TP has been facing a lot of problems, however it is one of the safest carriers to fly. I've always had good experiences with them, even if with a couple of delays here and there. The crews are not super friendly, but once you engage with them, they are ok. The NEO is a really nice plane. As for corruption, it is everywhere Josh, at least over there it is out on the open; not that it is acceptable of course. Thanks 4 picking up TP. ❤️🇵🇹❤️
As a Patreon supporter, glad to see the contributions going to good use haha.. Seriously though, 497k subscribers, amazing! Any plans on a celebration at reaching half a million?
Fantastic African series Josh! Really enjoyed. I’m half Mozambican, born and raised there. Flew on TAP many times on this route on the A340-300, very fond memories. There was a special feeling like if you’ve already arrived in Europe when boarding the plane in Maputo for my summer holidays in Spain. Back then like most airlines, the second meal service was a full hot meal. The flight was mainly a nighttime flight, departing Maputo around 8pm and landing in Lisbon at 5am. Dinner + breakfast with an omelette was a standard. I believe the shutting the window blinds is to allow everyone to sleep and easier to watch a movie, I’ve seen it on Westbound transatlantic flights as well. It’s a pity Mozambique has become so corrupt, I understand that many salaries are extremely low and this is a chance to make a bit more but it has become so engraved in the dna of the country that sometimes you completely dismiss it, and just pay to get things done. I hope it won’t discourage people from visiting, Mozambique needs the tourism, and the people are warm and welcoming despite some of our shortcomings.
Why do you guys are trying to make it sound like Mozambique is that corrupt..corruption is everywhere in the world, you see it in Mozambique because you already have that in your mind so that even when people are simply trying to play with you because they are too friendly, you take that as if they are trying to get some money from you... you need to understand people's behaviour with an open mind before jumping to dirty conclusions based on your ungrounded thoughts. stop that
I only had the pleasure of taking the old service A340 once, in 2017, but on TAPs old, worn Biz recliners. It was definitely an experience, my first long haul business class trip and TAP was definetly making up for the worn cabin with excellent service and food. Fast Lane in Maputo consisted of a couple guys you could bribe to get taken to the front of the queues but once you got on the plane it was really special. Had the worst turbulence of my life on the way back tho. Straight down a couple hundred feet over the Sahara, soup on everone/thing in the cabin.
Working in the customer service industry myself I know the biggest mistake a company or business can make is to ignore the feedback of even one person. That person has friends and family that they are sharing their experience with which means your not just losing the business of one customer (that you don’t care about) your losing the business of potentially hundreds of people. I wish more companies and businesses would remember that.
You took the words out of my mouth. If the worse one has to say about a airline is that they are boring, then I'm definitely adding it to my list of preferred airlines.
I took TAP Air Portugal on 2 occasions. The first time from YUL to BER via LIS and the second time from YUL to ARN via LIS. The YUL to LIS segment is done with a A321 Neo LR, a small airliner for a transatlantic, but the produce is better than Air Transat similar Aircraft on the same route. The big problem for TAP is Lisbon Airport. It is old, overcrowded and that meens frequent delays. And a lot of stress. On the return of my trip to Berlin, the incoming flight from LIS was 30 minutes late for trafic in LIS... and departed one hour late. So I miss my flight to Montréal. TAP crew at LIS were fantastic. They were waiting for passengers and I was put on a flight to Toronto then Montréal. I arrived 5 hours late... I asked for the 600 Euros for late flights and I got it with no problems. Second flght, on time... but... there were so much people on passport control and security that the 1h45 that I had between the 2 flights was not enough. I was the late in the plane as they were closing the doors... only because I took a shortcut in the line at security. So be sure to have plenty of time if you have a transfer at Lisbon. That's sad because TAP offers a great product at a very small price.
