31:30 - In the real movie, Broly was stabbed in the stomach as a baby before being left for dead. So the injured and healed stomach is kind of a weak spot. By chance, Goku punches that same spot on the stomach and it punches a hole in Broly.
No one actually knows about the weak spot. There wasn't a visible scar until the second movie and there would be a logical reason to be one in the first
Broly stomach was not a weak spot that’s a misconception, the reason he died so fast was because 1 it’s a movie and most movie villains get beated by one or two attacks and 2 because gokus was just so much stronger after he got everyone’s energy
@Romhacher That’s partly true but the main reason was Broly’s growing power, as he himself said in the original: “My power... It’s overflowing!” . In abridged version, it was: “My power is... Maximumer!”. Anyhow, Broly’s overflowing power could not be contained in his body so when Goku punched Broly, he loses control over his power and perishes.
There's no evidence from that. But what did likely happen is Goku "popped" him like a balloon, and his own energy caused him to explode: When he turns into LSS, you see his own energy tearing his skin apart and he talks about his power overflowing and "vents" a ton of ki out. Even in the DBS manga they talk about Kale exploding if she's not powered down

Somebody didn't watch the original Dragon Ball. Mercenary Tao/Tao Pai Pai (the guy who was screaming) was from the same original teacher as Tien and Chiaotzu. Tien used to be a villain in his debut and Pilaf was Goku's first ever villain before eventually becomming a joke that lasted up until the Demon King Piccolo arc.
The Android guy was mercenary Tao, he was a recurring villain in the original Dragon Ball and was trained by the same master that originally trained Tien. Goku kicked a grenade into his face among other things... This was not a happy reunion for him lol
9:36 this is a villain from OG Dragon Ball. All the villains Goku listed are his old rivals and the joke is that he’s asking them as if they’re still a threat to him.
*Technically* speaking it was a combination of the trauma baby Broly suffered at the hands of King Vegeta, and because baby Kakarot was crying so loudly during the time, Broly came to associate that crying with his own tragedy. However, because of how the movie presented it, it *really* looks like Broly just hates Goku for crying a lot, which is what many fans thought and what TFS is making fun of.
For the people Goku interrogated Aside from Cell, he listed Mercenary Tao (The guy who keeps screaming), Piccolo, Tienshinhan and Pilaf Those are his main enemy during the OG Dragon Ball
I find it hilarious that when there's a mystery villain, Goku's first instinct is to instant transmission over to each villain he has faced in his life, in order, including most of his friends like Tien & Piccolo. I can just imagine how those conversations went. "Hey Tien, did you destory the South Galaxy?" "...Goku, get out of my house."
The reason why Broly being born with a power level of 10,000 is significant: Vegeta was born with 500 and was 20,000 when he fought against Goku, basically baby Broly was strong enough to body almost anyone at the time...
20:46 when Paragus says to vegeta "you are not dealing with your average saiyan anymore" and Vegeta sights. It's because he knows the speech it's the same he gave Frieza over and over until he got annoyed as well, nice callback. Also you probably know but all saiyan minus vegeta are names referenced after vegetables. Kakarot = carrot, Paragus = Asparagus, Broly = Broccoli
31:30 The reason the punch worked was in the original when King Vegeta stabbed Broly as a baby it worked. The explosion was just his unstable Ki going nuclear after the wound bursted open.
32:41 - The joke here is based on a scene from the original Dragon Ball series. Back when they were kids, Chi-Chi wanted to be Goku 's bride, and Goku thought that a bride was some type of food.

