Actually I would have asked more questions, like how Victor aims. It looks like he's got a closed stance and he hits cuts...etc. Still liked the interview though.
absolutely seconded. really did a great job of driving the conversation forward and getting viktor to talk through things. because viktor is already so thoughtful the key is really just to get the right flow & questions in to keep drawing all this great material out of him.
This interviewer is going to be highly underrated. He's so chill he might easily get overlooked but the man knows his golf, he understands what us golfers think about and what we want to know. To top it off he's relaxed, calm, and disarming for a pro. And Hovland has what I think is the greatest swing of all time. No one can strike the ball with his accuracy and consistency. No one. Not even Scheffler. Tiger can hit harder shots, but even at his prime he could not stick it as close to as many pins as Viktor can. Barring any hiccups or unforeseen consequences, I think we are about to witness the Hovland Era coming up.
This is the most informative interview I have ever seen! Golf Channel, CBS, etc. - take note! As single digit golfer this is everything I want to know! VERY well done, and of course - Victor was amazing too!
Super cool. Relaxed and deep. Victor will be one of the long term greats. The details about shoulder angle of wedge vs driver is something as an older ‘pro’ I was just rethinking yesterday on the range! Perfect timing. Go Vic!!❤
Man, this interviewer is amazing! Good questions and really understands the player and the game and makes it easier for us normal players to understand. Viktor is class and such a humble guy! Amazing player!
Love Hovland, his short game has improved so much over the last few months, hoping he can win a major in 2024. Also kudos to the interviewer too, such a relaxed demeanour about him and asked great questions 😀
What a terrific young man, smart and very honest and friendly. So young, so good. Hope he has continued good health and a long and rewarding career. He was a beast at the Ryder Cup in Rome.
Viktor is describing what a good golfer actually goes through to maintain a good swing and keep trying to improve without over-adjusting. I doubt most weekend golfers realize this. Many pros will discuss the standard teaching points rather than describe what they are going through with their own swings. Viktor is more open and honest than many. Also, they both discusss that even a touring pro is not only warming up on the range before his round, but also making minor adjustments if necessary each day.
Great video, I’m really looking forward to seeing where Victor goes from here. He seems like a great guy, very humble and self aware of his own game. Great interview 👍
Very good interview. He is very good at explaining how the wedges and drivers work. And how he wants to come down on the ball with the wedges. Very good instructional video as well.
great insights from some good in depth questions, and such intuitive explanations from Mr Hovland ,over a huge range of potential golfing pitfalls, thankyou both very much guys!👍
Hey awesome! Me and Vik are having the same driver struggles! Ha played a cut for years and decided I needed to learn a draw to have in my bag. Welp there went the one way miss. I miss the days where I knew it wasn't going to go left.
I think most decent golfers go through that fade to draw process that leads to the 2 way miss. I try to cut everything nowadays but can still hit a draw on command :)
@@TheHalo14aus yep! That has been my focus since making this comment. Learning how to cut all of my clubs and grooving that swing but keeping the draw sharp or at least existing for the shots that require that shape.
27:12 Missed opportunity here by the interviewer. Vic was about to explain what he did to adjust from banana to playable cut ,unprompted, and the player was directed back to the exact topic....
Wait. Am I understanding right that with his irons he aims right and plans for a straight pull to the left? Thinking of doing this because my irons always land 20 yards left
He wouldn't be foolish enough to ruin all his hard work he's accomplished so far to do that. They do get tested. He's young, focused and improving his game all while being so HUMBLE! 26 years old and a net worth 18 million at least. Good for him. Keep going cutie pie.😊
Dumb question, but do the pros use standard range balls? I'm just curious if the standard range balls fly the same as competition balls, such as distance and ball flight, etc.
Pros would typically warm up with the ball that they game. Normal range balls spin quite a bit different and don't go as far. When you're trying to dial in ranges during certain conditions/elevations, it's important to hit the ball you're going to game. Little different for non-pros who can't afford to hit $12 sleeves at the range, lol. Most higher-end private clubs will actually have really nice balls at the range rather than the junk range balls.
In tournaments they get prov1s or whatever ball they use, on a normal course its whatever the course has. They are at OSU's course so probably some higher quality range balls. Range balls are cheaper and firmer, constructed with 1 primary layer. Nicer balls have multiple layers which go a bit further and spin differently.
This season he’s hired like multiple coaches & over doing analyzing literally everything. Whatever was the routine the last 3 months of last season…. That’s the formula
In one of his most recent interviews he said he went back to his original swing coach and said he learned from doing too much. Looking forward to seeing how he plays this weekend!
Viktor you don't understand why we hit 3 woods into the 200 yards water and then play the 3rd shot into the green. It's cuz if we layed up we might still hit into the water and then had to play the 4th shot into the green 😅
He speaks better English, with more eloquence, than most Americans. In fact, most young Scandinavians speak perfect English because it's required in schools. Viktor is unique though because he's picked up a folksy Oklahoman accent while losing all traces of a Norwegian accent.
Can see he gets his speed from core strength and twists like a coiled spring. He holds that driver like it's a thin twig. Interesting insights in this interview. Funny that he says all he went to college for was golf - getting an education was last thing on his mind😂
EZ answer. If you are not a college athlete or Pro golfer, do not attempt to copy Victor's swing. I don't even recommend it for him. His back will break right after his left hand deteriorates (already in process). The swing should flow through freely. his is a violent lash to generate backspin.
How do u know his left hands already deteriorating and secondly why would he want to generate backspin with his woods ? Ps his long iron and wood swing are very similar.
@@waynesorensen7071 You are asking why he would want to generate backspin? his driver is like 7 degrees. He hits down and across to have it roundell left to right. Why do I know his left hand is deteriorating. Just ask him. He's mentioned his wrist problems before. You just need to be more detail oriented and listening instead of gobsmacked and awed...
@@tubetime39 well. look really closely at his hands. If they look like arnold, maybe he'll last till he's 35. If not, could be a fast decline. If your normal swing includes a hold off or inside out motion, you are grinding your wrists down every time you hit a shot. Then again, all these athletes take rehab steriods now, so who knows.

Honestly man, what a great interviewer. Phenomenal questions. Just a great vibe and talk
Great vibes man
