When you eat 1500 kcal per day as an adult male, you're bound to lose weight no matter what diet you adhere to... Hope it's sustainable for you though! Nice editing as well :)
Absolutely agree. Unfortunately most the ‘weight’ he lost would have been loss of muscle and liver glycogen and water retention in the body. Each gram of muscle glycogen retains 4g of water. 800g of muscle glycogen between muscles and liver holding 4g of water weight = 3.2kg of weight loss (7.005lbs).
He lost ridiculously small amount of weight i must say. Considering that keto makes you lose 10 pounds in the first week of water weight alone. I know there were his water weight percentage numbers, but i struggle to trust them as they go against typical keto experience.
it's not the *quantity* of the calories, it's the *quality.* If he ate 1500 kcal of sugary items for e.g., he would still lose weight, but he absolutely would not be healthy and still would be extremely hungry, not satiated. The method he is using, ketogenic, overall produces life changing, long lasting benefits. It's not just about losing weight. It's about being healthy.
I really really want to try this. I think my desire to always eat something different and have so much variety is hurting my calorie deficit attempts...
The perceived necessity of variety is something I struggled deeply with for the longest time. If you think you might want to give it a go, I would love to recommend that you take some detailed measurements, and just commit to trying this "same thing everyday" for just *one week*. One week is a lot less daunting than an entire month, but, after experimenting with one week, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the change in measurements from just one week, at which point, you can decide if the lack of variety is worth the trade-off in results!
Agreed! Are you doing both as well? I find it kinda sad that it took being diagnosed as pre-diabetic for me to even discover it, but I'm thankful I did. 🙏
@@MauriceMoves I do both and it's honestly amazing. Interesting to note that 5 of the 13 lbs you lost was muscle. Maybe thats not important to you, but I think you could have lost the same amount of weight and held onto a lot of muscle with a couple hundred more calories, better macro distribution, and of course an exercise routine.
20:4 keto works for me too. Its been a bit harder since I started strength training 6d/wk. Most days OMAD works if protein and fat are good. Macros matter. Lower fat keto is not sustainable for me. I need the higher fat for some reason. Beef on big salads keeps me full the best.
Me too. I do ADF, so eating every other day the choices are aligned with my intuition. Usually always steak, eggs, fish and greens. Never tire of the same foods
I tried this last week and lost 3 kilos even with a few cheat snacks. I’m going to keep going and maybe update my progress weekly here. Thankyou so much for coming up with such a convenient keto diet love it

Great video but I have noticed that ur 3 strips of bacon is 390 calories? Are u sure that's correct? I'm from the UK so I thought maybe the calories may be lower in the UK but having googled it, it seems like they are around the same. I would estimate 3 strips of bacon as being 150 kCal or lower. Are you sure you haven't mistaken the number of calories? Are you able to double check and get back to me as I usually eat a similar ketogenic meal and it's got me pretty confused now!??
I agree that restricting your eating window is the way to go. I struggle on OMAD, but 4-5 hours is good for me. I cant do Keto, dont like meat much and I try and circulate between around 10 meals, I can do them easily and I dont worry too much about lack of variety with nutrients.
A 19 to 20 hour daily fast is incredible. If I were on any other diet protocol other than Keto, there's no way I'd be able to do OMAD. Everyone's body is different, and it's awesome you've found something that works for you! It seems like you've also built up a really great flow when it comes to variety too! 💪

I’m actually incredibly surprised you ONLY lost 12 lbs in a month doing OMAD keto... I just started IF and keto again a couple weeks ago and I lost 12 lbs in the first week and then 8 more lbs the following week.... maybe it’s because my body just knows what’s up since I’ve been doing keto on and off for like 6+ years now.
All bodies are different, we all lose weight differently. 12 lbs is a huge accomplishment, I’m switching to OMAD while doing Keto to see how it goes because 20:4 didn’t do much of a difference for me

