If you think about it the first Cooler movie can fit into the canon of both the anime and manga set some time during the two years of training to fight the androids
We can see the clear difference between the two brothers lol

While frieza has an army of extremely weak cannon fodder that only serve out of fear besides maybe Ginyu. Cooler just has 3 dudes stronger than the whole ginyu force, and a big ass flat screen.

The guy who voiced Cooler actually went on to become an official dub voice actor for anime. His biggest role is probably Ainz Ooal Gown from Overlord.

For some reason I really love hearing takes from people who got to see the original pre-US releases of DBZ (especially the original Japan ones). If they saw Cooler in theatres in '94, they're probably from France since France got it before everyone else and '94 was the year Cooler came out there.

GeneralIvan, aka Chris Guerrero was a real success story for voice acting. After his work with Teamfourstar, Funimation ( who would work with the guys occasionally) hired the man to do official anime dubs. He does really smooth, deep voices and has done notable roles like Ainz Ool Gown, the villain protagonist of the Overlord anime. When I hear him here, the humble origins make me smile.
I miss Dub of the North Star, he was great as Shin.
I got so hyped when I heard his voice in Fairy Tail. I was like "YOOOOO my man made it pro!"
Honestly this Dragon Ball Z movie is still one of my most favourite DBZ movies.
And Cooler is just so awesome to me.

As much a I love this movie, the one gripe I have with it is that TFS cut the majority of Cooler's beatdown on Goku. It was easily one of the most brutal.

The daughter name thing was a coincidence, there was another filler character named Maron that was his GF
Apparently Toriyama just likes that particular filler character and that's the only reason that he named Krillians daughter Marin.

The callback to the bird during the cell saga is probably my favorite bit in the series
Fun fact, while we don't know the exact way the Frieza race (frost demons) came to be, we do know that they don't exactly reproduce. They're grown in a lab, have their DNA harvested and cloned after altering it to make them stronger/different from the original.
So in this case, that's why Cooler sounds like an older version of Frieza. Because he literally is.

Shockingly, Whiskers the Wonder Cat is a reference to a lesser known dub of the series where a bunch of names were changed and Korin was actually called that. Anime wasn't big yet, so they really didn't give a damn

I would like to point out the irony of coolers death by being blasted into the sun by his ultimate move called "supernova". Which is the term for the explosion of a dying star. The sun is a star so... there lyes the irony.
Yeah, a lot of people don’t know that Jeice and Salza are in fact the same species. It’s been stated that the Ginyu Force members are mutants of their race, which clearly implies that normal members of Jeice and Salza’s race look and sound similar to Salza (aka blue skin, blond hair, and French sounding accent) while mutants such as Jeice have red skin, white hair, and an Australian sounding accent.
Oh man we have to get him to steer backwards and watch World's Strongest and Tree of Might.
Damn this hits a little different after Toriyama has passed teared up a bit watching the bird come back to life and fly off towards the heavens. I thank my stars that I was able to live during the heyday of the western anime explosion and experienced all of these incredible stories.

it's explained in a side story of DBZ:Kakarot that most of the the animal people on earth are just humans that took a magic fad drug that turned them into furries. it was more popular when Goku was a child but fell out of use as time went on, leaving the king of earth, King Furry, to be one of the only people who still use it.

Whiskers the Wonder Cat is a super deep cut joke. There used to be a very old, very bad english dub of DBZ back in the day called the Harmony Gold dub, and they changed a bunch of character's names, like Goku being called Zero, and Krillin's name being Bongo. And Korin, of course, was called Whiskers the Wonder Cat😂
Cooler's voice actor is Christopher Guerrero who went on to work for Funimation and have voiced Ainz Ooal Gown in Overlord (Dubbed), Yata in Fire Force (Dubbed), Worgan in By The Grace of The Gods (Dubbed) and others I can't think of off the top of my head.

