  • In this episode I cover how I approached editing, sequencing and making a wet proof for my (hopefully) next photo book which is currently on Kickstarter till the 23rd June.
Please check out the Kickstarter HERE: www.kickstarter.com/projects/...
I've self-published two large scale hard back offset printed photography books since 2022 and in this video I share some elements of my process of editing my work, sequencing and why I splash out on expensive wetproofs when printing an offset printed photography book.
If that video didn't rub your rhubarb and you haven't subscribed already... come on board comrade! Here's the link: ruclips.net/user/edthomps....

I have shot a bunch of books for publishers, but not of my "work", but cookbooks, etc. It is admirable to take that challenge on on your own.

Thank you. It's get to a point where if you don't do it yourself then it's never going to happen.

@@antifencer that's what I've been doing! Lol I think I talk about it in my video on how to crowdfund photobook, how I spent a long time waiting for a publisher to come or a gallery to come or a museum to come or a curator to come.... And of course they never were going to! so I just decided to start self-publishing and I've been doing that since 2022. That's why I publish all these videos about how to self-publish a photo books because I want to encourage other people to do it as well rather than waste their lives away waiting on people who are never going to give them a chance.

probably a stupid question, but i have been thinking about this for a while: would it make sense to make a small zine consisting only of darkroom prints?(so literally, the photosensitive paper that you print on using the negative)
it would definitely cost a lot, but it would make each zine unique in a way. Also, it would be a great way to highlight your darkroom skills(if you have any)..
I was also thinking that one Zine consisting of one photo that was printed in the darkroom in different ways to convey different meanings/feelings would be so cool.. i wonder if this has been done before, because it sounds very obvious..

I've seen c-types sandwiched together to form photo books. Quality is great, but the pages are very thick and photographic paper isnt as hardy as the paper books are printed on. A novel idea💡 one for the limited edition fan.
