This was great! I was a Production Assistant and extra in "Somewhere In Time" (still have my crew bicycle license plate #48 hanging on the wall) and had the supreme honour to be standing there on set on the beach the day they filmed the "Is It You?" scene. Great memories - good interweaving of your footage and the film.
I am part of the brazil fan club, I think it was awesome you were there, I was a child in NJ when it came out, I am forty, and now have a coffee chain in brazil, but still watch it.
I am in Bahia, a huge state about 950 miles from the state of Rio, and the city of Rio of the same name, no jewelry, no wallet, keep cash spending money in your front pocket, no watch, or keep a cheap watch in your front pocket, you will love Brazil, everyone does, it has a over a ninety percent rating by tourists, My state will have a ton of torists who will visit the Olympics then rent a beach house in Bahia. We Bahia are north of Rio and have a shoreline and perfect weather year round. A little commercial for the State of Bahia. But maybe some youtubers are unaware and may go through life without visiting Brazil.
My parents went here to celebrate their 50th anniversary as it was my dad’s favorite movie. My sisters and I were there and it was amazing. He passed away July 21, 2022 and we added the music from this movie to his service.
i graduated in 1982. me and a couple of friends went to the island, a couple of yeares after the movie came out. i've always wished that i was there when they filmed the movie. i've been going to the island for 20+ years now. just love the slower pace.
I absolutely love this movie Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour did such a beautiful job acting. One of my favorites. Thank you for taking the time and filming this.
Thank You! And Ill correct myself sense I called him Christopher "Reeves" in thia video, its actually Reeve. Also I made another somewhere in time video with more locations and a better camera if you're interested. :-)
No,no,no & NOOOOO!! I hate grey hair on her. Jane Fonda looks great with it. I guess Ive seen Somewhere In Time one too many times but I really dont like it. Back to Auburn Jane Pleeeease
I hv watched this movie over 60 times during the last 40 yrs and I still enjoy watching it very much! wish I can watch many more times in years to come!n
Tt1 Cheuk It's SO GOOD. I have another more in depth HD filming locations video coming up. I still need to edit it. but it should be up in a few weeks! stay tuned! :-)
Thanks Matt for sharing this with us die hard romantics....I loved this movie so much...my favourite Chris Reeve movie...always makes me cry...must be such a beautiful place to visit....have a great day!
One of the most romantic films of all time.....❤💏🕰🎬🎼 Somewhere In Time. Christopher Reeves & Jane Seymour, they truly made this film moving with their on screen chemistry. When I think of this film a poem by the British poet Alfred Lord Tennyson, published in 1850 comes to mind......I quote " I hold it true, whate'er befall, I feel it when I sorrow most, 'Tis better to have loved and lost. Than never to have loved at all. I truly wish they had made more films like this for the romantics out here!! ❤😊🎻🎬🎼📜✍
My absolute favorite movie. I took a bus tour trip with my Mom and we visited Mackinac Island so that I could visit the Grand Hotel and see each spot that I remember from the film. I was in seventh heaven. We even had lunch in the dining room. I do remember that the production company presented the hotel with the music box of the Grand Hotel and it was in the lobby under a glass case.
Thank you for sharing this video. This movie was so beautiful. Jane Seymour was an amazing actress and so was Christopher Reeves. They were the best! May He Rest In Peace!
Probably my most favourite movie ever. I first heard the theme music long before I saw the movie and I very quickly proclaimed it to be my most favourite music in the whole world and it still is today. When watching the movie for the first time and hearing Christopher Reeve say it was his most favourite music in the whole world, I cried. My heart swells with emotion whenever I hear this played. The movie its self is breathtaking and I sincerely hope the day will come when I will have the opportunity (before I die) to visit The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island and stay as a guest and see everything I love about the movie. Thank you deeply for this video, I love this so much I have shared it with all my friends on face book. My love to you for this.
I have been there in 2008 and it's so touching to be able to visit the island. It's one of my favorite movie of all time. I plan on buying the blu ray version this year when it is release.
I love this! I am going for the first time in October. It's one of mine, my mom & sisters favorite movies of all time. They have since passed, and the movies theme song was played at my mom's funeral, so it holds sentimental value for me. I can't wait to actually be there and see it in person! I'm sure I will be bawling like a baby when I do though.
No cars allowed on the island- bikes and horses only! Those of us who know Mackinac always laugh that Richard just stumbles upon the Grand when driving and stops on a whim! The book was set at the Del Coronado in CA.
Thanks for posting this video! I loved the movie and music so much that I used the main song from the sound track in my wedding (as I walked down the isle with my father). Such a moving instrumental. I didn't rehearse with it so I didn't know when to start walking, butt when the music began, I told my dad to wait...then suddenly I recalled that the volume would intensify....and like magic, we started walking as if on queue.
Wish I could go back to 1958 ... we were so much in love, and no money to visit the Grand Hotel, but it didn't matter, we stayed off island, in a campground. And as all great romances, there was no happy ending... As they say And we will always have Mackinac Island...
