A bit of a tool? What. You know him personally? Tell us about some of the weird experiences you had with him. We'd love to hear them. As far as I know he's a great singer, songwriter, and guitarist. As far as anything else goes. It's just BULL CRAP! Unless you know him of course.
I said it before I'll say it again..I want to see Buckingham all by himself with his guitar in concert.... I'd never pay $500 a ticket for FM even if I were rich. Hope Buckingham is more gracious to his life long fans. FM is not. And we are the people who bought those records and made them rich. I find them greedy.
after watching a few doco's on FM, I think Stevie is the problem... her ego... she thinks it's her band and she has said that basically she will do what she wants to do...regardless... it's all about her... I think she just wanted to get rid of LB, because he was in her way... Yet the only reason she got into FM was because LB insisted that she comes in with him... and that's the thanks LB got... I read something today (although I think it's old news) about how LB wife said that the FM members are just horrible people and she is sick of them and doesn't want anything to do with them anymore...
Disagree. I saw the documentary about the album they made in the early 2000s. Buckingham was every bit as much of a problem, if not more, in those sessions. If anything, he seemed to be the one who was constantly having issues. I think they're both very gifted but difficult people. As for Mrs. LB: c'mon. How must it feel to be married to someone for years, have three kids with them, and still be constantly hearing about his relationship with his ex? Especially when touring means that the wife's at home with the kids while the husband is off with that ex. Of course she's sick of them and wants them out of her and Lindsey's lives. I don't know how she's put up with it for this long.
Judging by what they did to Buckingham, they are horrible, unethical, corrupt people.Often cokeheads rot their brains out and later in life have no morals or code of ethics and are spiritually vacant people.
For the most part, Lindsey is loved and FM will not do so well without him. They may have hired a lot of talent but it's not the same without our Lindsey.
How about this people? Most of the members of the bands from our rock era (the 60's and 70's) are in their late sixties, and early seventies by now. Maybe some of them don't feel like getting up and touring as much anymore, after touring like a million times over the last 45, 50 or so years. It's a lot of hard work performing, and all the traveling too. Shit, I just turned 60, and sometimes I get tired just walking around Walmart a couple of times. lol
In 2012, back before Christine McVie’s return, Lindsey Buckingham was ready to tour again with Fleetwood Mac, but they waited for Stevie Nicks - who didn’t finally get back on the road with the band until 2013. Following McVie’s return a year later, Buckingham was ready to record, and again they waited for Nicks. By the following year, he and McVie had begun recording without her. This went on so long that they completed an entire album, featuring all of the members of Fleetwood Mac - except Nicks, who did another solo tour in 2015. Then, Buckingham and McVie, waiting into 2017, mounted their own separate tour. All of this happened while they waited for Stevie Nicks. Finally, Nicks returned, but by this point Buckingham - understandably, right? - was ready to do something on his own. So they reportedly fired him. Makes perfect sense... that’s from Nick DeRiso on Ultimate Classic Rock. I completely agree with him
If they can tour as a band without Christine and if they can tour as a band without Lindsey, then why can't/couldn't they tour without Stevie? There has to be someone out there who can play her part and sing her songs adequately enough for them to fill in when Stevie's not available, surely!
egoisnotadirtyword There is someone. Larry the lamb and any one of the 3 billy goats gruff can bleat along with the best, and they're all better looking
They're scheduled for Denver CO on Dec 3. I haven't decided if I'll go. Ticket prices for the Pepsi Center are usually over $250 for nosebleed seats. And to not see Lindsey play, I can't rationalize spending the money.
Not long before Lindsey Buckingham was fired, there was a story on an Australian television program about the friendship between Mick Fleetwood and Neil Flynn, and in the course of the story it was intimated that a musical collaboration between the two of them was on the horizon. Coincidence?
Yea.So true...the talent is missing. How could they fire BUCKINGHAM!!He WAS Fleetwood Mac!!He is suing them and he will win.He should see it as a blessing in disguise.
Lindsey Buckingham is the true genius at the recording studio, the arrangements and sound layering that give FM their unique sound are because of him. He is the one who got a simple song from Stevie and made it gold. Now he has a family, he has other priorities and doesn't feel the need to rush for tours so often. He's taking life more calmly and even though he wanted to keep making music and touring, he wanted to take things easier and time to enjoy his life. Non-stop touring was not his #1 priority anymore. In a way I admire the rest of the band's energy, but it surprises me that Mick says that they don't have anything else to do.
I call BS on the whole thing. It was Lindsey that produced Say You Will, the LAST album of new material the band has put out. Ever since, they've been doing the exact SAME hits set with no more new material to speak of. Extended Play (a collection of half-baked demos) and Buckingham-McVie were both placeholders for when Stevie deemed the band worthy of her time again. It's been FIFTEEN years since the band has done anything of significance. They WAITED for Stevie plenty of times and had to put up with her antics. Now a 50th anniversary tour that is probably going to be their last. Really lame ass way to go out...
Buckingham's wish to put off rehearsals for so long leads me to wonder if he may have just wanted to slow down and spend more time with his family, wife and three children.
