The reason they made Vanessa a fembot who “dies” in the first scene is a send up of the time James Bond got married only to have his wife die in the first few pages of the next book.
She dies in the final pages of the same book in which they get married, On Her Majesty's Secret Service. It's devastating.
Either that or Basil switched her out along with her mother considering number 2 has been selling Doctor evils technology over the years.
Yes, but the main reason was because Myers wanted Austin to have a different love interest in each movie, just like in the Bond series. So Vanessa had to go.
@@masterzombie161 true
Was she a fembot the whole time?
The part where he throws Mini-Me at the pipe in just a quick, flat shot is one of my favorite slapstick moments in cinema.
I second that
@@Bafangool_Fool 2z
I just had that exact thought as i rewatched it for the first time in years! Magnificent... 👏...👏 ..👏
You heard "get in my belly" from every boy that attended middle school in 1999.
Feeling a little attacked and also having nostalgia at the same time. lol
Isn't this movie a little too adult for a 12 year old to watch? I never understood parents who were like, "Sure, little Jimmy, you can watch an R rated horror movie"
@@themightycongueror8383 It all depends. I used to watch South Park and stuff and even saw the movie and this one when they came out (I was like 6) and it never bothered me or affected my morals or anything like that.
Most kids I knew already knew about stuff like this but we were taught well by our mothers (usually) and knew not to emulate this stuff even if we found it hilarious.
@@themightycongueror8383 This movie is rated PG-13. While I wouldn't show this to a kid today, I know a lot of kids saw this in 1999.
I went to high school in the early 2010’s and I still heard it 😂😂the legacy continues
The opening scene in the next Austin Powers is going to blow his mind
OMG yesssssss... the third one is my favorite... even better than the other two
@@fxzero666meh first 2 are better
I love gooooooooooooooold
Brandon: I hope we'll see more Vanessa. I really liked her character.

RIP Mini-Me actor. Dude was SUPER nice in real life. :(
That Jerry springer scene always cracks me up so much, all those bleeps lmao.
I got your hood!😂
He's biting me! The *bleep* is biting me!
"are we watching a movie within a movie?" that's the third one.
Those cameos are awesome
Verne Troyer who played mini-me passed away in 2018 from alcohol abuse. He was just 49.. Sad stuff.
They say theres a trend of alcoholism with midgets or dwarfs.......anyway little people.
Definitely sad. The next thing I saw Verne in after Austin Powers was Surreal Life and it was heartbreaking to see him on that.
Was it alcohol I thought it was suicide?
@@travis9260 suicide by alcohol poisoning
@@travis9260 High levels of alcohol from toxicology results. It was suicide, but the alcohol plus depression were the actual cause.
My favorite quote "the English countryside looks nothing like southern California".
28:33
Scott: "But I thought I was a test-tube baby."
Frau: "Lies....ALL LIES!!!!"
I literally start the day with, "spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch." Glasses, phone wallet and watch"
Best of the series
Agreed
Agreed
Absolutely.
True
I think there's a universal agreement that this movie surpasses the original. One of the few sequels thats better.
Frau is Scott's mother, when she said "I'm late" she was pregnant with Scott.
Man Brandon didn’t catch that 🤦♀️
@@mojosodope45 I never caught it either because i was so focused on the comedy (and heather graham of course) that i forgot they had time traveled when they had sex.
@@mojosodope45 28:30 Yes, he did.
But Scott said in the first movie that he was created in a lab?🤷🏽♀️
@@mojosodope45 me too
The funniest gag of the entire series is that Doctor evil doesn’t even need the money. His company makes millions of dollars every year and own Starbucks. It’s just Doctor wants to take over to prove that he can do it, even though it would destroy the world and his company in the process.
Why make billions when he can make....millions?!
That's the ENTIRE conflict he has with Number 2. 2 basically gave him everything he wanted while he was out...but it wasn't 'fun'. It's like Senior Senior Senior from Kim Possible. He does it because it entertains him, it's not about the money, it's about the DRAMA
He's a man of principal, and I respect him for that XD
The really funny thing is that happens frequently in the real world. My Brother in law frequently spends a night at a casino. I remember him praising himself because he made £60 for "nothing." Leaving aside the other nights when he wasn't so lucky that would offset that, it took 8 hours to turn that profit, from 10pm to 6am. Somebody driving a taxi for those same 8 hours will have easily made twice that. Heck, accounting for night premium and tips, the barman in that casino probably made more. But apparently the illusion of making money for nothing, of getting one over on capitalism, is more appealing than greater rewards that could be earned without the stress or risk.
Art imitates life?
