Lose Your Gut (Pot Belly) with these Strategies - Thomas DeLauer
Fasting
Study from Nature Communications found that fasting preferentially burns visceral fat
Fasting upregulates miR-133a, which inhibits PRDM16, and that reduces thermogenesis in Subc WAT and drives the transition from Sub to Visceral fat**
Visceral fat is preferentially oxidized as it can drain directly into the portal circulation and appears to be more efficient at meeting energy needs compared with the relatively externally located subcutaneous fat
Visceral is more vascular and contains a higher % of large adipocytes plus having more glucocorticoid and androgen receptors than subcutaneous
www.nature.com/articles/ncomm...
Estrogen
Boron
Boron inhibits SHBG, freeing up testosterone, and this increase in T results in the decrease of E2
Additionally, boron can:
Boost magnesium absorption
Reduce levels of inflammatory biomarkers, such as high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α)
Raise levels of antioxidant enzymes, such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, and glutathione peroxidase
DIM
DIM is a naturally occurring byproduct of indole-3-carbinol (IC3), and IC3 itself is a byproduct of glucosinolate glucobrassicin, which is a compound found in cruciferous veggies, such as: broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and kale
In particular, IC3 helps the liver to metabolize estrogen more efficiently via upregulating the CYP1A2 enzyme (CYP1A2 is an enzyme that helps to break down toxins in our bodies)
It also simultaneously converts strong estrogen molecules into less potent ones (via downregulation of the CYPB1B enzyme and upregulation of CYP1A2 enzyme) - results in reduced estrogen levels and a more favorable estradiol/estrone ratio
DIM and its precursor, I3C, suppress adipogenesis, which is the formation of new fat cells
Cortisol
Salt
A lack of sodium causes the brain to send signals to the adrenal gland to increase the release of hormones responsible for water balance (aldosterone & vasopressin) - cortisol is released alongside these hormones
Magnesium
Magnesium deficiency also causes upregulation of the HPA (Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal) axis which leads to anxiety-like behavior in mice. The HPA axis is responsible for influencing production of the stress hormone cortisol.
Also inhibits the release of excitatory neurotransmitters and also acts as a voltage-gated antagonist at the glutamate, N-methyl-D- aspartate (NMDA) receptor
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NB...
Tea for Coffee
Caffeine does cause increases in cortisol, so reducing total caffeine intake may be favorable as well
Liver
Turmeric
Curcumin, one of the active ingredients in turmeric is believed to communicate with liver cells to produce more LDL receptors. Due to increase in receptors, more cholesterol is cleared from our body
Foods High in Chlorophyll (gourd, arugula, dandelion greens, spinach)
Chlorophyll is literally the blood of plants - its chemical structure resembles that of hemin, which combines with protein to form hemoglobin in the human bloodstream
Chlorophyll has proven beneficial to increase the red blood cell count in humans - red blood cells carry oxygen to the tissues
An abundance of oxygen and healthy flow of blood encourages the body to get rid of harmful impurities and toxins - also helps as it chelates to heavy metals
Milk Thistle
The active ingredient in milk thistle, silymarin, creates a detoxifying effect in the body and in the liver as it acts as an antioxidant by reducing free radical production
Silymarin reduces free radical production and lipid peroxidation, has antifibrotic activity and may acts as a toxin blockade agent by inhibiting the binding of toxins to the hepatocyte cell membrane receptors
Pancreas
Study from Diabetologia found that just two weeks of exercise improves beta cell function and reduces pancreatic fat in adults with type 2 diabetes or prediabetes
Found that this short-term training particularly reduced ectopic fat (fat that accumulates in abnormal parts of the body) in the pancreas

Do you have a Vegan Keto Diet meal Plan please??
@baileyboy73 baileyboy73 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Thomas I've followed you for years now. Because of your advice I'm now more knowledgeable and was able to lose 100 lbs of mostly fat. Thank you sir. I named my son Thomas.
greatspirited wow
That's like wow! I guess Thomas should love this comment and reply to it! If you're telling us the truth.
😂😂😂
Let's see proof
All carbonated beverages including sparkling water. Create CO2 when you consume them if you can send them with food THC your stomach. Which means you cannot digest your food properly which means you're going to gain weight it's not the high fructose corn syrup it's not the aspartame it's not the sugar it's the CO2 in the bubble. If you were to quit drinking CO2 build drinks only when you are not eating. You will lose weight easily Coca-Cola does not want people to know this because everybody loves a Coke and a burger but that's why we are fat
As someone who has lost 50 pounds - the most crucial thing is to never take fat loss advice from someone who wasn't previously fat and lost a lot of weight. People who were never fat and have always been in shape just don't get it. Thomas is definitely someone to listen to.
@@Jon-yo4wj No, I'd have to say something like "all people who have lost a considerable amount of weight should be trusted for weight loss advice" which is not what I'm saying
he is trying to sell products here lol
You don't have to buy any product. He makes suggestions. Take or leave. He gives lots of free advice and is paid by sponsors but they are healthful products.
100% truth
That’s weird logic.
So you wouldn’t listen to a doctor about cancer if the doctor has never had cancer before?
You can gain knowledge on a subject and understand the topic wholly without having been there yourself.
1. Intermittent fasting and keto
2. Reduce stress by yoga and meditation
3. Use boron ( males)
4. Omega 3
5. Magnesium
Then what shld women take?? Not Boron-ish.
And eat more cruciferous vegetables, Milk Thistle, increase your VO2 max

