  • My Fibroid Surgery Story and what the recovery is really like.
I had a large fibroid removed in July 2020 after putting the surgery off for 3 years. I wanted to share what the recovery is really like after I had my fibroid removed. I had an open myomectomy surgery, and it was my FIRST surgery.

Thanks for sharing! I had a myomectomy 5 years ago for an intrauterine fibroid that was 7cm. I remember that my surgeon was Ivy League educated, but she was a fairly new surgeon (she'd completed her training in like 2014 or '15, and this was in 2016). I remember that she wanted to send me home with no pain medication! She said, "Oh, the surgery is a breeze... you can be back at work the next day and Tylenol or Motrin will do you just fine!"
    Like.... "Girl, WHETTT?"
I get that some people abuse those meds, but Motrin barely helps with menstrual cramps (Tylenol doesn't help at all) and this was a surgery that I had to be put to sleep for. And I remember it was on a Friday, so no offices would be open if I had an issue.
When I woke up?? I was in SO. much. pain. My uterine area was radiating with pain. My sister, whom- thank GOD this was before COVID-19 and she could be there- had to speak for me because I think I was in shock from the pain. 😆 (No, but fr though.) The surgeon begrudgingly gave me a Rx to take home. You would've thought that I'd asked her for a lifetime supply of medicine vs just enough for a weekend. I think she gave me either 8 or 10 pills.
Unfortunately the fibroids are back, and they're bigger, so I have to have this procedure again, albeit with a different surgeon this time. Praying for a much better experience this time, because I'm SUPER nervous after last time.😬🤞🏾

Can I please ask how you're doing now? I hope you're well. :) I'm getting open myomectomy for many, many fibroids, some large ones, soon, and then I have to move, like, a couple of weeks after. I can pack beforehand, and we're paying for movers, but how long do you think I should wait before I actually do the move? For context, I'm moving a 5hour drive away from where I live now. I'm trying to figure out if I can get the surgery sooner, so it's many more weeks in between the two, but my doctor is so busy. After the move, there's a thousand other conflicts, and I really need this done asap, due to insurance stuff, and some other issues. Please let me know, if you can. Thanks!

It's great to hear the surgery was a success and you healed well. I remember when I had inguinal hernia surgery ( relatable but not as serious of a surgery) and then hurricane ike happened and I had no power for 2 weeks. Since I was young at the time, I healed pretty fast and was bouncing off the walls by week 3. I contribute that to having a great surgeon!! I remember being able to walk around and taking pictures of the damage ike caused (of course with family, I would never walk alone after surgery lol)...Then I saved the pictures on MegaUpload. I should have put it on facebook lol.
Oh yeah that pipe down my throat when I woke up from surgery caused me to cough up blood. That was scary lol.
I waited some years before getting my surgery done and the hernia opening grew pretty large. When I woke up they said they were surprised at the size of the hole. Luckily my surgeon had the skills to deal with the surprise. I still don't know what magic he used to get it all done in a 3 inch cut. I wish they would have recorded it.
Being young I didn't know what it was and also knowing my family at the time didn't have money I didn't tell them. I knew it wasn't cancer because when I laid back the intestines retreated back into the abdomen. The only time it was extremely painful is when poop moved through or standing for long periods. (stabbing pain and getting kicked in the nuts)

Also, and more importantly, I am glad you came through the surgery okay, that is fantastic news.
Moreover, support is vital, as I became very depressed and when you noticed your moods are low, seek professional help immediately, as this can aid recovery further, and help you, live a fulfilling life, as well as get back to what you love doing for your life.

Hey I am 10 days post op and I’m feeling good. I did stay in the hospital 🏥 for one night as well and I had a catheter and then when it came out I walked the hallway. I had a bikini cut as well.
I was on a liquid diet before and while there. I had no visitors as well cause of Covid. I actually had to redo the covid test when I got to the hospital 🏥 because they never received the first one. My throat was scratchy as well the first few days after surgery I know it’s from the breathing tube. Yea I couldn’t fully stand up straight either still can’t really. I do the same step thing as you one at a time. My incision is covered with the steri strips and my dr told me to face away from the shower I just took the shower head off the thing and then rinsed off like that. I blow dry the incision with my hairdryer.
My dr said that was fine. I haven’t seen a picture of my fibroids. I was prescribed ibruprofen 800 and Percocet.
I believe my biggest fibroid was 6cm.
    I also had ovarian cysts.

All my other ones have been same day, but my major surgery they kept me 24 hours but if that was not the best sleep, I’ve ever had in my life. I had no pain except soreness. Of course I slept like a baby, so when they were like OK you can go home the next day. I was so bummed. I felt more comfortable in the hospital, but this one is very different for me and the other one is a profit me this is my first open so I would prefer to stay at least 2/9 make sure I pass gas urinate bowel movement make sure my pain is under control because that is what I’m worried about. I don’t like taking heavy heavy payments. I’m just really nervous but my last first big surgery with bariatric surgery laparoscopically, and my recovery one’s ultimately in Breathing so I guess if I can do that I should be able to survive this. Hope you’re doing well and thanks so much for sharing your experience.

Hi Taniya, Hope all is well. I had a question about fibroids. What type of fibroids did you have? Location and size. Just curious because I know that impacts the surgery outcome. Also have things change since your surgery? Take care best of luck 😀

Use Agbara herbal powder to completely shrunk your Fibroid, Remember Fibroids are abnormal growths that develop in or on a woman's uterus. Sometimes these tumors become quite large and cause severe abdominal pain and heavy periods, pelvic pain, miscarriages. In other cases, they cause no signs or symptoms at all. The growths are typically benign, or noncancerous. But With Agbara Herbal Medication, This will Be completely cured,,,,Remember surgery does not removed or cured Fibroid,
