I met Christopher Reeve years ago. It was a few years after he had made Superman but a year or two before he hade this film. He was one of the warmest, most down to earth people you would ever meet. Completely non pretentious and didn't care about his celebrity.
My older brother (RIP ) was in the studio audience when he hosted SNL .He said you could tell he wasn't quite used to preforming live comedy ,but he had loosened up by the end and seemed to enjoy it .
Wonderful. My bride and I were on Mackinac Island two months after this movie was filmed. We returned for 14 more years. Know every spot where this was made. Watched the movie from that very theater. Thank you for that wonderful trip through "Some Where in Time. We loved Machinac lsland. The most incredible place in the world for so many reasons. My beloved is gone now, but not the memories of our 14 years in "Some Where In Time." I miss you my beloved Susan.❤️
Done with heart, dedication, & true artistry. This was my husband’s favorite movie. At the end of the movie, he would look away from me. I knew he had tears. He was a romantic. Real men don’t cry. BS. Real men like my husband are rare & wonderful people. After 29 years & 2 months of marriage, my husband passed away 2015. I will meet him again when I pass away. Tomorrow is his birthday.
It's also my favorite movie and I wish I could visit there it's to me the most beautiful hotel in the world and I just love the music which I have managed to get
This really evoked some strong emotions from me. The longing for times past, especially with one who is no longer alive, is one of the most bittersweet and haunting feelings.
You and me Nancy! My favorite movie of all time! I'm a grown man almost 6 foot tall, almost 250 pounds and still I'm not ashamed to say everytime I watch this movie I get tears in my eyes. This is what true love is, and sadly they don't make movies like this anymore! I own this movie on DVD, VHS tape and have given away this movie to different people as well. What fantastic work you've done here. All the editing is amazing. Beautiful. Know that even after all these years, have seen it so many times, I still cannot see it without profoundly hurting inside. The most romantic movie ever created. Absolute love, archetypes and the universal truth that Love won 2000 years over death and that love is winning against time. God bless for this magnificent tribute.
Dumbest movie ending ever. Guy died of a broken heart? Lol should have gone with what the book wrote. Which is that he dies of a brain tumor. The tumor caused him to hallucinate all of this.
Hi Matt. I'm from the Philippines and I was 20 when I first watched this movie. I'm in my 60's now and I've lost track of how many times I've rewatched it. I have the movie soundtrack on my phone and I never get tired of listening to it. Thank you for this wonderful video dedicated to the movie! I hope before it's my time I can get to visit Mackinac Island with my wife who is my Elise McKenna.
This is neat video on the most wonderful love story ever! And Jane was so pretty but how could any woman not fall in love with Christopher. He was so gorgeous.
Thank you so much for making this video . I just discovered Somewhere In Time and I don’t have the words to describe how it’s affected me other than lots of tears and a longing to have that love . It’s the most beautiful story and movie soundtrack I’ve ever experienced. 🥰
Favorite movie! Music was used for my wedding theme! I didn’t end up marrying the guy I spent many years w/, although it was our favorite movie. My husband took me to stay @ Grand Hôtel for our ten year anniversary. We stayed there for their spring package and went to all of the movie sights, except lighthouse. Mackinac Island does not allow cars driven, so the quaint town is wonderful. Sadly, same year we visited, Christopher Reeves fell off horse and injured himself. My husband often plays Rachmaninoff’s Theme from Paganini on our piano. Loved Jane Seymour’s beauty from “James Bond’s character, Solitaire-Live & Let Die.” Loved Christopher from “Superman.” These actors made beautiful love story timeless. I bought the Somewhere in Time memorabilia book, the light house, the music box, and kept all my items given in our room. In evenings, guests had to dress up in evening gown and suits, lovely!!
A million thanks to you Matt for bringing me to the exact place of the scenes of SOMEWHERE IN TIME...this movie really touch my heart and felt the atmosphere of sincere and romantic love happened in different time..it's a goosebumps feeling for me seeing all details and landmarks of Grand Hotel that still exist....fr. manila.Philippines...thanks

