This is a video of me writing rap lyrics from scratch while explaining a bit about my creative process. Made with the help of some beats I purchased from jeejuh.com.
    "With your love shower us
Cause these dark forces will devour us
We are the youth who need proof
So if you speak the truth you empower us!"
    Let me know your thoughts!

    1) Get a beat
    2) Gibberish writing/paint a mental picture
    3) Rhyme words together/find synonyms
    4) Put words together/make a verse?
    5) Test verse with beat
    6) Edit verse?
    7) Gibberish writing again
    8) Test again
    9) Repeat from step 2

      10) add lyrics about selling or doing as much drug's as humanly possibly
      11) Mention the military weapons that you don't have and brag about it like you have a bunker full of them.

People just keep writing rhymes all time till it comes naturally you will build up a vocabulary. Treasure them hard rhymes. As time passes you're head will fill with rhymes and bars, it's especially handy when free styling because you will have bars you can use when you can't think of anything. Practice, motivation and passion will bring your inner MC out.

    • @TheRefiper
      @TheRefiper 7 лет назад +94

Karim you aint gotta make a video for this. you can answer this in 2 words. rhyme dictionary. plenty of them online just google it homie. and honestly dont worry about rhyming till you have a vocabulary that's worth a damn. plenty of rappers have picked a dictionary up and just read that shit like a book. gotta git that grind

    • @dicegame101
      @dicegame101 6 лет назад +46

The same way you learn anything. Practice. The brain trains itself to be better at what you do on a regular basis. Make list of words that rhyme then write and freestlye with them. If you are worried about not making sense don't worry about it. The brain also has a need to make sense when talking so after a (long) while of doing that you will start to make concepts that make sense.

Well there are some exercises that can be done to increase rhyme vocabulary. Reading and using a dictionary or rhymezone.com are also fantastic resources. I've been super busy in life but am excited to share some of the exercises I've done that help. I also agree that practice is key.

I’ve been locked up a long time and been rappin a-cappella since 2002 and realizing all my dope a$$ lyrics aren’t fitting into beats. I was in a studio last night, im thinking about condensing my Songs to fit in the beat, but I’m also Rhythmically challenged and playing rhythm phone games, bought a shaker egg, and thinking of taking an introduction into music at college. People that say rappin is easy that never created nothing got their head so far up their a$$, but I digress; good video

I know how to write and everything but I don’t like my rap voice, my normal voice is fine and everything but when I try to rap it just doesn’t sound good imo. I know how to control my breathing and everything but I don’t know how to control how my voice sounds if that makes sense

    • @KarimRushdy
      @KarimRushdy  6 лет назад +21

Narmy of Narnopes yup I totally get that. I think we are all on a journey to find our voice. One thing that has helped me is actually by doing impersonations. Try to speak like Kermit the frog, matching his intonation and cadence. Then try another distinct voice and so on...this is not only fun and can potentially provide hours of entertainment for you and your family/friends but it helps build the capacity to control how your voice 'sounds' which in turn helps advance on that journey towards finding your own unique voice.

This is awesome thanks for sharing some of your creative process! I've been writing/rapping for a few years on and off, but certainly consider myself an amateur still. I've basically taught myself everything so far, just using my favourite hip hop as a guide I suppose. For some stupid reason I've never thought to search for tips or gather insight into how other rappers approach their writing until just now!
Your video is exactly what I've been searching for, something practical that actually focuses on thought process, and runs through things in more detail - not just general tips and tricks.
One thing I found interesting is that we a very similar way of doing things, I always doubted myself and often wondered if I'm doing it all wrong. So it helps to see that someone else working in a similar way.
I find often myself doing that mumble/freestyle rap, essentially focused on the flow to the beat (except usually I do it in my head) whenever I first hear a beat I feel. I've always thought of it as silly and pointless, and never properly understood how useful it is. That freestyle flow is always hot but then when I write I get lost in lyrics and the flow usually ends up totally different, boring, and repetitive haha. Definitely going to pay more attention to that from now on thanks to your video!
One last thing, could you kindly share more details about the beat at 2:25 with the nice little head nodding vibe :D

Aye man this helped so much!! i was in the writers block, but just as i finished watching this video, i tried your method, and it worked like crazy! The only difference was that instead of plain gibberesh, I kept a theme for whatever I was spitting (wrote about my writers block) Here is the thing which I wrote, its really spontaneous and I didn't edit it much, but here are the results which I got
Surrounded by a huge heap of crumbled papers
    Got roughly a hundred haters
But I don't stand up for myself and fight
Cus everything they talk bout me is justified
Drowned w self doubt in this sea,
    Along with the other MC's
Who spit fire with such ease,
Make me look like a fool
I'm worse than the guy who raps in his bathroom
Seein others, they got bars as if t was a blessing
Working hard, no results, this thing is depressing
    Still wakin up optimistic,
Take the pen sayin I'll put my all in this bitch
I hope i'll see, the light, I'm tired now of even living bruh
I don't even wanna breathe, I'm giving up
Cryin at night, cus I couldn't find, a good punchline
To complete a verse, seems only in my dreams,
    that I'll succeed

Gibberish is one way. Creating punchlines and trying to connect them is another way. Freestyling is essential and its even better if you do it around other rappers because competition brings an edge

Can you explain the gibberish rapping of the cadence and tempo that you did in this vid?

    • @KarimRushdy
      @KarimRushdy  6 лет назад +4

magna dinosaurum qui RAPTUM hey so the cadence of my voice usually follows the chord progression of the song. I didn't think it did but it does most of the time and the tempo has to be locked into the tempo of the music. It can go double time or half time or normal speed and nothing else.

To make it simple just say whatever thats on your mind it doesn’t have to rhyme just say words that fit the beat once you find the the cadence replace the cadence with actual verses

I make my raps by going on thinking of a subject and once I dont know what to write search the last word you used in a rhyming website and find the word that makes sense with what your writing and add your own words

    I find myself daydreaming often
Lost in my thoughts of how to solve the problem
One things for sure intoxications not an option
Lessons taught and learned from taking losses
I'm making progress in the process of carrying the cross, yes.
Pay a pretty penny for the garments
    Crest across my heart
    Materilism drives a hard bargain
I've racked up thousands in credit card charges
Developed an obession for incessant shopping
I dress well but left hella spiritually starvin'
Ridiculous I'm pitifully trying to heal my wounded heart
I'm flawed and awkward my mental scars
Cause me to feel withdrawn, bizarre and
    seldom talkative
Im compelled to face each obstacle and conquer it
Run the gamut armed with my infinity gaunlet
    Conceit is for the weak
the strong all have one thing in common and that's confidence
I like to think i'm quite unique
But the truth be told i'm far from it
These tarnished words are just the garbage that's heaped underneath the rubbish
I put more love into the prayers that i say to God whose high above us