Seriously, fasting is one of the best things I’ve done to remove fat, I dropped about 20lbs in 3 weeks on a 24 hour fast.
@@amanidavis2814 how many 24hr fasts did you do in that period?
@@hededcdn I did the 24 hour fast the entire 3 weeks, wouldn’t even take weekends off. I’m back on it. I’m currently at 172lbs, started at 192lbs, I didn’t look too bad, had a decent shape, but stomach was kind of pudgy. I’m going to my goal of 160lbs. Once I get there, I will mostly weight train to get a more solid tone, and eat all of the right proteins this time around.
1. Keto & Fasting
2. Boron for men
3. More salt for keto

@@DarkAbyss9 IKR... Typical RUclips drawn out crap. Calorie deficit is king

With your advice I went from 210 to 154 pounds. My general practice doctor took me off amlodipine (high blood pressure meds), and my general practice doctor says that I don't have to go back on amlodipine unless something unusual happens and I suddenly gain back 50 or more pounds. I follow intermittent fasting religiously and do a very low carbohydrate breakfast at 6:30 am followed by lunch at 11:00. I don't eat after lunch. I also consume 4 tablespoons of psyllium husk powder per meal to help supply added fiber. My typical breakfast consists of Ezekiel bread with stevia sweetened chia seed pudding along with cooked tomatoes, 1 ounce tofu, 1 ounce tuna, and 3 ounces of well cooked spinach omelet along with an artichoke. I also take probiotic, vitamin D, a multivitamin supplement. My typical lunch consists of a stew containing avocado, asparagus, organic pea protein, fenugreek seeds along with homemade stevia sweetened pudding made from 2 cups Malk brand almond milk and 1/2 cup organic chia seeds along with turmeric and 2 tablespoons cacao powder for flavoring. For lunch I also consume one artichoke. Toward the evening I am a bit dehydrated. I liven up with a can of stevia sweetened soda water with two tablespoons of added ginger kombucha, one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, and one tablespoon of lemon juice.

I can’t put it in words, to what extent your videos have enriched my knowledge about diet and workouts... I gained about 14kg, because of thyroid problem. With the help of the knowledge I gained from your videos on intermittent fasting (how to start a fast n how to break it) I’m on my way back to get fit again. I’ve been practising your ideas for about a month and a half. I’ve lost 5 kg already. Keep up the good work👍🏻

Thanks for all your videos Thomas. I originally found you when researching IF. I've never been overweight but I've withered away from 8 years of ME/CFS & osteoporosis. HORMONES AGAIN!!
All your info is helping me find the missing links to what I've already researched/tried over the years and it kind of helps me learn where I may have been going wrong. I highly rate what you put out there and it motivates me to keep trying 👍
Thomas, you’ve helped me before but went through hard times in my life, thus comfort food every time I go through a stressful day. Watching your videos reminds me that you got me through it before, it will happen again! and hopefully keep it off! 💪

(and you need patience).. good video brah.. i support reaching out to real people with real problems
King, intermittent fasting is the nuclear option. .
Not only in regards to lose weight, but I'm also pretty sure that fasting for 4 days was what fixed my problematic knee back in 2015. Either that or a pretty improbable rare coincidence after years struggling with said knee.
@@FeelingShred seriously I was having knee issues--sore and swollen after a fall, but it was taking forever to heal. I couldn't perform specific exercises, such as lunges, or use stairs without pain. I went on a 36 hour fast and my knee inflammation virtually disappeared. Healing seemed accelerated after that and the pain was gone completely 2 days later. Maybe it was also a coincidence but I think fasting cured my knee too.