Strength, vitality, exquisite resonates of breath....its alive with its existence....too beautiful to describe...its not the past or future but always present..an experience in this movie..TY.
Thank You so much. I'm a complete wreck now, again. We all agree, great piece of work. It's like being half awake. A really great dream you don't want to wake up from. Love is so powerful. You put lots of Love into this video. That's all I felt. Love lives on, like Christopher Reeve and all our loved ones will, forever in our hearts.
I am not a romantics in general but I always become one every time I watch this movie. It makes me believe there is true love in the world. You have done an amazing job in this video. Thank you!
4/10/2020 ~ Again, the nostalgia of RICHARD and Ms. McKENNA, lost love hurts in my throat. This is bittersweet. Looking at Christopher makes the sadness multiply. Few stories are so purely lovely. Matt's romance with the film itself is bittersweet, too. Trying to capture the love between the stars, Matt must have had similar feelings Richard felt trying to recapture his love. Loved this .
This is a very ironic twist of fate, visiting the filming locations of a movie that is based around returning to the past from the future. It got me very choked up. Beautifully done. Thank you for this ❤️
Rachmaninoff's variation of a theme of Paganini op18. My most favourite piece of music in the whole world before I ever saw the movie and heard Christopher Reeve utter the same words. I cried.
Thanks for taking me there in this video. It's a place I could never afford to go too, so your video allows me some sort of escapism in the troubled world we live in. 👍👍
Thank You for keeping alive one of the great movies ever produced. The experience of going back to the scene where it was filmed was an exhilarating experience.
Floored, and a puddle with every viewing of this timeless movie, with lifetime crush on the lovely Jane Seymour and respect for the tutelage of Christopher Reeve. My all-time favorite movie, as a hopeful romantic, and proud of it! I HAVE to subscribe :)
I'm 47 years old and I saw this movie when I was a kid. Really beautiful. I congratulate you, you have done a huge and beautiful job. A hug from Chile.
I watched this movie twice, with the same girl, now my wife... Love the film very much. The film was so popular in Hong Kong at that time. C.Y., Hong Kong
"Somewhere In Time is one of my favorite films".... mine too!!!! Everything is magic about this movie, the music at first! Nice job Matt!!! So good as a TV documentary!!!
Absolutely amazing TV Vlog for your work done! Richard Matheson as writer for this book and sequel as well by David L. Gurnee -Memoroes of Elise, can take anyone back to Somewhere In Time. Same writer as well for What Dreams May Become movie script starring Robin Williams. Matt keep doing what you do! It's a job well done. Thanks and Enjoyed so much.
Matt, I can't say how wonderful this tour was!!! I have loved this movie since it came out... the cast, the music... everything about it! You brought it all back in this glorious videography! THANK YOU!!!
Matt, this is my favorite movie of all times! I hear the music and tears come! I've been to Mackinac Island 3 times. I NEVER tire of any scene in this most romantic movie! They couldn't have picked anyone more perfect than Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour!! Thank you and your wife, Ashley for doing this video of comparison! God bless you both! 👫
Incredible!! Wonderfully put together - I absolutely love this filming, the style, the clarity and the quality...Thank you so much. I first saw Somewhere in Time the year it came out and I was never the same... I swear to you the impact it had on me, my emotions, my heart just soared. 9 years later, I would put this soundtrack on for my baby boy when I was pregnant with him and after he was born and I swear to you, it impacted his life...He is a beautiful soul today. Every note of Somewhere in Time's soundtrack top to bottom is unlike any other. I can't stop crying when I hear it...can't help myself. I hope to never lose that feeling. I want to thank you so much - you made my day, night, week...year!! I feel like I am there ...truly there! Cheers to you for this!!! You made a phenomenal memory far far better...I am so grateful to you for this!
One of my favorite movies. Mackinac Island was just added to my bucket list. Thanks to you Matt! The state of Michigan must have be soooo giddy after you showed this fine labor of love to the world! 👍❤✌

