Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing a book from Rodrick's perspective. One where he explains how dysfunctional his family is and how his family compares to others. Well, something like that.
This family is the farthest from normal I’ve possibly ever seen. Insane how Rodrick is the most normal character when in reality the book wants everyone to think he's the bad guy. Let's be fr, we all loved Greg when we were young but now growing up you can see that it's a complete 180.
I think the book portrays Rodrick as the villain to distract the kids reading it from just how bad the parents are. Everyone know Greg and Manny are horrible
Honestly, in my opinion, calling Greg a sociopath is going a bit far. He’s a middle schooler. Not just any middle schooler, a middle school boy; of which the majority exhibit behaviors that can be mistaken for sociopathy. As for his parents and little brother, yeah they suck. Though Frank being protective of his stuff is understandable given how expensive miniatures can get… TL;DR Greg isn’t sociopathic, he’s just your average middle school jerk
I must admit, I felt the same back in the day. Those glasses? I'd have gone for those to look around at all the girΙs in all the schools. Whilst I did actually get quite close to quite a few girIs back in those times, it never really went anywhere, and I was still a Greg on the inside.

The fact that Rodrick is the normal person in the family was one of the reasons why I had a big ass crush on him in elementary school. Greg has a shit ton of red flags like the rest of the family
Even when I was a younger kid I always thought that Greg was a sociopathic brat. I remember reading the books and reading how Greg literally broke Rowleys arm and then got mad when all the girls wanted to make sure he was okay. Was this seen as normal middle school boy behavior??

It’s all just for humor, bruh. I kid you not, I sometimes tell my gen X dad “In Diary of a Wimpy Kid…” and then tell him about a funny moment in the books. To that, I thank Jeff for all the material. One time, I told my dad about the Manny hot dog thing and he cracked up.
the whole family sucks except for rodrick

Manny is definitely the worst
Agreed
In general, not really. Rodrick is still quite a pain in the neck. He just isn't as bad as his other family members. He definitely deserves better than this unhinged family though.

As a model painter I can understand why frank doesn’t want anyone near the models for his civil war diorama as models can be pretty fragile and really expensive to buy
Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing a book from Rodrick's perspective. One where he explains how dysfunctional his family is and how his family compares to others. Well, something like that.
I would love
I am 16 and I still read Diary of a Wimpy Kid when new books come out.

This family is the farthest from normal I’ve possibly ever seen. Insane how Rodrick is the most normal character when in reality the book wants everyone to think he's the bad guy. Let's be fr, we all loved Greg when we were young but now growing up you can see that it's a complete 180.
13:31 he knew rodrick got old papers but he realized it was meant to be typed up not written which was what rodrick gave him later
also ion think it was for him to read infront of the class
I think the book portrays Rodrick as the villain to distract the kids reading it from just how bad the parents are. Everyone know Greg and Manny are horrible
hold up i literally saw you in an emswizzle community tab comment section not even 20 minutes ago, like do we just watch the exact same youtubers 💀
Though Frank being protective of his stuff is understandable given how expensive miniatures can get…
TL;DR Greg isn’t sociopathic, he’s just your average middle school jerk
I kinda was the same simp in mid school as well
I must admit, I felt the same back in the day. Those glasses? I'd have gone for those to look around at all the girΙs in all the schools. Whilst I did actually get quite close to quite a few girIs back in those times, it never really went anywhere, and I was still a Greg on the inside.
I wouldn't say that he's an exaggerated middle schooler but still not a sociopath.
This is why rodrick is my favourite DOAWK charecter
Manny could literally start World War III and he still wouldn’t get punished
Manny: Sends secret FBI info to Russia and China
Also Manny: I’m only thwee
Fr zawg
Susan: selfish Karen
Frank: deadbeat man-child
Greg: Narcissistic sociopath
Manny: being taught to be a sociopath
Rowley: never taught to grow up by his parents, emotionally stunted.
Rodrick: a normal teenager
Manny is more of a psychopath, he was probably BORN like this
Frank is actually just so controlled that he is going insane
You mean a braindead teenager who loves to hurt his brother.
1:17 "I didnt cheat"

You should do a tier list on the characters from Diary of a Wimpy Kid

I just realized Susan Heffley acts quite similar to my little brother’s bio dad’s adopted mom. This little brother was a baby I got pregnant with in high school and my parents were kind enough to adopt him and raise him as their own. But yeah his biological paternal adoptive grandmother is so similar to Susan Heffley it’s crazy to think about.

can we just give credit to the author of being able to make a family this bad but still a bestselling childrens book that people ENJOY reading?
Every DOAWK character’s problem:
Frank - Abusive
Susan - Karen
Greg - Simp
Manny - Spoiled Brat
Rowley - Treated like a baby
Rodrick is the only normal person, he is just a normal teenager.

When I was a kid, I assumed Rodrick was the worst. But now I realize he's the most normal
The fact that Rodrick is the normal person in the family was one of the reasons why I had a big ass crush on him in elementary school. Greg has a shit ton of red flags like the rest of the family
Hopefully Rodrick is able to move out. He definitely gives the vibes that he won't talk to his family after moving out.
Bros the best channeel for relaxing
Even when I was a younger kid I always thought that Greg was a sociopathic brat. I remember reading the books and reading how Greg literally broke Rowleys arm and then got mad when all the girls wanted to make sure he was okay. Was this seen as normal middle school boy behavior??
Rodrick is literally the only normal one in the family
2:18 i actually did use a car when i was 3 and it was like this: i was a 3 year old little baby and i was sitting in the backseat of my grandparents car(only me,my grandma and the driver aka my grandpa was there)and while my grandpa was driving i wanted to get on his lap and my grandpa let me sit on his lap then i attempted to drive the car and İ ALMOST CRASHED THE CAR but thankfully my grandma grabbed me,put me back into the backseat and nobody was hurt

Actually, Greg attempted to throw it away the moment Manny gave it to him and that’s when his mom made him not; after Rowley sat on it Greg threw it away but he felt like his mother wouldn’t argue now.
