Whenever I call my IT folks, I always feel guilty, like I should understand computers better and be able to solve problems on my own. But really, everyone has specialized knowledge in their own area, and no one can know everything.
Oh absolutely. I always feel like I know computers until I talk to an IT person who ACTUALLY knows computers. You don't know what you don't know until you meet someone who does, lol

What irks me personally is that RUclips relies on so many independent and highly authorized AI algorithms yet they don't have one that can actually detect and stop an obvious hack
I wouldn't call it an obvious hack. They managed to get past two factor authentication. Just because the location is different, account holder could be on holiday or using a VPN.
@@scottwallbank4794 A full scale unlisting/deleting of every video on the channel and a 24hr stream appearing + a channel name change all at the same time all in a different country isn't obvious? It’s while I don’t agree with them immediately ruling out the guy who showed up on the livestream. It could always be a cover, but I can see it being a revenge plot in attempt to take down the company that just fired you, while running away with the profit made from the damage. It may have just been an angry criminal who doesn’t know when to stop, and was seeking to take down the company he worked for with him.

How the hell did you get it back? Do you have local support in the US or something? RUclips basically told me "fuck you" and left me with nothing after 7 years of content, told me I was the reason I got cancelled (bogus reason, no appeal was able to filed).
It always strikes me as crazy all these channels pouring all their money, time, hopes and dreams into one company. RUclips doesn't give a §H|† about you, or anyone else. If any channel vanishes tomorrow, they won't lose a second of sleep. Smart creators diversify their revenue streams so if RUclips shuts them down, they can still operate.

As someone in IT Systems Security, this sounds eerily similar to some of the examples of breaches in our Incident Response class. An attacker getting into someone's personal device, pivoting through the shared network into a PC with admin access to certain resources, doing what they want, then erasing logs to cover up their steps. Glad the hacker was just some dumbshit crypto twat and they didn't have an interest in doing any real damage.

