You want to experience really bad delays ask many who have flown to Hawaii via LAX. 8 - 9 hours and you know every person working there by the time you depart. You go into debt just to stay fed too.
honestly, i never had any delays flying to Hawaii via LAX. And I only connect from longhaul or Transcon flights from MIA or JFK. almost always 20 minutes or so early. But I don´t have much to compare with, because I only ever flew AA, so no idea how the other airlines are doing.
I am a native of Nepal and an avid traveler. I have made a few observations over the course of years about international flying: 1. On the last leg of your journey, you will notice that the plane is full of the natives of the country you are going to, and those natives are usually noisy, overexcited, or simply feel over-entitled and behave accordingly. 2. The airlines usually staff the crew with people from those countries for the sake of convenience in communication and those crewmembers deal with their natives in a no-nonsense manner. I have heard Indian crewmembers aboard United flights to New Delhi even yell at unruly Indian passengers. 3. The native crewmembers tend to treat foreigners, especially from western countries, with more courtesy than their native passengers. 4. If the air route goes from a rich country to a poor country, the planes are usually watered down in amenities and services. On the planes that served CAN to KTM, China Southern used to have headphones that looked and felt like stethoscopes, probably to avoid passengers taking them home with them. 5. Deportees do not get to drink alcohol on their flight home. Exceptions may apply.
What you are calling stethoscopes were actually widely used in past. Even on Indian airlines. In those days afaik there was only radio to listen to no tv. it must be 20+ years back. Then even when budget airlines started in India they also had these type of cheap earphones then they gave cheap chinese budget clip on ear headphones. Yes they were such so that it doesn't caused losses to airlines as price was included.
Josh you are arguably the best airlines reviewer I know. Your reviews are indeed comprehensive and fruitfull. Glad to know being a Nepalese that you appreciate the service rendered by Nepal Airlines. Great to have you in Nepal.
I had the same experience on a flight from Johannesburg to London. The lady sitting next to me took her shoes off shortly after we boarded the flight 🤢 It was horrible!
When I was young in 1991, my family and I flew Nepal Airlines (then Royal Nepal) from Singapore to Bangkok. The flight was delayed 2 hours, then 4, then 6, then 8....finally after 12 hours we boarded. Worst flight experience of my life. Nice to know they are still holding themselves to the same high standards
So 2 days ago we were supposed to go to FL but it was REALLY delayed (we were supposed to fly united) first it was 7:00 then 8:30 then 9:00 then 11:00 then 1:00 then 2:00 and then the flight got canceled 😭😭😭 I was pissed

