    Can I just add when I was in a M.E. Group at my local community centre we had a visit from a gentleman who was high up in the association and he advised when filling out any forms always answer as though it was one of your worst days ever. Don’t put down how you are feeling on that day if it’s a “good day” as that isn’t the true picture of your illness. That was said to me early into my diagnosis and I will never forget it, I can’t remember what happened days ago but I can remember that. Thanks for all your input and sharing the good times and bad. I’ve was diagnosed with M.E in 2000 and fibromyalgia about 10 years after. Things have progressed with peoples acceptance of this illness but we still have a long way to go. Xx

    • @LordandLordettes
      @LordandLordettes  2 года назад +3

      Thank you, yes a good tip. But, they do ask you how long your bad days are so that can be tricky as we don't know! There should be more research and help for us which is why I took it off my own back to research myself! Thanks for watching. 😊

    I take a week after first receiving the form to note everything down that I experience that week or anything that comes to mind. Brain fog is so hard sometimes for us so I carry the notebook around to write when the thought hits. I get written references for multiple family members. I ask them to write down the help they give me and anything they notice about my illness affecting me from their point of view. I detest the phone assessments as I get extra anxiety over the phone. Contacting Citizens advice is a massive help and they can come to face to face assessments with you if they are available. Don't be afraid to disagree with the assessor as I've had one or two try to trip me up with questions. Also don't be afraid to dispute the final outcome if you think it's wrong.

    Well done Nic. I can see that even making this video has been a source of anxiety and stress for you. Putting yourself through it to help others navigate what sounds like a horribly unpleasant process is very generous. I’m not in the UK any longer, but hearing a lot of people talk about the PIP process makes me very glad not to have to engage with it 😬

      always complain about the judges, keep complaining for not getting things explained. they have to calculate scores. if you are
      not fit for work. keep saying you are not fit for work. they rather want to hear you can't cook food, for example they rely on letters from gp about mobility. and letters from friends who help with cooking, shopping, promptimg etc if you suffer from anxiety and stress and have a busy mind... this will keep you away from keeping a job

      I was refused pip because i had good eye contact. Also they said i walked at a normal pace, even thou i was on crutches can you believe, and they even brought the interview downstairs to me because i was unable to get up the stairs. They came to their own conclusion i can walk 200 metres without stopping..wow. i can now see why people go into a interview and give Oscar winning acting performances. I've heard of people spraying fart spray on their selfs to seem they carnt keep their self clean.. do i really have to go to these lengths. Also lost my pip because i lost contact with my mental health team through the pandemic...

    • @omviuvenitlalumina
      @omviuvenitlalumina Год назад +2

      @@salas..5686 that's a load of crap. keep appealing and complaining. any, any dissatisfaction is considered as a complaint. try to ask your doctor to draft a letter to show you can't walk more then 200 meters and you need to stop every 10/50 meters. you will get it, the letter and the pip. keep persisting. they have a further complaint process after appealing twice. I cannot believe how incompetent these staff are. get written letters from people who help with washing, cleaning, cooking and directions etc

    I was so frustrated with a family members claim last year. They were gaslit starting from the assessment up until the mandatory reconsideration. At some point I was even gaslighting myself thinking "maybe I actually did say this and forgot". Then there were statements and quotes that I 100% would never say. This left me extremely disoriented. Bare in mind a lot of ppl who are applying for PiP aren't in a very good place mentally which was what was being applied for. It wasn't until this year (case was long closed by then) I started looking up ppls experiences out of curiosity and I was SHOCKED. Pip have a systematic issue of lying multiple times, dismissing and tossing cases. Not even just anecdotal experiences but I even found articles confirming there were investigations into PiP which found they lie and lie and lie some more. They even told a man with no limbs that he could climb up the stairs! The only time they budged was when it reached the press and it became embarrassing. They then quickly said it was due to an "error". Yh right. Dont mind my rant but Pip has got to hands down be the worst and most gross department of DWP

      I don't know how the assessors have been allowed to get away with it for so long. There was a channel 4 documentary exposing Capita in 2013? exposing their unfair assessment practises, a manager was training assessors to fill out part of the assessment before even meeting applicants. The government did nothing, and Capita wrote it off as a one off. I feel like there needs to be a follow up documentary, or a campaign to go viral there have been suicides as a result of people having their PIP taken away

    This is good advice about how to give evidence of long term illness if you don't need to return to your doctor. PIP seems to ask a lot about when and why you might deal with health professionals, but what if you don't? I had a spinal injury, emergency surgery and some physiotherapy afterwards. I asked for hydrotherapy the following year, and this was 6 years ago. There's no cure. Hopefully I won't get worse, but I won't recover either. There's no medication to take. So why would I keep bothering my doctor when there's nothing they can do for me? I sometimes think that the DWP assume that if you don't go to the doctor, then you're not disabled.

      Totally agree!