@@OTaxanO Finding a way to intercept or redirect a two factor would mean someone somehow accessed his phone and saw/guessed his Gmail password. Like a sketchy hotel could intentionally have a team to try and hack celebrities phones, and have hidden cameras to see your password, or he downloaded a sketchy app, used the same password for the app as his Gmail, which is a common mistake. I could go on but the key to not having this happen is. Do not trust any Wi-Fi you do not know unless you have a secure vpn, make sure no one is trying to spy your password in the era of drones and super cameras even high up windows from far away aren't safe, using smart long passwords, personally using an encryption key is best to avoid password spying/guessing, keeping account of your cell phone at all times, and just knowing who to trust.
This also happened to me once but I recovered the channel the next day. I downloaded a supposed Beta of a game that was not released on steam yet. and they were offering a very generous amount money to play it and show it on my RUclips video, and no longer than 2-3 hours my password was changed and all my videos hidden with a crypto scam stream playing on my channel. That fact that this is still happening is so frustrating. This problem has been rampant with small channels and a handful of big ones. @@agiliteka These scams are always obvious as fuck. Also how did nobody think to just immediately CALL RUclips? Jesus Christ this was such a dropped ball on their part it's absurd, and calling it getting hacked is misleading.
@@st0nedpenguin A lot of these RUclips channel scams are not very obvious, sometimes even using a compromised company email to make the scam email look more legit. You can take every precautions available, but at the end of the day if you're on the internet you're still gonna be vulnerable to hacks.
Scary thing about the most common "token in an app that changes every minute" 2FA is that it CAN still be brute forced. Really hope more companies switch to the Microsoft-style notification-based 2FA (which is still not completely airtight but at least there you 100% need access to the device instead of luck)
@@CiDK If only you could just look at the email headers, or mouse over links before clicking them.
It doesn't take 200 IQ to not fall for this shit.
The fact you made this into a documentary style of video makes this even better. Great job on keeping the morale up.
It would be a good first video if they didn't get the channel back at least
Good job guys, for pushing and continuing to find a solution, for the good of us subscribers and yourselfs.
I love how no one (seemed) to panic at all. Thats a sign of a good structured company who already has a protocol in place for this.
You only saw what they edited and uploaded.
@@eugenes9751 still you would see signs of distress, tears, etc if they were taken by panic. They knew what were the odds and how it were in their favor.
@@biazacha Again. EDITING.
I believe this is the most 'popular' hack thing right now. A similar thing happened to a much smaller channel and the hackers managed to get back into the channel through a google extension.
Google extension malware suck. You cant delete it meaning you have to quickly dig through your computer even in the deepest parts that you might of not even known existed to then try and find a suspicious application to stop the virus from installing itself. However you then need to get an anti malware or anything similair to than be able to delete the actual extension in the first place. I would know becaue its happened to me before :/
Nathaniel Bandy’s channel was also hacked a while back. It also suddenly was called MicroStrategy
They beat youtube moderation, that's a true accomplishment
Not too difficult because they get trending so often.
@@far22186 Same lol.
@@far22186
He does.
He has Mug Club up on The Blaze.
It's their primary source of income as YouTURD demonetized his channel yrs ago for no good reason.
No they didnt? They even said so themselves, it usually takes Google a few days to reinstate a channel. Which is exactly what happened. They didnt beat anybody, things just ran as they normally do.
Glad everything worked out. My son and I love your channel
To everyone who reached out, THANK YOU. So happy we are back!
This sucks. My Activision account got hacked over a year ago and I still haven't gotten it back. I know it's not as bad, but it sucks you can never speak to an actual person for most of these problems. Glad you guys got it back.
When this happened, I actually thought MY account was hacked because the moment I clicked on the CorridorCrew notification, first thing I saw was that dude's livestream. I immediately changed my Google password. Thank goodness you got your channel back, you guys worked so hard for this!
Same.
Thanks Mark. That intern definitely messed with your stuff 🙄🙄
Wha happen?!!!?
@@stinkystinkypoopystinkypeepee I read that in marks voice ngl
@@ChanceCass i gotta say it's an honor
I guess they chose to ignore the "professional hacker" on his resume...
LOL
I never heard of you guys before this video. Glad you guys got everything back and secured.
Really happy that you guys got everything taken care of. Love watching your channel!
Love you guys. Turned a terrible situation into an ad for your site. Love the hustle!!!
It was reassuring to see that the title was momentarily changed to "Hi, we're hackers and we took over the Corridor Channel because we suck". A sign that the Crew was at least partially in control, and also that they were still being positive and humorous through this.
I'm so sorry this happened and I'm glad that you guys are ok now.
I love what you guys do, it's just a damn shame that people feel that they have to hack someones channel to validate their self worth, glad to see you guys back up and running RUclips wouldn't be the same without you fellas.
Im so glad this channel survived. It’s my go-to happy time
Dang. I haven’t been watching for a bit due to work. It’s been about 2 weeks since then. I’m happy y’all have it back. I love learning from you and love your vids.
Hard to hear that you've went through tougher time. And I'm happy you came through and happy to have you back. Wishing you many more good years of Corridor Crew. All the best
The storytelling in this is inspiring. Good to see the Crew back!
Best company attitude ever. Took the situation and handled it, calm and collected. And made jokes about it that is just amazing
WOW! That had to be terrifying! Glad you guys made it back!
Jeeesus. I was wondering why there was no react this weekend but I never thought to check what happened. So glad you guys didn't lose your stuff. Now I don't like seeing people get hurt but in this case...let's just say I hope karma comes around with an appropriate response.
Same, I did not see the weekend recommended or suggested as usual and just thought "I'll search the channel later" but forgot about it.
This might be one of the few times i actually belieave that someone has actually been "Hacked". Most the time people say theyve been hacked, they just caused it themself.
I can't imagine the stress you guys must've been feeling while it was all going down. I'm glad to hear it's over now!
it would have been a big loss for YT is CC was gone. Great to still have you guys!
The storytelling on this video was magnificent. Shout out to the editors, y’all keep killing it
Power to you guys for still publishing videos even though this was all going down. A true testament to your loyalty to your views. We appreciate you all and the work you put in. I hope your able to secure everything down and get back to normality
I'm really glad you guys managed to get everything back on track!
Fuck those hackers
And now LinusTechTips has joined the "Channel got Hacked" club.
Both those hacks occurred through 2 steps verification.
Glad you guys were able to get the channel back! Things like this are very scary!
Lol, love all your positive attitudes about the whole thing. Pretty scary experience, but great job getting it all under control!
thank you for sharing this tragic battle with us so people know how to better protect their own channels and how to handle it when if it happens to others. glad you guys got it back!
I would subscribe 10x on the site if I could. Glad to see the RUclips is back up though
Thanks for sharing this experience, Corridor Crew. After something like this, one's view of security is never the same. Glad y'all are back up and running. 🙂
Reminds me of when Linus' server crashed and burned - glad your back - one of the best channels on YT
Was that also caused by negligence?
Love you guys! Keep up the hard work!
I am happy, u guys got your channel back!!!!
i didn't even realize you had been hacked... so glad you guys recovered everything...
but yeah this just shows how much you need to do a security review at least once in awhile...
I'm glad you're back. Security is hard and this is a good lesson for everyone watching to learn from. Remember, "if it's smart, it's vulnerable."
i know this is a old video but its cool that you guys recovered. Corridor and Film Riot is what got me into film/audio production
I honestly didn't realise how much you've shaped my weekends until this happened. I'm glad you're back.
I have to say, this hack couldn't of been more perfect for you guys to promote the corridor crew website as a whole, for you to show us that we will never be in the dark when it comes to the content you guys produce.
I was so worried! Saturday is my last workday of the week and I always watch the React videos to decompress. When it wasn't there last Saturday I was freaking out!
Great video! Damn this sucks that this happened to you!
Welcome back guys 😌
