Hey Ott, this is awesome. I needed the Helix content, but watching you fish with your kid made this the best video on Helix settings on the tube by far!
Really enjoyed the video - brought smiles and then some tears as I remember fishing with my son before he passed. I'm a subscriber now and hope to learn a lot more about my bassin' passion.
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Being able to fish with someone with the knowledge and secrets you have for a day would be top 3 best moments of my life for sure. I'm 23 out of northwest Louisiana and catch them all the time never owned a graph. Just got my helix 7 mega si di g3 on my17ft Lowe and I feel like my offshore world is about to open up completely cause I never fish much like that. As well with crappie
Thanks so much every little bit helps. I have the same units u have and have learned a lot from guys like you and bass u tv. It’s all about shared knowledge
Great Tips and I like that you bring your Son fishing with you on the video!God Bless! And I like the way you Talk about God To like someone else made a comment about!!!🙏🏻✝️❤️
Ott, great video My son and I fishing together all the time, ( I can trust him not to give away my waypoints lol) At 14:55 u talk about the range, I live in Central Florida most lake dont get over 20' depth, what should I put my range at to see better returns?..... thanks for information and help,
Ott, we (the general public) do not know you. But you come off really well and we listen due to your delivery of information and success. Please do me one small favor?? Make your fishing buddy wear those styish high dollar sunglasses he owns, especially with a treble hook in use??
Ott, great video! I fish with my son all the time as well. I thinknits great that you fish with the little man, helps influence the younger generation. One question i have, if you can answer. What are the frequency setting that you use on your set-up?
Now that u have covered this, I’d love to know how u graph ledge bass with the helix just not how to graph them but once u graph turning throwing at them lining up with ur waypoint stuff like that, and do u run a Heading sensor?
Good question. It puts the mark on my front graphs being linked. I can then stop the engine, troll towards my mark and the direction arrow will show when I’m in line. I’ll then pick out a spot on the bank to cast towards. Hit spot lock and you already know which way to cast. You’ll hit it every time!
I have helix 9 down image on front. Would the 360 be good for average fisherman to get . I have a helix 10 side and down image at wheel on nitro 20 ft 2019 and they are link together
Welp another Ott in his way you here him say them are white bass the way they was setup in the water Haha good video must be nice it have a dad that fishes as a pro.
@@OttDeFoeFishing Oh...OK...I thought was a trash mark from transducer, sorta scratched. I saw a SI image with grid lines vertically, that you could measure how far out fish were. Do you know how to add grid lines "sideways on SI mode?
I’m trying to find fish offshore on my home lake in Texas and I can’t seem to find them when you found that school on side image it looked like they were around nothing, when I look I’m always around a point or drop off should I be looking around flats more?
Dear Ott, what is your opinion about the ringed EWG hook for rigging Texas style? Do you think it has any advantages or disadvantages over the regular one? God Bless you and your family! Thank you.
I use a regular off set worm hook a lot. If it’s a round bait that isn’t super thick I go with it. On flat creature style baits and thicker baits I go to wide gap. One nice thing as a FYI the vmc wide gap are still off set meaning the hook point and line tie aren’t in line. Other ewg hooks are in-line. This is why a lot of anglers have trouble with them.
Helix 15 is high priced garbage!! $3000 Helix will not display 1' contours without an additional $500 map chip. Never buy Hummingbird units, NOT WORTH YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!!!!!!!!

Very true
One of the most humble professionals on the net! I always enjoy watching your videos.
Thank you Ott for this video, it saves me stress and heartache every time I update my 3 HB units.
Ott I enjoyed watching your son and you enjoying your day more than the depth finder info I came here for 😆 Good job Dad
It's great that your son is pointing out bass on the fish finder 👍
Lo.
Just put a helix 10 on my boat. The best thing with the humminbirds is there factory settings dont need much tweaking. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the video, I just bought a pair of Helix 10 Gen 4 units with networking. I can’t wait to get them hooked up.

You’re creating a monster! Fifteen years from now that lil fella will be a big problem for a lot of anglers!
Nice graphics tutorials. Great to see Parker fishing with his cat daddy.
Parker got angling in his DNA....and pops teaching him step by step with ease..that's the instructional part that I noticed
Great video Ott thanks for the info...
This kid knows a lot more about how to spot the fish on the graph than most of us lol
Reminder set👌

Great Video Ott, great to see you fishing with your Boy. Wish you covered the frequencies, because ive heard many diff options. Good Luck in AOY 2021
They are all on mega. Sorry if I didn’t mention it.
A lot of great information, thanks
parker is gonna be fire as he gets older. already identifying fish on the graph
Bout time I’ve been waiting on something like this
Great video, thank you

I would still run it at 80’ minimum. Yeah kids are the best fishing buddies!

Pro in the making
Helix 12 using Y cable for SI and 2d transducer on sonar options which transducer do you connect in options?
What camera mount is that at the console

That should be mentioned in there. I run mega which is 1100 or so for SI and DI. I think it’s 200 on 2D.
Looks like someone is going give the ole man a run for his $$$ when he starts the competition circuit....
Do the settings stay after you unplug it?
Yes they do
@@OttDeFoeFishing Ok good. Lol

OttDeFoe I had meant to ask also! Will settings change based on water clarity? And if so how much do u vary the settings

Subbed
What mount is that where you took your camera set it into the mount on the console? At about the 7 minute mark.
It’s from RAILBLAZA. Great mounts! www.railblaza.com
What is that solid yellow line on left side of screen?? Mine has that also..How do you get it off?
It’s a gauge of sorts. It can be took off in settings. I don’t remember exactly what it’s called
@@OttDeFoeFishing Oh...OK...I thought was a trash mark from transducer, sorta scratched. I saw a SI image with grid lines vertically, that you could measure how far out fish were. Do you know how to add grid lines "sideways on SI mode?
It is in the menu as well. I’m pretty sure they are called range lines.
If you are talking about the yellow line on the SI display that line is your transducer.

This was a pretty flat spot for sure. Just a small ditch coming out. Every lake is different. They will use almost nothing at times for sure.
Thank you for the reply that is helpful.
I want a Hummingbird Helix 7 Mega SI I can't stand it. Hopefully over the winter I'll finally get one and a mount for the kayak!
How come you haven't moved to Solix?
I know the system on Helix so well. I don’t mind no touch screen either.
Ott, what setting do you set your DI on in the main setting menu (Narrow, Wide)??? Great informative video by the way.
Wide I believe. Thanks!
Most of the lakes I fish are pea soup what about water clarity?

I have some but haven’t used them yet. Seems like it will allow your bait some free movement. Just not used enough to know.

See I always heard fish look like white tic tacs and I never see that but shadows all the time but not what's throwing the shadow I thought rocks..
First..... lol, I guess second actually
Your boy gonna b a stick.
Well I thought I was gonna watch a how to vib. Instead it a take your kid fishing vib.
This video shows nothing on how to use the fish finder