Hi, it's the second time I've seen this video. I'm a fan of the movie and I never tire of watching it... thank you for sharing your video in the place where it was filmed... a big greeting from Argentina 😘🇦🇷
Thanks for taking the time to promote this great movie. I think a lot of people really Miss the True Message of the film. And that is the Power of Manifesting Ones Dreams and Wishes. I have been studying a lot of Deep Sprituality and have Come to the Realization that Ones Thoughts Manifest Ones Own Reality. So Despair, Fear and Lack Manifest More Despair, Fear, and Lack. Where As Positive Thoughts of Wealth and Prosperity and Love will Manifest that to One. All Faith Based Mind You. One must Water the Seeds One Plants with Positive Thoughts Daily and Eventually One’s Desires Shall Come to Past. That is what happened in this Movie. He believed he could go back in time with Thoughts and his desire was Strong and he Manifested It. It doesn’t matter what you want, just throw it out to the Universe and let it be. Like Casting out a Fishing Line. Don’t ask, Who, What, When, Where, Why, or How. Just be Happy that your order has been placed and that God Will Fill the Bill. If you Mope about wondering when then that shows lack of Faith and No Manifestation!
My parents worked there for 12 years during their summers She was a school teacher so she worked as a waitress at the famous The Island House . My dad was a caretaker of the horses & drove a carriage to the Grand Hotel & other places. I have pictures from the late 20’s & early 30’s! My childhood was spent going to The Island every year in the summers. It’s a very special place for me & I saw it before all the present day charges & limited entrances, when there were fewer people. It used to be for affluent people to vacation. I have a whole album of pictures of my family from that time period. I treasure it like gold! A movie & music that always brings me to tears!
A brilliant video! I was lucky enough to have visited Macinac in 1991. I love everything about the film and am going to watch it on Netflix this afternoon! Thanks for all the behind the scenes info, loved it! Jenny, England
From the Philippines here, but I would love to visit Mackinac Island one day! We used to have the "Somewhere In Time" vinyl record of its soundtrack. I guess I'll check the attic if it's still there.
MissGarland1986 Thanks! I hooe youve seen my new version of the filming locations. I went back with a better camera and documented alot more locations to the film!
MattsRadShow Not has a chance to view the newer video yet but I definitely will. I wish he was still alive today and was himself before the accident, then how awesome would it have been if he was the tour host of the set of his own film. That, I would fly from Scotland and see it.
Excellent video! Absolutely love this movie; right up there with Gone with the Wind! Christopher Reeve's best performance (although Superman was awesome too) IMO. Appreciated your droplets of humor throughout; made me laugh!
Somewhere in time must be the love story of all age's, like others I have watched it over and over, regardless of other choices. This love story touches the soul and gives heart to those down the ages, truly in love. There is of course for all of us, that special moment, that is hidden in the mists of the ages, as they say, Somewhere In Time. Sleep warm and REMEMBER. Clive
Wonderful Matt, congrats!!! great great!!! I loved that movie and so beautiful places, no words to express how much I liked your video. Best wishes from Peru!
It's amazing to see the Tree where Richard found Elise still looks the same as it was in the movie after 35 years. I love this movie so much. I wish I can go there someday.
I love this island. I sailed there twice in the late 70s with my family. We road to the Grand Hotel on a horse drawn carriage, of course. Actually went inside and saw the memorabilia of Esther Williams, swimmer/actress, of her film there. One summer evening the crew wives were entertained on the front porch as we waited for the sailboats arrival from the Chicago to Mac Race. In the early 80s, in Chico, California, my son and nephew surprised me with the film, and I almost fainted when I saw the Grand Hotel in it. Of course, it's my very favorite love story and film. It was very exciting. So, in 1990 I just had to use the beautiful music from the film "Somewhere in Time" for my wedding. I can't forget to tell you that if you visit there, you will not only be blessed by the enormous beautiful hotel, but the delicious Fudge. I hope you don't miss it. God bless.
Loooved this video. Brought some tears. This is still my favorite movie. Just hearing the music makes me cry. Never been to the island. I would love to go. Thank you for doing this. You did an amazing job. Never knew Christopher reeve never saw her picture beforehand or they took off in his plane. They were rebels. 😂
Chelsea Harp Yeah its a great movie. Make sure you watch my second "Somewhere In Time filming locations, Come back to me" video. Did way more locations and its high def. ;-) Thanks for watching!
Hi Matt, thank you for posting the nice video! I am a big fan of the movie (and music), since the first time I saw it, many years ago. Last year we stayed three nights at the Grand Hotel. It was an amazing experience visiting the places seen in the film. It was a long journey, Brazil-Chicago-Detroit-Pellston by plane, then by car to Mackinaw City, then ferry-boat to Mackinac Island and finally by chariot to the Grand Hotel. Those days at Mackinac Island and Grand Hotel was a dream come true. Thank you!
