Hi Josh.... Want to fly a super rare bird? Let me know! Let's see if you or others can guess. High wing. 4 engine. Combi... And if you're going from Africa to Greenland, you're heading in the right direction!
Hi Josh. Sorry about your weird experience in Mozambique. I am Mozambican and once I had to "rescue" a friend who went through nonsense trouble on arrival in Maputo, allegedly because there was an error on reading his passport data. It turned out later that the computers at the immigration were not working properly. When I asked to see the screen I realized it was clear enough to the reader to tell my friend was the legitimate owner of the passport. By that time he had already spent 20 hours at the airport, with no access to food, no access to his checked luggage and no permission to enter the country. Fortunately I was able to provide what he needed to survive. All that probably only because he (and I) did not bring the officer any "chocolate". My friend now tells me he will never come to visit me in Mozambique again. So sad!
Muito triste o que se assiste no nosso aeroporto. Situações que envergonham a todos nós. Que este vídeo sirva de exemplo e chegue a quem de direito e se faça algo no sentido de mudar este comportamento.
They tried to do the same with me when leaving Maputo Airport. Security guard asked how much money I had and how much I could give him in order to return my passport, so I could board the airplane. After saying I had no money at all, he asked me if I could pay him a coffee, which I declined as well. Shocking!!!
I had a similar experience with immigration in Maputo, they were so frustratingly slow and they didn't seem to know what to do. I was extremely tired at the end
Hi, Josh. I’m sorry about your experience in Mozambique. I’m a Mozambican and had some friends coming from Tanzania with the same unpleasant experiences. Hope you enjoyed the country though. 🇲🇿
the Mozambican Immigration officers are notorious for this sort of blatant asking for bribes, I am Kenyan and the stories I've herd of people getting flown back is just a sad tale, FYI, we are not any better dealing with the same scourge of corruption either, Africa countries really need to work on this, to allow seamless transition of legally travelling passengers with little to no fuss, allows for a very great experience for everyone from arrival to departure, always good to catch a Josh Cahill video, such great content, love it.
Hi Josh, as Mozambican I would like to apologize for what you went through at the airport. I wish I could give you a ride through Maputo, it’s very beautiful and interesting. You had a bad experience and unfortunately bribery is institutionalized and it’s being difficult to find honest. @@robertdaniel5461 It can be considered acceptable in diplomatic terms that a foreign GOVERNMENT can take your passport in the case of a bona fide criminal case to prevent a foreigner from fleeing. But the passport is the property of the US government and a private airline company has no standing to take it from you. Before you surrender it, a quick call to the US Embassy is in order. The US embassy should be able to advise you. They could suggest that you surrender but send them a picture of it so they could reissue a temporary passport if you were left stranded for some reason. Or they might advise not to surrender and attempt to intervene with the airline and that country's government (not so likely). In any case, I would at least try to contact them locally by cell phone while at the airport and ask for advice before giving it up, IF you are not in legal trouble. After all, it is US property that the airline is trying to take from you and they may have standard policies and certainly can assist you with a replacement as long as they are aware of the abuse of that govt's diplomatic imperative to allow you freedom of travel across their border. It doesn't seem like a hard thing to do and one should always have embassy/consulate contact information when traveling to different countries.

Hi @Josh Cahill , I believe that it could be better to clarify that was not the airline taking your Passport but the immigration , because from one side you have the airline and from the other side you have the immigration.
Dear Josh, being an American in Africa does not automatically give you a visa to enter and leave the countries. The problem at Pemba and Maputo airports was because as you are an American citizen, you MUST have a VISA to enter African countries with Portuguese as an official language. Because a Portuguese DOES NOT need an entry visa to go to both Mozambique and Angola. The Portuguese passport "opens" more doors than the American one; because as there are countries in Africa that were Portuguese colonies, access to these countries is easier for us than for gringos. Even European Union citizens have some difficulty entering the African continent. I have a friend who is Angolan and Portuguese at the same time who can travel in several countries, including several countries in the New World, and in Asia. As for your review about LAM, I have to say that you forgot that it is an African airline, not a US one. Therefore, attention and care must be taken that treatment is different not only in Africa, but on all continents. In Africa you must have (water tank, a driver, a tank for feces). Don't forget you are in Africa. Ah, never travel with a pet from Africa to Portugal...
