are maximizing... they open but can't maximise any solution?

Hi, I tried this as I was unable to open any programs in Windows 10. I. Followed your fix to the letter.
I then tried to open a program, and got a dialogue box asking how I wanted to open .exe files.
So I thought I would go back and put things back to how they were, but as regedit is a .exe file I’m unable to put things back to how they were.
Any Ideas?

So this is what happened i opened up Device manager and i tried to search updates online and my laptop just went black i had to restart it within the power button i came back my app won't open like ( Growtopia ) i haven't found fixes.
Use the Windows 10 media creation tool and boot your computer from it. Select "Repair" and it will take you to the troubleshooting menu.
not sure if this will work but i would try retracing the steps from the video backwards and setting everything to its original value

Same here, got this problem when trying to launch osu! and Geometry Dash.
- For Osu! the start up windows popped up but it disappears after 5-15 seconds
- For GD, i launch it from steam and the "Stop" button on steam (Which is the button that appears when you play the game) just turn into "Play" button (And that means the game is not Running)
What i'm trying to say is, it didn't launch even when the task manager is on, i see the app is like force closing themselves (the exe file did appear on the task manager but it disappears after 5-15 seconds)

I had the same problem you need a other pc set your hardrive/ssd in that pc than set new windows on it from a stick are disc if the new windows is installes set the harddrive/ssd back in your other pc

If this is not your problem and does not fix what was wrong set everything back to default and it wont show the "no such interface supported" message
