I’ll be 👀. I’m wanting to start keto but am SOOO overwhelmed on where to start. I have purchased things like Ghee/swerve/MCT oil/etc…. My biggest issue is going to be my COFFEE ☕️😂 I drink a lot of it w/sugar! Coffee is the only thing I can’t stand artificial sweetener in but I have cut the amount I use in half (from 2 tsp to 1) I’ve tried a lot of different sweetners and swerve is the one I can tolerate ……crazy that it’s the brown sugar version I can stand in my coffee 🤷🏼‍♀️. I’m looking forward to watching this ……thnx for reposting the video. (I also purchased a chocolate ghee……any suggestions on using it?). Thnx Thomas. Crystal

@@tergatt4422 cool, give it 2 weeks at least where you are relatively hardcore. Maybe buy some C8 oil, in case you lag energy or get the KETO flue.
I'm back on KETO after an 8 months break. Two weeks in now, no big drawbacks but I have also seen less effect than the first time. This time I have lost 0,5-1 Kg, but guess it's also more difficult as I'm already at a normal BMI. Still keep it up as I hope to get a bit lower in body fat and maybe even lose a few Kg more. Also, I had started to lose the fat-burning benefits I had after the last time I was on KETO, I hope I can get them back by doing a 1-2 months KETO, last time I had a 9 months KETO.
Please keep us updated on how you are doing, and feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Last year this month I weighed around 100 kg. This year this morning I weighed 71 kg.
I started Keto with OMAD (sometimes IF when I was feeling extra hungry during the day) since last year October. That video helped me alot. *YOU* helped me alot! I could not do this without your advice and knowledge. You literally save my live, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Since I started I Keto and OMAD, few months into it
    1. My sleep apnea stops. At first I was insomniac for few months, but now I sleep like a baby :D
    2. My skin gets better
    3. I live in South East Asia, therefore, insect bites are pretty common. When I was way overweight it would take weeks for them to go away especially if they got infected. Now the healing process is a lot faster.
    4. I am suffering from clinical depression as well, but right now, mentally and mood wise I am at a better condition a year ago.
I can't express enough how your videos especially the one that got deleted helped me to be healthier and better! You are a Godsend Thomas, don't let anyone says otherwise.
Edit: I also bought some dumbbells and do full body work out 3 times a week, and the other 4 days, I do cardio by cycling for 1 hour. These exercises also helped me in my journey.

I recently found out I am currently a diabetic. I say currently because I don't intend to remain in this state. I've heard terrible things about the Keto effects that beginners endure. But I've seen worse things happen to diabetics, so I'm going to take my chances with Keto. This video was extremely informative. I am learning as much as I can and preparing myself and my pantry before I begin. My husband has volunteered to be my partner through this process even though he's in great shape. I truly appreciate his support.
I'm going to start by drinking bullet proof coffee a few mornings a week to get me pass the morning cravings and lessen my carb intake with each meal. Within a week or two we plan to go full throttle. Say a prayer for us. We'll be tuning in throughout the week for more videos to keep us going.

Please give us an update!! I was recently diagnosed with diabetes as well. Apparently I have had it for a while, but just found out. Already have kidney damage & I’m truly afraid!!! I hope you are doing great now!!

      @mly3653 2 года назад +1

@@YmarieP1 First, the good news.... my A1C is down from 13.9 to 6.2 without insulin. I found that Keto was too difficult for me. The 2 life savers for me are intermittent fasting and low carb meals. I knew that I was in the position I was in because of my love for food. So instead of making a list of things I couldn't have, I made a list of things I could have and I created meal ideas from the list. Eat meat. Lots of meat. Grilled Chicken breast with salad or sweet potato with cinnamon and stevia, turkey sandwiches on flat round bread with lettuce, tomatoes, bacon... make it filling. Bake fish, sautée some shrimp to top your salad, make a hamburger without the bun, buy coke zero and sprite zero. For snacks try boiled eggs, a snack size ziplock of popcorn, a few sliced pickles or a grapefruit with stevia. Don't deny yourself everything or you will not last. If you crave something sweet after dinner, get 2 Hershey kisses or 3 vanilla wafers. But not after every meal. I even pick something light at lunch like a lunchable, a water with crystal light and 10 grapes. It's just enough to satisfy but not stuff me. I save heavier meals for dinner around 8 or 9 so my fast can last the next day. Training your body to fast isn't easy or pleasant. But don't set out to fast 16hrs on day one. Do 10 hours. Then 12, 14 and eventually 16. Your body will adapt much better. Sip a coke zero if it helps to push you further. Or coffee with Stevia.
I'm trying to put so much info into this message. I hope it's not overwhelming. I also wear a sugar monitor so I won't have to stick myself everyday. I swear, it changes the way you eat. I won't eat unless my sugar is 90 or lower. And try to cut out snacking overtime if you can. Everytime you eat, it spikes your sugar. And if you're on metformin, take it! My life is so much better now.
I will help you in any way that I can.

