Was bothered by it at first, but at least now it's kinda clarified that they will complete the map. Hoping it will happen within at least a year from EA launch but knowing DCS i'm not sure if that will happen or not. I'm more excited for Iraq than this though

I'm so confused how they revealed Bagram in promo videos but the Afghanistan map area they're showing us is the western half WITHOUT Bagram?
Maybe there is more work to be done than we can imagine. Or something to do with Performance? I really wonder that myself too :)

Afghanistan has a bunch of mountains etc too. Having spent nearly 4000 hrs in msfs i can tell u a lot of earth is actually desert irl. Kolas not desert though. SA isnt desert either and thats probably least supported by the community.
I'd like a Balkans map that includes Italy.
But that's just me it seems.
I think the problem is not that releasing half the map first. I think it is because it is the side with fewer historical battles and conflicts.

Pretty sure I\m gonna sit this one out until it's atleast 99% complete. and to add one note. I have 90% of all the modules and Maps in DCS by now. but I'm never going to pay for a Map OR module if I have to pay more for other or extra features later. so that shouldn't be a question at all if you ask me. upgrades should be free, I'd Maybe pay an extra 5$ in total for a MUCH improved Combined Arms. like if they add another 90% worth of gear to use. and improved the overall unit list in the game with it. And/Or if they ED desided to add slightly more fidelity to the Fc3 pack. as in some things being clickable basically.
Youre gonna have to wait till at least 2027.. look at south atlantic, look at sinai.. nothing is happening.
Instead of fixing and finishing what’s actually in game, let’s release a lot of half finished, half assed modules and maps to keep our minds of such issues.
While I understand it's early access but the fact they announced with with Bagrams long lat is what got everyone hyped to operate out of Bagram. With an already angry crowd over the F4s extreme delay it didn't help morale.

ED should tweak the color pallet to make the game more realistic.
Giving E.D. money for a product with no set release date is not the way. That boat sailed after the bait and switch tactics they've exhibited over the last year. The Normandy release & then the Strike Eagle nonsense have made that clear. Maybe focus on getting the sim back to running smoothly for the community first & foremost O7
Not to mention ED leaving things broken when a simple fix is available. You have people buying P-47 right now and the landing gear buckles under any landing or repair. The fix is changing a single number in the Flight Model Options. ED not doing it do to a maybe in the works bigger fix "in the future". That problem is a year old now.

You say about not charging for the rest of Afghanistan map and compare it to Syria and South Atlantic but the closest comparison is Normandy 2.0...
Valid point just that we got the official answer for it. But I get it :) Will continue to ask for it with ED.
Normandy still runs like trash and it's seen no improvements all this time, I'd have refunded it the same day I bought it if ED would've allowed it. Worst purchase I've made concerning anything from Eagle.
Not really because Normandy 2.0 was an entirely different map that happened to also cover existing content, not built upon/extending the existing map like Afghanistan will be.

Normandy was available to trial and it ran superbly no stuttering issues. It was also a map without high resolution assets & no clarification that the purchased map would be much different(performance & assets). After purchasing you got the high res asset map which runs horribly. Henceforth BAIT & SWITCH O7 @@deadpxl

When asking or thinking about whether or not the Halfganistan expansions will cost ... with most maps like Syria it was a no ... but we also have Normandy 2 and that did come with an upgrade cost.
No offense but I would also like to point out that ED personnel have been wrong or at least confused with expansions in the past. Going back to the Normandy 2 Map ED promised a discount to owners of the original Normandy or the Channel Map and an even larger discount for owners of both maps. Several people from ED where confused about the discount for owners of both legacy maps specially BigNewy and whoever runs the Facebook profile for ED.
Some stated they would get a basic discount like any owner of a single map and some stated that owners of both maps would get a bigger discount as ED had advertised. Thankfully it was the former that was right and those of use that had both maps got the larger discount for Normandy 2.

@@hipgames I think you are missing the point and why it had to be addressed in the first place. The Normandy map upgrade was at a cost. The Syria map wasn’t. It wasn’t clear cut which way it would be before a comment came from Nineline. If it was there wouldn’t have been a need to clarify on it.
You could have mentioned that with the Normandy map and Syria map having different upgrade histories it gave some question as to how an Afghanistan upgrade would work. I think that @evansnyder430 made a comment to reflect that it wasn’t as obvious which way it would be. In the video there was no mention of that it could have gone either way. Your criticism of his comment seems miss understood and maybe is a bit harsh.
There is no what was mention first in the video or after. You either understand or refuse too, wich obviously is your choice. Truth be said, and don't get me wrong I dont want to be harsh, everyone can think and put their opinion here, as it should be, but the Normandy update has a different situation. Call me bad in content creation and go watch others, heaven knows, there are a lot.

@@Dracomarine The redfor should atleast get BM,SM or SMT variant of 29. I know this is imposible now. But this wont change anything in game right now. The 23 or SU-22 would be much better choices.
Definitely need the mig 23, but if they've got the data full clickable mig 29 is certainly more needed than trainers. A full fidelity clickable su-25 would also be nice. If the GCI is available to all, that would itself be worth it.
I’m holding off until Halfghanistan is whole. The early access of the South Atlantic map was a disappointment for me and I’m not looking to go through the early access development phase again. The group I fly with all bought in hard on South Atlantic and we rarely play it even to this day.
I’ll wait and let early adopters figure it out and let me know their opinions on just how good it is. As the saying goes…Fool me once shame on them. Fool me twice shame on me.
I’ll wait this one out for sure as there is too much going on with this map and chances for disappointment in early access seems high to me.
