the irony of carrie fisher running group therapy gets lost on a younger audience
Some people don’t even know that’s Carrie Fisher.
@@taoist32 I didn't until I saw this comment and I've watched it loads of times :O
To be fair to the replies, Carrie Fisher looks and acts really generic usually. People don't usually clock her in most things.
@@Alchemistic88 Have you seen her in the Man With One Red Shoe? She's anything but ordinary in that film.
@@LtDan-rk4si I just found out recently they really wanted Jamie Lee Curtis for that cameo (In scream 3). Makes sense, they could have said "You look like that woman from Halloween!" But I'm glad they got Carrie Fisher instead.
lol of course it's a parody of Odd Job, his name is Random Task
Korean ex-wrestler evil handyman extraordinaire.
Who throws a shoe?
In the same vein, Alotta Fagina is a parody of Pussy Galore.
@dash4800
Honestly!!!!!?
He's also played by a truly horrible person.

This first movie especially is such a great and brilliant parody.

Dude, you have the best movie choices. They are kind of random, but I love it because you don't go for the movies everyone else is reviewing. I feel like I went to watch this in theaters when I was a teen... I would have been about 13 when this came out so I probably watched it with my cousins.

She’s like a mathematically perfect human.

Bedazzled and Austin powers. She is one good looking woman. Sadly she isn't that great an actress so she really just did a bunch of B movies other than these few in her career. More looks than talent. But very hot.

Nah, this came out in 1997, and Love Guru came out in 2008.
Love Guru is a flawless parody of Mike Myers movies that happened to be a Mike Myers movie itself.

The Spy Who Shagged Me is the funniest most quotable movie that ever existed, says my brain from back in middle school.
I preferred Goldmember, but I'm sure middle schoolers had a great time with both.
My favorite movie with Mike Myers is Wayne's World.
@@HALberdier17 nah for me it’s shrek
Shrek, Big Lebowski, Spider-Man trilogy, Wild At Heart are my most quotable
Oh man I love Austin Powers! I think the second one is my favorite (Spy Who Shagged Me) but I love the third (Goldmember) too.
Here’s how I view them
1st Movie: Best written
2nd Movie: Funniest One
3rd Movie: Decent
Edit: also here’s another one for True fans
1st movie: Venessa is best girl
2nd: Felicity is Good too, and a clever reflection of Austin Powers
3rd: Foxxy is Fine but Venessa is still best Girl.
Spot on correct!!!
The first 2 were parodying James Bond, the third was parodying itself but I still love it. And then Spectre stole some of its plot...
I really couldn't agree less! The first was classic, the second mostly just tried to rehash the same jokes. The third, in my opinion, us miles above the rest.
@@greenpeasuit from what i remember the third was really good and had some good character development

The therapy session is best, especially w Carrie Fisher.

We need the other two movies!
You should see old James Bond movies to get some references made on Austin Powers movies.
It seems like he knew some things like Odd Job’s name and trademark move, but at the same time I felt like he was missing some references, too.
Of course, much of this film is also a direct parody of the James Coburn movies Our Man Flint and In Like Flint (which themselves were contemporary parodies of the James Bond movies) -- the Fembots scene in particular is right out of In Like Flint (with the Fembots themselves being from the '70s show The Bionic Woman).
@@LeChaunce yes, I always assumed that Powers was a parody of 60s-era spy TV shows and films in general, notably Bond but also many others. The Blofeld stuff with the cat is clearly Bond, as well as Odd Job and Pussy Galore.
@@randall-king Totally! And there's so many other nods to '60s things in here, like the opening chase scene with the girls being totally taken from the opening sequence of A Hard Day's Night, then becoming a nod to The Music Man with the marching band, and the line "This is my happening and it's freaking me out" is lifted directly from Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls.
Actually...
The "FemBots" are a take from the aptly-named sequel, "Dr. Goldfoot, And The Girl-Bombs".

I was wondering if anyone else noticed considering he is one of the more iconic characters from Seinfeld.
Also fun fact - there was a lot of improved lines, as I'm sure is probably kinda obvious in some spots. Most blatantly, all the puns Austin made after escaping the death trap - Mike Meyers forgot his actual lines and just kept making jokes.
YEEEAAHH, BABY!!
I just clicked on this and haven't watched it, yet... MY MAN... YOU'VE NEVER SEEN AUSTIN POWERS!?!?!
Oh... imma enjoy this one...
This is a perfect movie to see a reaction for because it uses dated elements. The opening where Austin is running from fans is inspired by a Beatles movie, A Hard Day's Night. Bob's Big Boy was a well known, around here at least, franchise with that iconic mascot once upon a time. Tons of potential humor in a movie like this flies right past today's audiences. It's a good way to see what has stood the test of time and what didn't.
Fun fact. Random Task is in prison now
Yeah, he is not a nice person.
I mean, not sure whats so fun about it but okay!
What a monster. Would have a beer with him.
Also fun facts: Random Task (real name Joe Son) developed his own martial art, called Joe Son Do. He had 4 MMA fights, all of which he lost. His most memorable moment in MMA was getting repeatedly punched in the testicles by Keith Hackney at UFC 4.
@@Carrot421911 That one definitely does constitute a fun fact.
The part where you predicted that Austin and Dr Evil were related made me realize that the Goldmember twist that was played as a contrived plot twist actually has merit lmao