The landing lights are usually off after landing and taxi lights are used instead. Commercial transport with passangers are obliged to use landing lights. Landing lights typically are installed behind a fresnel lense shaped glass in order to straighten the beam. This makes it hard sometimes to see the wing root landing lights reflecting on the engine hull. The more recent LED lights even have a more focussed beam.
Nepal airlines is struggling to make its place at international level and also it is the pride of nepal ..so ur support means a lot to the people of nepal.. thank u sir
It’s good to see they are still using porcelain plates for the meal. It brings back the good old days of traveling in class even on economy. The plastic utensils on airline these days sucks!
I flew to Kathmandu in July 2019 and I applied for a Visa from the Nepal Embassy which was granted the following day and I had no issue having to go through the process of having to apply for a visa on arrival and went through immigration and customs quite smoothly.
He turned it off because fun fact when they turn off the light they actually get better visibility while they getting closer and closer to the runway. :) :)
In kathmando aéroport only VOR approach or RNP approach are used for runway 02 at night which required visibiliy of 3000 m or 1600 m. In foggy conditions only low visibility procédures ILS CAT 2 OR 3 must be used and kathmando is not equipped with , so in foggy conditions the aéroport is closed... The landing light may be inoperative and ithe aircraft is dispatched under MEL as for airbus A330 one maybe inop at night for 10 days.
I flew in this plane to Brisbane from Kathmandu in April 2020. The first ever Nepal Airlines flight to Australia. A repatriation charter flight. The crew stayed on board to avoid the 2 weeks Quarantine. You need to sit on the port side of the plane from Delhi to see the Himalayan Range.
Yeah they did 4 chartered flights. One of them to melbourne is direct flight from kathmandu…Which is positive sign for nepal airlines…Being nepali it makes us happy hope they will be more better in upcoming days
This is business class 😂😂 just because you have money to pay for business class doesn't mean you have manners or know how to behave properly in a plane. Money can't guarantee peace or comfort all the time
It’s amazing what rudeness is out there. Thank you for the interesting look into the airplane. Very fascinating. Anyway, this reminds me of a situation I encountered on a Lufthansa flight in Frankfurt to Boston, on my way hone from Florence Italy. The flight was wonderful but because of weather my first flight got delayed. But then they called all connecting flights so they would wait for the passengers to arrive before taking off. How awesome is that? Then I get to Frankfurt and my terminal and come to find out, there was a delay because there was a fuel pump issue with the plane I was going to get on. Big delay about five hours or so. Lots of people were getting pissy about it but I said that we were better off on the ground than in a plane with mechanical issues, flying over the Atlantic . A small group agreed with me and we were grateful to be safe on the ground. Then I did a bit of window shopping at the shops and got my mom some fine chocolates while I was there. Oh well, it was fun all the same. That’s what really counts.
@@iainmymaciverhv1818 I know, right? I guess in my instance I was the weird one who looked at the situation differently. At the time I was happy to be on the ground when that mechanical issue was discovered on the plane I was going to be on. It was well worth the wait for a problem free jet.
@@lcfflc3887 I suppose you’re right. I’ve got a family member who has the same mentality as this guy but she’s not a bad person, just not a good personality. Some good people are like that. They don’t mean to come across that way but they do. Fortunately for me, I’m easy going when it comes to situations that I can’t control. My experience was one of those things but I made a fun time of it, poking in all the gift shops and duty free shops around my terminal. Even got myself a snack to tide me over until I got home. That particular day, it was bad weather that held back my first flight out of Florence and to my surprise, Lufthansa had already contacted my connecting flight to notify them of the delay, so they were waiting for us without having to do anything. How good is that? Then when I got there my flight was delayed a couple of hours due to the fact that the jet I was supposed to be on had that defect in the fuel pump. Definitely no rush to get there and people were complaining but I defused that by mentioning that we were actually much safer where we were than if something were to go wrong mid flight. From Frankfurt to Boston it’s nothing but open ocean so you can imagine what would’ve happened if we took the defective jet. A whole group of people smiled my way and said I was absolutely right . We were safer where we were.
Oh my god, what a difference. I went to New Delhi a couple of times years ago and I can tell you, that airport now looks nothing like it did when I went there. I am impressed.
Delays are normal in aviation industry, they keep us alive. Aviation industry is highly competitive and clients demand lower prices wille keeping highest safety standard, delays will occur with planes flying non stop. Weather or calamities (like volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, etc.) related delays are unavoidable. You will see private jets having much less traffic, technical and crew related delays but they tend to be quite spendy. If you are provided with a decent place to wait and noone is taking advantage of your situation by overcharging you for food or water there is no reason to have a meltdown. No-one has anything to gain by delaying your plane, many times crews are paid for flight hours.
We all Nepali are so sorry that you had to expreinece such trauma due to a fellow guy. We hope the future journey ni your life would go smoothly and Hope you had a great experience in 2019 ❤️