I think TAP is a great carrier. Being in the Star Alliance and being a full service airline with cheap prices really reels me in. I’m flying round trip to Faro from JFK with a stopover in Lisbon. It’s only about $80 extra for business on both flights with one reservation, which is great because even though it’s European Business, it’s still nice to get an actual breakfast on the short 45 minute flight to the Algarve after the continental breakfast served on the flight from New York.
it's not a full service airline, and it's far from great... actually it's one of the worst european flagship airlines out there service wise; i had a 4h transcontinental trip to africa in business without decent food (cold and blant), instant coffee and economy type seats, NO IFE ... it's not even close to an economy on an airline like emirates or ANA... i flew with TAP a couple of times so i know what im talking about
@Jinadath on a respectable airline, when it comes to service, especially during the flight, you can't expect to "get lucky"; the airline must be consistent with the service.... i'm not saying one detail could not go wrong on occasion, that happens, and as passengers we need to just cope with that; i'm talking about real bad service becoming a culture on this airline... they are safe and professional, but service wise it is degrading to unacceptable levels.. i will only book with these guys unless I absolutely do not have a choice

In my days it was the Lourenço-Marques / Salisbury / Luanda / Lisbon flight on Boeing 707, and every flight was an adventure. But never ever arrived on schedule in Lisbon, most often getting stuck in Luanda to sort out "technical" problem(s), having to wait patiently on the first floor of the airport where we were given luke warm "cold drinks" of every colours.... It's also on one of those days that we had to wait for a spare engine from Lisbon, and it is the only time I saw in reality a 5 engine B707 as the incoming flight had the spare engine attached under its wing.
I flew Tap from LHR to Lisbon and I agree Lisbon is beautiful specially at night from above , the business class within Europe is horrible and I would never upgrade few passengers complained and said it wasn’t worth the 500£ the had paid .
Probably you knew it already, but in case you didn't, tap catering is one of the best in the world because back in 2017 all the catering was redesigned by 6 portuguese Michelin star chefs, not only the meals itself but the heating process, the packaging, the storage, etc

Great Africa series Josh. Maybe one day you can come to the US and do a thorough review of all the US airlines. Will be curious to see your reviews particularly with Southwest and Alaska Airlines.
I’ve done a lot of travelling by air since the 60s and seen many many changes including 27 years in the industry. I was thinking of using TAP as I have a friend whose gone back from here in Australia due to Covid and wants me to come. So thanks so much! Flew TAP in 2018 Milan- Lisbon on the original A319, TTA. Enjoyed the crew who, along with pilots, wished us farewell on disembarking- a nice touch! I'll certainly fly TAP again.
The only time the crew can tell passengers to do something with the shades is raising them for landing. Telling them to lower them is most likely to get them to sleep - making the crew’s job easier. If other pax are bothered by the light they can wear eyeshades. People who fly during the day and sit by the window have a right to look outside. SMH

Loved learning about Africa! Very interesting series. I hope you don’t get in trouble for talking about the corruption within the officials of the government in your final stop.
Loved the African series We would love ❤️ to see South America this time! Ecuador, Peru and Chile, the Galápagos Islands in Ecuador 🇪🇨 would be spectacular!!
I fly myself regularly to Brasil with Tap. I have to say that there is a huge difference between the crews on European flight and the ones on long distance. On my connecting flights to and from Lisbon had always very friendly crews but on the long flight to Brasil I can only say they do their job but nothing else. No friendly chat, quick, quick service with absolutely no personal touch. Do also fly business class (seat excellent on the a330 neo, far better than Lufthansa), the food is fine and in Y the seats are nice and food also no complaints. A few months ago flew back from Brasil to Lisbon. The stewardess only said : pasta or meat..? Within 50 minutes the service was over and this with a nearly full plane.. It's a pity because I never had great delay, they have got an excellent safety record but really 90 % of the long distance crews are not friendly at all. A pity....
I love both night and day flights. Both have their perks. In the day, you get to see the city properly and at night, it looks beautiful with the lights and all
10:26 reminds me about United Airlines going from Frankfurt to Chicago. They have a list what to expect during the flight, there they wrote: "Lights off". I was not thinking much about that. Then the cabin crew darkened the windows of the 787 after breakfast. I took this opportunity to sleep a bit because I can't sleep in planes. I haven't flown over the pond in over three years... No idea how and why, maybe it is for the jet lag. Lisbon belongs on every bucket list. The houses with tiles are beautiful.
Friendly crew, great wines even in economy class and even when things aren´t going according to plan, they try to solve or make it up. Have been using TAP for the last 20+ years...
Great review. 1. Like you I prefer a long day flight since I have trouble sleeping upright in a chair. 2. Blind closing is definitely an issue these days, particularly in the US where I find flight attendants are somewhat obsessed with everyone closing their blinds. What’s the point of having a window seat? I understand daylight can make it difficult for others to see their video screens better or take a nap, but a reasonable person in a window seat should understand this. For this reason, I avoid 787 aircraft because I don’t want the crew to decide when I look out my window. Cheers.