Somebody is lying here. First of all Nicks says Buckingham wouldn’t do the old songs the band recorded before she and Buckingham joined but Buckingham recorded and sang the band’s decades old hit “oh well” on the “Fleetwood Mac live” double album. And the band had very little commercial success before nicks and Buckingham joined so what makes them think many fans will want to hear those songs anyway (though many of them are excellent). And the band has replaced Buckingham twice before without success and fans wouldn’t accept it so what makes them think it will work now?
Good comment. As someone who saw the band in the late 70s, I can categorically state there was NOBODY yelling for the Peter Green material and she's straight up lying as Buckingham did play 'Oh Well.' Of course, she was probably too high and whirling around on stage to actually remember much of that period and probably figures who'll call her out on it anyway. I'm a crazy Mike Campbell fan but I wouldn't spend a dime to see this lineup.
Not going to pay outrageous prices to not see Lindsey. FM would not be FM w/o Lindsey’s work behind the scenes. I’d really like to see someone out play him.
Judging by the reactions I'm seeing around the Internet, I get the feeling this tour is not going to be the big success the other recent tours have been. Like many of you, I can't see myself shelling out the bucks to attend one of these faux-FM concerts. I prefer to hold onto my memories of the real thing.
They ought to be ashamed of themselves. They haven't made new music in forever and will still want ridiculous prices to watch them sing the same 15 Stevie and Christine songs with fewer Lindsey songs. At the least the Stones still make new music to go along with their never ending tours.
They are only going to be 10 songs that are their greatest hits. The other 13 will from the pre-Lindsey/Stevie era, deep cuts from the Lindsey/Stevie era, solo songs, etc.
Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey... all set with that. Without Lindsey, Fleetwood Mac would never have become the best band of the time. Without Lindsey, Stevie Nicks would never have made it. It’s sad.
It would be nice to play some of the Danny Kirwan era songs again. He wrote some good songs and had a nasty vibrato that Mike Campbell could do justice to. Tom Petty used to play songs off of Kiln House on his Buried Treasure show on Sirius radio a lot.
The problem I have with these larger acts is the ticket prices. After seeing geriatric Black Sabbath without their original drummer, and paying almost $350 for one barely decent seat (plus gas, parking etc), I pretty much swore those kinds of shows off. $350 is a nice amount of groceries.
For those who don't grasp it,when you fire one band member and have to replace them with two people, 1. They were an integral part to the group. 2. Getting rid of them cost you more than keeping them. #itscheapertokeepthem
Stevie Nicks' explanation is very discombobulated. If the relationship between her and Lindsey was so stormy, she could have left the band, filed a restraining order and continue having a solo career. She had solo hits. I will break it down for you Stevie. Everytime you saw Lindsey, you saw that the biggest mistake you made was walking away from him. Now he has what you've always wanted, a spouse and child(ren), and now you're a septuagenarian and regret is excruciating at this stage in life.
You got it.She is a bitter woman, stuck in the past, still trying to create a drama with Buckingham, who has moved on, slander his good name and sabotage his tour. She is JEALOUS because he is happily married with a lovely family he is devoted to.She can't grow beyond her egoic preoccupation with her own regrets. You would think she would be grateful for the fact that he MADE HER CAREER,made all their careers!!
It's no surprise . I saw Fleetwoodmac in Sydney around 10 years ago . It was pretty obvious Lindsay didn't want to be there . He came across as very cranky and when he was finished with one guitar he'd THROW it to the side of the stage . At one point he confronted Stevie on stage with rolling clenched fists (play acting) . She had to play along while singing .
Read Mick fleetwoods book from 1990 this isn't new ,Lindsey always wants to do his own stuff but considering all there ages waiting till 2019 is a bit risky after all they are not in their 20 s or 30 s. In the past 30+ years my husband and I have seen Stevie Nick's on her own ( she's hardley a has been ) you don't come off 70 concert tour and say shes finished. We've seen Fleetwood Mac with and without Lindsey several times great concerts enjoyed ourselves either way. Like I said read the book written by Mick Fleetwood with the help of band members old and new ,spouses and producers as far as what happening with Lindsey same shit different year !!! I personally think Lindsey needs to take some responsibility . He's trying to be the victim when if he probably was a team player and toured this year we would be talking about what a great concert it was . They replaced Lindsey with Billy and Rick in the 80s and it's been over 30 plus years so I hardly believe this is the beginning of the end . If I lived closer to where they are having a concert I'd be there. I'm just grateful my son was able to see this great band when they came to Ottawa a few years back when he was there for school.
@@michelehicks3454 I read Mick's 1990 book but didn't get any of the impressions you did. All 5 members are entangled with affairs and failed marriages to one another that one can imagine its very complex with many old wounds and allegiances. For sure they lost face kicking LB out like this, ultimately an extortion from Stevie.
It is a pity the Buckingham/McVie album wasn't a FM one. Stevie didn't want to contribute. But none of the 3 Post Tango in the Night albums had all 5 "Classic" members. What's the difference?