WE APPRECIATE YOUR FIRST CLASS VLOG!!
Beautifully done, watching this brought tears to the eyes of this old man. I love the movie, the stars, the music and, of course, The Grand Hotel. It is difficult to imagine a better place for the original film and your perfect tour. I am fortunate to have visited the island and the hotel a few years ago. My wife of 54 years and I walked the lobby, the veranda, and the grounds. We ate in the main dining room and took a horse drawn carriage from the dock to the hotel. I felt the presence of serenity and beauty and believe with all my heart that Cristopher and Jane are a presence there. It is my understanding that the original book took place at the Del Coronado in San Diego. The Del is like the Grand, a magnificent monument to another time. The producers felt they could not make the Del look enough like 1912 to meet the needs of the story. The Grand looks much the same today as it did when the movie was filmed and as it did in 1912. They could not have chosen a better venue. Thank you for this wonderful video.
I really should see this movie. My cousin worked on it. He was Christopher Reeve's stand-in and he had a small part as "Man in Library." I think he told me that his car was also used in the movie.
My god! Thank you very much for this documentary! I'm a 42 years old Brazilian, who loves this movie since I was a kid in the 80's. Someday I'll go visit the hotel. You did an amazing documentary! Thanks for that! Marco from São Paulo, Brazil.
Thank you so much for this beautiful picture and thanks for letting us go back in time with you, so grateful you took the time and effort to show parts of this epic movie made me feel sad and happy all at the same time. You are awesome 👏 😪👏♥️🙏🏻rest in peace love you Christopher reeves
I just came across your vlog (this!) and I LOVE IT! This is my favourite movie and I’m so glad I found it. You did an excellent job! Amazing talent you have … thank you! You made my day!
This so appeals to the geek in me. I always look up filmimg locations. Thanks for taking the time to go there and match up scenes, really good work. I miss Christopher Reeves . He was such a good actor. So believable in every role he played and such a good man overall.
We go to the Island every year. Met Jane Seymour in 2010 while biking around the Island. Last year the Island residents performed a community play, and we arrived early so I could nab the Christopher Reeve seat. A special night. This is a fantastic video. We just returned yesterday from 4 days on Mackinac and had dinner at the Grand Hotel for our 50th wedding anniversary. Next July we are renting an 1880's cottage on the East Bluff for 2 weeks. Bringing this video with me. Next time, get the Gazebo shot. It's up near the Fort now
I loved him and his movies. He was a special gift who's life was tragically cut short. It's sad that destiny can be so cruel. He was lucky to have such a wonderful family. She followed him soon.
Thank you, Matt and Ashley, for creating this video for us! I felt as if I was there with each scene that you superimposed a clip from the film and then kept coming back to how it looked today. And it was done enough times with perfect precision, that I could actually picture each scene as when it was being filmed. I really loved the fact that each of you got in a position where Jane Seymore was standing or where Christopher Reeve was sitting. Just brilliant!! The most touching part of your film is the ending where you not only dedicate it to the hopeful romantics of the world, but that you continued by saying & to my wife Ashley.....I love you......with a GORGEOUS wedding photo of the two of you!! I can't stop crying!!! God bless you both!! And thank you!!!
The comment from this person was everything I wanted to say they said it perfectly of how I wanted to say it to you matt and ashley.. Well done!! Everything!! And congratulations on your marriage ❤ I first saw this movie when I was 13 years old .and just now watched it again at age 56 THIS MOVIE is TIMELESS Matt and Ashley through your video I felt like I was there! Thank you it was beautifully done! ❤
Matt...incredible. I saw this movie when it first came out. You did one of the best filming location videos I've seen on RUclips...and I've seen a bunch. Thank you from all of us for taking us to a place where time stands still and the heart is pure. I may not get to the hotel before I kick...but your video is close enough. Thanks again.

Thank you Matt. You made my day. I found your research by luck. Thanks a million. I love the movie. It's a legend and a classic. Unforgettable. Many blassings to you and family. Keep up the good work.
Fan from Thailand, this is my favorite movie and the theme song is still in my ear.I looked “ somewhere in time “when I was in the first year university and now I am 57.
Thank you. I have always loved this movie and having lived in Michigan and being on Mackinac Island as a child. Well, there just aren't words to describe my feelings. I love how you have integrated the real scenes with the scenes in the movie. Just wonderfully done!!!! Thank you again.
As someone who also loved 'Somewhere in Time', I absolutely love this video. I so want to thank you, Matt, for making this video. I can't exactly explain but your video took me to the same feelings I had when I first watched Somewhere In Time. Loved it.

