Didn't even judge him on mental health. You can have a serious anxiety disorder or PTSD and still communicate. Mental health is complicated. The "health assessments" are not health assessments at all, and they're not meant to be. They're simply beaurocratic methods to cut spending. You don't get anyone remotely on your side until the tribunal when a panel actually looks at your situation and evidence and the dwp hope you'll give up before then because of the humiliation and stress

@noeloreilly9440 this. PIP is assessed on how much supervision the client needs.
Each question has to be answered in terms of not just can you do the task but can it be done SAFELY, CONSISTENTLY and in a reasonable amount of TIME. Also, how does it make you feel afterwards. For example if it was a question on walking and the client had osteoarthritis, would walking 50m make them have to lie down afterward? It's the impact of the tasks. Assessors are looking for the description of a client's daily living to be consistent with the doctor's reports.
Yes, most first time applicants fail, but around 7/10 appeals succeed.

I didn’t ask for it until absolutely needed it and worked my ass off to avoid taxing the system. Then when I could hold out no more, they looked in every corner to find a reason to decline me. I was as straightforward as I could be with them. No intent to deceive. It’s pathetic and pisses me off. Yes, you have to understand Parkinson’s a little bit. My wife is a support worker and has been to hundreds of PIP assessments and hundreds more tribunals. The lies these people tell is incredible, on one occasion the assessor said that the could "read at normal font". A miracle considering that she is blind! Another claimed that the person could walk 50 yards unaided, again, impressive because that man has been paralysed from the waist down following botched surgery for more than 20 years. The bottom line is that almost without exception the assessors decision will be overturned at tribunal so please, if you don't agree with their decision, fight them.

If you record without consent, you have proof that no-one *officially* will listen to & they will target you as a ‘trouble maker’!! If you notify the DWP in advance by phone or letter, they have to find someone willing to be recorded! Depending on your circumstances, you can say that you have poor memory recall of phone conversations! I did this & have never had to fight for PIP again but it was 6 years ago, rules have changed again but i think they still ‘allow’ if warned!

      > They have said things like “Technical Fault” (meaning they ‘accidentally’ cut you off🤨) If in person & not warned, people have been told they will end the interview but a few will allow, And if you use your a mobile device to record, they will not give points for anything to do with your hands, even if you clearly show you have difficulties😠 As i’ve said previously, if it’s a phone assessment, you can record it but if you have not declared you are doing so, and you need to use said recording against them, it’s mostly useless as a tool, unless you can afford Legal help, which most cannot.
A lot of these people LIE for a living, it is their terms of employment (unspoken of course) to fail up-to 65% of applicants🥺In other words they will mess you about causing massive stress to applicants & in order to save their own sanity a lot of people will go ahead without recording.
      > This is from .gov website…
Claimants can ask to have their face-to-face assessment audio recorded and all requests will be accommodated where possible. However, claimants do not have a legal right to a recorded assessment and it should be noted that neither DWP nor CHDA has a legal obligation to provide an audio recording service or equipment.

Please don't come for me here. I also have a chronic illness and rely on PIP. I know how difficult and degrading the process is. I also know how wildly inaccurate many of the reports of assessors are, even when the claimant has correctly communicated how they fit the descriptors. However, your video here demonstrates a complete lack of understanding about PIP.
This is not to say that you aren't entitled to it. I have no idea of your daily life so I couldn't comment. However, needing medication to function, having a certain diagnosis (outside of a terminal one) or needing to reduce work hours has NO impact on a PIP claim. PIP has nothing to do with work. I have mentioned this on a reddit thread and got downvoted. If people don't want to hear the truth, then that's up to them. Their PIP claim will not be successful.
If you want to be successful, spend some time understanding how PIP actually works and scores. No one gets points on communicating if they can utter a basic sentence. This descriptor is used for severe autism/mute etc.
Whether you agree with this or not is irrelevant (sadly), because this is how it works. If you understand PIP and have a genuine case then your chances of being awarded it EVENTUALLY are high. Around 15% of cases are overturned at the MR stage and around 70% at a tribunal. If you believe you have a case, fight for it, but learn how to WORD your PIP form and correctly communicate your struggles in regards to the descriptors. I cannot stress this enough. Also, read the government PIP handbook/guidelines, it can help you understand.
Rightsnet have a series of PDFs on each descriptor. Just google each one. Here is a link to the first one on preparing food that may help.
    www.rightsnet.org.uk/pdfs/pip_guidance_nov_2017_1.pdf
    Good luck!

