If you have a towel radiator on your heating system, and can't find a place for a magentic filter, or have the required plumbing skills to fit one, the RADMAG is the perfect DIY solution. Although it will also be good for plumbers to have on the van. This filter will trap magnetic sludge inside your radiator and prevent it from ciculating around the heating system water, stopping black water and poor efficiency in the heating system.

Hey James... Saw your video and thought what a genius product. I've got a Vaillant filter in my system but I thought Radmag would give it a helping hand. Anyway it turned up and I installed it real quick in my (tall) towel rail. Ran the heating for 30mins and of course had to see what I'd collected. Went to pull out the Radmag and found the little nut had fallen off the bottom and disappeared, and the bottom spacer was floating just below the vent hole. Cue a pause for thought... Fished out the spacer and noticed the hexagonal recess where presumably the locking nut should sit. Remembered that when I'd done the installation, the locknut was proud, and therefore loose. My bad I suppose. Instructions could have mentioned checking this though. As I'm a very persistent man and don't like to be beaten, the next day I isolated my towel rail, took it off the wall, flushed it out and recovered the nut. Took the Radmag apart, re-assembled with all threads done up tight, and used Loctite. Problem solved but I think all purchasers should take that precaution, obviously before installing in a fit of enthusiasm, like me, and causing extra work :-) :-)

I bought one, but didn’t have enough headroom to properly install it.
I managed to take it apart, so I could lower it in piece by piece. Unfortunately, the orange plastic guides would not pass through due to the horizontal tubes being proud. Never mind, I thought, they’ll come off as well! They did, and everything was going well until the final piece of the telescopic piece also fell foul of the protruding tube!
    Defeated, I reversed the process.
The magnet wasn’t in the radiator more than five minutes and it was thick with magnetite! It’s an impressive product, and for those whose installation went smoothly, I can see it working well. A shame it hasn’t worked for me.
We have a real issue with where we can install a magnetic filter and I thought this would be perfect…….
Maybe I’ll replace the towel rail instead!

Put back after cleaning, 2 months later removed again for cleaning and found that the magnetic part had unscrewed along with the plastic spacers and left within the towel rail. I now have to remove the rail and try to push it all out from the bottom. I tried to reinsert and re-screw it all in situ but to no avail. Result new towel rail. I have been using Kamco machines for 20+years and have worn one out, I've flushed so many systems!
Bought the original Adey powerflush kit at Earls Court when it first came on the market; Chris Adey was on the stand and I paid, I think 150quid, as an add on he gave me FOC a 300mm Magnaclean. The two combined is the only way to deal with badly contaminated systems!
I would advise anyone who is serious about combating magnetite to get on a Kamco course. If not, your not a serious professional.
I'm sure, given the numbers of boiler changes, a lot of installers may convince themselves that systems changed in even as little as the last 10-15 years only require draining and refilling, thorough flush or Magnaflush as being adequate.
If the the condition of the system is not seriously determined , the life of the boiler is bound to be negatively impacted! And using cheap and or inappropriate cleaning and inhibitors can not be tolerated by the professional installer.
I know my comments will not be greater positively by many , but don't listen to me, take the time to find out what Kamco etc. Fernox, Sentinel, Adey,Scalemaster, Calmag and other quality providers can add to your expertise.
Knowledge is not cheap, quality is not cheap and cheap don't buy a professional installation.
All this prompted by the absolute and most outrageous, misleading, cynical posting by plumber parts!!
I'm and have Always endeavoured to portray myself and the trades in the most positive way. That sort of commitment didn't come cheap, unlike this most disgraceful misrepresentation!!
I look forward to you making amends.

Think in needs proven property on a bad system and maybe compare.

I fitted one last week, whilst doing other work on the heating system , easy to install, on recommissioning the system I took it out and it really does drag out the contamination and this is only out of the towel rad so far as not circulated yet. But the bleed screw is of such a very poor quality , it is as if a 1st year apprentice has made it by hand with a "bastard" cut file , it simply is so bad and not square to use a normal rad key. The use of a "juzzie" spanner simply is over kill and access is somewhat limited so not really convenient and not what should be expected. I will update this in 6 months .

What we really need is widespread upgrading of iron/steel rads to something like brass/aluminium - Maybe not even the entire thing, just the inner cavities in contact with the water.
No iron on the line -> no magnetite in the pipes to deal with. So many old, sludgy systems out there punishing their boilers trying to get the house warm! There's probably a fair amount of gas could be saved if this was actually pursued nationally (no chance with this gov though) 🧲😎

Much easier and cheaper to just fix the water and keep the oxygen out.

@@edc1569 Really? I'd be interested to know what you have in mind since you do mention water and not some other solvent which would be another clever workaround (maybe a not-very-viscous oil in the CH instead but then that's a boiler alteration).
You could bubble nitrogen through a tank of water with an outlet to offgas to fully deoxygenate it, and then fill your system (under vacuum) with that water to avoid letting any air or oxygen from the air in, but that's neither easier nor cheaper in any way than just swapping out steel for brass/aluminium rads (of course) so I fear you might be just shooting the shit :P It would also add needless complication to have to order in this 'special water' for a job instead of tapping into the cold mains to fill :P
And in practical terms, it's almost a guarantee that air will get in at some point in some tiny quantity through the smallest gap somewhere and then you're right back at square 1 lol