Great movie, great actors, great music. A movie so inspiring to love with the whole heart!!! I love it!!! Chris was so great in this movie and so does everyone!!!
Well done. A gripping and tragic love story brought back to life some 40 years later, 'Somewhere in Time.' There is a certain 'magic' that comes through, that works its way into a part of one's soul that some of us 'hopeless romantics' never even knew was there. It seems the combination of elements of this movie add up to a greater whole than the sum of the individual parts. Tears are always close companions, as the scenes unfold, one into the next. "Come back to me." "Is it you?"
Matt this was wonderful. Really, really touched me. I have the soundtrack CD in my car and play it all the time. I love this film and Rachmaninoff's contribution too it lifts an already stunning musical score and screenplay up to another level. You have done the film a great service with your superbly produced blog. I was already in love with SIT when I met my future wife back in the 80's. Now, with 22 years of marriage behind us, she loves SIT just as much as I do. I doubt I'll ever have the finances to leave Surrey, England and visit The Grand Hotel, so your film has made that pain just a little bit more bearable. Thank you.
I literally just finished reading the book. I'm crying my eyes out! This is one of my favourite films and have watched it many times. I was fortunate enough to visit Mackinac Island too in 1991! I love your video. This story just resonates with me. I love a poignant love story. Thank you for bringing back some lovely memories x
Thank you very much for your care in mirroring the old images with the current ones without losing the atmosphere of the film. I thought it was a delicate and beautiful tribute to the film and the main actors Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. Congratulations for the dedication in editing 👏😊✨
You've jump from here to there, make us do travel throught time just like C Reeves did. How wonderful that everything still keep the same. Even the tree..ha ha..Legend deserved to live forever, indeed. And the music, is real music. Thank you Matt.
Thank you for your videos, Really enjoyed your presentation of the Somewhere in Time locations etc and the superb way in which you morphed the movie with the present day, together with clips, and of course that beautiful music. EXCELLENT video. It is sad you can't see the outdoor stairs anymore, but it still brings back all the magic. First saw this move at my (future) mother in laws during the early 80s. I think initially the tv was playing in the background. The music grabbed our attention, something special about to be aired, and it was, and still is. John Barry's composition is just sublime. Hus music really gives substance to the storyline whilst stirring the audiences' inner emotions/tears. Yep, that music certainly hits the spot! Another great story concept from Richard Mattheson (who makes a cameo appearance), great screenplay, fantastic music score (and possibly the making of the film), fine actors, costumes, and a gorgeous location. Jane Seymour is divine as Elise (love the hair). All in all, a winning combination that continues to delight. Coincidentally, the date "Is it you" is my mother in laws birthday (dd/mm), which adds extra sentiment to me. My mother in law once attended a photo studio with my husband and (the subject) our young daughter (we were tempted to name her Elise) Whilst similar but not exact, our daughter's pose so reminds me of 'the portrait' each time I see it. Beautiful. I would love to acquire/own some of the movie souvenirs available, ie the portrait and the Grand Hotel music box, but prices are astronomical! My collection comprises dvds; and somewhere, a 1980s LP record/soundtrack I purchased new back in the day. Awesome! Thank you for an enjoyable and emotional trip back to 'Somewhere in Time'
I'm crying here. It's the mixture of the music and love story. It kills me. And to think they really were in love....❤❤❤❤❤❤ I wish I lived in America to go to your conventions. I probably cry all the way through. Thank you....❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is exactly what I was looking for! Wonderfully done! I too love the movie Somewhere In Time. My husband and I celebrated our 30th Anniversary at the Grand Hotel. Room had a balcony with a view of the lake and Mackinac Bridge. Breath taking, absolutely breath taking! We're making plans for a return visit, with this video I plan to see ALL the Somewhere In Time scenes! Thank you Matt! You were fun to watch with all of your excitement!
I'm only 8 minutes into the video, I've not seen part 1 yet but had to stop to post a comment. Thank you so much for taking the time, making the huge effort and sharing all these wonderful images from one of my most beloved movies!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I am so glad you did this! And I’m glad I found this video! I often wondered what it looked like today compared to back then. I suppose the movie has been my all-time favorite when it first came out in 1980. It’s timeless, it was a great story about soulmates, although separated by time, were destined to find each other, then lost each other, and ultimately found each other again for eternity at the end.
I saw this the love of my lifetime. I it uncanny that Christopher Reeves and his beautiful wife Danna passed within a year of each other. Wow what an ironic coincidence. I think not. He always said she was his medicine. I send my prayers to their son may he have a beautiful life. That will also be filled with a timeless love.
A masterful piece of storytelling. The music score is simply divine; it still makes my heart ache. I’ve turned 82 y/o and will continue to love this wonderful film until the good Lord says ‘full time’.
Fantastic Matt, the filming was spectacular, The way you captured the exact location and ran two film visions together was just amazing! It was impossible not to get caught up in the emotion of the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Keep up the great work Matt!!!!
I watched this on cable numerous times in 1981 when I was 9 years old. I only watched it because Superman was In it and it ended up being one of my all time favorites. Jane Seymour is so beautiful in it. I would of went back in time for her as well. Well done...👍🏻

Matt, you are a true filmmaker & editor. Much effort was put into this & your dedication came through.

I agree, best review video I have seen so far. I was just there a couple weeks ago and making a small version myself so check it out if you can!
I had my Senior Year Pictures done here back in fall of 1980; I lived in a different state but it was worth it to drive to that beautiful place!