It's not only about them, but I'll never understand how musicians within a band can be "replaceable'. I understand quitting, I understand additions and changes of musicians at the beginning, but when a band is a myth like they are (or else Queen, INXS... for example), there's no way it can be the same band with new members who will never be truly, historically part of the legacy that made the band famous in the first place. Worse even when they are frontmen, like seems to be the case every time that happens.
Fleetwood Mac doesn't exist anymore. The new band shouldn't be able to play any songs LB wrote or contributed to which leaves very few songs worth listening to, if any.
Lindsey Buckingham is a wise intelligent 70 year old man....he isn't stuck in the past ....look at his physique ....amazing....TUSK HIS MASTERPIECE....AN ARTIST!! A family man....he isn't consumed by social tabloid ....Facebook..side shows..etc
Of course this is all about Stevie- she even said it talking about wanting to keep working. Lindsey wanted to wait. Ok- well I guess Stevie got what she wanted. I highly doubt we'll see a new Fleetwood Mac album with Finn and Campbell.
I'm going to guess that Lindsey wanted to make a new Fleetwood Mac album instead of just cashing in on a greatest hits tour. (Cough, cough....Stones, cough, cough)🤑
I think the problem stems from the fact that Lindsey wanted to record new music. The thing is, Lindsey is a prolific songwriter and probably got bored doing the oldies again and again. On the other side of the coin, the rest of the band just want to tour and make stacks of money. Really hope Lindsey gets back to full health after his recent surgery, his solo stuff is so damned great.
While changing personnel wasn’t completely out of the norm for Fleetwood Mac, they found their true calling some 40 plus years ago when they signed on Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Lindsey wasn’t just a singer, composer and guitarist, he was their backbone. Without lead players the band is only a mediocre rhythm section with a name. It’s 2018, the players are all senior citizens in their 60’s and 70’s and it’s safe to say that their heyday is well behind them and it’s very unlikely that they’ll ever see anything new on the Top 40. At first this was going to be a farewell concert and it’s hard having one without a key player, which was a pretty dick move to part ways with, however you phrase it. The only chance they had of new tricks or spark of creativity is now gone.
Like Lindsey said, " I had my first child at 48 years old and I found my soul mate and Stevie don't have any children so she's the one who can't move on " He has 3 beautiful children and just had an open heart surgery.
Lindsey IS the band. Why didnt they fire Stevie when she held out? The Lindsey/Christine collaboration record was the result of that, and it was classic Mac
Don't cave, Johnny! That's what Mick is counting on, people with enough curiosity to waste $600 or more for a pair of decent tickets to see even older material. You'll never get as much pleasure seeing "Oh Well" with this crappy line-up as you would watching Peter Green and Danny Kirwan perform it right here on youtube. I'll take my money and catch another Elton John concert or a solo Buckingham one or two if he decides to go out on his own (hopefully).
Gotta agree with you here. Instead of creating new music and moving forward, they're drumming up songs that are even more ancient then the ones already on their set list. Rumours is 41 years old, and Tango is 31. Their last new album (Say You Will) is 15!
I don't understand the comment about doing some of the early stuff. The live album from 1980 has Lindsey singing "oh well" and I also have recordings of the "classic five" singing "station man" and "green manalishi "
Myself personally if LB isn’t playing with them then it’s not the Fleetwood Mac that I remember. Of course there were a lot of changes before Buckingham/Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac as well
Lindsey is and always been in my top 5 all time favorite guitar player/singers. He is the real professional of fleetwood mac. Funny how they forget the termoil of the bass player and christines divorce. Stevie would not be who she is if she had not met lindsey. He has my loyality. Back in the day no body wanted to play with green on green manilishi because it was too evil. No one ever had that with lindseys songs. His addition was the bands power to go the distance.
Let's get some perspective here: The firing of Lindsey is an example of discrimination: Here is a quote from ultimateclassicrock.com/fleetwood-mac-stevie-nicks-new-album/ : "Fleetwood similarly blamed Nicks for a long-delayed Fleetwood Mac tour that was supposed to start in 2012, crediting an "obsession" with her solo career. Apparently, not much has changed. "She just doesn't want to spend the time right now," Fleetwood said. "And we're quietly saddened about that, but also I sort of understand." So in Stevie's case Mick Fleetwood understood. Another quote from the article: "It all comes down to Stevie Nicks. She's the one person keeping Fleetwood Mac from completing their first album since 2003's Say You Will, the band's co-founder, drummer Mick Fleetwood, says." But Stevie wasn't fired. Oh no, she was allowed to keep the band from both touring and making a new album!
Stevie Nicks is Fleetwood Mac !!! You can't fire Stevie because she is the voice of Fleetwood Mac!!! Lindsey is just a guitar player with very average skills!! I'm ready for the new lineup!!
Darkness of the Night let us not forget the drama surrounding RUMORS & TUSK at the time was falling & completely FELL by that McVies divorced & Lyndsey & Stevie breaking up as she fell into the arms of Mick as he was also divorcing She holds a place in his heart like no other band mate EVA will get my drift ?? Lol 💞 As I believe both are still single & totally unspoken for as for any current relationship's 🤔 🌈
I was thinking the same thing. They had to work thier tours and albums continuously around Nicks solo schedule. Buckingham was the creative force , without him they are just another band.