Lol But that really wouldn’t be them trying to play into/callback to when Teen ChiChi and Teen Goku “fought” at the martial arts. I thinks it’s just meant to be callback to when they were both little kids and Chi Chi first ever brings up wanting Goku to marry her and that’s when Goku mistakes marriage as being food.
For the question of "is he the actual legendary super saiyan", thats a little tricky cus they seem to have rewritten that old legend like 3 or 4 times and each time could be a different person. But personally i like to believe that yes he is because his green transformation is unique to him, none of the other characters can access that form so that shows he's something special
I like Super’s take on it. The green form is just Broly accessing the TRUE full power of SSJ. The “Mastered Super Saiyan” Goku has is just a way to keep it on him at all times, it doesn’t evolve past that. Broly’s just such a ball of uncontrollable rage that he can access the full power and potential of SSJ. And it’s unique to him because none of the saiyans besides him can be driven to that level of anger like Broly can.
same with Gohan and the new movie is kinda heading towards one.... Gohan was alluded to being legendary super saiyan when he raised power against Radditz
@@axllow3914 I like the idea of it if executed correctly because it actually fulfills the legend in a way that makes sense. The legend was that this would be the strongest and most ruthless Saiyan warrior known as the Legendary Super Saiyan. I think this is still referenced in Super Broly with the fact that his Super Saiyan is unique. He still is THE Legendary Super Saiyan- the most bloodthirsty and ruthless person alive- but he’s trying to learn to control that ancient prophecy. I think he’s a much more interesting character in Super because he has actual character motivations and a tremendous power that is horribly flawed. He can’t control it. Nobody could. The Super Saiyan of Legend isn’t something you’d actually want to be because it turns you into Broly.
27:46 Fun fact, in the original movie, Goku actually does hit Broly with a Kamehameha point blank, but Broly literally just...walks through it, not even fazed or hurt at all
Just remembered this from IFunny and I always love this interaction Broly: Princess Trunks... Trunks: Please no. Broly: You lied to me. Trunks: I did no such thing! Broly (lustfully): You. Dirty. Boy. (Trunk's realizing Broly's about to tear him a new @sshole) Trunks: Goku, get me off this planet right now!! I'm serious!! INSTANT TRANSMISSION!!!
THAT right there is the #1 reason at why i personally love TFS for this abridged. The fact that they pretty much keep an accurate story line from the original series throughout. All why adding the great comedy, editing and voice acting.
9:25 This guy is Mercenary Tao, a vilain of OG Dragon Ball, a professional assassin, the brother of Roshi's rival (Master Crane) and a former mentor of Tenshinhan and Chaozu. He was a human but kid Goku kicked a grenade to his face when they fought and he had to turn into a cyborg to survive and come back stronger (kinda like Freeza). Basically, he is just traumatized by Goku's mere presence now (in the anime, he even fears Gohan for being Goku's son).
Abridged rarely alters the original plotlines. Despite the humor added, most storylines are still probably 95% accurate to the real story. Even the most ridiculous stuff is usually based on reality.
Frieza was a straight menace. But Broly was pretty up there in the savagery corner. He was tanking hits from pretty much everyone. Vegeta couldn't even *fathom* his power. Abridged turned his fear into awe and eventually shock but Broly was putting in work.
Unfortunately, Broly hating Goku for crying next to him is the actual reason why hearing the name Kakarot sets him off. That said, it's also heavily implied that Broly's power slowly drove him insane (based on some anime filler dialogue in the Freeza arc about how the original super saiyan couldn't control his power, I guess) and Paragas, his father, was using a form of shock/mind control collar on him to keep him under control. So, at risk of this sounding a bit headcanon-y, it's possible that by this point, between the mind control and his power, Broly had almost completely lost his mind save maybe for his very earliest, primal memories - i.e. Goku crying - and that's why it triggered him enough to.. snap completely and/or break through the control? I dunno, it was always dumb. The new Broly movie following Super makes much more sense.

The "I think it's your movie next" line is referring to the next movie to come out officially, which was "Bojack Unbound". They reference him a few times in the series with the pirate voice coming from King Kai's planet. When Cell self destructs and blows up King Kai's planet, it lets Bojack free and he attacks earth during a World Martial Arts Tournament with his crew. It's mainly Gohan Centric since Goku is dead at the time. Unfortunately, the Broly movie got released before TFS decided to end things after the Cell Saga, so there was never a next movie for Gohan.

Emperor Pilaf and his gang are basically the Dragonball version of team rocket. They aren’t honestly super evil as far as dragon ball villains go, but TFS has a joke that because they are the first villains Goku faced that he sees them as the embodiment of pure evil
Don't let the parody fool you, Broly isn't one dimensional insane with lame motivation of hating Kakarot in the first movie. It was until its sequels and video games made him like that and fans mistakenly believed that all his character is. In the first movie, he's a calm, yet talktative and sadistic who revels at his destructive action. Goku's cry made him concious and associate to what happened to him in the past with King Vegeta, combined with Paragus attempt to control him driven him to hatred. Thematically, Broly served as a true personafication of Saiyan nature back in the day and the Super Saiyan of legend, foiled to Goku who went against all the Saiyan represent and Broly's antithesis.
vegeta was actually terrified this whole time because aside from paragus, he was the only other one to know about the legendary super saiyan and how powerful he truly was
I genuinely CANT BELIEVE you didn’t react to that guy using vegeta own “average sayian” against him, were you NOT paying attention or did you forgot 😕🤨
The best part is that not only Broly's story was the one told almost exactly as in the film, but also that behemoth literally hates Goku because he cried out loud when they were babies.
Has he watched" Plan to Eradicate Christmas" yet? If not that needs to be on the list before he finishes up DBZA! Some of the funniest lines are in that movie!
Although original Broly had a cringy humor backstory, Broly himself was much better for me in this version. Super Broly is just angry teenager lost in space, and the fight with him had barely any reason. OG Broly although is weirdly hateful of Goku, is also cunning, cold blooded and both enjoys fighting and destroying his enemies. He is like a sayian Cell.