Africa always seems so unorganized and hectic when traveling. I want to see some places some bloggers usually don’t go. I thought I heard you say Greenland in your last Africa vlog so if you’re going there that’d be awesome!!
I don't think I'll ever understand "Euro-Business". On top of that, I think my first encounter (IE: walking through during boarding) was on a Lufthansa A321. I like to arrive sometime after 10am. Arrive at the hotel by noon and in time to get some lunch.....
The budget for air-con was probably needed for bribes. I flew TAP in 1972 to Lisbon from Harare and was relegated to a crew jump seat when we landed in Luanda as the seat had been double booked. I couldn't argue as none of the crew spoke English.
@ユジン Yes, the world has changed, not always for the better and we were, even at that time, told so many lies about what was going on. All the "powers that be" have just become more sophisticated at telling lies.
My first ever flight was in 1962, from Zambia to Johannesburg! From then I loved flying… even though I was only 2 years old at the time 😅 I have not flown to many international destinations but am hoping that this year (2023) that I will be visiting family in USA which I am beyond excited about. To get up into the skies again will be so awesome.
As you asked what some would like to see, I would really like if you could review the Air France a350, but if possible not on the shorter flights as many trip reports are on… Maybe on the South American flights or the Seattle routes… Loved the Africa tour!
One single window open on a plane during day time will ruin the sleep of everyone else on the plane. I want to arrive sharp and rested, so thank you crews for making sure everyone shuts those blinds
The "window shades battle" is ridiculous on a day flight. I hate shutting out that light. If people want to sleep, they have eye shades. (The naughty bit of me wonders whether people sleeping in the dark means the crew aren't disturbed.)
You should fly Qantas,Air New Zealand and South African Airways and come back to Pakistan because a new airline is on the way. What a wonderful, smooth journey this was. Keep up the good work as always.
Hi Josh, have been watching several of your videos. It’s amazing! The efforts that you put in for the reviews, remarkable. Your videos aid in providing information on the airlines that one needs to prefer. I do prefer the day flights.
My opinion on night flight is very bias based on the flights I take. I live in Canada, my family lives in Brazil. The longest flight I take is from YYZ-GRU and vice versa. It's a 9-10 hours flight. Considering the time it takes to finish dinner and breakfast realistically you will have 4-6 hours of sleep.I have a very light sleep so 4 hours is the maximum I will sleep on this flight, most of the time is less than that. So after I arrive I am tired because I did not sleep enough, and I have one entire day ahead so I basically lose the entire day to rest. However I understand that on flights above the 13 hour mark if you can sleep 8 hours it would be more interesting to fly at night, since I never take a flight this long I still prefer morning flights all the way.
I highly recommend visiting Italy 🇮🇹 , since I was born there of course I am going to say Italy is very beautiful 🤩. Please go to Italy especially Milan,Rome,Venice,Malta and go to the bottom of Italy . There is a flight by Ryanair that goes from Villafranca Verona to Lamezia Terme which a really good place for seeing mountains and especially Napoli is the best for Volcanoes .
they used to be one of the best in the world, but times changed since the 2000's with the arise of cheap "bus with wings" kind of class. of course i am speaking about Ryanair, Easyjet.... their business model gave a chance to everybody to travel farther and destroyed many flagship companies in the process. I heard somewhere that their mechanics had the permission from Airbus to make repairs on their jets which made a big revenue to TAP i am sure, and respect. i honestly don't fly TAP anymore (switched to a bus with wings) because i am not rich, but i recommend everybody to fly with them
Depends josh …. Day would be morning or afternoon around Australia Europe is always evening most of the time to get to Europe in the morning My last international flight was morning to the west coast of the USA And got to LA like 6;30 am
This looked like a perfectly fine flight in every respect except for the demand by F/A's to lower window shades. Unless you are making a night landing into a war zone like Kabul there is no reason why F/A's should ask that window shades to be lowered especially on a day flight! If someone want's to sleep on the flight they can bring an eye-mask to block out the light. People request window seats because they like to look out the window! What is outside the window is usually more interesting than anything on the in-flight entertainment system. I've never flown on TAP but my brother flew TAP from Lisbon to Toronto and he raved about the inflight service and he is no stranger to international travel, he has flown on some of the best.
