- As most of you know, targeting kob must be my most favourite facet of angling! My brother came to visit and we had a beautiful weather build up for the kob, so obviously this would be our targeted species. with the south east wind blowing we headed to the beach to target kob or as they are known in Australia mulloway or jewfish. We got really lucky and hooked and landed some beautiful kob using live mullet and octopus as bait.

How’s it Xander Ive been working on getting my setups together and I’m just seeking some final advice or guidance on what I currently have if you could suggest anything or recommend anything it would be greatly appreciated , I want to catch Kob, Steenbras and Galjoen on the eds side of things and I want to catch Bronzies, Raggies, Spotties and Rays on the non eds side of things , I’ve got two setups, one for eds and one for non eds if you could pls guide me on if I should change anything or if my setups are ok for what I want it for , do I need another heavier or lighter setup etc? my eds setup is as follows:
14ft Solar MH
Spheros 10000PG
300m 30lb grinder backing, 300m 30lb grinder topshot
100lb braid Leader just longer than my rod
My non eds setup is as follows:
14ft6 Solar XH
Saragosa 20000PG
400m 50lb Grinder HD backing, 300m 65lb JDB Ultra Tech Topshot
All my leaders are connected with neatly tied FG and all my backing and Top shot is connected with two neatly tied FGs onto a piece of 150lb

Hows it man?! Well with those to setups you will be able to target anything. Any setups you get now will be just an addition to your arsenal and a little something to spoil yourself.
You have many options to spoil yourself when the day comes that you feel you want another setup. You can go heavier, lighter, longer, shorter.
But for now I reckon you are sorted, unless you want two setups when you go edible fishing….

What do you think of finishing the FG with a Rizutto ??
And could I use my XH to throw a live bait for a big Kob if I really want to or is it a waste?

How do the new evo infinity compare to the previous generation? I was saving for the 6-8oz and these new rods got released. Id like to aim for the number 7 to target large edibles and smaller non eds..is this a good choice?
They are better in every way! For what you want to do I would rather opt for the nr 6
@@zoolookfishing i currently have the golden 3-5oz. Wouldnt the 6 be too close? Also I just got a slammer 7500. Would the reel work on the 6? Would 40lb braid or 50lb braid be the best. Sorry for all the questions and thank you for your responses