If you liked the rando cameo with Woody Harrelson, you're gonna love the first five minutes of Goldmember. LOL
My dad was a boomer meaning he grew up watching James Bond films. As a kid I remember in 1997 he took me to watch Austin Powers international man of mystery in the theaters, I've never saw my dad laugh so much and so hard before in my life from watching a movie. I myself enjoyed the film but witnessing my dad just having a blast was the best part of the experience. I just wished he would of stuck around a bit longer so the both of us could of watched the spy who shagged me.
Hey, it wasn't just Boomers. Us Gen-Xers grew up watching James Bond films too. We grew up on the Roger Moore Bond films of the 70s and 80s.
14 year old me had the biggest crush on Heather Graham after this came out.
I watched it over again about 5 or 6 years back and had a crush all over again. lol. I was like......... I forgot who she was :o
12 year old me was right there with you
13 or 14 year old me had the biggest crush on Heather Graham after Twin Peaks first aired :)
Hope you enjoyed her in Boogie Nights too!
And she still looks great
If you like the way Mike Myers does product placement, you should react to Wayne’s World. Absolute classic.
Yes!
The Star Wars references are there because this came out the same summer as The Phantom Menace, the 1st Star Wars prequel... The trailer for the movie was a star wars fake out and had the tagline "If you see 1 sequel this summer, see Star Wars, but if you see 2, see Austin Powers: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME" lol, check it out on youtube, it's really funny
My brother played the "Mommy!" guard. 😁
You can also hear the proto Shrek voice in 'So I Married an Axe Murderer.'
Heed!!!!
"HEED.PANTS.NOW!" 😂
HEED! MOVE THAT GARGANTUAN CRANIUM, IF YA ABLE! IT'S LIKE AN ORANGE ON A TOOTHPICK!! Now that was out of bounds wasn't it... heel be cryin imself to sleep tonight on his gargantuan pilla....
Go back further to the SNL skit with the Everything Scottish shop. Because if it’s not Scottish, IT’S CRAP!!!
@@MDK2_Radio Damn I forgot about that lol. It's from the before times..... the long, long ago.
The reflection in the eye scene was a reference to Goldfinger (and just as in Goldfinger, it's mirrored the wrong way)
The 'zip it' scene is one of my favourites. Probably because it just goes on and on, lol.
Still love this movie 😂 I always forget its Mike Myers playing different roles, he’s so good!
i only realized he's doctor evil from the last reaction, lol
My whole childhood I never knew Austin and Dr Evil are played by the same guy 😳. I always thought Dr Evil was amazing and wondered why he isn't in any other movies. But then I found out Dr Evil is Mike Myers, so he is in a decent amount of movies.
He should have played Donkey
I love all 3 of the movies equally, they never get old
@Bill Cosby Sir.... Step away from the girl, IMMEDIATELY!
I need Goldmember soon lol I literally quote that movie everyday
RIP Verne Troyer. (Mini-Me)
🙏🙏🙏
FINALLY! Been waiting for this one for weeks!
Shagadelic baby, that Frasier episode where Martin watched Austin Powers then kept shouting the catchphrases slays me.
My friends and I used to rent this movie whenever someone was down, failed exam - austin powers, boyfriend left - austin powers.
whe knew the script by heart.
we rented it so many times that the guy of the videoclub told us "next time you rent it I´ll give you the copy". Next month the videoclub tape was ours
If you want a classic (dark) comedy with a legend playing three different characters, then _Dr Strangelove_ is for you.
Indeed, this is a fantastic movie which Brandon needs to watch.
One of my favourite movies.
I saw it quite recently. It's fine. A little overrated but worth a watch.
He was suppose to play four different characters but Slim Pickens played that character because Peter Sellers got injured on that set.
Another even older classic dark comedy is 'Kind Hearts and Coronets', Alec Guiness plays 9! different parts. The oldest comedy, and perhaps the oldest movie in general, that I've enjoyed.
My brain is so linked to this movie that I can't believe Mini Me wasn't a thing before it. He's so iconic.
I had a crush on Scott Evil when this movie came out. 17 year old closeted me thought emo Scott was the coolest guy ever. 😃
He was in Buffy too right?
@@RonHeartsMe I believe so. He's also the voice of Chris Griffin on Family Guy.
Seth Green is the embodiment of generation X. I first saw him in the very obscure TV show The Byrds of Paradise with Jennifer Love Hewitt.
I so feel like a good Austin Powers marathon right now.
"Poor little bugger, he's like a dog or something" gets me everytime XD
THIS ONE is my favorite!!!! I'm partial to Goldmember bc I watched that one way more, but this one introduces Fat Bastard and Mini Me... ICONIC
young me completely fell in love with Heather Graham after seeing her in this
I can still remember the first time seeing her in those shorts.... makes my mouth water.
