hmm, mine consumed some oil during break in, but barely consumed oil after break in (note that I finished break in period at 1500 miles and did an oil change).

Smart to do the early oil change. I’m at 2300 and doing mine this weekend.

@@michaelmelo2970I’ve had Porsches that do that. It’s endemic to the flat 6. Although I haven’t heard of it happening to that extent in modern Porsche motors. Does it happen every time you start up the car?

@@Zuffenhouse Na, it was a one time occurrence. The car was driven relatively hard and then shut off for about 10 minutes, when we started it a massive blue cloud of smoke appeared out of the exhaust. Over a 13 year span we've had 3 porsches all from new and i've never seen anything like that, it is typical to have a lot of white smoke on cold starts which is just moisture burning off within the exhaust but this was very clearly blue smoke. Also discovered couple months later the oil filter was lose and leaking 👍🏻 keep in mind the cars also only has 8k km on it and isn't tracked or abused.

@@michaelmelo2970 agreed it’s not necessarily “normal”, I am just saying it’s a problem more likely to appear in flat 6 motors than vertically oriented motors, because oil is prone to slip past the rings after sitting. It’s not ideal, though, and I would bring it up with your dealer ASAP. Because they might not be able to replicate the problem themselves, I would film your car every time you start it up until it happens again. That way, they will be forced to address the issue.
Is the car under warranty? These motors are strong and use an unbelievably cool novel cylinder coating technology called SumeBore, which virtually eliminates the risk of bore scoring. With that said, I’ve read of one instance of someone’s SumeBore failing (likely an issue during manufacture). Hopefully you don’t have that issue. Could also be rings.
