well instead of cards....in kindergarten a first offence was your name is written on the board, second offence you get a check and loose 5 minutes of recess, third offence loose 10 minutes of recess, 4th offence is no recess and the teacher calls your parents, and if you got a 4th check your done you just go to the principles office...and in my elementary and early middle school years we had the worst iron fisted principles ever...I once got in trouble because my best friend gave me a slice of pizza!...I didn't even eat it I was to scared!....and just held it...I also got punished because this crazy ass recess chaperon told this dude to finish a fight that HE started by going In front of me on the swings to make it look like I was kicking him and then I went to him and he slapped me I GOT IN TROUBLE! for nothing!

I hated schol when I was 7th grade but I feel complete with it as an 11th grader lol, all teachers here are lovable... they can't slap me for givin' absurd examples when I get high in their class, can't give me a fail if I use their words used in a derogatory way in our language since I'm a high roller, well mostly can't slap me since all teachers here are like a friend, prefect of discipline is like a dad and not someone who wants robots so blame everythin' on yourself and schol, also blame it on how ya percieve things, I was called out for long hair so I told our previous prefect (she was known as the strict one but I saw her as misunderstood) that I have scissors and a comb so she can give me a cut if needed, I didn't get any punishment

At our school, we had a suspension punishment that was called After School Suspension. And when they started making posters about it, they would put abbreviations for it. So, A.S.S. is what it was. Many of the kids would say, "Why do I have to go to Ass?" They later would change it to S.A.S. (Suspension After School) and then later change the fact that it has no name, just suspension, because the kids would male new jokes about the S.A.S. abbreviation and refer to the old one.

There was an art teacher I had when I was in elementary school, and I was known as a really good kid, and I really respected and liked the art teacher.
I took the “good kids are seen and not heard” thing very seriously, not talking when a teacher was talking. But in his class, every other kid would talk the moment his back was turned.
So he would oftentimes teach us how to make something by going over to this one table, and we’d all gather around it, and he’d make it in front of us. He was very serious about how he wouldn’t show how to do it twice. But once, while the class was surrounding his table again, my friend and I were talking. Of course, other kids that talk a lot were also talking over him, but he looked up and saw me talking, and he probably thought, “oh no! If the good kid is talking over me, every other kid will also talk over me!” And he only told me to go to the Trouble Desk.
Every other kid was gaping at me, like “how could she get in trouble?” and I felt terrible while I walked over there. I started crying like a baby, but I was like, “hell nah! If this evil man sees me crying, he’ll know that he’s won!” So I tried to stop. But I was so angry and sad and felt despair that he was going to call my parents or that I’d be labeled a bad kid, and I just saw red. He comes over, gives me a lecture I can’t even hear because my ears are ringing and I’m lightheaded and everything is spinning left and right a little bit, but then he lowers himself to my level so he can really stare into my tearstained eyes, and says, “did you hear anything I just said? Repeat what I said.”
I give him the worst glare I didn’t even know I could make.
He makes me sit there for the rest of class while everyone else is doing clay, and then plays cartoons (which he never does unless someone is at the Trouble Desk) and reminds me I can’t turn around to watch it.
It’s really a testament to our school system that I still can remember it so clearly after all these years. Please, if any of y’all become teachers, don’t “make an example” out of the good kid who does something wrong once.
    Edit:
tl;dr: I was once a quiet good kid, but one time, I talked while everyone else was also being super loud, and the teacher picked on me specifically in order to set an example that he would punish anyone, even someone who doesn't make trouble a lot. Now I hate him, and the only thing he taught me was that being too good means you'll be forced to be perfect, and it's a lot more beneficial to not set the expectation that you listen to authority.

There was a punishment at school called an "environmental detention." Basically, you got a bag and you were forced to pick up rubbish on the ground. The bag was so big too for some reason, like it was half my size and you filled that to the brim in the 30 minute breaks they gave you (we got two 30-minute breaks instead of 1 big hour-long break). If you didn't fill that enough, you had to do it again. Half the time there wasn't even any gloves so you could protect yourself from germs.

@@LordBakon I just hid the bags somewhere really secret (I'm like the only person that's ever gone there) and then I re-used the bags. However, to avoid suspicion, I used to just pick up rubbish in front of their faces for like 2 minutes with a 90% full bag and then I used to get them to sign it. Sometimes I used to forge their signatures if I could (really rare cases)

I have never been to in-person school, but I had friends who have experienced long homework hours and my IRL friend had seen people get beaten up badly in school. The fact you get suspended for standing up for yourself, there's no reason to get suspended for that. And the grading system needs a redo now, 59% being the highest F is the most stupidest range of Fs I have ever seen, it should've been 30 or less. And they're trying to enforce useless information and somehow wonder why no one uses them in their jobs. I'm doing very badly at Algebra and I think I lost care for it ever since they got rid of the easy ways of revising grades except for "show your work", which the only thing I can see reason why is if you're cheating, but I think its best not to do that. School systems, I swear they're actually trying to get worse on purpose.

