This is my go-to when I want to go for a back road blast. I usually link it up with Blood Mountain/US-19 and/or Wolf Pen Gap Rd for a good morning of driving.
Fast flowing roads don’t get much better than this! I love the long sweeping turns where you can just play with the car’s balance with the throttle all day long. And then fully stretch the legs up through the top of 2nd and 3rd. When it all comes together, it’s tough to beat. GA-348 is one of my personal top 3 backroads.
Yep, NC 215 and the Skyway are the other two. Wayah is great, but can be inconsistent at times. But it is right there with many, many other roads just under that top tier. TOTD, Back of the Dragon, WV-10, WV-250, Roan Mtn, Blood Mtn…
Fully agree - its a great experience for sure. So are the earlier generations of Cayman (981 and 987). I've also had a 997.1 C2S, BMW 340, BMW M2, VW GTI, and ND Miata, and they all are their own brand of enthusiastic fun. At the top of the handling and performance in the mountains stands the 718 GTS 4.0. That said - I sometimes miss the tire squeal of the 911 as I struggled to keep up with the 981 CS ahead. Thanks for commenting and see you out there I hope!
Love your videos! I live in Florida and drive up to NC, TN and VA every month from April through October just to hike and drive the mountain roads. I can take US 441 all the way from Lake City in northern FL to GSM NP. Waynesville, NC has become one of my favorite place to stay. It gives me easy access to the BRP, US 276, NC 215 and of course US 441 though the NP. I also like Sperryville, VA just outside of Shenandoah NP. VA 211 through the Thornton Gap is a fabulous drive. My trip in June was and my trip in July will be in a Cayman 6MT 4.0 GTS. It is by far the best handling car I’ve ever driven. That and its relatively smaller size make it a better car than the 911 on the narrow mountain roads. Those GA rumble strips drive me nuts. Better have both hands on the wheel when passing on two lane roads in GA!
Thanks for the great comment. I love all the roads you mentioned. 211 is great! I drove it back before the car was all the way broken in - so the footage isn’t that good. Need to get back out there soon! Will need to check out Waynesville - appreciate the suggestion. So I have to ask - what is your favorite backroad?
@@trueview3127 I have to say, I’ve been loving NC 215 lately. Lots of very tight turns and elevation changes and it really keeps me on my toes. Plus there are some great hikes off that road. I also have a serious soft spot for the BRP and have driven the full length in both directions. In June I drove from Sperryville to Waynesville only using Skyline Drive and the BRP (except for the detour east if Boone). 450 miles in 10 hours. I try to start those Skyline and BRP drives a couple of hours before sunrise so I can get the road to myself. It’s quite the variety with sections of tight twisties and sections in southern VA with wonderful big sweepers. VA 647 heading east from Flint Hill is very fun scenic drive past a lot of horse farms. I’ll take that while traveling from Sperryville to Arlington to visit my daughter. Hmm, now that you have me thinking, I need to mention US 58 just north of VA’s southern border. The section from Independence to Damascus is absolutely insane! Just hope you don’t get stuck behind one of the many bike vans taking people to the tops of the bike trails. That said, the bike van drivers keep those rigs moving pretty well considering. As a side note, the section from Galax to Independence is four lanes with some big high speed sweepers. It’s a fun, fast entry coming into the more technical sections from the east. Finally, US 64 through the Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests is very good, though it can get a bit trafficy around Highlands and Cashiers.
@@trueview3127 Would love to drive with you guys sometime. I’m back in NC with the GTS in a few days. Yes, US 58 is one I need to drive again soon. August!
@@Yakman18 agree about 58 between Damascus and Independence. It’s a great road. BRP is a nice cruise, but too heavily patrolled to be properly enjoyed. But the pull offs and great views are endless!
That’s a great road - will need to put that video together soon. 997.1 911 in the lead role! Please keep the suggestions flowing. We take notes and find some hidden gems 💎! Appreciate you
@@kenaip3857 that’s a great route, although a few too many houses in places. Have lunch out on the patio at the main restaurant in Little Switzerland at the top. Stunning views and good food!
Thanks for watching! Will ask the guys ahead to give it some more gas on the straights next time. Definitely give GA 348 a try when you can. Would love to see it!
That induction noise on the 4.0 is so awesome. I'll be up on the Dragon/129/TN28 Tuesday and Wednesday in my 987.1CS, can't wait!
Sound good right? Hope the Dragon run is traffic free and flowing all the way through. Enjoy it my friend!
@@trueview3127 Thanks, that's why on only go on Tues/Weds!
Love this channel!
Right by to you . . . thanks for watching!
Can't wait to hear the in-car with your new exhaust setup.
I am still getting my hearing back after the last trip with it active. It’s a nice boost in volume!
I think the stock exhaust already sounds AMAZING.
@tobi_dg it does sound good! Thanks!
Nice - Great flow on GA-348 . . . One of the Best Roads there is. Ed Bolian recommended in fact!

Jealous! That’s a fantastic circuit.
@trueview3127 thank you for the video, now I'm tempted to go this weekend. Lol!
@ARentz07 do it!

True words. So - we have 348, The Skyway, and Wayah or 215? But then there is a new dark horse recently found!