TFS really didn't change Broly's motivations in the DBZ movies at all. Broly's actual motivation there is that he hates Goku just because they shared a nursery and he cried as babies do. Someone years ago speculated that Broly (DBZ) is mentally handicapped (not helped by his father keeping Broly subjected under intense mind control for decades), and that he subconsciously associates his fragmented memories of a crying babe (Goku) with King Vegeta stabbing him and tossing him & his father in a garbage dump, more specifically that Goku had some level of involvement in what happened, hence Broly's hatred of Goku. This admittedly makes more sense, but still left heads a-scratching.

It should be return of cooler, then super 13, and then broly
For the question of "is he the actual legendary super saiyan", thats a little tricky cus they seem to have rewritten that old legend like 3 or 4 times and each time could be a different person. But personally i like to believe that yes he is because his green transformation is unique to him, none of the other characters can access that form so that shows he's something special
Maybe the others became by training while Broly was born all powerful
I personally hate it, and I like that in Super they haven't actually discussed Broly, and just decided to refer to it as Full Power in the games.
@@axllow3914
I like the idea of it if executed correctly because it actually fulfills the legend in a way that makes sense.
Fun fact, at the beginning with Krillin singing, Lani had to intentionally sound bad singing since he's actually really good at singing

Even the most ridiculous stuff is usually based on reality.
the most changed was Wilo
The part where Z Broly hates Goku because he cried as a baby is an actual plot of the movie here
No, it's not, that's a giant misconception. There's an amazing Kanzenshuu thread on this called "Does Broly even remember Goku as a baby?" In it, the thread OP rereboy notes that the film doesn't actually establish Broly remembers Goku from their infanthood, and more critically, that Broly's rage around Goku and the baby scene is meant to be a metaphorical representation of Broly's mental instability and emotional vulnerability because of his own abnormal innate power, which is triggered by Goku's strong will and determination in spite of not having power from birth (Hence baby goku's loud wailing making Broly sob)
Now, that this isn't conveyed well and a lot of people miss it still means that the writing could be better, but if you read the thread I think it's pretty convincing, especially once you get past the initial question of if Broly remembers him and into the narrative/thematic analysis of what's actually said with the baby scene and Broly's anger at Goku and what the theming implies.
@@MajoraZ Yeah, that is a load of horse shit that they just made up later as a poor attempt at a retcom to make it sound better becuase they knew it was stupid. The fact that Broly is the True Legendary Super Saiyan, is so cool to me
He's right up there with Cooler in my opinion.
Thematically, Broly served as a true personafication of Saiyan nature back in the day and the Super Saiyan of legend, foiled to Goku who went against all the Saiyan represent and Broly's antithesis.
vegeta was actually terrified this whole time because aside from paragus, he was the only other one to know about the legendary super saiyan and how powerful he truly was

it was actually foreshadowing that she does end up pregnant again in super
Although original Broly had a cringy humor backstory, Broly himself was much better for me in this version. Super Broly is just angry teenager lost in space, and the fight with him had barely any reason. OG Broly although is weirdly hateful of Goku, is also cunning, cold blooded and both enjoys fighting and destroying his enemies. He is like a sayian Cell.
Personally both are better in different ways. I don’t know if they did it on purpose but having two different options for a hulking monster is perfect

I mean technically it is something they made up. The movie nor toriyama said this was the case and toriyama didn’t even write the story he only designed broky
I always thought it was his pride not letting go of this weakling not letting him sleep.
Broly hates Goku cause he saw a vision as a kid of Goku killing him, same with Goku seeing Planet vegeta being destroyed
The most terrifying Saiyan
Brolly hates goku because he's cry was the last thing he remembers befor he was sentenced to be assasinate and then beat up to the brink of death and after that destruction of his own planet all tragedy