@@MauriceMoves Thanks OMW. Didn’t expect a response. Am doing more of IF with the diet, I honestly haven’t eaten early morning in years. Tried. But I can’t. What’s your experience? I have to say I don't know anyone who talks as fast as you do and is so concise!! You are amazing!! Congrats on your weight loss!!! And you really do give compelling reasons for doing Keto!! Mahalo!
Excellent! Except that there’s no way to gauge your insulin levels at home. You have to get a test from the hospital for that. You’re referring to your blood sugar levels. Sometimes you can not raise your blood sugar but your insulin can still be spiking-and vice versa. Lots of sweeteners don’t raise blood sugar but spikes insulin higher than table sugar does. I believe Dr Fung talks about it as well. At any rate, congrats on your success!
@@theresaduffy8222I'm not a tomato eater like Cherry, but the only tomato thing i consume is ketchup and even then if i taste too much tomato i dont eat that brand or i add bbq sauce to it.
I he hate the clean and dirty keto labels. And I cut up my salad with my kitchen shears too lol. I like it like “shredded” basically. It makes it last longer and is just less messy lol.
It is pretty useful that when you go keto, and maybe go to TMAD or OMAD your food costs decrease. Which means you can spend on higher quality foods with the same budget. But certain keto items still cost quite a bit. So you have "figure out" after a bit of personal experimentation and seeing whats in your store.
Love this! Every step towards better health is a good step, and if organic/grass-fed is cost-prohibitive, it definitely shouldn't be the go-no-go determinant. 🙏
Love the "personal experimentation" bit... totally agree; what's available and what's affordable. If I was eating multiple meals and multiple snacks a day, there's no way I could afford higher quality foods. 🙏
I did this back in 1999 and lost 50 pounds. It wasn’t keto, but my overall daily carb consumption was limited. Also, I was young with a better working metabolism.
Whoa... you're a pioneer; I don't think most people had even heard of anything like this in '99! My metabolism has been no good, and I'm trying to use this way of eating to help my metabolism "recover".
@@MauriceMoves It was called "The Atkins Diet" back then. We heard of it, but it wasn't HFLC. It was high protein, which is hard on your kidneys, and your body turns it to sugar eventually anyway. Also, a lot of "Atkins" food/supplements relied on artificial sweetener to replace the lost sugar. Keto is far more evolved.

Thank you, I love simplicity. This was easy to understand. Designing one meal that gets all your needs met (including being easy and practical) and sticking with it for awhile seems like a great idea to get back on track.
I totally disagreed with intermittent fasting and Keto eating. To me, such a regimen was utter foolishness. I was brainwashed on vegan and vegetarian meals with only two or three small portions of meat a week. Nevertheless, I was chronically over weight for 30 years, 248 lbs. at 5’5”, 65 years old now, with high blood pressure, pre-diabetic, frequent HORRIBLE gout attacks, essentially full-blown metabolic syndrome, etc. Then a good friend educated me. Still full of doubts, I wanted scientific arguments to convince me, so I read books, watched hours of reliable videos of MDs who promote intermittent fasting and keto meals. I figured out of last-chance desperation, I’ll try it. Nothing else was working. The results were startling the first week! In less than a month I lost several pounds, was never hungry during fasts, no more gout, slept better, everyone complimented my obvious weigh loss and improved health. I am now fasting OMAD, one healthy, keto meal daily, with plenty of healthy fats (animal, olive oil & coconut oils) with NO dense carbs, no processed foods, no sugar, diet soda or artificial sweeteners, no vegetables oils, etc. I eat a well-prepared very healthy meal every day at 1:00 pm, with fresh vegetables, healthy fats, meat, and a little fruit, no junk food, and I drink seltzer water or herbal teas during the other 23 hrs, with one or two cups of coffee. I’m angry that I never tried this years ago. When I reach my goal between 150 to 160 lbs, I’ll have just two meals a day most days to not loose too much weight, other days I’ll fast. I am so satisfied with A) the ease, B) the extra time I have because I’m not shopping for three meals a day, spending time preparing the 2 other meals I no longer eat, washing dishes, etc. With the extra time saved I run lightly with my dog each morning, something I haven’t been able to do for 30 years. Besides that, OMAD is less expensive so I now afford more expensive natural, healthier food choices and still don’t spend as much as before when I piled on all kinds of heavily processed meals and ate in restaurants frequently. I would do nothing to change it. Unlike some who may have difficulties in the beginning, I never had a problem; it was just simple, easy to implement and scientifically sound.
Good work. I've done keto and IF for 3 years. I lost 120lb, the majority of it in the first year. However I swap my macros around to prioritise protein over fat (120g protein, 80g fat, under 20 carbs) people fear gluconeogenesis but your body will only do this when needed. It's great for preserving lean muscle mass.
Thanks for sharing so much detail about your protocol; I feel like I definitely need to start increasing protein and reducing fat; specifically like you said, to maintain lean muscle mass. Really appreciate your macro breakdown. 🙏 If you don't mind, what is your height and current weight under your 120gP, 80gF,