This movie to me makes more sense as a alternate story IF goku got off of namek and never visited yardrat after beating frieza. Reason why he cant access super saiyan until he has a emotional catalyst.
The animal people get explained in a DBZ: Kakarot side quest that involves searching for a couple ingredients to cure the transformation and turn anthropomorfic animals back into humans. There was apparently a trend in which some people consumed this weird plant called Animorphaline to get turned into human-animal hybrids. After og DB, they all disappeared.
I think that they are basically on a alien planet. They even had Bipedal pterodactyls people along with T-Rexes .
So, the animal people does get explained in the Kakarot game. There's a drug called Animorphaline (animorphs reference?), Which turns the person taking it into an animal person. I don't know if there are naturally occurring animal people, so I don't know about the king's actual species, but the king is, in fact, a dog. Though there are dinosaur people, such as Giran, a member of the Giras race. He had Goku nearly beaten with his Merry-Go-Round Gum technique where he spits out a thick string of pink gum-like substance to restrain young Goku, but Goku grows his tail back and becomes strong enough to break out of it. Giran wisely decides that since his unbreakable Merry-Go-Round Gum broke, Goku is strong enough to defeat him, and so he surrenders by waving a tiny white flag (where he got it, I have no idea). And no, I'm not making any of that up.
Also, in the DBZ universe, there are werewolves.
The funimation dub for this film had the best soundtrack of any movie I have ever seen

To answer your question about the beastman in Dragon Ball Kakarot there was a side mission that explains why they exist it said that in the past the people took a drug that turned them into Beastman as a fad because it was popular but it grew out of style only some people do it now thats why we dont see them ( New Lore ).
You need a guide on how to watch these in order...

Cool thing is in one of the English Dubs of O.G. Dragon Ball, Korrin (along with most of the cast) got his name localized and in that Eng. dub. Korrins name was Whiskers the Wonder Cat, NO JOKE.
Maron is Krillin’s girlfriend from the non-canon movies and filler. Marron is Krillin’s daughter that he had with Android 18. They are both named after a pun, Krillin’s name in the manga is “Kuririn” which sounds like “Kuri”, the word for chestnut in japanese, and “Maron” is the word for chestnut in french
Also cooler is 100% noncanon. He is never mentioned in canon material.

Just a heads up the Dog being a king is actually just a human who's using appearance altering Drugs and this has been confirmed recently and it's the reason why you see less Anthropomorphic animals in Super as the trend for the drugs seemed to have gone away although there are actually sentient anthropomorphic beings like Puar and oolong though and they are most likely the inspiration for the development of the anthropomorphic drug.
Wait does this mean all the dinosaurs they got running around in the dragon ball world are actually just people who were transformed from drugs.

Maron is a non canon character that is Krilin's ex, from immediately after Namek to immediately before Android saga.
Marron with double R is his daughter, that is currently like 5 years away from being born so it's safe.

He sounds nothing like freeza, u must mean his dialog or his speech patterns.
1- Maron is actually the name of Krillin's current girlfriend, you'll see her in the next abridged episode, Marron (two R's) is the name of his daughter.
2- The main reason Piccolo gets to show off alot in the movies is because he's the strongest fighter around until Vegeta comes back in, so he's mostly used to deal with the Movie Boss' minions, but not do much against the boss himself.
3- Cooler is indeed stronger than Freezer, since Cooler has an extra form (He spends his time in his 4th form, while Freeza only has 4 forms + Full Power), which brings into light how the powerscale for movie heroes is alot higher (and lower in some cases) than their actual canon show counterparts.
4- Cooler's Revenge takes place in that limbo between Namek and Trunks going to the past, which canonly during that time Goku is on planet Yardrat training. If you feel like placing it in canon, you can imagine Goku using Instant Transmission to come to Earth for a few days before going back to Yardrat, hence why he's not mastered Super Saiyan form and only uses it at the end of this movie similar to the reveal against Freeza.
5- I still highly suggest you watch the 3min clip of King Cold recovering Freeza and retrofitting him into Mecha Freeza before you start the next arc, just to tie things together in a nice bow.
