  • I bring you another PIP video to help with your assessments. I learnt a lot this time like not to overwhelm yourself with too many post it notes! Plus, to go through each section of your form including your diagnosis to make sure you get all your points across! I didn't put music over the video as I had requests not to do that. I hope this helps with your assessment.

      When living with a mental health condition the interviews make you feel terrible afterwards and leaves you feeling all they want is to catch you out? Even though you have suicidal thoughts everyday and I was asked once during this have I attempted it or made plans to carry it out I said the latter but made it clear that I feel it's my way out of being here living this hell I'm in! There answer was but you are still here? I can't understand why they said that? The process as made me feel worthless even more than before.

    The first time I applied for PIPs it was a horrible experience. My daughter went with me. I have Bipolar Disorder and my moods were up and down throughout. According to the assessor I should only answer, "Yes or No". My daughter tried to explain how the Bipolar affects me and was told not to speak. I struggled with finding the words to say due to anxiety and I got really upset during the assessment. At the time I couldn't prepare a cooked meal, couldn't go anywhere on my own and couldn't manage my medication on my own without supervision and prompting to take it and a whole host of other things. The result of the assessment was that I scored 0 points. We asked for a mandatory reconsideration and the result was the same. It was extremely stressful. Now I have other health issues Someone at the DWP recommended I reapply for PIPs which I am absolutely dreading. I had to give up a job I loved because I kept dropping things due to my hands cramping up. My hands a like a claw grabbing machine at a funfair. Sometimes I can pick things up and hold them but at other times I loose my grip. It varies from hour to hour as to what I can and can't do. This time my daughter will be filling the form in for me and requesting the interview to be audio recorded as last time the assessment wasn't recorded.

Like you my anxiety will be through the roof and I'll forget and stumble my answers. This will be my third renewal. Two home visits so hoping my third will be over the phone! I've just had mine yesterday, It was awful. I'd written post it notes and stuck them on the form because the charity that helped me fill it out filled it incorrectly. I've been really anxious about it as the appointment grew closer having sleepless nights and when I went it was even worse than I expected-it wasn't an assessment, it was an interrogation. It was a video call too, which I couldn't find any advice about what to expect beforehand online-all that I could find was face to face or telephone examples.She just rattled off question after question, it was very formulaic and relentless. She didn't asked me about how my different conditions affected meseperately and if I couldn't answer for example How long does it take you to walk to the shop? I tried to give her an example of how long it takes for me to get to the bus stop as I'd previously worked that out with a Welfare Rights officer, so I could quantify it in terms of speed/distance, for an ESA 50 form, she didn't want to know and kept pressing me to 'estimate' so guessing really. She was really aggressive and she just panicked me into guessing things I didn't really know. Since I have a number of Mental Health issues and physical issues I would have thought she had wanted to know how each one affected me. It was harrowing. Everyone said I'll feel better when it was over. I don't, I feel worse. It was a car crash of an assessment, they made me feel like a criminal. Sorry about the long post. I've got an ESA review interview coming up and 'm dreading it. Btw, This was my 3rd assessment, so not my first rodeo, the first 2 were face to face, This was worse than the first 2. I feel mentally battered.

Useful video, I've had THREE PIP assessments, the first one went to Tribunal, the second two I got overturned at Mandatory Reconsideration. The fist claim got me standard living. The second one standard living and standard mobility. The third one got me enhanced daily and standard mobility. I agree they want to rush the assessment, my response was "How can you assesses me correctly if you are rushing it?" If you are recording your assessment you need to seek permission.