You should see her as roller girl.
If you want to see “more” of her, Boogie Nights is a must watch.
I remember being disappointed that Vanessa wasn't in the rest of the movie then seeing Heather and instantly getting over it lol
My favorite of the trilogy by far. Best jokes and best "Powers Girl". Yes, I had a huge crush on Heather Graham.
Goldmember is my favorite, can't wait.
Mine too! Beyoncé is not great but this one hits my funny one. LGRW!
The Fat Bastard suit literally smelled like hot garbage and Mike Myers would wear it around and torment the cast and crew.
The introduction of Mini-Me, and Fat Bastard were so brilliantly done. Funny characters for the ages. The third film has another fun addition or two up their sleeve...
P.S. Click made me cry, despite being another silly Adam Sandler comedy.
Click always makes me cry 😭 such an under rated film.
Click is the last descent Adam Sandler movie.

@@maximillianosaben Honestly never seen it. Does it have comedy?
After the third and final Austin powers movie, I think we need another parody film, and I have the perfect one: Black Dynamite
A super underrated film from 2009 and I think you’ll love it considering how much you like Tarantino’s love for 70’s cheesiness
4:35 - "This show (Jerry Springer) has just turned into absolute chaos"
Us - "Yeah that's kind of what made Jerry Springer...Jerry Springer."
The "Shrek voice" is actually his voice from So I Married an Axe Murderer".
Even earlier on SNL, he did his “If it’s not Scottish, it’s crap!” skits.
The reason it had the Star Wars title is because this was around the time Star Wars Episode 1 came out.
Yup, if you haven't look up "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me Teaser Trailer" That was the most surprised and excited I'd been at a trailer, ever.
The scene of the rocket launch as Austin is going into space is actually from the Movie Apollo 13. Same gag as the Independence Day scene.
3rd one has some of the most hilarious moments in the whole franchise, although I think I prefer the 2nd movie as a whole
yes i agree, number 2 does feel good, on the whole
Brandon please react to "In Bruges" I'm sure you will love it, it's a dark comedy/drama.
Please like this to ensure Brendan sees it, thank you.
YES
my favorite movie
top 5 anime betrayals, Vanessa as a Fem-Bot
YOU WOULD ALSO LOVE: 'In Bruges', 'Seven Psychopaths', 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri'. Same director, three beautiful movies, all with stellar casts !!
Underappreciated movies. The people who've seen them love them, but not enough people have seen In Bruges or Seven Psychopaths.
Couldn’t agree more! Especially in Bruges, only 1 person i know irl who has seen it
I second In Bruges pls brandon
Takes me back to 1999! Quoted this movie all summer. I was waiting tables, and after work a few of us would go catch the late night showings. We laughed our butts off all summer! Plus we had a new Star Wars movie!
I can’t wait for you to react to Goldmember. That one is my favorite and the cameos are amazing
Saw this with a whole group of friend in a packed theater when this came out. There were parts of this I remember laughing so hard, I couldn't breathe. Good times.
My absolute favourite of the series😂, heather graham my all time celebrity crush😻
I got this on dvd when I was in college and there is over a half hour of deleted jokes that are at least as funny if not more so than the jokes in the movie. My friends and I would regularly quote lines from the deleted scenes.
I can't describe how much I love this series. Helped me through some dark times. Can't wait for you to see the 3rd one.
I hate the 3rd one.
Goldmember is my favorite by a mile. I love all of them. Can’t wait for you to watch it.
The third film is my fav. I was too young to watch the first two but was thrilled to watch Goldmember in the theater
You don't have idea of the number of sleepless nights that i spend watching this movie on cable when i was 10.
Excited as hell to see your reaction.
Mike plays two characters in the first film, three in this film, and four in the third film. There is rumours of a fourth film so if he doesn't play five people in it I'll be pissed.
I am a stoic guy, but I was laughing to the point of tears right in the theater.
The Scott Evil bits are still my favorite parts of these films
You’ve most likely seen it, but you should definitely react to Wayne’s World. Great Mike Myers film
Party on Garth!
@@raifthemad party on Wayne!
One of the rare trilogies where each one is better than the last. Goldmember is the hardest I’ve ever laughed in a movie theater.
"Have you seen my Balzac?"
🤣🤣
25:50 - I feel like she was breaking character almost laughing if she was watching him bust in the room in real time. Look at the smirk on her face, the smile getting on the bed, but the very next camera cut she is straight-faced .... lol
I reckon all 3 are great, I can watch them over and over again.