No josh your wrong about that thay still use 737-200 combi in Canada especially when you go to northern Canada especially when you go to the arctic north
I think you will not forget this africian trip .Many experiences, drama ,happy flights and also many fearful flights... I really enjoyed watching every video you posted trying different African airlines such as Air peace ,Ibom air,Air cote d ivore,Air senegal sorry if i missed anything . So happy to virtually travel with you on the above mentioned African airlines .. I also recommend to fly Air Mauritius because recently i had experienced traveling with them in Business class on their A 350 ...Expecting more interesting videos from you .By the way i am from India andyou are my best airline reviewer.. If there is a Oscar award for best airline reviewer you will be the winner
@Josh, This was such a bad experience, however, I heard you say that you are returning home, and I thought the African tour was still on with Uganda Airlines. It will be an honor to host you in Uganda.
Josh, not that rare come to Canada there are at least four or more airlines flying the classic Boeing 200 in various roles Most are Combi and a few have gravel kits as they land on gravel strips to remote mining sites
Wow, you just took me back in time! I lived in Hawaii for many years and flew with Aloha Airlines regularly. Glad to see the planes are still going strong!
Very sorry for this experience, its high time the authorities need to do something, i have heard drivers complaining that its tough to pass in there either going to Malawi, Zimbabwe or SA by road.
Josh here is list of Canadian airlines that operate Boeing 737-200, Air Inuit 737-200C, Nolinor Aviation 737-200C ,Chorno Aviation 737-200C and Canadian North 737-200C

Heyy Josh, I am Levin a Sri Lankan who is a great fan of yours. Love all the videos you do man, continue the great work we will be there to support you. anyways stay safe and May God Bless you. Cheers Mate
It is a legacy system for tourists only. It used to be if you flew into the country you had to fly out. When you fly out they need to find the original entry document and match it to ensure you are legitimate. Once you leave this used to be the only record you entered and left. In todays age the computers have these records.
In 1975, I flew to the Ivory Coast from New York. I had a visa. Upon arrival, they took my passport and kept it until I left. I was very nervous being in a foreign country and not have my passport. When I left, there was a desk drawer filled with US passports. Seemed like the only passports they took were from the US. I empathize with you.
@@GMaviation , I have no idea if they did anything, and it was so long ago, but I did not understand why they took my passport or American passports, for that matter
I love your reviews more than any other creator.... You review flights and planes that the vast majority of travellers would fly, not just first class like so many do. Thankyou for your reviews, and blessings on your future travels... 🙏✈️💕
Heres a tip; you can actually get a second passport at the same time but that one only last 2 years, you can use this as an emergency to get out of situation where your passport becomes hostage!
Joshie, praying for your safe flight as always. A Nepali aircraft just crashed recently and I can't stop worrying.... Please do take care. PH loves you.
I flew that Air Zimbabwe 737-200 JNB-VFA. She's a beauty, Look for the hand written overwing exit markings, Fabulous aircraft. Lucky you got your passport back.
When i went to Sri Lanka, they tried to get a bribe off me, 3 custom officials - Not sure if they understood - Get Stuffed. We did seem to stand looking at each other for a very long time, until they see an armed solider walking towards us, when two of them disappeared and the other waved me on. I have to say it was the worst country i have ever been to. You can understand in these poorer countries people trying to scam you, but it was even full on at the hotel (5 Star), had staff knocking on the room door continuously, wanting to do something in the room, then pretend they are doing something for me and then hanging around for a tip. Order food the same thing, 3 to 4 would turn up after the meal wanting a tip, and trying to get more money for the food. Booking day trips the same thing, changing the prices all the time and if you asked for directions to somewhere same again, and even when i asked for names for some restaurants, Oh no if you eat outside the hotel you will get food poisoning. Lucking for me i was only staying for a week and then off to the Maldives.
I got excited once you mentioned Aloha Air, as I remember the 737's (and their 200's) fondly as a kid! Felt like a mini-reunion with an old friend! But I don't know what you're going off about with "not so fond memories" (save for that one incident that landed safely!) Miss those jets. It's *definitely* not the same seeing Southwest 737's fly our interisland routes now.
When you are in Cape Town again make sure you visit the Air force museum at Ysterplaat. Ask them to take you to the hanger where they restore aircraft not on display.