Boo Boo Fleetwood Mac RIP 1967--2018, buried between the Rolling Stones and The Who. It makes me ill to see these fossil bands who are already bloated with lots of cash and yet they keep playing for the money. Greedy greedy greedy.
Already saw them on their last two tours with LB and can't imagine the group without him, but I wasn't a fan till the mid to late 70s. As far as i'm concerned it is like the Beatles getting back together (if they were all still alive), but without John Lennon and still calling themselves "the beatles". Sorry, it just doesn't work. That is just me though.
The whole band just needs to retire from touring. They are my favorite band of all time but they are old and just dont perform that well anymore. Minus Buckingham is just a huge hole for the hits they have. They were a super-band for decades but now they are just aged and should hang it up.
Sorry... Early '70s Fleetwood Mac is not worth the price of admission. I can not see 2 other guitarists doing the I'm So Afraid guitar solo,, Go Your Own Way, The Chain, Gypsy, etc. This is the only band in my list of favorites which i did not see live. I hope one day Lindsey will rejoin but it does not he will any time soon. A pity that they could not keep it together.
Or Never Going Back Again, Big Love, Not That Funny or any of the ones Lindsey does major "picking. Boo hiss. No Lindsey no ticket. So disappointing. I too hope Lindsey rejoins but I don't think he will. I wouldn't. Always takes 2 to replace him. Curious, no? (No. And they can't replace him, not truly.) Peace!
One of the things I liked the most about Fleetwood Mac was their diverse sound. While most bands held one single singer to be the lead on most of if not all of the songs they did, that ultimately led to the band sounding the same song after song. Such was not the case with Fleetwood Mac. On one song it would be Stievie Nicks and on another it would be Christie Macvie
While on another still would be Lindsey Buckingham. This to me made this band one of the greats of all time. If they go on tour now, I would like to see how they would do a song like "Big Love" or even better yet, the most classic of iconic ones "Chain" and see how it would even sound as close as good as the original without him. His voice is one of a kind just like Stevie Nicks is and it is irreplaceable Not a smooth move by the group to exclude him from future performances.
Yeah but Stevie can hold her own. She wrote songs in their albums that are classics now. You make it sound that Stevie owed everything to him when she supported their life working when they were not fleetwood mac yet. Fleetwood Mac is great because of all of them.
- Oh give over. Stevie has more than made up for that - she is the one the majority of people go to see Fleetwood Mac for. After more than 45 yeas of putting up with Lindsey's tantrums, controlling ways, she probably had enough of him and said, it's him or me and the Band went with her ! Lindsey has always controlled the Band, and if you look at the making of Tusk, Christine, Lindsey, Mick and John had nothing to do with the record except sing/play in it as Lindsey insisted on playing all the instruments himself and It is well documented that John was a hair's breadth away from decking Lindsey as he went as far as to tell John how to play the bass when it was his turn. Lindsey has been like that ever since.
Have you forgotten that it was Stevie Nicks who pushed him to join the band in the first place? She was tired of supporting the two of them working 2 and 3 jobs. While he stayed at home sleeping and getting high all day. In the end, Stevie is the reason he joined Fleetwood Mac, because she pushed him to do it...
Yea ,he made her career! He wrote mostly all the music to her very mediocre lyrics, making them into brilliant hits. Its unbelievable this group could try and discard the guy that put them all on the map!
i don't mean to upset any old mac fans but i've listened to alot of their stuff pre nicks/buckingham and, i've got to say that that stuff just does nothing for me. i would've rather waited until 2019/2020 to go see them with buckingham and hearing some new stuff as well as the nicks buckingham hits from the 80's.....sorry folks.
no i won't pay to see them without lindsey, i won't see journey without steve perry, and i'm done seeing the eagles after glen passed, nothing lasts forever.
Fired.....they 'had' to let him go under the circumstances. Seems working for FM as a lead guitar player is automatic terms for dismissal. At least Lindsey is in good company. R.I.P. Peter Green and Danny Kirwan
Nobody has interest in new music from Fleetwood mac. The ONLY following comes from the rock followers of the baby boomer era that influenced their children with music from that time. Stevie is not the band, and Christie only found a liking to FM after working with Lindsey. I have no interest in FM without him, neither while it’s all about their own needs. The followers make the band, without us they have nothing. And you have pissed us off.
Larry Meyer that’s not true at all, i’m almost 17 and was introduced to fleetwood mac when i was barley walking by my mother who found them on her own when she was my age. i agree, the band won’t be the same, but that doesn’t mean all of their following is from the baby boomer era and i would LOVE new music :)
Buckingham is Fleetwood Mac. Musician, song writer, live performer. If you ever saw them live, you know what I'm talking about. Stevie and Lindsey rocketed the band to success. Neither is replaceable.
