Atlas Fallen is a solid open-world action RPG with plenty of platforming and large monsters to fight. Putting aside its weak story and the console versions’ gritty graphics there’s a hidden gem of excellent combat, robust exploration, and surprisingly deep customization to uncover in the sinking sands of its arid wilderness. It’s slightly disappointing that co-op is online-only with no cross-play, but thanks to solid technical performance, it sticks in my mind as one of the better worlds I’ve explored with a friend lately.

No matter what platform they’re on, IGN comment sections will always be ridiculous.
Anything below 8-10 is the worst game ever to some people for some reason.
It's unfortunately how the common consumer thinks. People "need" their opinion justify by a reviewer like IGN or small but loud group in the comments
Nah if your gamer vet...you FEEL the weight of that 7. Like eating pretty meh food. But they charged you 27 bucks for that Plate
There are already too many games for me to ever play that are 10s, 9s, and 8s. I'm not wasting my time with anything lower 🤷♂️

Looks fun so I'm interested, but it also looks like a game that will be $20 by the end of the year so I'll wait and grab it during the holidays.

Seems like all the compliments are for co-op players, does it hold for single players?
The text made me think this was going to be at least an 8. Amazing open world and exploration, fun combat, some questionable textures, and a meh story. Given that combat and the open world is expected to be 98% of my experience, I'm surprised it drags it all the way down to a 7.
Plus, open world-co-op is not super common (and would be impossible on the couch).

Exactly. Should have been an 8. open world co-op + great combat + sliding everywhere + triple jump + massive worlds + builds + hidden items
I'd say it's a 7 at best. This game is seriously dated.

This game was actually so much fun to play. It just needed a bit more enemy variety and a few more weapons. Great game anyway

@@EffigyOfAdamHow was he overly picky... He just pointed out blatent facts. He said the voice acting sounded boring and the lips didn't sync,... Then showed a clip where yes in fact the voice acting sounded boring and the lips didn't sync.
He never said the game is unplayable because of this, He is doing an in depth game review he isn't going to just skim over these things is he. It's worth mentioning because lots of people hate that stuff. It ruins immersion or bores you out of concentration.

Looks dope, but I'm kinda sick of big spongey monster enemies. Was hoping you wpuld be able to fight armies of small dudes.

This game could have been amazing if they had just put some effort into the story and voice acting. It's like they just gave up in the final stretch, not realizing they were so close to greatness.

due to the existence of monster hunter, the bar of large monsters is really high for everyone else.
the monsters needs to feel organic. they need to have emotions. they need to look like they belong in their environment. they need to have that "you're the outsider" vibe to them.
otherwise it's just a monster shaped enemy.

This game is a solid 5 solo for me, with an extra point or so for the co-op feature.
After 10 hours, the repetitive, clothing dye rewarding, lack of personality gameplay was enough to trade it in.
At least it's pretty though..
Not a fan of the RPG elements. Would've loved for this to be like DMC, pure action-focused and maybe some puzzles like Darksiders 2 :)

this one was sorely needed now that ubisoft cancelled the sequel to the one decent game they cooked in the past decade
the major complaints ive heard is that there is little story and characters and that the gameplay is the best part

In a world of Zelda, Elden Ring, Rdr2, Msg V, Witcher 3, Dragons Dogma, GTA V, Cyberpunk 2077, Baldurs Gate 3 and some other extra high quality open world experiences make such purchases seem worthless
this is a hack and slay style game first. This not supposed to be witcher or cyerpunk. this is Devil may Cry with open world exploration.
Is the gameplay great? Perfect. All that matters in an action focused ARPG. Story is backdrop that means nothing. There to be skipped to get to next epic boss fight asap. Gameplay is king.

Be interested to see if a patch isn't released to, well, patch some of the graphic issues. Going to be odd playing a game without a battle pass and the preplanned DLC packs shoved down my throat before the game's done downloading.

Man...watching the interviews with the director of this game..dude doesn't act like he cares about it at all. Devs can't just rely on fast and flashy combat anymore because there are tons of games that are doing that and doing it better. You need some substance.