      @@LordandLordettes This is my problem too, even though my condition was worsening I wasn't going back for physio or even discussing it with my GP as there was nothing they could do about. I don't know where you are supposed to get supporting evidence from - I don't have a social worker/support worker, most disabled people don't, and consultants will really only confirm your condition not go into detail about what you can/can't do - at least mine wouldn't. I have an invisible disability and I think this is harder to prove how it affects you

    Thank you. I've got a phone review coming up and you've given LOADS of brilliant tips there.
    My personal favourite was having all paperwork for questions laid out with post-it notes. Also - recording it (which, like you say you need permission for) - and my understanding is you must call to request this in advance. I'm hoping that this (concrete recording of the conversation) prevents a repeat of cancellation of payments (and all its knock on effects to other benefits), followed by a "Citizens Advise intervention" and eventual reinstatement. In fact, that's one thing I would add...
    Ultimately if it goes wrong/you don't get your desired result (because they do seem to want to twist your words/trip you up!), you can go to citizens advise who will make sure you get an appeal (or indeed initial) form filled out in the best possible way with one of their PIP specialists. So my tip wold be use a Citizens Advise specialist; they will actually complete the form for you.
    But, thank you, brilliant content, soooo helpful!

    Recently we lost my uncle my mums brother who I was named after and was very close to.
    I ended up after the funeral having a seizure staying in hospital 🏥 overnight I told them I was not right but they discharged me with in 2 hours of leaving the hospital 🏥 I had a black out at home and smashed my head/face on floor and gave myself a black eye 👁️ they tuck me to a closer hospital 🏥.
    Made me wait 6 hours in waiting room and when I saw a doctor he told me to go home and rest No scan No Nothing.
    However the night previously at the first hospital the doctor has referred me to a Neurologist.
    Anyways sorry for the feel sorry for myself rant but my uncle told me YOU SHOULD be get PIP.

    When I went in front of the tribunal back in 2019 they were super hard against me for even studying or making a cup of tea. I just feel like they have this opinion that we're useless sub-humans and that we should not have any help if we're able to move our bodies even an inch. Maybe it just from having such a bad experience with PIP.

      Do you have anyone who can be with you at your phone assessment? Unfortunately, most benefits come with an assessment and they are very stressful, I do understand that. You can just be as prepared as possible. Get as many notes written up as you can, especially if there have been changes since what you submitted in your written papers. But it does help to have someone with you to support you. I know that can be difficult, as my husband and all my friends were at work. Try some mindfullness leading upto the assessment. I have 3 videos you can follow. Remember, you have nothing to hide, you are telling the truth and that is all you can do.

    To get PIP you need a portfolio of requested and acted doctors appointments.. request any treatment offered claim nothing works and the final treatment is a government hand out. How do I know this? My own mother is now apparently eligible for PIP, she managed to get an over the phone mobility rating 10/12 madness. And now has the house council tax and alot of incoming moneys. I'd say she comfortably receives over £2000 a month with no rent or council tax. She holidays 2 times a year and has recently purchased a nice new car (not mobility). I must add she too me is a hypochondriac as she has gone to the doctors for every ailment going except cancer. And they can't find any fault with her. But I guess it's easier to say you struggle to cook and put your socks on and recieve PIP even though in reality she's walking with no aid (most days) she's goes to tescos each day to spend money she frequents carboots and manages to do activities on holidays. I just don't agree with the system. (This doesn't make me a hater... just an observant tax payer wondering wtf is going on).

    I was asked did anyone help me fill out the form a friend of mine was present because it was quite stressful and they said write it yourself in your handwriting as they went through it with me because if they write it out for me that will go against me aswell due to the fact they can't see how you did all of that as they can see from your writing how you write will indicate if you can perform writing in specific way which I couldn't that was hard for me and you can see how hard it was in the form and my writing difficulties. I did mention I brusie and I have all burnt marks on my arms from cooking asked how many times in a day do I eat I only eat knce in a day which is casuing me to have less nutrients I was also asked do I have financial difficulties I said yes because of how it is hard for me to to them, and this goes against you too the whole nation has financial difficulties who doesn't so I think this type if question can be asked when you have tribunal and say it's wrong to ask that question as it sounded as if someone is doing for the money to help their financial difficulties which isn't true I need things to support my health they cost money without thr money I struggle so they in itself is a financial difficulty to not be able to afford stuff for my health to better myself and bring relief to me. Your doing a great job with all this tips keep it up as it helps a lot if your going through tribunal. Thank you so much

    Hi lovely. I’m just wondering if you might be able to help me with something please. I had my pip review this morning and I received a text message a few hours later saying “The health professional has sent us their report” … Am I correct in saying I can ring up and ask for the ATOS report? If so how long do I have to wait? Kind regards 🫶🏻

      I think that the wait for the report on whether you get pip or not is 6 weeks but not sure what the ATOS report is? Sorry I can't be more helpful!