No disrespect but I wouldn’t go just to see Mick Fleetwood and John Mac Vie, they are really good no question but they were finished until they met Lindsey, ok I understand it’s difficult when you can’t unanimously agree, I see from both sides but as it stands Lindsey is out! Those songs that Stevie sings will never be the same the way she stood and looked straight at him the feeling that makes her song special would disappear and turn into just another same old song and likewise how can anyone sing Lindsey’s songs to Stevie, just doesn’t add up, no wonder they are including the old stuff of the original band but can we really relate to this MUSIC totally different and what fans are they aiming to please, the old Fleetwood Mac is dead and buried so why the resurrection ?
I'll miss Lindsey for all his hard work and dedication to the group, but there is way too much catalouge in the arsenal that needs be played. So in that..., all i gotta say is this..., The Green Manalishi!!!!
That was the spin put out by the band and it's manager it was really all about Stevie's refusal to perform with Lindsey. She the power in the band now.
No Lindsey, no Fleetwood Mac. Not interested in their concert without LB. They tried it before & was a disaster. Worse this tour. Very sad but can enjoy their old videos & hits
The truth is finally coming out, slowly. Lindsey wasn't fired as they all agreed. Lindsey didn't want to tour until late 2019 because he is receiving treatment for a very serious health problem. He is physically unable to tour now and the rest of them wanted to get out there. Eventually the entire story will leak out although Lindsey doesn't want to talk about his health which is why he's had no comment. It's a sad situation but they're all getting older, and I'm getting older too.
I've seen Chicago a bunch - and one could argue they're a cover band nowadays... But after Lindsey's departure from Fleetwood Mac I have no interest at all in seeing them live again. He was that big a part of it for me. I would rather see a FM cover than spend the $$$$ to see FM without Lindsey. And a shame too cause I was looking forward to seeing the classic five again one more time. As the song says..."Oh Well"...
In other words Lindsey didn't need the money nor aggravation and wanted some sort of life. Were the rest of F.M had nothing else going on which is sad. And F.M without L.B is the same as the Stones without Keith Richards.
Ok. Now Lindsey had an emergency heart surgery so surely Mick and Stevie realize why he wasn't ready to go into the studio. Come on Fleetwood Mac. Kiss and make up!!!!! The Band is No Good without Lindsey the best damn front man ever
Hi John, I heard that too. Love your reports, John. Done with class... with the backdrop of the band. I have a little trouble with this. The way members are replaced like this... all in the name of moolah... does not smell too good. Don't get me wrong. I think Mike Campbell and Neil Finn are very brilliant but I am not sure that they fit in the FM sound. I think Lindsey is such an integral part of the band.... it ls like replacing Lennon or McCartney in the Beatles for me..... pardon the slight exaggeration.. but maybe not too exaggerated. I still can';t get over how much Lindsey killed it on stage on the last tour I saw him..."On with the Show Tour from 2-3 years ago. Thank you God bless John
They certainly are coming on; they did not want to wait a long time to tour…I am a big Lindsey fan and of the album with Christine, but I like all music related to them.
Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey Buckingham, is nothing, in my opinion. Stevie Nicks' vocal gifts falls flat, again in my opinion, without the arrangements, accompaniment, and personal chemistry between the two. I hope she will realize this after experience with the substitutes for Lindsey that they have put into place. Fleetwood Mac is just ordinary without Lindsey.
Oh yea, they had NOTHING to do with it?!SURE! None of them speak to him! S.N. gave Mick Fleetwood an ultimatum, either she goes or Buckingham. And Mick, being a total money man, dropped all loyalties to the man that made Fleetwood Mac great,Lindsey Buckingham, and made all these ungrateful ,traitor cokeheads rich , on his musical genius.Wow,how outrageously unethical.Naturally,Mick fleetwood picked S.N. because she is an industry creation and has been working at promoting herself and her record sales f o r e v e r ! It just goes to show you how record sales have absolutely nothing to do with real genuine talent. Fleetwood fired Buckingham from his own tour, with a group buckingham largely put on the map and was the creative backbone of(him and Christine McVie) TIME FOR A BOYCOTT
Couldn't agree more. Lindsey was the musical force of FM, and his talent as a producer ALONE elevated that band, to say nothing about his talents as a singer and songwriter. Without Lindsey, Stevie would be selling her poems and doing book signings for about 5 people on a Barnes and Noble tour. He created the entire commercial and musical foundation for FM.
I'm a huge fan of Mike Campbell, and love Neil Finn. Find it amazing that these two major players would end up joining Fleetwood Mac. But FM without Lindsey Buckingham... not sure I can go for that. Going to give it a chance and listen to what the music sounds like.
Ron Lafleur all my favorite songs seem to be Lindsey songs...I bet they will not even try to do..bleed to love her or...so afraid...how could they without Lindsey.....
I dont really get FM rationale Lindsey cancelled his solo tour gigs to go with FM while seeking an understanding that he could do solo during his days off..95% of the time you have a choice and FM made a choice...Lindsey would have worked with them.. Lindsey got a settlement of some kind which says something was unfair...This Azoff guy sounds like a piece of work...i guess as long as Irving gets his payday he doesnt care about the band etc.