I've been on OMAD for over 2 years now and can't believe it's taken me this long to commit to going Keto. I guess I figured I could indulge once a day and be fine....but my energy levels have always been extremely low the morning after and it takes several hours for them to pick up. This is even after eliminating sugar, dairy, gluten, refined carbs, seed/vegetable oils & meat. Well over the past week I made a drastic change to my OMAD meal and replaced oats with hemp seeds (thanks to your keto oatmeal recipe). The results are simply GAME CHANGING. First, I want to thank you for having so much I formation available for free. I'm an hourly wage person that fortunately can afford my bills but nothing more.
Second, I started what I thought was Keto about a month ago but taking out sugar (all sugar & sweeteners) and overly processed flours. I went from 220 lbs to 212 lbs in the first ten days. Then nothing for the next 20 days. Discouraged, craving brownies, a day off work and all "life" obligations filled, I started to think, "I might as well just make the brownies I'm craving because I don't know what to do. Then, this morning, day 21, I found your video. I watched the whole thing, took notes, and feel dedicated again. I'm so grateful and thankful that I now have not only the next step but can start to see a life plan. I'm so relieved. Thank you!
Thirdly, two questions. I love honey. And have been using it and dates as a sweetener and binder in my granola bars. Is their a replacement for honey that will "bind" and are dates okay?
I guess this is a third question. I'm assuming coconut sugar is okay. I've read that it doesn't spike blood sugar like table sugar but that doesn't mean it's okay. It could just be it doesn't spike it as much but still has a spike.
    Thank you again.

    • @NeverAloneNeverAfraid
      @NeverAloneNeverAfraid 2 года назад

Dates are about 30g carbs each. Honey is about 15-18g per tablespoon. Coconut sugar is lower on the glycemic index I think, but it’s still sugar. For keto you can have 50g of carbs per day, but if weight loss is your goal then maybe you should do less carbs (30g).

I have started now fasting as well so I'm eating a high fat keto breakfast in the morning around 6am I go to work in A&E on a 12 hour shift. During my shift I have maybe 3 cups of coffee and 2 litres of sparkling water. And then get home and been cooking chicken in my airfryer to make it crispy but also having a hard boiled egg whilst ita cooking. Making peppers with kale and cabbage and harrisa stir fried up with cream cheese and cream as a sauce to eat with the chicken. I don't eat at all at work and my energy levels have gone out the window at work and I'm not hungry either. I've done that now 3 three days this week and back to but then I've fasted over night until 12 to eat this lunch time today.

Amidst all the insanity of the last 2 years, I lost track of you. Now I'm retired, divorces, and living a nomadic lifestyle. NO STRESS!!! Loving it. Now I'm recouperating from the damage of the stress I used to experience daily. Thanks for this video, and thanks for the lean muscle shots. They are pleasant to see and very encouraging. Now! Off for a 3 mile hike in a fasted state! I'm getting there a bit each day.

Just started Keto three weeks ago, but this video was the one which actually helped me to understand certain things about this diet. Thank you for breaking it down in layman’s terms! Thank you for taking the time to do this video. Subscribing and looking forward to watching more!😊

What I've loved about Keto so far: great mental focus, really good and stable mood, I can breather better. And of course I am less hungry than before.

You know, I'm glad that you did actually upload it once again. I was out of keto for a while and I started seeing the brain fogginess again, so I was surprised with this video! And I'm back on track again. Feeling great, thank you!

I am elated that I found this video. I was previously doing keto diet but with the onset of COVID I kinda fell off the wagon. This man is brilliant. I watched about half of this video and realized that I remember more than I thought I did.

I don't usually comment on videos, but this was great! I love how you weren't selling anything, just being real and even correcting yourself on past perceptions as the science evolved with our understanding of keto. I am going to give it a shot and look forward to managing my blood sugar better. great video and I will be checking out the others!

I'm 4 weeks into my custom keto diet plan and I've lost 14 pounds which I must say is pretty incredible, it's actually amazing watching my body transform into something I am actually proud of rather than something I have always tried to cover up. Meals that are based on personal food preferences to make their diet enjoyable and help them stay on track with their plan. Also, a downloadable shopping list each week that details every needed ingredient they will need in the upcoming seven days, here you go

So I found this video 2 years ago and I am not 100% completing a keto diet BUT I have strcutured my life based on a keto/paleo and normal eating. Eating less carbs and more fat helped me a lot in the beginning and now I also have cuttet the fat more. I am restricted to eating any wheat, oats or fibers so as you can see my meal plan is kind of annoying to do :D
I am only allowed to eat 50carbs per day because of an illness so I am using mostly vegan/vegetarian alternatives or keto products. I can fully recommendend this video for starters! you learn a lot in this 46min and I learned to understand my body so so much better! I actually watched this video and started a keto diet 1 day later and kept it for 8months but changed it after that slowly to what it is now.

i'm new to this channel, but... I have to say that I'm pretty impressend by the knowledge of Thomas, in general health, hormones, neurotransmitters, body's biology, keto, fasting, nutrition... He sounds confident, he knows his stuff, speaks in a good catchy way, I mean, this guy is genuine and competent, I can tell only by watching like 2 videos of his. Really, really, great job, I'm following!
    More people like this, please!
Also: congrats! I'm impressed, really, when I have to give credit to someone, when I have to comend and compliment someone, I will, it's well deserved :D
    Thumbs up!!!!

Oh, and i want to add the following: I love veggies, and for people like me, we must watch out for the anti nutrients from cruciferous veggies, beans, grains, nuts and seeds and night shades: lectins (beans and wheat), phytic acid/phytates (grains and legumes), oxalates/oxalic acid (sesame seeds, soy beans, dark leafy greens), gluten and glucosinolates (broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage) are my top 5 to watch out; then, you also have: isoflavones/phytoestrogens (soy beans), tannins, solanine (night shades) and saponins (quinoa).
If you are on keto, you don't have to worry about a lot of them, except for cruciferous veggies, dark leafy greens, night shades and nuts and seeds.
Also watch out for bad fats: processed, trans and seed oils, specially those that are GMO: soy oil, corn oil, canola oil
Oh, and also this: keep an eye on your kidney function if you consume a lot of protein. If you are eating a lot of protein and it can be somewhat unbalanced, it is going to have an effect on your kidneys, so watch out for that.
      ;)