This is what I like about Josh's reviews. He gives a very "authentic" "hands on deck" kinda reviews, which us, the travelers would actually experience. I am a new subscriber to his channel and his authentic reviews is what drove me here. Josh gives us our own perspective of experiencing delays, long layovers, asshole passengers etc...which even we have experienced ourselves. Before Josh, I used to watch a lot of reviews by Sam Chui. Till date, I have NEVER seen Sam experiencing a delay, an asshole passenger sitting next to him, a long layover etc. His reviews, although good, looks quite "staged". Like if the airlines are expecting him to be on board...so they make sure to fly out on time, give him the best "asshole free" seat etc etc. In all aspect, I found Josh a hundred times better than Sam, as his reviews are authentic and he shows exactly what we experience while traveling. Awesome work Josh and Godspeed to you for the future! Glad you keep coming to my home country (India). Next please try and fly the Dornier Do.228 of Sita Airlines to Lukla Airport, Nepal. Hey josh thanks for reviewing our airlines. I just want to make you sure that not all passengers are like this one. As a fellow countrymen sorry on his behalf and visit us again.
I had funny experience flying from Bangkok to Kathmandu in 1979. Ahead of me when leaving Bangkok and going through customs were three young Nepali men who opened their briefcases for inspection filled with what looked like makeup and perfume samples. The young lady at the airport just glanced at the contents and let them through. It appeared strange to me. Upon arrival in Kathmandu before going through customs I had to use the washroom. Inside there were those same three men handing off packages to the custodian who took the neatly wraped bundles and left the area. Northern Thailand was the worlds centre for heroin back then in an area known as the Golden Triangle. I used to witness so many people smuggling in those days it amazed me how gutsy they were.
Glad u loved ur experience with our national carrier .it comes as a relief when even nepali passengers speak so much Ill about Nepal airlines . The airlines started at the same time as thai air and in its hay day flew to Austria ,Gatwick -London ,Munich and Amsterdam . Years of corruption and neglect has crippled the airlines and we are only glad it hasn’t crumbled yet . Ofcourse all the foreign airlines flying to Nepal and conspiring to bring down Nepal airlines so as to reign supreme in Nepal aviation market did have its toll on Nepal airlines . Btw the passenger next to u is def a Nepali and such a shame how he behaved . A hillbilly ofcourse and looks like some army /police official . staining the image of Nepalese but I suppose he was also trying to be friendly with u . Anyways thanks for the review .i hope that other league of ur journey with Nepal airlines was equally pleasant unless u had another annoying neighbour

Shall I say I am sorry or what but that person is literally our professor.😂😂😂😂 He is annoying in our college as well. I agree with other reviewers that I watched your channel exclusively as I know that I will hear honest feedback. This is crucial for travellers like me. I am still undecided on whether to take SA or QR to WYDHA yet as both your reviews were great. I will love to hear your review of SW .OMG I can relate to the smelly feet as I have encountered the same on SQ. Well I am not as kind as you as I will tell rude passengers to be more polite (oh yes I am a feisty latina). Some passengers feel that just because they pay for business class they can treat the flight attendant like slaves. I had a fruit platter on one of my NRT trip and the passenger kept to me kept pressing the attendant call and ask to be served a fruit platter in addition to his regular meal. Finally I said to him “Stop watching my meal” and requested ot change my seat lol. I am not sure where you get your music but its so apt.

Very honest and non biased reporting. Thank you!❤🇳🇵
I am a native of Nepal and an avid traveler. I have made a few observations over the course of years about international flying:
As a Nepali, I actually agree
What you are calling stethoscopes were actually widely used in past. Even on Indian airlines. In those days afaik there was only radio to listen to no tv. it must be 20+ years back. Then even when budget airlines started in India they also had these type of cheap earphones then they gave cheap chinese budget clip on ear headphones. Yes they were such so that it doesn't caused losses to airlines as price was included.
The red horns emoji you planted on your next seat passenger's head was hilarious
Josh you are arguably the best airlines reviewer I know. Your reviews are indeed comprehensive and fruitfull. Glad to know being a Nepalese that you appreciate the service rendered by Nepal Airlines. Great to have you in Nepal.

I had experienced the case of smelly feet on Turkish on my way to Bombay from MAN Via Istanbul in 2016!

Sometimes landing lights are switched off in foggy conditions..
Sorry about my uncle bro. Thanks for the positives despite all that! You are a very genuine reviewer!!!
Passengers like that makes me wanna fly Business Class. I feel so scrunched in Economy. I would rather pay more for Business Class comfort.
@@anonymous11011 or back to economy lmao
that's not an economy class.
Me too!
This is business class 😂😂 just because you have money to pay for business class doesn't mean you have manners or know how to behave properly in a plane. Money can't guarantee peace or comfort all the time
good vedo
the fact that "that passenger" is my GP teacher scares me
I was stuck inside a BA 747 for 4.5 hours in Heathrow. We had our return flights upgraded on the return.
Ppl
Josh Cahill!!! “I happen to have a very annoying passenger next to me”. Mate he’s right next to you!!

I bet the guy was thinking the same thing about the RUclipsr.
Josh I would have a meltdown with the delay and that guy, I admire your calm demeanor. 👍

Trust me...if you don't shit your pants on the approach...I shall change my name LOL. Just kidding! Cheers mate. Best Regards from India :)
