    I am building a boat and starting to outfit it with equipment. You mentioned This fish finder can connect to various other equipment, but does it connect to a VHF radio for the GPS function? I am looking at the Icom 330 which has NMEA 0183. Can that hook up to a Humminbird? I think my Humminbird is NMEA 2000. I have the gen 4 Helix 10. I cant seem to find that info.

    • @HumminbirdHelp
      @HumminbirdHelp  2 года назад

      Mainly the helix 5s are not networkable is the main thing. Not much difference other than that with the chirp sonar units. The helix 5 si and di units come with a lower resolution transducer that isn't as clear as the bigger helix units.

    • @HumminbirdHelp

      First you have to make sure everything is networked together via ethernet 5 port junction box or Bluetooth and then if you hit the menu button twice scroll all the way to the right and you will have a menu eith all of the network options in there. I don't have an ulterra but I can make a video with the process I took with my helix units and terrova

    • @HumminbirdHelp
      @HumminbirdHelp  3 года назад

      Sounds like the transducer is mounted on the left side of the motor and the motor is interfering with the pinging. Try tilting your motor up and see if that clears the side imaging picture up. Anything mounted to the left or right of the transducer can Interfere with the reading

    • @HumminbirdHelp
      @HumminbirdHelp  3 года назад

      It def could be from the transducer not being level. The best thing to try is to put all your body weight on the opposite side and see if the picture changes on the right.

To the manufacture, too much bullshit need to make them more simple people that work for a living 40 to 50 hours a week don’t have time to take a cold education to learn how to use all these electronics life is too short, if we’re lucky in Pennsylvania we can fish 5 to 10 times without freezing on our boats and you really have to play with these fish finders, it takes a few years to get used to them if you’re a working man. Seriously thinking Maybe I should just be be a bum off the government and go on unemployment and get paid not to work and fish the rest of my life and hibernate in the winter. And then I’ll be a helix seven pro!