Having been to Maputo 2 times from the UK I have never had any problems as I always get a visa before I travel and have always found the staff there polite and welcoming, at Maputo airport they have a lovely cafe upstairs where you can sit and have a coffee and something to eat while you watch the planes arrive and depart, instead of waiting for your driver if you had looked there was some taxi's in the back ground that are yellow and green in color, I also have a friend who is a pilot at LAM and know someone who works for LAM, don't let this video put you off from visiting Mozambique it is a beautiful country and the people are so friendly
As an Upcoming RUclipsr in Nigeria showing the cities in my videos, we appreciate you for inspiring us to achieve this goal... Hopefully one day we will get to the top 🙏🙏

Hi Josh, always interesting to watch your videos with really exotic airlines. 25 years ago (I know it's very long time ago) I flew Air Zimbabwe's B 762 from FRA to Harare, and also the B 732. Additionally, I made two short flights with BAE 146. Unbelivable, that their Boeings are still in service today. Therefore, attention and care must be taken that treatment is different not only in Africa, but on all continents. In Africa you must have (water tank, a driver, a tank for feces). Don't forget you are in Africa. Ah, never travel with a pet from Africa to Portugal...
Well I’m glad I’m not American then 😂

Hi Josh
I’m Mozambican and I live in Maputo
So sorry for your bad experience 💔
You are so so brave... Currently awaiting my first ever solo trip to Paris.. just love your enthusiasm & confidence
All I can say is I have being fortunate to fly on a 737-200 back in my youth days, such a great plane.
No josh your wrong about that thay still use 737-200 combi in Canada especially when you go to northern Canada especially when you go to the arctic north
That’s why he said “one of the last”
I think you will not forget this africian trip .Many experiences, drama ,happy flights and also many fearful flights...
737-200's are still flying in Quebec because they can land on gravel runways up North. Nolinor has the largest fleet and Chrono aviation has one also.
@Josh, This was such a bad experience, however, I heard you say that you are returning home, and I thought the African tour was still on with Uganda Airlines. It will be an honor to host you in Uganda.
Josh, not that rare come to Canada there are at least four or more airlines flying the classic Boeing 200 in various roles
Most are Combi and a few have gravel kits as they land on gravel strips to remote mining sites
That's what I taught as well, I think it's Air North and Nolinor at least.
Bro iam from Mozambique, I apologize immensely about what happened to the authorities, they are very bureaucratic
.
Taking the same trip next week. This was incredibly helpful.
In case you need, I'm here to show you the cityyyy
welcome to Mozambique, I'm sorry for the unexpected experience you had. but I hope you enjoy the wonders my country has to offer.
Yes A 737-200 Review Will Be Good
Yes please come to Zimbabwe, we'd love to have you over 🇿🇼🤗🇿🇼🤗
Nice video my friend ✈️😍
Wow, you just took me back in time! I lived in Hawaii for many years and flew with Aloha Airlines regularly. Glad to see the planes are still going strong!
Wow Greenland, had been waiting for it, please give country travel videos including cuisine and places to visit
Very sorry for this experience, its high time the authorities need to do something, i have heard drivers complaining that its tough to pass in there either going to Malawi, Zimbabwe or SA by road.
Great video! I look forward to you trying Air Algerie :)
I'd love to see you fly the Air Zim 732. If they still fly the MA60 on domestic routes that would be cool to see too.
Josh here is list of Canadian airlines that operate Boeing 737-200, Air Inuit 737-200C, Nolinor Aviation 737-200C ,Chorno
Aviation 737-200C and Canadian North 737-200C
I'm From Mozambique and am so sorry, hope you come again to visit us and know more about us, we are good people with a beautiful culture, and very hospitality, but some people are like that....., so sorry
I noticed you made use of your free Emirates pen you got on your first class trip filling out your departure paperwork in Tanzania.
Really sorry for the experience at maputo airport, unfortunately its a sad reality that makes lot of ppl not coming back. Its rare to see youtubers coming to Mozambique.
Oh that will be nice. I’m from Zim🇿🇼 hope you’ll enjoy our beautiful country
Thank you Josh, such a crazy day for you. I am heartbroken, no loo review 😢
Chocolate .... bless them ! And arrest them lol. Looking forward to seeing your TAP review , am considering them for my Brazil adventure Porto Alegre-Igacu Waterfalls-Florianapolis-Rio. And possibly in their business class.
Just remember that Azul is the best way to travel inside Brazil! Any others and you are asking to regret it..
Mate, no one is getting arrested...that's Africa...that's why they are still in the mess they live in and keep blaming whites for their wrong doing...#TIA
Heyy Josh,
I am Levin a Sri Lankan who is a great fan of yours. Love all the videos you do man, continue the great work we will be there to support you. anyways stay safe and May God Bless you. Cheers Mate
What a totally nightmare experience. If I ever thought about traveling to Mozambique, those thoughts are dead now
A shame about how things went in Mozambique... One thing I was curious about: what purpose does the exit document serve? Entry I can get, but exit?