YOU NEED TO WATCH CLICK !! It's my favourite Adam Sandler film, and has one of his best performances towards the end, really emotional!! Hahah
Another Mike Myers movie to consider is So I Married an Axe Murderer...its so good
The title is a play on the 10th Bond film title "The Spy Who Loved Me"
If I remember right mike Myers made the first movie as a tribute to his late father who liked spy movies and old British comedies.
I love that you enjoyed these first two, in the trilogy. The third movie is probably my favorite. I remember seeing it at least three times, in the theater.
THIS was actually the first Austin Powers movie that I watched. My mom found the VHS and showed it to me and my younger brother when we were kids having NO idea what it would be… and was subsequently horrified by what she had done. 😂
"maybe vanessa will get a bigger role in this movie" 5 mins later.... Lolz
the third one had me in tears. can't wait for you to see it.
Dude you have to see Click!! Love that movie!! So funny 😂
Hahaha yes Goldmember is good also thanks B.
I loved these movies as a kid. This is deffo the best one!
“He’s Mike Meyers? He’s Mike Meyers? He’s Mike Meyers?” I’M Mike Meyers? Are there any other Mike Meyers’ I should know about?” Past Austin: “Meow, baby!”
best reference ever
I believe Basil exposition is actually the villains of the entire saga. Since Number 2 most likely sold these plans to them, it explains how they managed to have their own time travel technology.
Not just that but maybe the reason why Venessa is a fem bot because they had to replace her with Doctor evils tech in another time to keep her and her mom safe. It’s not uncommon that they did this, Austin’s dad does it all the time so it’s possible that they had to change certain timeless for certain operators.
Doctor evil doesn’t have any plans or goals like that, just world domination. And everytime he fails, Basils technology gets better and better. They now have access to some of the most powerful technology and only need Austin to keep Doctor Evil from going full on psycho.
Haha love it. I wanna rewatch the series now just because of this comment.
I love that he’s watching this movie before a certain it’s always Sunny episode
Very niiice, mah wife 😂
@@user-mb9nm7bq5e “get in mah bellay”
Mike is making another one, but all the Austin Powers movies are really good. The romance, the music, the colours and the jokes are really good. The best stuff out there, Mike Myers really outdid himself with these movies.
When Fat Bastard said "Get in my Belly!", I was instantly reminded of that Ludacris song "Number One Spot" that was basically a rap song about Austin Powers. I consider that song one of the pioneers behind "Nerdcore", where fans be making songs about characters from TV, movies, anime, and cartoons.
The 3rd one is my favourite, can’t wait until you see it!
3 is really good too. Excited to see your reaction to that one. The whole series is just grade A entertainment for me. These movies are super rewatchable so I would definitely recommend going back to them!
finally a person that agrees 3 is good as well lots of people don't care for 3 i have noticed
@@jamesbond99 I hate the 3rd one.
Yes!! Love Austin Powers!
I quote this movie so often that its just a normal part of my dialect.
The constant Star Wars references were because this movie came out in 1999, the same year that “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace” was released. Even the teaser trailer was meant to tease audiences with it, with Dr. Evil sitting in the Death Star
Please don't make us wait too much for the third movie! Also congratulations for the 100k
Just to let you little kiddies know, Jerry Springer was a phenomenon in the mid/late. He was so huge that his show infiltrated everything media, even mainstream movies. He finally got his own movie called "Ringmaster", which was pretty good.
The spanish dubbing (spanish from Spain) for this film is just magnificent. To avoid what happened with the first film (most jokes got lost in translation) they created a complete different script with a LOT of meme lines that only spanish people would get (latin americans wouldn´t get the jokes). It seemed like the script was from an spanish comedy and not an american dubbed.
I´ve watched both and they are hilarious in such different ways.
But comedy is VERY difficult to translate to other lenguajes and cultures, and they did a great job.
Congrats on 100k you deserve it!
I got chills hearing the opening narration and took about 10 seconds to recognize the voice: the great late Tony Jay. That voice is the stuff of dozens of legendary roles.
The Star Wars theme in the movie is because this movie was released the same summer as Episode 1. The movie trailer was literally, "If you see one movie this summer, watch Star Wars. If you see two, watch Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me".
I've been anticipating this ever since you watched the first one! Glad it came sooner than I expected. Awesome. Onward to the next one!
Awesome to see you hit 100k my guy. Good stuff
Always fun to catch the RUclips edit for a few quick laughs after watching on Patreon earlier!
Cool Hand Luke, with Paul Newman
Agree! Great movie
The reason for the STAR WARS-style opening text crawl was that this came out in 1999, the summer of THE PHANTOM MENACE.
Let’s goo been waiting for this one😂😂