Complete bullcrap! Lindsey and Stevie did do "The Green Manalishi" back in the '70s. Lindsey also did "Oh Well" during the "Tusk"tour. [Warner Bros. 3500-2] The rest of the band should listen to their live concert tapes! Lindsey wants to go forward.....
On their most recent tours, they just have done a greatest hits set. Lindsey didn't want to do anything outside of his era. This is the 50th anniversary tour of Fleetwood Mac, not their 43rd.
I believe, that Stevie finally “broke the chain” and “go (with Fleetwood Mac) her own way”. She became involved with Mike Campbell in recent years and wanted inducted him (after Tom Petty died) in Fleetwood Mac, but Linsey was against that option. That is the only reason for the final split with Lindsey. She wanted her “silver springs” with Mike Campbell and that is the next 10 years without arguing with Lindsey, she was talking about. The “Rumours” split or “incestuous love”, as Carol Ann Harris put it in Storms, is very much alive in this days.P.S.: Also Christine McVie and Neil Finn are good looking pair, aren’t they?
For me, Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey Buckingham is not Fleetwood Mac 😞
I’m 64. Fleetwood Mac was so in tune for me in the 70s and 80s. Without lb the magic is gone. Really sucks!
Without Lindsey, it's not FM, some band members are not replaceable.
Chetallica LB ain't one of them
FM need him more than he needs them
Yep
Stevie is single Lindsey has a family he cares about. What a concept!
Lindsey may be a bit of a tool, but he really is a legend. One of the most underrated guitarist to grace the stage, and that thumb! Man, that thumb!
A bit of a tool? What. You know him personally? Tell us about some of the weird experiences you had with him. We'd love to hear them. As far as I know he's a great singer, songwriter, and guitarist. As far as anything else goes. It's just BULL CRAP! Unless you know him of course.
No Lindsey, no Fleetwood. Period.
Norah Stuff Disagree. They made great music long before he and Stevie ever joined!
Norah Stuff you got that right
Veronica Vance you got that right
I said it before I'll say it again..I want to see Buckingham all by himself with his guitar in concert.... I'd never pay $500 a ticket for FM even if I were rich. Hope Buckingham is more gracious to his life long fans. FM is not. And we are the people who bought those records and made them rich. I find them greedy.
Same here. Rather spend my money on solo Lindsey anyway.
after watching a few doco's on FM, I think Stevie is the problem... her ego... she thinks it's her band and she has said that basically she will do what she wants to do...regardless... it's all about her...
True.
Shit, I just turned 60, and sometimes I get tired just walking around Walmart a couple of times. lol
Sorry there is no Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey !!
End of story !!
I'll NEVER Go See or Hear Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey !!!!!
There just a coverband now. They tried this back in the 80s had 2 guys replace Lindsey. Didn’t work then won’t work now.
My feeling exactly
Same here. As far as I'm concerned, the last tour was my "farewell" tour.
They act like nobody will care if LB is in the band or not. Wouldn't see this if I was given a ticket.
Too right. All his history and he barely gets a mention from his band mates. It’s astonishing actually
Wow your going to miss out on the best version of Fleetwood Mac!!!
Yay more seats for real fans!
Ditto
Not long before Lindsey Buckingham was fired, there was a story on an Australian television program about the friendship between Mick Fleetwood and Neil Flynn, and in the course of the story it was intimated that a musical collaboration between the two of them was on the horizon. Coincidence?
Then Neil Flynn died, and Mick had to call his OTHER mate, Neil Finn.
Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey is like the Beatles without John; it's nice but something special is definitely missing.
Except John was a fucking arsehole
Without Lindsey, it isn't Fleetwood Mac - they've gone away before, now gone for good.
Fleetwood Mac without Buckingham is like a cone without ice cream.
Fleetwood Mac would not exist at all if it was not founder guitarist singer Peter Green, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood.
You mean crisp and clean before it turns into a soggy mess?
Buckingham's wish to put off rehearsals for so long leads me to wonder if he may have just wanted to slow down and spend more time with his family, wife and three children.
He asked to put it off three months because he was already committed to his other project. They postponed for Nicks before.
Ron DayVoo I'm with ya... this is messy.
I'm a crazy Mike Campbell fan but I wouldn't spend a dime to see this lineup.
cuz I said so. ;D
Not going to pay outrageous prices to not see Lindsey. FM would not be FM w/o Lindsey’s work behind the scenes. I’d really like to see someone out play him.
Plus we all Loved the way Lindsey loved Stevie on stage the chemistry that boiled over to us all
I have no choice but to not go to Fleetwood Mac concerts now
Bye Felicia.
Well that's it, then. They'll have to disband if you're not going
Well said , they're just stevie and micks money making machine now
Judging by the reactions I'm seeing around the Internet, I get the feeling this tour is not going to be the big success the other recent tours have been. Like many of you, I can't see myself shelling out the bucks to attend one of these faux-FM concerts. I prefer to hold onto my memories of the real thing.
