    Thank you for posting this video. When i first picked up golf (44years ago) i pretty much hit the ball farther than mostly everyone. I also used to scratch my right forearm with my watch band on my left wrist. Proof that the forearms were touching after release. Thanks to your video i went back to that release, which i thought was flawed. Picked up a club worth of distance through the bag, can go at the ball as hard as i want without hooking , and feels great. I do have to play without a watch though!

    I play with a veteran golfer who has been low hcap all his life. He releases into this pattern and his pitching looks super flippy.. BUT… ball comes off the club strong and spinney, his ball control even at 85 is astounding.

    Hello! Greetings from Germany
    I just wanted to take minute and thank you for your exceptional way of teaching.
    You are exactly what the dedicated golfer needs. Exactly what I was searching for.
    I love that you are the complete opposite to these Do-this-do-that-quick-Fix-clickbait „pros“.
    Understanding the Basic principals of the golf swing is the key to the consistency we all are searching for. Looking at all the pros and thinking „Every pro, on the first glance, has a completely different swing than every other pro, but what do they have in common? What do they share?
    And then compressing this Information and presenting it to us in such a natural and understandable way… awesome Job!! Keep it up forever please!
    Greetings
    Tom

When attempting to finish with the right wrist bowed and the palm facing me (like looking at my phone), as you suggested, I found that I got a bit “handsy” and my contact wasn’t solid. What is the right wrist position at contact when looking for this finish? Thanks for all of your incisive videos.

    Great content Craig I’m learning a lot from you. Could you explain what the wrist are doing. Are you actively releasing by applying a flipping move just before impact or is it all passive - by that I mean that it is just the weight of the club in motion ( and good lag) that causes the release. You have a fantastic zip of the club through the ball and looks effortless.

    To maintain that same shaft angle the head needs to drop quite a bit as is seen in Hovland's swing. I used to think that's the way to swing the club but as I found out that wasn't good for my 50+ yr old back. I would wake up with lower back pain the next day after a round. I've since gone to more upright shaft release and it's helped my back. I can play consecutive days now where I couldn't before. Is it due to the changes? No idea but I'm playing more golf now which is a good thing.

  • @mikerodrick2430
    @mikerodrick2430 Год назад

    I've seen previous videos showing this release using Couples & Singh where it looks like they're barely holding on to the club with their right hand but not with the bend of the left arm. Isn't this a bit of a minor chicken wing? I believe Spieth has his left arm in this position as well but to keep the face square at impact. Is it not true that the arms shouldn't be perfectly straight until after impact? As you stated, this swing looks like back problems in the future but he's only in his 20s now so it's not a problem. There's another young player whose side bend is more extreme than this, so much so that his right side is nearly perpendicular to the ground. I can't imagine what it's doing to his spine.

    • @CraigHansonGolf
      @CraigHansonGolf  Год назад

      it’s actually the opposite of a chicken wing. Spieth almost has the opposite release of hanging onto for so long.
      People that don’t release the club head get the chicken wing look

      First off it’s a swing analysis. Normal golfers can’t move their bodies like Viktor.
      I never once said that we should try and swing like him. I actually mentioned in the video it’s not possible.
      The other thing that is important to recognise is the production of the video. If i do a video on Johnny miller i will 3000-5000 views.
      Each video i do costs around 300-400 US Dollars and hours of my time. I have to find a topic or person that helps me balance my business.