How do you know your body fat %
I am not a fan of this is
I started a new way of life 6 weeks ago after my doctor diagnosed me with diabetes and obesity.
It's hard. I know a lot of the things I'm supposed to do but have given myself excuses not to do them and gone into that cycle of depression (that my doctor seemed to refuse to discuss), inactivity and overeating.
So I'm just pushing forward anyway. I've been tracking my blood glucose and weighing myself, in addition to eating low carb, cutting out drinks that aren't water, coffee or tea and for the majority of the time, not snacking. Doing Stronglifts 5x5 and 2 miles on an exercise bike 3 times a week. So far I have lost 16lbs, my average blood glucose is 107 and I feel so much happier, storonger, active, healthy, enjoying my family and hobbies and don't feel the urge to overeat. But what I have really noticed, despite the weight not going off really quickly on the scale is that my tummy is getting smaller and less dense. I still have 70lbs to go.
Lockdown wasn't great, but Work from home is enabling me to really get my workouts done without being worried about being late to work.
Thanks you for your advise I've learned to eat cleaner and walking I went from 322lbs to 287 in two months hopefulyl off bp meds in several months thank you Thomas for you channel

But walking and riding my stationary bike for next 3 weeks will bring me down back to 172 lbs 🚲
Thanks I love your channel ever since I started following you I lost weight. I love the science behind your explanation why it works.😀
Thomas, I am 41 years old female started keto over 6 years ago. I lost weight quickly. Lost 67lbs in 6 months, but I needed to loose more got down to 204lbs and I am 5'7". I stayed strict for 3 years. I added fasting, started taking magnesium 500 - 600 MG. Started doing some weights started taking a digestive inzimes. I could not get any more weight to come off. My legs slowly began getting fatter after 3 years keto. Went back up to 211 lbs but maintained that for a long time and it was still better then being almost 280 so I kept trying and trying. Now at 41 I keep going on and off keto. Nothing gets the weight moving. I am so disappointed and can't figure it out but I know keto worked for me in the beginning. I have decided I will never be under 200 lbs again but I desperately want to be under 205. Now I am 239 and nothing makes it budge. I have anemia, brittle hair, very dry skin. Dr. Says thyroid is good. I don’t have a gallbladder. What am I missing?
Thank you it was really helpful, I really liked this information, I will do the fasting because like you said fasting eats more of the bice section i want to loose this belly, all my weight is there only I feel so frustrated, band sad sometimes, when I moved here to Turkey, I gained weight but it all went to my belly I will fast, and thanks so much for the information
I feel like my brain has burnt all my visceral fat by watching your videos Thomas DeLauer
I'm dealing with crushing stress....got fat the last few years.
I'm on day 2 of 16 hour fasting.
Wish me luck......
How r u on day 2 of 16hr fasting?
How ate you doing? The first days are always the hardest but after that its amazing
Edit: are*
I weighted 83kg bfore and i fast for 2 weeks 3 days without food just water and i do cycling for 3 hours a day. I lost about 24 kg in that time. Trust me i was a fat whale before
Once you hit 2 weeks, you’ll really start burning fat. Try walking at fist then some form excercise
Look up Snake Diet / Snake Juice. The snake juice helps you stay on max 2 liters on water per day while fasting. If you fill up with water during a fast you aren't achieving anything. Good luck
Thank you brotha! We need more people like you in the 🌎 world! Awesome awesome information. I recommend everyone to watch your channel!
You give more knowledge than any doctor ever told me.
Frankly I found this to be fascinating; thanks so much... digestion; even more complex than I thought was, and I thought it was complex to begin with. Thanks for the framework, focus and tips; I'll look further into them. PS- These videos are like potato chips in a way; consuming one leads invariably to another...
Thank Thank you I recently was laid off actually a year ago and since then I’ve gained so much weight and your video it’s going to help me I have a potbelly for a woman and it’s very embarrassing but I’m doing with grass and a I’m doing how about eggs and some greens I’m not a cook but thank you and I hope this helps me
This is a great video for an overall strategy, Thanks, Thomas!
I have no overt fat anywhere but a pot belly. It really sucks and I’m working hard to get rid of it. The stress aspect really makes sense, I’ve been an ER RN most of my adult life.
Hey dude With the help of my wife being on the keto diet, doing workouts at the gym, intermittent fasting and applying your advice. I have lost 20kg or 44 lbs since 1st June this Year. Mind you having hyperthyroidism might be helping this a little as well.
I have had that for the past 4 years and I still couldn't loose weight before that. I am now only about 3 kgs away from my ideal weight. This last bit of weight is way harder to get rid of than the last 20 kgs. So I am going to take your advice about loading up on GOOD carbs like lentils etc for about 3 or 4 days and do the high intensity cardio one week and high strength at the gym the next week. Due to a long term shoulder injury, I am not looking forward to the high weight/strength workout as this could hurt a lot. I think I will have to try and be careful when doing this. Anyway thanks for your advice. I see you as my keto coach. In fact I might go to the gym now. Thanks for the inspiration.
