I had one in 2017. I recovered within 2 weeks. I didn't use all my pain pills because I didn't need them. The first day after surgery was ok but day 2 and 3 was horrible, but I was totally fine by day 5 or 6. They recovery wasn't as bad as I thought. 3 years later and everything is normal, sex life never changed and my partner say nothing different. Sometimes I forget I had the surgery. If anyone is about to have the surgery don't worry yourself.

Thank you so much for sharing. I'm having a hysterectomy in about a month, due to multiple fibroids, one of which is big and growing. I'm here on you tube to prepare, find out what I need to know before, during and after, and so grateful for women like you who openly share, even the 'TMI', to help us all. I love your style, I felt like we were catching up over a coffee :-)

Did your doctor mention UFE ? It should be offered to anyone suffering with fibroids before hysterectomy, as it is safer, less invasive, treats the symptoms effectively without any surgery, and you get to keep your uterus. Learn more at ATLii.com

I had this done in March 2020 and I can relate to nearly every part of your story, identically. I've never watched you before so I don't know what you normally post, but you're wonderful for sharing your story. It's such a common surgery but it's a huge surgery to undertake. And it's scary. There is a lot that runs through our minds. We need community. And then to hear afterwards that had I known I could feel this good now, if I had known, I would've had this done so much earlier. All the best to you!

Thank you so much for sharing all the details! I am 2 weeks post op, and I am struggling with my emotions. I had adenomyosis (where the endometrium was growing into my uterine wall) and struggled with VERY heavy flow (changing an Ultra tampon and soaking an overnight pad in 2 hours) for 3ish weeks and then I would get one PMS week and start all over again! This went on for 4 years, trying an IUD that fell out in a softball sized clot. Then taking birth control 3 times a day for a while to "get it under control" which it never did. Then we attempted a D&C, which lessened the flow for 2 days. I was so tired and fed up with it all I cried in the doctor's office. I swing from being so grateful that there is modern technology to allow me some relief to being so frustrated that it took so long to finally get that relief and then back again! I love my doctor (he has been so good throughout my infertility treatments and was truly trying every non major surgery option before!), but feel like if a man were bleeding as much as I was with a plummeting hemoglobin level of 5.2, something more would have been done sooner! I am so happy I pushed and advocated for myself (which was so difficult for me) to finally have a hysterectomy!
Now, I am feeling some soreness, but I am so tired and restless all at the same time. I have 5 kids so not a lot of time to rest after school. When I take a nap during the day, then I am awake at 4 a.m. I am taking 4-5 short walks a day around our neighborhood to help with the restlessness and to prevent any blood clots from forming. I am a little concerned about my sleep schedule when I return to teaching in 4 weeks! Good thing we will only have 2 weeks of classes before summer break! Again, thank you for putting your personal experiences out there! Hearing your experiences has helped me immensely! Smiles, Abby Smith

Thankyou for sharing, I have only just about diagnosed with Fiabriods 3 days ago. Yet to go down the journey of the hysterectomy. This is what we have decided, yet to discuss with my doctor and lucky enough had children. This seems the next best answer and procedure. I am happy with my decision. Currently had bleeding issues and decided to see my doctor for answers. I currently have Mirena in this was being pushed out due the Fiabriod and this caused my heavy bleeding. Rina, thank you for sharing your story. I'm sorry you went through all that but so relieved you've received a diagnosis, care and are on the road to feeling better. I'm on this path now myself and everything sounds so familiar. My differential diagnosis is adenomyosis - it's a condition where the lining of the uterus grows back into the uterus and it's debilitating pain and recurring blood bath - like a total massacre. lol. I don't really have fibroids but they sound terrible. For me, it's taking a long time to get diagnosed and get a treatment plan going. Pelvic MRI is next - and hopefully a hysterectomy this fall. Looking forward to the end of this pain. You look amazing!!! Big hugs girl, Amy

One of my concerns was would I feel less of a woman and also would I miss my periods, I'm glad you touched on these questions. Also, I too have been focusing on what could go wrong and not necessarily on the improved quality of life that most women seem to experience after this surgery. It saddens me that so many women have to take such drastic action for our gyno issues, I wonder if this was something affecting men would a more subtle more holistic treatment be discovered.

Thank you for sharing. I had a hysterectomy on July 28th I was scheduled for one in September on the 1st. Due to reoccurring fibroids after a myomectomy in July of 2013. My uterus was the size of a 24 week pregnancy. It took me a year to come to this decision because I’ve wanted to preserve fertility in hopes of one day being a natural mother. My journey changed when my health was impacted greatly. The fibroid began to impede the space of vital organs causing loads of pain and left leg numbness. I am healing and recovering. Ultimately happy that I’ve made this permanent choice.

Ok first of all....wtf. I've been in quarentine and look like Nick Nolte's mug shot.....YOU....come out glowing looking fresh as a daisy lol.
This video is brilliant thank you Rina. This is actually something I have wanted for years. My father died of cancer. He had a sore back and 2 months later he was dead....so I LITERALLY have a full blown panic attack everytime I have the slightest thing off. If I felt that mass.....I would have DIED on the spot lol. I too have issues with massively painful cycles that are super heavy. I take the pill to STOP my cycle All together and have for years....but have debated having this surgery. Bonus is.....one less place I have to worry about cancer, but I heard a few horror stories so have put it off. Plus being 47 they are always like...."are you sure". I know keeping your ovaries avoids going into menopause...but I think I want those removed too. Either way, listening to this was super helpful, so thanks for sharing your experience and glad to see you're still funy as hell lol ❤️😂

They also gave a nausea patch behind my ear and put pressure things on my legs to prevent blood clots. I stayed overnight and they gave me pain meds through the night. I got up the next morning pee’d and showered then went home. I’m taking the full 6 weeks and so far recovery has been great. Coughing DOES hurt lol. I heard after the uterus is gone the ovaries will not be getting 100% blood supply, and that will caused the ovaries to eventually run out of steam. I'm not sure, but I did read someone else here said that early menopause is possible when that happens. That's why I'm hesitant to get a hyst even though my fibr is huge.