Yep, The prices for this tour are too high...crazy. Saw them in the seventies with John Cougar playing as their warm up for $18.00
They ought to be ashamed of themselves. They haven't made new music in forever and will still want ridiculous prices to watch them sing the same 15 Stevie and Christine songs with fewer Lindsey songs. At the least the Stones still make new music to go along with their never ending tours.
They are only going to be 10 songs that are their greatest hits. The other 13 will from the pre-Lindsey/Stevie era, deep cuts from the Lindsey/Stevie era, solo songs, etc.
well no Lindsey Buckingham it's not Fleetwood Mac would wast my money
Connor Uh name one? The 87 tour sucked.
Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey... all set with that. Without Lindsey, Fleetwood Mac would never have become the best band of the time. Without Lindsey, Stevie Nicks would never have made it. It’s sad.
Buckingham played Oh Well multiple times, brilliantly, I might add.
They needed two musicians to replace Lindsey! That alone tells the story!
Same thing in 1990 when they replaced him. 2 people.
For those who don't grasp it,when you fire one band member and have to replace them with two people, 1. They were an integral part to the group. 2. Getting rid of them cost you more than keeping them. #itscheapertokeepthem
I’m sure Mick Fleetwood really doesn’t like that word “fired” after Lindsay sued and they settled, out of court, for an undisclosed amount.
Spot on he really loved her
😂y'all got it so twisted
Wow! That doesn't sound good???
Washed-out has-been lushes. They made their zillions off the back of one album. Buck is a superb, flawed guitarist with his own sound.
Fleetwood Mac doesn't exist anymore. The new band shouldn't be able to play any songs LB wrote or contributed to which leaves very few songs worth listening to, if any.
they have performed Station Man with Buckingham in the band, though it was a long time ago during the Rumors days!!
Why would you even bother seeing them without him? Especially for the completely ridiculous pricing
Yeah when has Mike Campbell done any albums worth noting "rolls eyes"
Lindsey had another life - a family - Stevie - nothing.
Blah blah blah. It really comes down to no Lindsey Buckingham...no interest whatsoever in Fleetwood Mac.
No Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey Buckingham! I will not be listening to anything new
Like Lindsey said, " I had my first child at 48 years old and I found my soul mate and Stevie don't have any children so she's the one who can't move on " He has 3 beautiful children and just had an open heart surgery.
Lindsey IS the band. Why didnt they fire Stevie when she held out? The Lindsey/Christine collaboration record was the result of that, and it was classic Mac
I think this is Stevie's doing....
Stevie and Mick. Shame on John and Christine for not standing up.
Of course there were a lot of changes before Buckingham/Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac as well
I hear Peter Green & Danny Kirwan might be looking for a gig...
I will not go see Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey Buckingham. He was my favorite part of Fleetwood Mac. And that's all I have to say about that.
I totally agree. I have no desire. I'm usually ok with changes in lineup, but not with this one. His playing can't be replaced.
Turmoil
Let's get some perspective here:
The firing of Lindsey is an example of discrimination:
Here is a quote from ultimateclassicrock.com/fleetwood-mac-stevie-nicks-new-album/ :
"Fleetwood similarly blamed Nicks for a long-delayed Fleetwood Mac tour that was supposed to start in 2012, crediting an "obsession" with her solo career. Apparently, not much has changed. "She just doesn't want to spend the time right now," Fleetwood said. "And we're quietly saddened about that, but also I sort of understand."
So in Stevie's case Mick Fleetwood understood.
Another quote from the article: "It all comes down to Stevie Nicks. She's the one person keeping Fleetwood Mac from completing their first album since 2003's Say You Will, the band's co-founder, drummer Mick Fleetwood, says."
But Stevie wasn't fired. Oh no, she was allowed to keep the band from both touring and making a new album!
Yep. She’s a total diva.
Stevie Nicks is Fleetwood Mac !!! You can't fire Stevie because she is the voice of Fleetwood Mac!!! Lindsey is just a guitar player with very average skills!! I'm ready for the new lineup!!
Darkness of the Night I
Darkness of the Night let us not forget the drama surrounding RUMORS & TUSK at the time was falling & completely FELL by that McVies divorced & Lyndsey & Stevie breaking up as she fell into the arms of Mick as he was also divorcing
She holds a place in his heart like no other band mate EVA will get my drift ?? Lol 💞
As I believe both are still single & totally unspoken for as for any current relationship's 🤔 🌈
I was thinking the same thing. They had to work thier tours and albums continuously around Nicks solo schedule. Buckingham was the creative force , without him they are just another band.
RIP Fleetwood Mac.
Nobody no matter how good could ever replace Lindsey
I will NEVER see Fleetwood Mac without Lindsay! The band fucked him over. He WAS the band!
A pity that they could not keep it together.
gosh i dont want to hear anyone else sing I;m so afraid
Has Stevie forgotten that she’s only in Fleetwood Mac because Lindsay said that they were a package ?
Have you forgotten that she's had a much better solo career than Lindsay ever had?