Josh I really enjoyed your African trip . I prefer overnight long haul flights. It would be good if you could do a trip report from Brazil 🇧🇷 I did some spotting in São Paulo 17 years ago , brilliant experience 😀👍
Josh, as a former Flight Attendant and an AVgeek like you, I really enjoy watching your vlogs! Your so full of enthusiasm (Especially when you're trying to speak with a British twang, it's so cute! hehehehe). If I was still crew now, I would upgrade you to Business or Premium! hehehehe As a passenger, a day flight would be perfect especially if you see the views. A few times I've flown on a long haul day flight, the blinds are always down. If I was travelling without a seat mate, it would be a bonus so I can enjoy the window seat. But I tend to sit in the aisle especially on long haul as I tend to use the toilet a lot. Keep those vlogs coming! 😊
What an exhausting l-o-n-g day, Josh! And a blue loo, too… yoo hoo!! It’s always a great feeling if you’re down the back & you have a row to yourself, I agree. Cheers from Australia
You should go to the Azores on Azores airlines during the spring/summer. Lovely islands & you can even take a small propeller plane to other islands too on Sata.
Hey Josh! Always a pleasure when I watch your videos always top notch! Would love to see south America tour video with maybe some videos on visits to certain areas of South America. Keep up the amazing work you do for us all to enjoy 😊!
In terms of flights, the cheapest is what I usually take Hahaha. I travel to Europe a lot so I enjoy overnight transatlantic flights as It gives me a chance to sleep; when I was living in the UK I used to do a lot of day flying as that was when most of the airlines operated. I am not usually picky, as long as I get there safely I am happy. Speaking of which, I have added TAP to my list of airlines I need to try; They operate out of YUL to LIS so I may give that a go in the not-so-distant future.
Time for a South America hop maybe trying out some smaller lesser known airlines? Also this video is why a lot of people like the 787 windows. You don’t have to choose between totally closed blinds or super bright light filling the cabin
Great review Josh - I was going to ask you what's the significance of the 77 on the dessert but I see that TAP is celebrating their 77th years of aviation service since the 15th of March 1945 - Close connection to MUC - Smart move for not checking that bag out of Maputo .. Enjoy the short stay in Munich as you move unto Sri Lanka - Be on the lookout for more of your reviews Josh
Josh, I would love for you to visit Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Bucharest, Kosovo, Moldova, and a whole lot more maybe Turkey as well.

@@gamerbhai3696 Don’t know what you are talking about…your comment doesn’t make sense. If you are referring to the emoji, this is a smiling emoji, not a laughing one…not sure how you can confuse that.
I love Lisbon!
@@stuartdryer1352 😁👍🏻
Trying to get a Portugal visa but it's tough to get one.
A pity....
This happens with most crew going to Brazil 🇧🇷 LATAM being the worst.
Last week this A330 neo (cs-tur) had a engine problem when it is going from lisbon to cancun. They made a emergency landing on lisbon
TAP being The 5th best in the world for safety (the safest in Europe) it should be recommended wether YOU like it or not.
I am really proud of TAP! Thank you Josh for your wonderful review.
Friendly crew, great wines even in economy class and even when things aren´t going according to plan, they try to solve or make it up. Have been using TAP for the last 20+ years...
That's what I enjoy about Yr vlogs josh alot of youtubers do business class u sit in the back row keeping it real
Cheers.
Happy Birthday Josh!!! 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊
I thoroughly enjoyed your African adventures. They were insightful aswell as shocking!! Your content is always high class and enjoyable.
@ユジン Yes, it was paradise on earth then....... and Lourenço Marques unforgettable, on equal with Nice or Cannes....
African series were excellent, especially Nigerian Air Peace review's.
I like your content Josh there are very pure.
Keep it up!
Love from Tanzania 🇹🇿
Before watching the video, boring/uneventful is always good in aviation!
Josh it’s a crew hack to have more rest, They ask people to shut windows, serve food and adjust the Ac to cold. Everyone sleeps.
the way he said "Obrigado" I can't- 01:59
you cant what? finish your sentence.
@@geographynateI can't deal with that cringe
@@rk6483 Good thanks for coming to my English lesson
You should fly Qantas,Air New Zealand and South African Airways and come back to Pakistan because a new airline is on the way.
What a wonderful, smooth journey this was.
Keep up the good work as always.
Hi Josh, have been watching several of your videos. It’s amazing! The efforts that you put in for the reviews, remarkable. Your videos aid in providing information on the airlines that one needs to prefer. I do prefer the day flights.
