This video will give you several tips on how to make your time more efficient on the water and maximizing the capabilities of your Helix unit.

In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Thank for taking the time to explain settings. I have a question about best settings and hertz for 2D sonar and how do you know which Transducer you have. I have a hummingbird helix 9 G3 SI / DI and a helix down imaging only built in min kota trolling motor transducer in the front.
I would like a video on how to set way points.

Go to your chart screen and you can follow your trail.
Put a waypoint where you launched.

Hi John, great video, thanks! Is there a way to make a kind of an image of your basic settings? So that you, after restoring factory defaults, can easily get back to your most basic settings, like sensitivity, contrast, time settings, view preferences (hidden/visible), etc? Instead of making a video of all your settings and go through all of the menus afterwards :-)
Yes you can take a screenshot by holding the mark button. I'll have to do a video on that!
Think about what you just ask. time ? sensitivity & contrast change all day on the water. There is really not many settings, You will learn real quick, does not take much time to set. Angler to custom is first & than just get to it.
I recently purchased a new used bass boat and it came with a 80lb Minn Kota Ultrex I-Pilot with remote (24volt). Hummingbird Helix 8 DI G3N at the console and Helix 9 SI G3N connected by Ethernet cable and on their own battery. The boat is in storage but I have my units at home connected to a rechargeable 12v battery. My Sonar tab doesn't show up in Normal/Custom mode. In your video, yours is?
It may not show up without a transducer connected. You can try restoring defaults or put it in simulator mode. Let me know if that works! Thanks for watching!

Hi Jeremy I am planning on buying a Helix 7 Mega Si G4N will I be ok with the transducer that comes with it or should I upgrade..Sorry new to all of this.Thanks in advance
No need to upgrade. That unit won't be able to shoot the mega+ frequencies from the more expensive transducers. If you want a little better down/side imaging and compatibility with mega live or mega 360 you would want to go with a 9" helix or bigger. I work for Russell Marine Products. Hi. I have my first boat and first graph, installed by a boat dealership. My Helix 10 MSI G4N runs off the trolling motor transducer. My Helix 8 MSI runs off the stern transducer. Both have 2.4 software. All the settings are identical. The 8 will mark fish, the 10 almost never. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help.
It would be really hard to diagnose without seeing it. Shoot an email to jon@russellmarineproducts.com with some pictures of your screen as well as your transducer.
Please tell me why I cannot see my shaded path as I am charting when using auto chart live. Software is updated and is gn4 unit. What screen do I go to after hitting record and what settings to get the shaded area each side of boat to show as I chart?
You will need to go to your auto chart tab and increase your AutoChart Transparency.
have an issue when I am out and have my forward unit on that when I turn on my aerator my forward sonor goes off. Is it a battery or voltage problem?
I would recommend running dedicated power. Check out the Russell Marine Products dedicated power video

I was thinking when you were showing how to cancel "sounds", couldn't you go "up" instead of going down, down (10 x's) to get to Sounds?
You are correct and from doing these videos I have found out some of the more overlooked tips like this one are the most appreciated! I'm not offering any groundbreaking information here but it has been recieved well because I've put my own spin on it and am willing to admit that I'm also still learning! Thanks for tuning in!
can you set up boxes along the bottom?
You can run boxes but I believe they can only be on the side. I'll try to do a video on that soon
What do you think is better, helix or solix?
I am more familiar with Helix and would say they are the best bang for the buck but the Solix certainly has some advantages!
At the beginning of video you should mention the angler vs custom setting. I watched half the video before I researched why my displays were different.

Hi, I have a Helix 9 mega Si+ G4N and a Helix 12 mega Di+ G4N but can’t get the Si enhance menu to show up. I have changed the settings to custom but no help. I have version 2.660 installed, any tips? Thanks
After changing to custom you will see this option when viewing side imaging and after pressing the menu button once
@@BehindTheReelFishing thanks, but that is not what is happening, after I change to custom I get 2 more options (Si sharpnes and Si contour mode) Si enhance is not showing up
@@BehindTheReelFishing I can send you a pic of both if you want but not sure how to do that here! It is very frustrating for me no one else is having this problem on you tube. It is strange that it is like that on both graphs. It must be another setting that is causing it
I just upgraded mine to this version and have the same issue. I had the si enhance with previous version on custom mode but now its gone, this is on custom mode as well. did you ever solve issue???
@@DrGreen-wl2ry No, i guess they did away with that option and just combined everything in one drop down menu.
My depth keeps showing 1.9. I turn the unit off and on and it will read correctly then a while later it’s back to 1.9. Makes the unit pretty much useless for me. Any pointers?
what unit and what transducer are you running?
I've seen this when using an older 2d transducer with a newer unit that uses the dual spectrum chirp.

@@logansanford459 if I was saying that , I would have said it. I’m saying with FFS it is not a sport; have fun. But a sport, no.. it’s like getting a camper or some kind of a really fancy blind with a reclining chair and then feeding your deer and shooting them is not hunting.. both are harvesting the resource.. I had zero issue with FFS, stop pretending it’s a sport. The sport is dead when you have that and I think there should probably be a hard look at how much we’re allowing people to harvest . The fishing regulations have not caught up.