It impacted me so much I named my daughter Elise McKenna and I had visited the island 5 yrs prior to having her so I knew the perfect name for her. ❤️
It's Wonderful Experience..
One of my favorite movies. Mackinac Island was just added to my bucket list. Thanks to you Matt!
The state of Michigan must have be soooo giddy after you showed this fine labor of love to the world! 👍❤✌

WE APPRECIATE YOUR FIRST CLASS VLOG!!
truth in the light of the Beloved Father. Blessings!!!
Thank you Matt. That was FABULOUS. You are a sweet blessing to all of us who love the film, the hotel. the island. God bless.
Joan Kilburn Thanks Joan. I appreciate it.
Beautiful video, I enjoyed this till the end, a really good job, thanks for this amazing travel thorugh time, dear friend.
one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen....one of my favorites...
Enjoyed your video very much...
I really should see this movie. My cousin worked on it. He was Christopher Reeve's stand-in and he had a small part as "Man in Library." I think he told me that his car was also used in the movie.
Brett Jeffries That's really cool man. Yeah you should see it. haha.
Brett Jeffries Did you ever see the movie? I watched it again yesterday? It's timeless.
CBrett Jeffries xhb
Brett Jeffries well done !
Thanks to John Barry for the soundtrack :)
My god! Thank you very much for this documentary! I'm a 42 years old Brazilian, who loves this movie since I was a kid in the 80's. Someday I'll go visit the hotel. You did an amazing documentary! Thanks for that! Marco from São Paulo, Brazil.
GREAT, great work. I wish I could give this ten (10) thumbs up.
Thank you for this beautiful experience of a walk through “Somewhere in Time”.
It's up near the Fort now
I absolutely LOVE this!!! I felt like I was reliving the movie right along with you! Thanks you so much for putting this onto youtube!!!
Thanks Ida! Blessings to you as well.
The comment from this person was everything I wanted to say they said it perfectly of how I wanted to say it to you matt and ashley..
Well done!! Everything!! And congratulations on your marriage ❤

Matt and Ashley through your video I felt like I was there!

You are amazing. This is my all time favorite movie. Thank you and your wife.
James Harp ss
Go there every year. Loved this

Gail Kolcz Thanks so much. glad you enjoyed it! the movie is something special.
I’m here four years later with another rave review of your video. Haunting music and story.
As someone who also loved 'Somewhere in Time', I absolutely love this video. I so want to thank you, Matt, for making this video. I can't exactly explain but your video took me to the same feelings I had when I first watched Somewhere In Time. Loved it.

Great job Matt, I especially liked your editing skills. I've been an editor for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation for over 30 years and I recognise great editing whenever I see it, and you sir are a great editor. thanks for sharing.
Great movie, great actors, great music.
A movie so inspiring to love with the whole heart!!!
I love it!!!
Chris was so great in this movie and so does everyone!!!
Incredible Work. Thank you, Matt for taking us back in time.
Thank you.
My tears are flowing throughout the viewing period 😭😔
Thank you Matt.
thank you....this place did not change too much....for 40 years....really somewhere in time....what a feeling
Excellent parallel to the real movie🌟 Wonderful job done with the heart. You and your wife are so sweet. Love to you both💗💗
What a great job! For one of the best films ever. Thank you
Thank you for your videos, Really enjoyed your presentation of the Somewhere in Time locations etc and the superb way in which you morphed the movie with the present day, together with clips, and of course that beautiful music.
Awesome!
Thank you for an enjoyable and emotional trip back to 'Somewhere in Time'
Nice coment.
Thanks.
I'm crying here. It's the mixture of the music and love story. It kills me. And to think they really were in love....❤❤❤❤❤❤ I wish I lived in America to go to your conventions. I probably cry all the way through. Thank you....❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I must see this movie, now that I have been teased with bits and pieces! It sounds a bit sad & haunting, the music is so beautiful. 🎶🎵
Thank You very much for this video!! Lot of hard work for you.. appreciate it !!!
Thank you for taking us back “Some Where In Time.” Makes one believe in true love. I cry every time I see this and hear the music. 👏❤️
I'm only 8 minutes into the video, I've not seen part 1 yet but had to stop to post a comment. Thank you so much for taking the time, making the huge effort and sharing all these wonderful images from one of my most beloved movies!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for this wonderful video. You made my day happier.
I so very much enjoyed your video, Matt! Thank you for the wonderful tour done with such finesse. You are an artist, my friend.
Bravo👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕💕💕💕😭😭😭☺️so well done. Obviously a work of love.