If they're playing older songs I hope Black Magic Woman is on their setlist
Good thing I saw them in the 90’s, just not interested without Buckingham
Lindsey is far and away the biggest talent in the band.
I thought he wanted Stevie to join him last year when he and Christine toured ?! Stevie can also be difficult!
i don't mean to upset any old mac fans but i've listened to alot of their stuff pre nicks/buckingham and, i've got to say that that stuff just does nothing for me. i would've rather waited until 2019/2020 to go see them with buckingham and hearing some new stuff as well as the nicks buckingham hits from the 80's.....sorry folks.
no i won't pay to see them without lindsey, i won't see journey without steve perry, and i'm done seeing the eagles after glen passed, nothing lasts forever.
Larry Meyer that’s not true at all, i’m almost 17 and was introduced to fleetwood mac when i was barley walking by my mother who found them on her own when she was my age. i agree, the band won’t be the same, but that doesn’t mean all of their following is from the baby boomer era and i would LOVE new music
:)
Yes they have and we will boycott their bullshit tour they planned from the corrupt treatment of Buckingham. You won't get our money TRAITORS!!
Buckingham is Fleetwood Mac. Musician, song writer, live performer. If you ever saw them live, you know what I'm talking about. Stevie and Lindsey rocketed the band to success. Neither is replaceable.
Tim Breakiron Everybody is replaceable. Everybody. If PaulMcCartney can be replaced then Buckingham is a footnote....
No disrespect but I wouldn’t go just to see Mick Fleetwood and John Mac Vie, they are really good no question but they were finished until they met Lindsey, ok I understand it’s difficult when you can’t unanimously agree, I see from both sides but as it stands Lindsey is out! Those songs that Stevie sings will never be the same the way she stood and looked straight at him the feeling that makes her song special would disappear and turn into just another same old song and likewise how can anyone sing
Lindsey’s songs to Stevie, just doesn’t add up, no wonder they are including the old stuff of the original band but can we really relate to this MUSIC totally different and what fans are they aiming to please, the old Fleetwood Mac is dead and buried so why the resurrection ?
Maybe Lindsey Buckingham felt trapped by FM.
@Steven Miller
Uh-ha.
Saw them live ... Lindsey was awesome best guitarist I've ever seen live ... Ok 2nd best RIP EVH
What a disaster. Please just take your drama and your egos and fade off into the sunset.
I gotta tell ya. Fleetwood Mac ain't shit without Lindsey
Great job John, we have really become fans of your show!
Thanks so much.
In other words Lindsey didn't need the money nor aggravation and wanted some sort of life. Were the rest of F.M had nothing else going on which is sad. And F.M without L.B is the same as the Stones without Keith Richards.
Worse than the Stones without Richards. The Stones would still have Jagger. FM loses its lead guitarist and front man in one fell swoop.
Ok. Now Lindsey had an emergency heart surgery so surely Mick and Stevie realize why he wasn't ready to go into the studio. Come on Fleetwood Mac. Kiss and make up!!!!! The Band is No Good without Lindsey the best damn front man ever
Agreed. It will never be the same or "as good" without Lindsey. Period.
@@beverlystaley9698 Absolutely.
Hi John,
I heard that too.
Thank you
God bless
John
Lindsey Out after all these years. Come on Guys.. I loved the Buckingham-Mcvie album from last year. So good!
While Stevie was out front being the main vocalist it was Lindsey behind-the-scenes that made her songs what they were
Oh yea, they had NOTHING to do with it?!SURE!
Already done! SN just a drama queen..
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏
I'm a huge fan of Mike Campbell, and love Neil Finn. Find it amazing that these two major players would end up joining Fleetwood Mac. But FM without Lindsey Buckingham... not sure I can go for that. Going to give it a chance and listen to what the music sounds like.
Ron Lafleur all my favorite songs seem to be Lindsey songs...I bet they will not even try to do..bleed to love her or...so afraid...how could they without Lindsey.....
both times it took two guitar players to replace lindsey and still havent done that
They won't replace his genius. They are stupid as well as unethical
I dont really get FM rationale
Lindsey cancelled his solo tour gigs to go with FM while seeking an understanding that he could do solo during his days off..95% of the time you have a choice and FM made a choice...Lindsey would have worked with them..
Lindsey got a settlement of some kind which says something was unfair...This Azoff guy sounds like a piece of work...i guess as long as Irving gets his payday he doesnt care about the band etc.
Its all on Stevie, who gave all the other band members an ultimatum. Had nothing to do with LB's tour plans. They caved.
Exactly...its their loss
She became involved with Mike Campbell in recent years and wanted inducted him (after
Tom Petty died) in Fleetwood Mac, but Linsey was against that option. That is
the only reason for the final split with Lindsey. She wanted her “silver
springs” with Mike Campbell and that is the next 10 years without arguing with
Lindsey, she was talking about. The “Rumours” split or “incestuous love”, as Carol
Ann Harris put it in Storms, is very much alive in this days.P.S.: Also Christine McVie and Neil Finn are good looking pair, aren’t they?
Without Lindsay they flatlined.