You ate 1500 kcal a day in the form of vegetables, quality fat and quality protein in a controlled fashion and you lost weight? You must somehow and somewhere know that the weight loss has nothing to do with ketosis or even less with fasting or “eating windows” right? :) If eating that much of the energy from fat instead of carbs keeps you consistent, then great I’m happy for you! But I still can’t help to be a little sad over how obviously these experiments prove that weight loss is 100% net energy balance and still it fuels the confused fires of insulin responses and hormonal eating windows. My last diet was also around 1500 kcal a day and I’m around your weight. I ate about 175g carbs a day, and lost about the same amount of weight, go figure :)
An adult male eating 1500 calories in a day should lose weight. That is a loss of calories. Has nothing to do with ketosis. You're starting with a loss of almost 1000 calories per day before exercise. This is a dumb video.
I'd like to check out the 10 min cooking video that is referred to at about 4:23: ruclips.net/video/NxBtBepvu7Q/видео.html Unfortunately I can't see the link nor find the video on the channel. Is the video still up? EDIT: Found it: ruclips.net/video/8Bt8lmls05M/видео.html
No app is 100% acurrate, but, if we took your data and suppose that is fully correct, you lost 5lbs from muscle out of 12lbs, which comes down to 7lbs lost from fat, which is great in the fat part but not so much in the muscle part, and this is obviously bad for two reasons: 1. Muscle is metabolically active, which means that the more you have, the more calories you can consume or need to consume to mantain it. If you lose muscle, you lose a great way of burning calories. 2. In the long run, this could cause a total shutdown of your metabolism, making you not lose any more fat even if eating 1000kcal So in summary, calorie and protein intake should be upped in order to mantain the already existing muscle, while obviously stimulating said muscles by training, in order to make them stay. TL;DR : Up your calories and protein intake so the weight loss comes from fat and not muscle.
Of course you lost weight that is an extremely calorie deficit for a male. Just like women should not be limited to 1200 calories per day men should not be limited to 1500 calories per day. Dieting reduces your metabolism which means you can’t eat as much and long term yo yo dieting is bad for your health. Do not diet!!! Intermittent Fasting, Keto, Low Carb are all diets! Focus on balanced meals and eating at least 3 times per day. Your body has a set point it will reach where it needs to be on its own.

If you really wanted to check health markers, you should have had a blood test before and after. Cholesterol, triglycerides etc... also you’re losing that weight mainly due to loss in muscle and liver glycogen and water retention. Keto isn’t sustainable and is a restrictive diet that promotes an eating disorder. Ketones are also extremely bad for us and our body only uses them in a fight or flight situation when we are literally starving and have absolutely no fuel (glucose) for our body.

20:4 keto works for me too. Its been a bit harder since I started strength training 6d/wk. Most days OMAD works if protein and fat are good. Macros matter. Lower fat keto is not sustainable for me. I need the higher fat for some reason. Beef on big salads keeps me full the best.
I find the more and more I do keto, I don't mind eating the same thing every day. Usually chicken or steak, eggs, cheese and some veg.
Me too. I do ADF, so eating every other day the choices are aligned with my intuition. Usually always steak, eggs, fish and greens. Never tire of the same foods
I always appreciate how well structured your video are🙌
I tried this last week and lost 3 kilos even with a few cheat snacks. I’m going to keep going and maybe update my progress weekly here. Thankyou so much for coming up with such a convenient keto diet love it
how did it go?
I'm starting my first attempt at a 30 day 24 hour fast. Been doing so much research before starting and I can't wait to see my results!
What are your results? I'm a week in and 10lbs down
I REALLY love that salad bit, about taking the time to interrogate our reasons behind why we do, like or dislike something. I'm all about that self-awareness. Good times! x
Just wanted to let you know that the RUclips Algorithms Gods have blessed you. Great content, my man! You're gonna blow up in no time at all now :)
Dude, you're a stud! Way to go! Reversing those labs is a real achievement. Nicely done!
I'm going to try, no - do this, for Lent. Eat one meal per day and eat the same thing. I think taking out the choice paralysis will help alot.
I was thinking the same thing so I started exactly this
"Choice Paralysis"?....I always wanted to know what it was "called"....Lol!! Thank You! 😀!!
Add a steak, keep the beacon and loose everything else and you should be ok🤣🇨🇦🥩🥓

After completing the 28-day period, you will transition from a beginner to a well-built man. I'm not saying it's easy to stick to it, but I dare you to try...
People all over the world do it. My husband is from the equal poorest country in the world and they eat the same thing every day. Also the benefit of eating the same thing every day is that you can do it without thinking making it easy to know what you should eat/prepare.
@@theresebizabishaka7605 If you get all the Vitamins and Minerals + enough proteins i dont see any reason why not. I eat the same foods 70% of my diet.
Not everybody is like you, some people love the consistency and not having to make decisions and other people love variety and would get bored doing it, pick what works for you
What do you mean “you can’t eat the same thing every day“. Nothing wrong with it if it’s balanced.