It is a legacy system for tourists only. It used to be if you flew into the country you had to fly out. When you fly out they need to find the original entry document and match it to ensure you are legitimate. Once you leave this used to be the only record you entered and left. In todays age the computers have these records.
@@devangdave545 ah, a bit surprised they haven't gotten rid of it then. Thank you for the reply.
I started watching your channel 2 weeks ago and I am from Maputo this is a video I didnt expect ...real feedback
Can they possibly make copies of the passports and use them for criminal activities?
@@GMaviation , I have no idea if they did anything, and it was so long ago, but I did not understand why they took my passport or American passports, for that matter
Air Zimbabwe 🇿🇼737-200 yes review it. ❤️
I’ve flown that air zim 737 when u was younger, amazed they are still flying
Also flew Beira to Harare on Mocambique Airlines in 1974!! Boeing 737-200 too
Joshie, praying for your safe flight as always.
Wow thank you for the warning. I'll avoid Sri-Lanka like the plague
Airport, airline, service, foodie, Country Review Channel….all in One!,, brilliant Subscribed.
Welcome to Mozambique Josh, unfortunately that`s how things are going here. Nice tour
I got excited once you mentioned Aloha Air, as I remember the 737's (and their 200's) fondly as a kid! Felt like a mini-reunion with an old friend! But I don't know what you're going off about with "not so fond memories" (save for that one incident that landed safely!)
Miss those jets.
L
As an Upcoming RUclipsr in Nigeria showing the cities in my videos, we appreciate you for inspiring us to achieve this goal... Hopefully one day we will get to the top 🙏🙏
shocking to see the "bribe desk" experience.. chocolate chocolate 🤨🤨... that's too sweet of them..
wonder when Delta Airlines B767-400 ER scheduled to be retired & replaced by A350-1000 . . . the B767-400 ER is rare wide body jet, merely 56 of the B767-400 ER were built unlike the B767-300 ER . . . all 53 brand new B767-400 ER was operated only by Continental & Delta since 2002 . . . it is said that one of the 53 brand new B767-400 ER was configured . . .
WELCOME TO MAPUTO - MY BELOVED CITY.
I flew on the Air France 737-200 many many times.as a kid between cayenne,French Guyana and point a pitte ,Guadeloupe with stops in Paramaribo, Georgetown port of Spain and fort de France. We called the “laitier “ = the milk route. It’s small and the engines make a high pitch sound.
Thank you for reviewing our airline. Personally I’m very disappointed with LAM lately and I try not to fly with them. Even if the flight is long they only serve sandwich you must eat before board to a LAM flight.
Zubaida was not LAM that took his Passport. Was Immigration.
I'm sorry you had to deal with that, corruption still is a huge issue here. I'm a big fan of your channel, its unfortunate you had a bad experience here
nothing says welcome to tourist to a country when they park the plane right next to military cargo plane
It was nice meeting you with my 2 kids at Colombo airport (next to Lounge). I hope your flight to KL was good. Looking forward to your new videos.
Pleasure was all mine and thanks for saying hello :)
Sorry for your flight troubles with Mozambican airline I'm Mozambican living in Europe for 22 years and I went to Mozambique after many years my experience wasn't the problems with Immigration but l was robbed they took my wedding ring and mobile phone by armed robbery I pray that Mozambique Government look into all this problems and make us to be welcome home and to the country
I love the fact you video isn't just 20 minutes but 20 minutes of pure entertainment keep it up
Africa trip please do it again in the future
Hi Josh, always interesting to watch your videos with really exotic airlines. 25 years ago (I know it's very long time ago) I flew Air Zimbabwe's B 762 from FRA to Harare, and also the B 732. Additionally, I made two short flights with BAE 146. Unbelivable, that their Boeings are still in service today. At that time also two ex LH 707 could be seen in Harare, but I think they were not in service anymore at that time. Looking forward to your future projects.
Mate, Oman Air owes me $1000 too! I don't think we're ever getting it back. Also, had a similar experience arriving in Pemba, although that flight was on an ATR-72
If you paid by credit card do a charge back.
Corruption is an ongoing issue in most parts of Africa. It’s scary to think that it is a norm.
Fond memories of the 737-200, flew on it many times as a kid in Zambia when Zambia Airways had those and they even had a 707 which I was lucky enough to fly to Kenya, crossing over Tanzania and Mount Kilimanjaro.
Go for the -200 as long as she ist still flying. Just make sure to take a seat right behind the wing, reverse thrust just looks amazing!
Hello my friend, welcome to Mozambique. Im from Mozambique Africa