And I know that many assessors lie so I just don’t want to put up with bullshit

    My daughter is awaiting her review, which will be going to assessment, we don't know whether it will be telephone or face to face. We are all dreading it.The woman, who telephoned her to let her know her review was now being looked at, was rude and judgemental. She referred my daughter's own daughter to both the GP and Social Services, as 'cause for concern', because my daughter was unable to give her a 'Yes/No' answer to the question 'Are you capable of looking after your daughter, her health and hygiene?' Her daughter is 13 years old. My daughter has CFS/Fibromyalgia and CCPTSD. She also has dyspraxia, and a host of other diagnoses. She struggles to keep going, most of the time.
    As a result, the real answer should be 'Actually, I DON'T need to do this, because she is old enough to deal with her own hygiene and inform me of any health problems she might have. I can get her to the doctor if necessary with help. So in that sense, it is technically NO, because I need help to take her to the doctor, if she needs to see him. I cannot leave the house unattended, I cannot walk the distance to the doctors, or to the nearest bus stop either, so I either need someone to take us both there, or pay for a taxi. I cannot always cook either, so, at times, I need to pay for takeaway meals, so that she is fed. I cannot always do things with her. My family and friends help whenever necessary. If I cannot provide her with something she needs, I ensure she gets it from elsewhere. She is homeschooled because I was, and still am, unable to take her to and from school myself. But I ensure she has a good education. I pay for her online classes, and am always prepared to explain anything to her, which she might not understand. Education-wise she is ahead of her peers.'
    The woman from IAS, didn't listen to what my daughter was trying to say. Clearly, she took it for granted as a No.
    Her personal interference in my daughter's life was not welcomed by either the GP or the local Social Services, who after 'investigating' my daughter and granddaughter, closed the case. However, the true effects of all this on my daughter have been horrendous. The stress of it all has caused a visible deterioration in both her physical and mental state, and she is now terrified that this was just a hint of what is to come. At her original assessment, 8 years ago, the DWP also tried to suggest that she was not capable of looking after a child, but at tribunal, it was confirmed that this was not the case. Ironically, it is not my granddaughter they should be looking at for signs of neglect. She is fine. Her mother puts her welfare well before her own. Any energy she has is spent on her. It is her own wellbeing, not her daughter's, which is at stake here. It is her love for her daughter, which keeps her going. Without her, I think she would completely lose the will to live.

    • @LordandLordettes
      @LordandLordettes  5 месяцев назад

      I can't believe they have taken that route, how awful for your daughter and yourself. All the stress makes it all worse. Have you written to your MP about the way your daughter has been treated as I feel I would! That is totally not on. Also, contact citizens advice as they might have help and advice on her future assessment. I hope she gets her pip and it all ends for you all as it is so stressful. 😔

    I'm so confused by it all. I was awarded standard rate of living 2 years ago and my next assessment is coming up in a couple of weeks. The first time the assesment came back and didn't seem to at all stack up against what I'd told them. My condition is far worse than it was back then and don't know how I should be answering. I can walk 20 metres but there are times in the day where I can't stand. Does it count if I can walk but it's painful and uncomfortable and I'm constantly saying, 'dont worry I'll catch you up'. There are times in the day that when stood I can't apply pressure to my right leg meaning I can't walk at all for a period of time. During the colder months it's excruciating constantly. I'd really appreciate some help if someone is willing to give me a bit of time. In short, as a child I had a degenerative disease which caused the cartilage to form badly in my hip joints, this is now simply classed as arthritis now I'm an adult. It's caused a cam deformity in my right hip and I have impingement giving me reduced mobility and range. I often get shooting pains through my lower back, hip, groin, down my leg, in my knee and strangely all the way down into my big toe, I think I'm trapping nerves but I'm no expert. Since it's got worse I'm having further investigations and walk with a stick at 37. To make things worse, over exertion hurts as does sitting for too long. I can't win lol. Apart from the shooting pains I ache in the hip region permanently even with multiple prescribed pain killers and physio. I Appreciate any tips or advice. Thanks in advance.

My role at work has changed because of my disability and my colleagues and management are great. They've made every effort to ensure I can remain employed and I'm not doing anything more than Im capable of. Will the fact I have a job be deemed as a negative in an assessors eye? As if they'd assume, well of he can work.....
      In truth, I'm getting to a point at work where I'm not sure how long I can continue for which is why I'm panicking with regards to the decision because I may come to rely on the money, much much more. Now if the government create some jobs for people to work from home as this is the direction they want it to take. I'm all for it!