My friend, Cathy, just came back from a bus tour to Macinac Island. With Bayouland Tours out of Houma, LA. They spent one night at the Grand Hotel. She showed me pictures of the room she stayed in. Wow.
Thank you for these videos you have made about Somewhere in Time filming locations. I love this movie and it's one of those that I know where I was the first time I saw it. Keep up the great work.
thanks bro for this accolade of such a wonderful film. I saw this as a child and can't begin to tell you how this movie place and music has left such a mark till this day... kudos sir thank you for your time
This was enjoyable! Just got back from there a month ago (yes I am a fanatic) and had a moment myself sitting on the spot that Richard sat on the Grand Hotel front porch. Got addicted to this movie and went there in 1984 and there was NO memorabilia. Now its even on their tourism map. Loved your posting here!
Thank you for this video, the info on the movie. Saw this movie many & many years ago.. Was so fond, got the video, vhs.. Sad to say, Christopher Reed has passed & saw in another video, 'the lovely Jane Seymour.. Yes, yes.. Both so talented, & Perfect for their parts.. Yesterday, on You Tube, saw who the person that inspired the movie.. Long story short, Really appreciate this, thank you so much..
MattsRad, Thank you so much for sharing your information!! I enjoyed it. I am taking my mom there for her 85th birthday since it her all time favorite movie. We are coming from Texas, so it is quite a treat!!
OK, know you've really made me weep -- SIT was so incredibly beautifully romantic. Thank you for juxtaposing scenes from the film with sights where they were shot on Mackinac Island.
WOW!!! Matt you are so awsome and funny. I love this video, it was great to watch and it brought back alot of memories for when I was there in 2014. Although those memories are there everyday with me. It actually brought tears to my eyes because I truely love the island. I will be going again this year, in July and October. I can't stay away. Please post more videos of the island if and when you go again. There just can't be enough videos to watch. Thanks again.
+Marla Hensley Thanks Marla. Yes i'm a BIG fan of the Island too! Been going there since I was a kid! Hope you saw my "Mackinaw Island" Island of Adventure video too! Thanks for watching and your encouragement! have fun when you go back! ruclips.net/video/QXxvSkOlaog/видео.html
Matt this is a truly superb video!! My favourite romantic movie of all time, I watch it frequently and have listened to the sound track every bedtime for the past 20 years, it's almost a hypnotic ritual for me now. I would love somehow, someway to visit this hotel and it's grounds. Matt, London, UK
I am fortunate enough to live in Michigan, and have been on the Island many times. If you ever get a chance do go. If you go during Lilac Festival you are in for a real treat.
I have been there once and absolutely loved it. I went there because of this movie. I would like to go again, when is the best time to go? Is there ever a time when the water gets warm?
@@ab1309 Amy, I agree it's a wonderful trip to Macinac Island and The Grand. Late June, through August is the best time to go and enjoy the gorgeous island and water. We have been several times. Fourth of July weekend is such a festive time. Did you get to try the fudge?
It's a beautiful Island was there 4th of July 1996 and was cold in the evening. If your going pack some warm clothes we had no clue it would get that cold in the middle of Summer!
I hate and love this movie at the same time. Hate it because of the coin. Damn you coin, made me shed my tears. Love this movie, personally this movie is way better than any romantic movie that has been produced till now except Casablanca.
When I lived in Michigan we went to the Grand Hotel. On Macinac Island ( pronounced Mackinaw) no cars were permitted.Only horses. An exception was made for them filming of this movie.I adore his movie but I don't watch it as often as I might becuase the ending tears me up.
Queen Bee 666 singh No problem! Glad you enjoyed it. I did an updated version with alot more locations and a better camera. make sure you check that out too!
cobr3n Cool! I just did another location movie for Somewhere in Time. found alot more locations. you should check it out. ruclips.net/video/NrZPALNW_UY/видео.html

She was a Bond girl.

its amazing that nothing changes over 30 years, watched the movie yesterday
I love this! I am going for the first time in October. It's one of mine, my mom & sisters favorite movies of all time. They have since passed, and the movies theme song was played at my mom's funeral, so it holds sentimental value for me. I can't wait to actually be there and see it in person! Fab video, love the film, and Jane seymor was absolutely stunning, as she still is!
The best movie ever ,loved it
I love this movie so much... Touch my heart.. And also the theme song....

Thanks Nick, yeah the music is hauntingly beautiful. Hope you get a chance to visit someday!
Thank you. I’d love to see the inside of the Grand Hotel… I’ll look around your channel. I’ve subscribed. Lovely tour. One of my favorite movies.
Thank You for filming & sharing this with us Matt.

Amy, I agree it's a wonderful trip to Macinac Island and The Grand. Late June, through August is the best time to go and enjoy the gorgeous island and water. We have been several times. Fourth of July weekend is such a festive time. Did you get to try the fudge?
@@lauraphillips8593 yes, I love the fudge
thank you for showing us a video, ill never have the chance to go there so thank you matt
Thank you Matt!! Beautiful job you did!!