If you can put a slice of processed cheese between two pieces of dried bread it is classed as preparing a light meal ... zero points .....

    • @leaperrins8373
      @leaperrins8373 День назад

@@bz7924 As per the DWP's own guidelines for a simple meal, it is not. What the assessor has decided, for whatever reason, may be another story. A 'light meal' is not what the preparing food descriptor is for.
A simple meal is a heated meal, once a day, prepared from fresh ingredients. The ability to deal with a cooker, heavy pans, peel and chop etc should all be assessed for this descriptor.
Again, what an assessor has decided fits, and why, may be different. If they thought you ate this way through choice, and were capable of preparing a simple meal, then that's the angle of dispute. What did the report say? Did you request one? However, this decision would very likely be overturned with a judge if the sandwich wasn't a choice, as it is not a simple meal.

I am disgusted that you have been treated so badly. Your diagnosis and proof of medication should have sufficed. In 2002 when I was bed-ridden with an auto-immune condition I was treated similarly. My fiancé wrote to Maria Eagle who was health secretary at the time and she was great. It took almost 2 years and a tribunal in my home to win the case though. A local MP and perhaps an advocate from Parkinson’s will help you appeal. Good luck. 🙏

Had my pip stopped years ago not for parkinsons but for autism after I was told that "I need to learn how to look after myself" but here's the thing autism effects my ability to learn and requires 1 to 1 support with certain things so how am I meant to learn when a mental disability that I suffer with does prevent me from properly learning oh and I told them about my dyspraxia (hand and foot coordination issues) and they ignored that as well.
Seriously PIP needs to be investigated big time.

The people doing the assesments, and the owners of these private companies, should be open to prosecution in criminal court, for the crimes they commit against the disabled and poor people, they ruin lives, also civil servants should not be able to hide behind their desks and be held responsible for their actions.

The assessor told me if I couldn’t finish the assessment I may not receive any award so I struggled through and when the wrote to me they used the fact that I finished the assessment against me. I really pushed myself to finish and answer all the questions. Either way I lose x

If you have not already done so, then demand a Mandatory Reconsideration without delay. Get that, and then you can Appeal to the 1st Tier Tribunal (at no cost). Present the facts clearly to the Tribunal via the Appeal documents, and it's highly likely the Tribunal will find in your favour, possibly without needing to hear you in person if the facts are in your favour, and your Appeal shows this clearly.

Hi, this happened to my heavily disabled mother with her ESA, she scored a zero.
After looking over the assessment it turns out the assessor not only completely disregarded EVERYTHING my mother said, but also made up a bunch of the answers which my mother was not even asked.
She was literally writing the opposite of what my mother told her in some cases.
Just another example of the sick oppression at the core of this country.
My mother has multiple spinal issues, the inability to bend her legs and due to this she has essentially not left the house in over a year due to the pain it causes her..... according to those clowns at ESA she has no trouble traveling on her own and sitting in one position etc......... she literally has my dad as her carer who has to push her on the wheelchair and sitting in one position puts her in intense pain.
All of this, while they have no issue giving money to people who enter and stay in the country illegally. Pathetic country run by a government of clows.

How does it impact self are- do you need support washing? How about household chores? How about at work? What impact does this have on you mentally- a diminished interest or avoidance of socialising.. impacting relationships?
You just gotta show them u on ur worse days . U didn’t ask for this disease and it’s going to be an extra cost to manage it

I won at tribunal although the stress was so intense I could not stop crying all the way through and had my daughter to talk for me through most of it. It's shocking how they treat people. The thing with PIPs isn’t what your diagnosis is, to them that doesn’t matter, it’s how it effects your day to day living, if you are missing your meds and that makes your condition worse that’s down to you (their thinking not mine) so you have to say that you forget to take them so you need help with taking them, it’s all about the wording
