paperlike display protector is not for most people. It will 1) affect display brightness, resolution and contrast 2) very hard to clean 3) damage your apple pencil tip easily Only people who care about writing experience more than any other things combine should be using it. And yes, 2018 iPad pro is extremely good even in 2022. I suggest getting it over any non pro iPad today, promotion is the best thing ever. I also expect it will continue perform well for next 3 years. It will be as good of a deal as iPad 2 and iPad Air 2.
Great review! My 2018 is butter smooth and I use it heavily everyday for media consumption and work. Battery lasts me over a day without charging. Couldn't agree more with what you said. No need in upgrading this device. When I upgrade next is when something game changing comes to the iPad.
I got 2018 iPad Pro as soon as it came out. Back then, other iPads seemed too limited and I didn’t want to go anything below that 2018 iPad Pro. I still love it and don’t feel the need for upgrade. Hoping to go 10 years of usage with this 2018 iPad Pro!
@@Stryker123321 I’ve been working from home still, so haven’t really been on battery… always plugged in with magic keyboard. But I would assume, if I’m going for 10 years of usage, I may want to change the battery at some point
Came across this video because I have been trying to determine if it is time to replace my 12.9 iPad Pro from 2018. So far, I still can’t find a good enough reason to.
I realize that the difference between the A12Z(2020) and A12X(2018) is pretty negligible, but if I want to buy an iPad today (which I do) and hold it for 5 years, I have to think that within a year or two the 2018's 4GB of RAM may become a bottleneck vs. the 2020's 6GB, as will the base storage of 64 vs 128 GB. So I'm leaning toward the 2020. Your thoughts?
I don't think that will be a big issue, Apple supports iPads for a long time and if your use case doesn't change, it should remain fast. That said, if you use it for heavy work like photo editing or graphics work now, it might be worth investing in more performance.
Great value. I just picked up a refurbished one from Apple. $599 with 256GB. Comes with a new battery and aluminum case and...a full one year warranty.
such a good video! thanks for your review, time and effort that went into the making of this video. great job and yes, i love the ipad pro 2018 very much, too haha
I've had mine for two years now I bought it just as the 2020 was coming out I got the ipad two cases a screen protector and the pencil for $600 64 got it with receipt of purchase still in box so I still had six months of apple care left
1. *IPAD PRO 2018* • (only ipad, No box & no accessories) • Battery health => 85% **PRICE: $345** 2. *IPAD AIR 4* • ( box & all accessories) • Battery health == 95% **PRICE: $370** Which is better deal? I am only buying for competitive pubg So no lag on pubg in any circumstances.
How so? The 120Hz are unreasonable anyways especially considering the older A chips cant keep up anyways at anything more demanding than the UI, and the speakers are also not too bad on the Air 5. For real, whats the benefit of the 2018 Pro making it that much better? I got for a reasonable good price with student discount a Air 5 256GB instead of a refurbished or 2nd hand device without discount, paid not much more but i have at least a somewhat capable chip inside!
Hi! I just bought the Ipad pro 2018 , it seems that it comes with IpadOS 12. Does the 2018 pro is upgradeable to the lastest OS? Thanks for the Answer.
It is, I just bought an iPad Pro 11 inch (first gen) from someone, and he performed a Factory reset before giving it to me, the moment i came home i did it again to have it even fresher and “newer” and It booted up with iPadOS 15.5 automatically. If yours doesn’t, it should anytime
My 2018 iPad Pro still does its job but recently, it can be only charged with USB A chargers. Any USB C to C chargers and cables (from apple itself, anker, other brands) would not charge. IDK why. Anyone?
I’m sorry but I don’t like the iPad Air 4 that much is not for me anyway , I love the iPad Pro more and even I got the iPad Pro M1 12.9 for Christmas and well I love big screen on the iPad
Great video! I love the old 2018 PRO. But - at least in Germany - even the refurbished ones cost more than 750,- (in good condition). So it is still a lot of money. I was talking about the 12.9 iPad Pro. The 11" is available for 450,- :)
Absolutely not I was also looking for 2nd hand stuff and refurbished older iPads (since all i need is handwriting mainly) But as i saw i can get the Air 5 256GB with a very nice student discount for just 100€ more over a 2018 Pro refurbished (without discount possible) i just picked the Air 5 with M1 instead. Especially when using photo editing software like lightroom etc the M1 definately feels noticable more snappy and instant (vs many „thinking breaks“ at A12-A13 chips)

I got myself the IPad PRO 12,9 2018 with apple pen 2 gen and apple keyboard folio for 620Euro. It is awesome! It has no scratches

What about the batter health deterioration after 5 years of usage ?
Buying an older models have degraded battery - I found for cheap for my daughter and the battery does not last as long as my Air 5th Gen.
Is it still going to get the updates for the next 5 years?
Nobody seems to be talking about the hardware issues in many iPad pros from 2018 (case bending, touch problems etc.)
finally someone that talks in euros!!!!!! love you!!
My 11 inch 2018 iPad Pro is still a beast
I efit a lot of photos in Lightroom and no problem so far, the M1 is not needed
Another youtuber said the same until he tested the M1 Air

4 gb ram might be the only reason for apple to discontinue software updates to this iPad pro
Iphone 13 from October 2021 has also 4gb ram. Just to put that in perspective
Doesnt it bend really easily?
Yes, it does. Mine bent after few months. It’s still working but there is a vertical line that doesn’t respond to touch. It’s pretty bad
I order it recently. Has it bent for the time you have it.
The usb c port alone in enough to justify the upgrade from the normal ipad

People are so excited about older models, until they realize that all the juice is locked behind m1,m2 chips.
It’ll also squeeze the juice out of your wallet. That’s why people are looking for older models
