    I worked for several Audi Franchises over the course of 19 years and drove all the cars you showed except the RS3 which just appeared after I left although I used a TTRS for a few days which obviously has a related engine. The original shape TT also towards the end of its model cycle was available as a 3.2 which was magnificent - really rich, creamy, almost 5-cylinder gargle to it and so, so powerful. The only thing I remember being even more insanely fast was the five litre RS6 V10 - which by the way I preferred over the normally aspirated 5.2 as it didn't need to be revved so high and had a more woofly bass baritone rather than the shrieking "double five" Ur-quattro rally car sound which - forgive me - is all very well and exciting within a video like this, but quickly gets wearing in real life! It's a really really hard decision to make as I'm so tempted by the old TT 3.2 but accepting that's arguably more a VW engine than an Audi (although it's ultimately the same company so the distinction is moot....), acknowledging the wonderful 2.2 and 5.0biT V10, I guess my favourite was the B7 RS4 which for its phenomenal V8, slick manual, sober but sinister looks, relative simplicity (I can't stand all this lane assist/night vision/endless driving modes etc that are nothing but complications, clutter and distractions) and effortless, rock solid yet nimble, precision handling is really hard to beat. The S5 Coupe 4.2 was a lovely thing, too. Great video - so admire your enthusiasm and energy not to mention managing the language barrier - hope the Like and Comnents help!

    The older Audi engines are pretty solid, but roughly from 2004 to 2012 they made some horrible garbage like the 3.2 FSI and some 1.8 and 2.0 TFSI engines are known for excessive oil consumption due to badly designed piston-rings.

      The later model 3.2 engines are different, have also a little bit larger capacity and are better. The older ones suffer from chain tensioner failure. Would not recommend an 2.0 TFSI from around 2010 tough. If you really want one, be sure an Audi specialist upgraded the piston rings. Better an indepent shop than a dealership, they probable used the same faulty OEM rings and the problem comes back after a few 10.000 km

Only thing I ever had to do (engine wise) was coils and the water pump, which ain’t that big of a deal. Every car has to change coils after 200,000 and it’s super easy on it. So even though it’s not the fastest thing ever, its still really enjoyable and reliable.

    As an Audifan I appriciate this Video but I think you missed the 1.8t 20V. Also the 4.2 V8 Part isnt that easy, there a dozen of differnet 4.2 V8 engines in the history of Audi. You talked about the high reving 4.2 FSI from the b7rs4/b8rs4/r8 and showed the 4.2 from the b6 which is a completly different engine besides the amout of cylinders.

    • @codybrinkworth6014
      @codybrinkworth6014 5 лет назад +2

      einsfuenfneun as another Audifan I also appreciate this video however I must graciously correct your statement the high reving engine (CFSA) being in the r8 it was only found in the b8 rs4 and the 2010-15 rs5 the r8 v8 was a completely different engine only really sharing displacement. I do agree tho there are so many different Audi v8's with different characteristics

    • @owngun
      @owngun 5 лет назад

      @@codybrinkworth6014 The Audi R8 was initially equipped with a 4.2 litre V8 engine. Specifically, it is an all-aluminium alloy 32-valve (four valves per cylinder) petrol engine,[4] utilising Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI),[4] and has a displacement of 4,163 cubic centimetres (254.0 cu in).[4] It develops a motive power output of 420 metric horsepower (309 kW; 414 bhp) (Directive 80/1269/EEC),[4] and generates 430 newton metres (317 lbf⋅ft) of torque,[4] on 98 RON 'Super Unleaded' petrol. It is basically the same engine used in the Audi B7 RS4, but is modified to use a dry sumplubrication system. It uses two chain-driven double overhead camshafts (DOHC) per cylinder bank, and utilises variable valve timing for both inlet and exhaust camshafts.

      Yes the b7 rs4 and r8 share the same engine however this is not the highreving v8 you mentioned in your first comment. The high revving v8 in the rs5 and b8 rs4 is essentially the Lamborghini v10 with 2 cylinders chopped off (obviously there's a bit more too it then that but Audi used technology learned from the v10 and implemented it onto a new v8 platform)

      The CFSA engine has a rev limit at 8400 rpm not much of a difference from the bns engine but is the what I've read the "high revving v8" there are a few fundamental differences between the two engines but essentially the same design I know that the intake and compression ratio are definitely different and I'm sure a few subtle changes as you can definitely hear the difference between the two engines even with the same exhaust setups