Im not a nurtitounist, but im pretty sure by eating that onesided over a long time you are not getting all the essential micronutrients you need. Love this keto diet!! I started 6 months ago with a custom meal plan and i feel so good. I struggled a lot when i tried to do keto on my own . Great video!!!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!!

I don't think you're alone with the big lettuce leaf struggle lol. Chopt and similar chains (which do the work of cutting up your greens for you) took off in big US cities for a reason after all. You're so right about what a difference it makes to the salad eating experience.

Appreciate the content. Also trying to start a weight loss journey. Week 1 on slow carb. I won’t lie it’s been a challenge. I put on at least 10kg in 2020.
Congrats on taking the first steps with Week 1 on your journey! What's been the biggest challenge in this first week for you? The best part of SCD is that your first cheat day is at most, just six days away :) But I'd love to hear back about what specific challenges you're facing 💪
@@MauriceMoves Thanks OMW. Didn’t expect a response. Am doing more of IF with the diet, I honestly haven’t eaten early morning in years. Tried. But I can’t. What’s your experience?
Also with salads over the last 5 days I’ve actually sort of found what I’m into. I don’t like cold food. But after I realised that warm salads are a thing my comfort food cravings stopped. I steam my veg, chicken breast, mixed veg, mushrooms , lentils, spinach (in place of lettuce leaves).... as long as it’s warm I’m ok.

Thanks for taking the time to point that out with so much context and detail 🙏

I he hate the clean and dirty keto labels. It just makes people who can’t afford organic grass fed pasture raised pasture finished free range cage free no hormone no antibiotic everything not want to try or stay on keto because they feel discredited. And I cut up my salad with my kitchen shears too lol. I like it like “shredded” basically. It makes it last longer and is just less messy lol.
Don’t feel discredited, if that’s what fits into your budget , reducing carb is already a great step!!!!
Wow, what a great video. Love everything you said, and how you said it. No fluff and straight to the point. And it was actually helpful. Thank you!!
I stumbled on your channel while looking for a minimalist fanny and I’m truly happy I did. I’ve watched a handful of your videos and I get so much from them; your videos are concise, clean, fluid, fun, organized, and relatable. Please keep up the great content, you earned a new subscriber!
Finally a results video that gets straight to the facts
🙏 If you don't mind, what is your height and current weight under your 120gP, 80gF,
The ratio between proteins and fat is not keto

This was not good results.... only 20% (rounded) of your weight loss (According to Renpho) was body fat.
Why are you only eating 1500 calories?
Because he was trying to lose weight????????????
You ate 1500 kcal a day in the form of vegetables, quality fat and quality protein in a controlled fashion and you lost weight? You must somehow and somewhere know that the weight loss has nothing to do with ketosis or even less with fasting or “eating windows” right? :)
If eating that much of the energy from fat instead of carbs keeps you consistent, then great I’m happy for you!
I'd like to check out the 10 min cooking video that is referred to at about 4:23: ruclips.net/video/NxBtBepvu7Q/видео.html
Unfortunately I can't see the link nor find the video on the channel. Is the video still up?
EDIT:
Found it: ruclips.net/video/8Bt8lmls05M/видео.html
No app is 100% acurrate, but, if we took your data and suppose that is fully correct, you lost 5lbs from muscle out of 12lbs, which comes down to 7lbs lost from fat, which is great in the fat part but not so much in the muscle part, and this is obviously bad for two reasons:
1. Muscle is metabolically active, which means that the more you have, the more calories you can consume or need to consume to mantain it. If you lose muscle, you lose a great way of burning calories.
2. In the long run, this could cause a total shutdown of your metabolism, making you not lose any more fat even if eating 1000kcal
So in summary, calorie and protein intake should be upped in order to mantain the already existing muscle, while obviously stimulating said muscles by training, in order to make them stay.

Just FYI leafy green salads are best eaten with chopsticks. Game changer.
Good for you - quite aggressive though. I'd try to get more protein in there, but it worked for you and that's what matters!
Ok, just figured out that with the new changes on RUclips, I was not getting your notifications, and just changed that.
Does organic really mean anything? I've always heard organic is more of a marketing term than anything and the guidelines on what gets to be organic and what isn't is pretty nebulous
People don't know that humans ate only a few things in their geographic area for millions of years.. Even today, people generally eat the same 20 things every day.
I'm way to picky to eat the same thing, and or that much at the same time O-o , it seems like you may be able to get the same benefits without fasting but you just have to be extra careful what your macros are when it's something new you add