It happened pretty much every day. My mom looked at the handbook they give out. It does not say the teacher can do that. I wish I was joking but the english teacher was on the newspaper. once in my lunchtime i threw a single piece of corn at someone and it hit the back of their head. my teacher saw and said i was going to be on the fence for my whole playtime (we have a thing at my school where when we do something bad like talking, we’ll miss a specific amount of time on the fence. the fence is outside so we are literally forced to stare at the other children playing and we’re not even allowed to sit down or talk). she also said that the girl i hit could’ve got an ALLERGIC REACTION to that piece of corn. i literally knew that no one in our SCHOOL had an allergy to corn and even if they did i knew that a tiny piece of corn hitting them in the back of the head wouldn’t do anything. while i was on the fence i went to the toilet and when i came back i decided to stand next to my friend. I DIDN’T EVEN TALK but when my teacher saw me she said that i have to go to my original spot and i would be on the fence tomorrow.

5:14 ive been through this pain bro. Back in the 90s, (i was born on 1985) my dad took me on a "vacation" to morocco when i was 5, to learn some arabic, to learn that im a muslim, and to meet my grandparents. It was a lot harder. More homework. Harder problems. And the infamous tube. One time in 1st grade, (obviously in morocco) i wasnt really doing anything. But my teacher was a bitch. She told me to come up to the like, raised floor that her desk was on, and she just turned my hand into a tomato. They would even beat their feet! Luckily, thank god, i never had to endure this. And then in 5th grade, during december-january, i would sometimes hang out in the principals office. He let me stay there. I even watched a video at the secretary desk! Because there was nothing better to do. I ate lunch in class, alone, because the cafeteria smelled like trash, and like, just kinda hung around. I slept on the floor on the lobby observatory room, so yeah.
Bonus story!: in 5th grade too, i was hangin around in the lobby, when these 2 kids showed up. I saw they were doing something to the dry grass outside. I didnt think much. But there was a fire. Then it spread. I told the principal about it. Then a teacher from the kindergarten came and told him about it. Then the whole building came. Luckily they put out the fire and then i told them about the kids, and then the principal just took me to the observation room, and there was an extra room for cams. But unfortunateley we never caught them. Thank you for reading!

The writing punishment does more harm then good and leads to long term or even permanent negative consequences. In middle school there was a friend of mine in a different class who had to write I WIll NOT TALK OUT OF TURN 300 times. All because of something one kid did or if you don't turn in you assignments on time. And I had a teacher in high school who would make us look up 3 words on the dictionary and make us copy down evey single detail about the words which are very small words to see. And to this day. That school punishment is still 100% legal in all 50 states and the district of Columbia and must be banned asap.

At my school, there's a punishment teachers use in class where if some people are talking too much, they get moved to a random seat in the classroom so they're not sitting together. The problem is, when nobody was absent, they would have to swap places with someone else, which basically gives the same punishment to a random person the teacher chose, even though that person wasn't doing anything wrong. And sometimes when people got moved, they would end up sitting next to another one of their friends, making the punishment useless.
Another one is where if some people were talking, the teacher would make the whole class stay in for recess or lunch (if it was the period before the break), basically punishing the whole class for something someone else did. Even worse, some of the teachers were biased and only did it if boys were misbehaving, and almost never did anything when girls were doing the same thing. Once, a teacher even made all the boys stay in for lunch and let the girls go!

Last week my German teacher was in a bad mood and last time we had German class was like a month ago. And apparently we had homework for that day and half of the class forgot to bring it to school, because yeah, there’s much more than just German, no shit. Then, half of the class, including me, had to go outside the class and copy a paper called “How did I behave myself today?”. And it was a long ass text of how you should behave in class. Even tho we didn’t do anything bad, we still had to copy the paper. Even some nerds had to do it and they were sobbing like crazy. Anyways as we were copying that text, a kid from our class sat next to me and my friends and he just wouldn’t shut his ass up. Like he was literally telling us his entire roblox life story. After some time we got fed up and we told him so shut up and let us write the text. He then started hitting us for no reason. We couldn’t fight back, cuz yk, school rules. But he did have a beanie and I took it and threw it to my friend and we started playing catch with him trying to get it back. However after playing for a bit, he started throwing them hands on our faces. The thing is, both me and my friend wear glasses and we didn’t want them to get broken. So we gave him the beanie back and told him to let us write now. For some reason, he was trying to slap us the entire time. He is fat asf so it’s not hard to dodge his hands. After seeing what was up, one guy stood up and went to get a teacher without the fat guy noticing. Few minutes later he came back with our German teacher and she asked us what was going on. He started yapping about how we were hitting him and how we stole his beanie and stuff. Then literally everyone said that he was lying and then he and my friend got suspended for the day and I got detention, for no fvcking reason. Then I had to go through the entire process of trying to get my parents to believe me, which worked actually. I didn’t get grounded or anything and I didn’t even get detention yet. Cuz they need to get a teacher to look after me and no teacher wanna do it.