Obrigado. Safe travels. Have an amazing week. Cheers.
I Like TAP. From Lisbon to Cancun and back was great. Food is good and stuff is very friendly.
Awesome video! I've really enjoyed the Africa Adventure videos, well done!
Loved the Africa series Josh! Come to Australia and do that next please!!
Always great to see a new vid out Josh, I am guessing either noel Phillips and maybe trek trendy. Love your vids keep up the great work!!
I highly recommend visiting Italy 🇮🇹 , since I was born there of course I am going to say Italy is very beautiful 🤩. Please go to Italy especially Milan,Rome,Venice,Malta and go to the bottom of Italy . There is a flight by Ryanair that goes from Villafranca Verona to Lamezia Terme which a really good place for seeing mountains and especially Napoli is the best for Volcanoes .
they used to be one of the best in the world,
but times changed since the 2000's
with the arise of cheap "bus with wings" kind of class.
of course i am speaking about Ryanair, Easyjet....
their business model gave a chance to everybody to travel farther
and destroyed many flagship companies in the process.
I heard somewhere that their mechanics had the permission from Airbus to make repairs on their jets
which made a big revenue to TAP i am sure,
and respect.
i honestly don't fly TAP anymore (switched to a bus with wings) because i am not rich,
but i recommend everybody to fly with them
Depends josh …. Day would be morning or afternoon around Australia
Europe is always evening most of the time to get to Europe in the morning
My last international flight was morning to the west coast of the USA And got to LA like 6;30 am
Flew with TAP recently, for me its a very good airline!
I agree on the day flight window choice - they should make eye shades available if anyone does want to sleep, but allow people to enjoy the views.
Great to see Africa series josh thanks greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
Josh is a good boy , TAP is a good airline
Great series Josh! Always love flying to/from Africa!
Your comments are helpful when deciding what airline to take and what class to fly. Thanks.
I really enjoyed your African series. Well done Josh!
Josh you should come to the algarve- anywhere to faro is a great flight- perhaps try other budget airlines
Josh I really enjoyed your African trip . I prefer overnight long haul flights. It would be good if you could do a trip report from Brazil 🇧🇷 I did some spotting in São Paulo 17 years ago , brilliant experience 😀👍
normaly a more quiet viewer but that africa series was really fantastic, a lot of unique insights into carriers most of us will never fly :D
Josh, as a former Flight Attendant and an AVgeek like you, I really enjoy watching your vlogs! Your so full of enthusiasm (Especially when you're trying to speak with a British twang, it's so cute! hehehehe). If I was still crew now, I would upgrade you to Business or Premium! hehehehe
As a passenger, a day flight would be perfect especially if you see the views.
Another excellent review Josh! Cheers 🥂
Hey Josh! Always a pleasure when I watch your videos always top notch! Would love to see south America tour video with maybe some videos on visits to certain areas of South America. Keep up the amazing work you do for us all to enjoy 😊!
Hi Josh, loved the Africa series. It'd be great to see review of some central European carriers e.g. LOT, CSA, Tarom, Air Croatia, etc.
I would love to see you review smaller USA airlines and airports 😎
Thank you Josh, great entertaining report.
I would love to see you do a review on Australian airlines, both international and domestic
You mean qantas?
I am glad you suggested this and I hope Josh will consider it as I would like to have his honest opinion on flights in Australia.
@@LNYT-Aviation There are other airlines within Australia and many that fly to Australia but Qantas International would be an interesting review.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I love your videos.
I`m Portuguese and the customer service is terrible, just pray to not have any problem with them.
Loved the video Josh - Can't wait for your next avgeek adventure.
So happy that you are going to Sri Lanka can't wait for the video ✈️
Great review Josh - I was going to ask you what's the significance of the 77 on the dessert but I see that TAP is celebrating their 77th years of aviation service since the 15th of March 1945 - Close connection to MUC - Smart move for not checking that bag out of Maputo .. Enjoy the short stay in Munich as you move unto Sri Lanka - Be on the lookout for more of your reviews Josh
He looks like Jos Butler my favorite cricketer and the best batsman and Josh cahill providing amazing content just like Jos butler hitting sixes
Hi Josh,
Just wondering if you could do a long haul MIAT Mongolian flight?
Maybe Frankfurt to Ulaanbaatar?
